A Ouija a Day Doesn't Keep the Demons Away

This story happened to my grandmother. Picture it, mid 1960s. Every novelty store had a strange game called Ouija Board. It was considered good fun to use one. In fact, it became the party tradition for a group of friends. Almost everyday, a party would be held at one person's house to play ouija board. They didn't think of the consequences of using the board. Why would they? It was only a game.

Then one late Friday night, a newcomer came to the party. Twenty people gathered around the table to show this woman what fun they would have with the ouija board. My grandmother was the leader though. She knew the ouija board better than anyone there. She volunteered to play with this newcomer. All throughout the night, they played the ouija board. They thought it was an innocent game until weird things started happening.

The doors and windows were opening by themselves. Things were thrown against the wall. They all thought it was a joke. They thought one of the party goers had set up this elaborate joke. But it wasn't a joke. They asked who was in charge of the ouija board. The board spelled out S-A-T-A-N. Everyone's expression was blank. They realized it wasn't a joke. Nothing happened after that.

My grandmother never touched a ouija board again.

My mother has warned us over and over never try playing Ouija board (it is called spirit of the glass in our country). She has a terrible experience when they played this game when she was still young. She was so scared that until now she strongly opposes for us to even touch the Ouija board.

Base from the readings I have done and the experience of my mother (this is just my assumption) I think Ouija board is the gateway used by evil spirits to try to exploit the lives of human beings.

My friend in high school was so addicted in playing this board that she would play this everyday. Her life became a mess and luckily she had drawn herself out of it or else shes going to get crazy. Shes doing and saying crazy stuff. She gets paranoid over little things, and she looks different... She can't look us straight in the eye.

Anyway, I suggest never to play Ouija board even if its for fun. IT IS NOT SAFE!

How many time do I have to tell people! Those boards are used by many people and many times something goes wrong! I'm glad nothing got worse but let that be a lesson to you. NEVER TOUCH AN OUIJA BOARD! Whooo glad I got that off my chest, just stay clear of those things. 😳

I think there maybe a correlation between your mind-set at the time and belief about the Ouija board and the experiences one has.

I say this because my grandma gave me her board that she used in the 1930's and 1940's. She never had any bad experiences; it was just a thing to do to entertain yourself, ouija boards and seances were all the rage at parties back then. While I fearing it had bad experiences.

my mother, who grew up in salem, told me about her experience with a ouija board once. Nothing bad happened, but she told me that I souldnt play with one. But if I ever did or was around people using one, to say a prayer of protection, and to light a white candle to welcome to the good spirits/angels so they could provide protection against all evil. 😊

I've only used an ouija board once in 5th grade. We were at school, and decided to stay inside during lunch break. Well, when we saw it was actually trying to spell something out, Frida quickly blew the candle out. I think the spirits still roam there, since the school is very old. I visited my old school last week, because I was depressed over the fact that my friend was suicidal, and sat crying by the main entrance. I could swear someone stroked my leg, possibly to calm me down.
This story is very creepy, though, and I think it's wise to keep away from ouija boards.

I live in Colorado now, but when I lived in Nevada my Friend and I were dumb enough to use an Ouija board. Even if they are home made DO NOT underestimate them! We thought they were just a load of Bull poop, but I nearly got thrown off her bed by a sudden force. I am not lying.

I have a creepy story about my mothers ouija board and how if affected me but because this website is so filled up, I cannot post it yet. And yes, as MagikMagi13 stated, that sounds exactly like an experiance pulled from the movie Witch Board. I watched that movie maybe 3 months ago and remember it vividly.

jallen8037 - Ouija boards CAN be fake, if you buy one from Wal*Mart. There are some authentic, working ones, if you know where to look. They also do not work by yourself (as often). None the less, They are dangerous if used by the right people. Harmless as they are to some, they have been known to start weird activity in peoples houses; some of the world famous exorcisms have had to have been done due to Ouija Boards.

