Imp Shaped Shadowy Figure

At the time I was searching for an apartment, my daughter also needed to move out of her apartment. I found the perfect place, in a big house that was converted into several apartments. We took the tour of the one at the lower right side of the house. We parked in the back, and used the back door to enter a large kitchen; I immediately fell in love with it.

Off of the kitchen to the right was the long narrow bathroom and to the left was a small living room. To the left of the living room was an extra large master bedroom, which I got an eerie feeling when I entered it, but quickly brushed it off as we left the room.

To the left of the living room was another small room with beautiful French doors. When I found out my daughter's boyfriend would also be moving in, I gave them the master bedroom and I crammed into the room with the French doors.

About a month later I started seeing a shadowy blur, or more like a gray fog, which at that time I knew was a spirit often rush past the door inside of the master bedroom, I just credited it to the possibly wandering of spirits from the cemetery a block up the road. I didn't feel and fear, and neither my daughter nor her boyfriend mentioned it, so I didn't worry about it.

One morning about 5:00 a.m., I walked into the living room heading for the bathroom as usual, and saw a shadowy, gray fog figure, shaped like the mythical imp demon. It clumsily hobbled as if its right hind leg was shorter than the left, and its left front leg was shorter than the right coming out of the master bedroom. I was used to seeing the shadowy things so I paid little attention to it until I had forgotten something. I turned to go back into my bedroom and noticed the figure seemed to back up. I retrieved the item from my room and the figure was in the living room in front of the master bedroom door. I consciously watched it out of the corner of my eye while facing straight ahead of me. It seemed to stay on the other side of the room exactly opposite me. I tested it and stepped forward the back and it stayed opposite me each time moving back and forth with me.

It was at this time that I realized I have never been so physically close (only two arm lengths away) to one of these shadowy figures and I've never seen one as an imp shape. I froze; I could see fairly clearly, a side view of the back of its head, its body, and tail. I wanted to get a better look and fear of the unknown arose at the idea of looking directly at it; wondering if you are supposed to look directly at these things and if I did would it have red glowing eyes that would freak me out. Since it seemed to match my movements would it look at me and freak me out or attack.

I overcame my 'what if fear' since the creature itself did not scare me and slowly turned my head in its direction. It did not face me; if stood there frozen in time, giving me the impression of an animal playing dead or a child with the idea 'maybe she won't see me' I don't know. Anyway at this point, it appeared to be shaped like a large lion with an unkempt mane. The body still on all fours did not show any straggling hairs/fur the tail, and it had no glowing eyes.

After about a half a minute, I turned my head back enough to still have somewhat of a visual as I moved toward the bathroom, it moved toward my room. In the straight path it was traveling it would have gone through the wall and into my room. After showering and getting dressed I needed to get back into my room. I slowly opened the door and looked on the side of the room it would have been and didn't see it. I looked around the rest of the room and saw nothing out of the ordinary. I step into the room, there was nor weird feelings. I went about my day as usual, but never forgot what I saw. I saw it often passing through the living room at different time of the day.

Most of my immediate family has seen a paranormal image (I call it the gift of sight) so I asked my daughter if she ever saw any ghosts in the apartment. She said yes and described it as a huge dog. I didn't think to ask her where in the apartment she saw it, is she was alone when she saw it, even if others were in others parts of the apartment, or if any of her company saw anything.

Just a thought. It appears that there are different non-human entities on different parts of the world and it seems that they are not crossing each other's territories. Do they have a rule not to set foot to other territories? Can someone explain or provide a link on how these entities' rules if any?

Hi Chelleck I liked your story. I have come across imps/goblins before but I was never frightened they just seemed to be curious about me for whatever reason. When I have seen them (which is not very often at all and usually out of the corner of my eye), they were hairless, naked, and either brown or green with long pointy ears that stuck out more to the sides then straight up. I remember they were about 12" tall and usually hung out in a little group with human like features that were overly exaggerated. I never tried to talk to them but I've seen the same group I believe off and on for a little over 5 years now in different houses so I believe they follow me but only pop in once in a while on a rare occassion. Maybe what you have seen was some sort of nature spirit, because the little ones I've seen really remind me of that.

Kisho,

I agree, It was just weird to see a shadowy figure that didn't appear to be human.

To me it sounds like the thing's just a spirit in your place that wanders about and does it's own thing, and decided that day to be a little playful. Generally speaking, evil things cause unconditional fear, the fact that you were little more than curious about it means it was probably neutral, and likely feeling the same way.

megankay,

It was a little nerve wracking at first. Then it nor me seemed to bother one another.

TwistedWispersNeko,

That was the conclusion I came up with too, that it was just the normal route it had been taking long before I got there.

