The Twisty Tie Lady

During '03, my Mom and my step Dad had purchased a condo in NE Ohio, only about 15 minute east of where we lived. I had only lived there for a brief stint being a senior in high school, I was planning on moving out right after school had finished. The development actually became condemned in the summer of '05 due to a flood, but that's not relevant.

My Mom had purchased the condo off one of her friends' (Mother, I believe) who had recently passed away (in the condo) from natural causes. I had never met her but from what I have heard, she was a nice lady. She also had dabbled in Witch craft and black magic. I do not know the level of her involvement, but I think it's safe to say she was not a witch and had no purpose in "casting spells" to harm anyone. Perhaps it was just one of her side hobbies that interested her.

Anyway, she had left a lot of her furniture behind. Her family had no use for it, so my parents decided to keep some her belongings which included a couch, a couple small coffee tables and some picture frames that were hand painted that remained in the living room walls. The paintings themselves were just your typical mountain landscapes, and one that featured a Native American Indian. These paintings were nothing too flashy or creepy looking. However sometimes, I would notice that late at night while on the couch, that the cat and dog we owned would sometimes stare off into them, a wide-eyed, almost trance-like stare. This left me with chills.

While we never saw the proof, we had reason to believe that the condo was be haunted. It wasn't your usual orbs or flickering lights that led our suspicion, but Twisty Ties. Yes, as in the ones that come with loaves of bread you buy at the store. Every now and then, we would find these random twisty ties scattered about throughout our home. (Chilling, yes I know). Of course our first suspect was the cat. Then they would start popping up in random places, almost strategically placed for you to notice. I would be finished vacuuming, walk over to put the vacuum away, turn around, and find one in the middle of the living room floor. Exactly where I JUST finished cleaning. Other times, you would find one in the medicine cabinet. On one occasion, I found one under my sheets crawling into bed. (That one did freak my out!) I've even had one wrapped around my tooth brush.

This occurred on a regular basis, and did occur enough times while home alone to rule out one of my parents pulling pranks.

They would always be bent into different shapes, but nothing to specific. After about 2 years of this, I decided to check into it online, thinking maybe they had some significance to black magic. I did not find anything. After asking my Mom, she told me that when the lady was alive, it became a little inside joke between her and daughter to save all her twisty ties for further use. I don't remember all the details exactly, but it was a fun spirit to have around the house.

Anyone else have something like this?

I just had to come back to this story, it's been stuck in my head for a week. Last weekend I was cleaning out the kitchen drawers and I found what could only be considered the motherlode of twistie-ties. I don't know how long they've been there, could be a year? Anyway, a lot of them must have come in boxes of kitchen garbage can liners or something because they were jammed way in the back and when I went to pull them out it was like a clown car for twistie-ties! And I've been thinking about your story ever since. πŸ˜† Oh well, thanks for the story it gave me the giggles πŸ˜†

Heh, thanks guys. I'm glad you like the story. I did collect the twisty ties and kept them in my night stand drawer. Unfortunately, the condo was condemned a couple years ago after a flood. They were planning on rebuilding them, but never got around to it. But everytime I see a twisty tie, it brings a smile to my face!:D

this spirit will not rest, until you collect all those twisty ties and make the worlds biggest twisty tie ball with them... Guinness book of world records style. 😊

Hi there! Very nice story. Why not try to keep all the twisty ties that you fnd in your house. The lady might want you to do that and you might need it in the future.

Great story! Going right into my faves. 😊 I like to hear quirky little ghost stories like this. Something as simple as saving the twisty ties while this lady was alive has now become her way of communicating from the other side. That's truely amamzing. Thank you for sharing this with us ❀

I really liked this story... Twisty ties! That is funny. I agree with Miracles, she defiantly does have a sense of humor. I wish I had a ghost like that around. It takes an act of god just to make my Husband put the twisty ties back on the bread! Just joking:) Great story