If you're going to make a mockery out of it, and just move the pointer around, and go, "Ohh, such a scary Ouija Board! Look, I'm moving the piece by mysellllllf! Woooo~" You're doing it wrong. That, and ghosts just may not like you.

Nimrod - I'm glad nothing serious happened to your grandmother.

Happy Hauntings,
Penny ❤

i thought it was only really old ouija boards that could cause stuff like that to happen 😕 guess not.

When I used an ouija board once (you know, one of those newer ones that you get in toy stores with the glow in the dark planchette)
It was just me and one other person. Nothing really happened though. Not sure if that's a good thing or not... Maybe neutral.

I think it didn't work because it was just the two of us, but I don't know. I haven't used in at all after that. Figured it didn't work.

And in case anyone asks, no nothing paranormal happend. If there was, it only happened maybe 3 times a few years ago. All it was was one of my wall scrolls moving a little bit.

I know back then the board was seen as a harmless game, but it IS a very serious thing to toy with. I know most people believe that the board is nonesense and that it is the people who control the movements of the planchette (which I myself believed until I had my own experience with it). Even though your Grandma said the board spelled out S-A-T-A-N - this obviously was not Satan himself. This is what you would call a trickster demon who enjoys scaring people, so they use Satan's name because they know it frightens people. The very first time I used a ouija was the first and the last for me.
Myself, my brother and my cousin decided that since we did not own our own board, we would create our own. I took a blank peice of large cardboard-like paper, drew out the letters/numbers etc and got the glass ready. Before conducting the actual thing, my brother got me to search up on the net how to use it properly and I did so. I surrounded the homemade board with candles, saying a Hail Mary and Our Father as I went round lighting the flames, spread some lucky heather a gypsy had given my mother a few days before over the homemade board and voila! We were ready to start.
Stressing the fact that I certainly believed that the ouija board was not to be taken lightly or laughed about (I knew it was a seriously thing to meddle with, but it's just some TV shows that put me off sometimes because it looked fake) I expected nothing to happen. My cousin suggested introdcing ourselves, so we spelled out our names on the board. Nothing happened. My arm and hand was starting to ache after about ten to fifteen minutes of nothing happening and I was about to announce quitters when I got the shock of my life... The planchette (which, we used a glass tumbler) started to move. We all gaped and looked at each other in awe and I automatically started to blame my bother and cousin, saying they were moving it... But they couldn't stress nor swear enough that they weren't! And as I watched closely, asking one of them to randomly remove their fingers slightly, both of them removed their fingers and the planchette still moved but slowed down to a stop when after a few seconds. My heart was racing and I suddenly felt so freaked out by it I wanted to stop but my brother and cousin quickly placed their fingertips back on the planchette and... Well... This is the scariest part... It didn't - as I would have thought - spell out any random name but the address of my house. It then moved again and spelled P-A-T. I felt a lump in my throat and my brother's face was sheet-white. He looked sickly.
3 years previously, my Great aunt Pat had died...
We never said anything. We just let it keep going. And then it spelled out... D-A-D.
I was shaking like mad by now and I felt the lump in my throat become tighter. Six months after my Aunt died, my dad left my mum for another woman.
Feeling the urge to ask the question, I said: "Auntie Pat?"
It moved to "Yes".
I asked: "Are you mad at my dad because of what he done? Is this really you? Is that what you mean?"
It moved to the center of the board and then back to "Yes".
I asked one entirely silly question, and yes, call me crazy, but I felt so drawn and convinced it was my Aunt, I asked: "Do you miss having a little whiskey now and again?"
It moved to "Yes".
Then it started to move about going to random letters and wasn't making much sense... Then it spelled out M-A-R-Y.
"It could be Granny Mary," I whispered to my brother. He shook his head, telling me not to speak, but the planchette moved to: "Yes". My Aunt Pat and Granny Mary were sisters.
After that... It kept on spelling out: "Love u" "I Love u".
Then everything stopped. It was all very sudden and breif and all of us feeling extremely freaked out, we closed the board and decided NEVER to use it again.
Now and again I think back on it and it's nice to think that it could have been my loved ones just wanting to say hello, but then there's a dampening feeling I get where my instict is telling me not to believe entirely everything the board said that night - seeing as bad spirits can trick you into beliving they are your loved ones... And seeing as the Catholic faith discourages ouija board use, since they believe that no one can contact the dead in such a way... But I know I will never fool with one again... Especially not a homemade one!