Well, I have to be honest... I'm blind without my glasses, and would have passed it off as some thing some one put in there. Since it didn't say anything about it causing any problems, I'm guess its just its normal route to get some where. Maybe it likes the apartment as much as you do. 😆

Martin,

I am acknowledging your comment as well.

Also, I do not want iwerewolf to be offended in any way.

whitebuffulo,

You are welcome and correct about how certain things are simply assumed.

whitebuffalo, you're not the only one who got a chuckle out of these posts between chelleck and iWereWolf. 😆

I have to say something, and I bet that no one is going to expect this comment. I was reading through what the others have commented on and I HAVE to say that I got a chuckle out of iWereWolf's comment about not being able to easily understand white people. But I fully laughed OUT LOUD when I read YOUR response, chelleck. That was so tactful, and not drawn out, you got right to the point.
But it also got me thinking.
Often times when we read through the stories that others post to this site, how many times are we actually ASSUMING something that has not been stated?
How many times, while we can not see them, do we think something about a person or their experience that we have met while on this site, and found it to be totally off base?
In a sense, we are ALL Unknowns, in a discussion ABOUT the Unknown. And to assume that someone is what they are not, or even what we think they are, can leave damaging comments. On both sides.
I just wanted to say thank you or not taking offence, and for handling something as simple as a wayward comment with eloquence and grace.
That shows a bit of character there.
Thank you.

Frawin,

It was like a curious animal, the day I wrote about in the story.

The other times I saw it afterwards, neither it nor I paid any attention to each other. It just seem to be one of its regular paths to travel.

Also thank you for the information about other worldly animals.

mustang,

Thank you for reading my story. I was not aware when I wrote it that there were good AND bad imps. Now that I know better, I do not feel it was demonized either.

hiarki,

I do not think that I would have tried to contact it in any way. I have never even thought of trying to contact a spirit.

I have spoke (in my thoughts) to my grandmother that past a few years ago and said things like. "Why haven't you come to me yet; I been waiting for a sign from you", but never took any measures (professional of otherwise) to contact her.

I assumed her spirit was at rest.

I agree with you whitebuffalo that it was just passing through. I saw it a quite a few times after that but it simply walked as if the living room of the apartement was its regular route to stroll.

i agree with whitebuffalo, but it is better to leave it alone rather than trying to contact or anything with it. Unless you have some unusual activities going on then that is something to be concern. In all, if there are no problems with it being around having a good behavior then just let it running around as it willed, nothing to be fear of.

"...since the creature itself did not scare me..." "...giving me the impression of a child with the idea 'maybe she won't see me'..." These are YOUR words, chelleck.
Now here are mine. The interesting thing about Imps is that they have two sides, and two groups of beings.
On the one side there is the demonic, evil, attendants of the devil. On the other side of the family are the imps that are usually described as mischievous more than seriously threatening, and as lesser beings rather than more important supernatural beings. They are lonely creatures in search of friendship and companionship, and as capable of being turned to good, as opposed to bad, because they are so desperately lonely they would do almost anything - even commit good deeds - to have a committed friend.
There was no demon in the new place. I feel that it WAS an Imp, but a good one, as it was also a shape shifter. I truly feel that there is no need to worry any further, however; as the Imp was just passing through.
Thank you.

I'm not in that apartment anymore, it has nothing to do with the spirits. It was a while ago. That particular entity just struck my curiosity.

Hi chelleck. I would have to agree with FRAWIN on this one. I do not think that it was a demon.

Hello Chelleck. I found your story extremely interesting. I had to read it several times before I could come to a conclusion. Please keep in mind that this is only my opinion, take it for what it's worth.
I do not believe that you saw a demon or a spirit/ghost.I feel that if it were a wandering spirit the experience would have been different and it it were a demon it would have been more aggressive. The way you described it actions they were like a curious animal. It was as cautious of you as you were of it. I believe that you caught a glimpse of an otherworldly animal that accidentally "bleed" over into our reality.

FRAWIN 😊

I don't quite know what to say... In your story you say it is an 'imp demon'. Regardless of past sightings, feelings or ANYTHING else, living with s demon of any kind is not a good idea!

God Bless!

Hi Chelleck. I think its the first time I have seen you here But I found your story so interesting I'm going to read your other ones. I understand that you didn't feel fear when you saw the entity. I understand that. I have seen things to but I always think in a rational way. Rarely wasd I scared because I tried figuring out what it was. But you knew what that was and you found it very interesting. If I knew it was a spirit I would run away 😜.For one moment I even thought the spirit was afraid of you 😜.I found this story very interesting. Next time try using a camera. You might find more then meets the eye. Thanks for sharring. I hope to hear from you soon and take care

This sounds nice like an imp. But still its a lost spirit in your home chelleck, so I suggest you don't disturb it.

Hope that spirit leaves by its own...