Strange, I have also had a Ouija demon tell me it was Satan, but it told me it was Lucifer not using his fallen name. But I don't know if it was telling the truth, I only believe it gave me that identity to try and frighten me. This spirit might have done the same to you

I think that's one of the problems with Ouija boards, for most they are parlor games. That's how I was introduced to them, it wasn't until this site I've heard of people who honestly think that you could contact anyone through it.

So people buy this game that's sold in toy stores and hearing it's just a parlor game, thinking it's harmless fun and then when things get serious they don't know how to deal with it.

That really is scary, although I'd be skeptical of someone saying they were Satan. Not that I'd be inclined to talk to them any longer to check how truthful they're being...

At least no-one was hurt! To many people use the Ouija Board incorrectly and get hurt unnecessarily. Although it's a shame she never wanted to use one again, it's good that nothing majorly bad happened.

The outcome to this is very peaceful compared with that of 10, 000 other accounts involving the board.
Everybody there was fortunate.
I remember the 60s ouija board frenzy, and recall some of the stories. None were pleasant.

If anyone at all can honestly post a TRUE account here on YGS wherein the use of a ouija board produced really positive results, that would be something to consider.
I don't mean positive as in predicting death or killings --how positive is that, really?
Anyhow, good to see that no one was hurt in this case.
Thanks for the story...

Ouiga boards are not something you want to mess with. I myself have not used one (and I never will), but I have talked to family and friends who have. It is said that when you use one you create an opening, or portal that allow the demons into this world. And if you do use one, how do you know the "spirit" is telling you the truth. It can lie to you. More than likely, it does lie to you. It finds fun in messing with. Please consider the consequences before you even THINK about using an ouigq board.

I guess this strand is proof that some people just refuse to learn from others' mistakes...

Cellno11 and JrGhostHunter, you have NO IDEA what you're asking for. It is VANITY, pure and simple, to believe that you can control the paranormal. You CAN'T, and you will pay a heavy price for inviting this into your life. Consider yourself warned.

The "lords of this world" (as opposed to the one-God of the eternal world) have one intention -- destroying human souls, and they will use ANY method available to do that -- deceit (pretending to be a "spirit" who is familiar to you) and appealing to your baser nature (vanity, greed, anger, etc.) are well within bounds for them.

There are scary enough things in our everyday world. You don't really need to contact the "other" world to find something frightening to occupy your time.

A.

Hi nimrod, Sorry being late on commenting, but I came across your story, and my Aunt was using a Ouija board one night, to talk to my great Aunt, but while she was talking to her, there was an evil spirit that tried to come through, and she demanded to leave. I am glad that your grandmother was okay. Thanks for sharing your story. 😊

I haven't used a Ouija board before. I don't fear Satan (but I won't be dumb and give up my soul or anything to that effect) but it is a chance to get answers to a subject humans don't understand. So I don't see why you wouldn't use it again to find out things people have wondered since the beginning of time.

I have had a few episodes where I had seen and listen to something (what I think a demon, or just a spirt) though sleep paralysis. I am intrigued by it and ask whatever it I to come to me so I can learn more about it.

I want to use a Ouija board to try to communicate with spirits. But if these spirits can hurt me or my family I'll be a little more hesitant towards using them.
Email me information about them please so I can figure out what I'm going to do thanks.
