Strange Vision: Does Anyone Know What I Saw?

I don't know if this counts as a proper "ghost" story, I don't even know if I what I saw was a ghost because - and I am not by any means an expert on ghosts, in fact I never even believed in them before - I thought the definition of a ghost was a dead person who's spirit comes back. But I just need to know what people think.

So, today, me and one of my best friends went to a cafe for lunch. We see each other every day and always go to the same cafe so I wasn't expecting anything strange to happen. We were going to meet inside the cafe and she got there first. I saw her sat at a table, alone, on the other side of the room. Just as I looked at her, she saw me and smiled and waved at me. Straight after she waved, a small group of people passed in front of her table so I couldn't see her any more. As I walked over to the table, the group of people who passed in front of her sat down in front of me so I couldn't see her table again. I carried on walking towards her table but when I got there, she wasn't there.

I looked around for a few seconds, confused, thinking I had walked to the wrong table because there was no sign of her or her bags etc. Then I looked all around me and when I saw the other side of the cafe which was at least about 30 feet or so away from me (and to the far left of where I was standing). I saw my friend. She was sat there with all her bags and reading a book.

Her hair was completely straight. When I saw her a few seconds earlier, her hair had been curly (it's naturally curly but she nearly always straightens it). By this time I was scared. I told her everything and she said she had been sat where she was then for about 10 minutes and hadn't moved at all.

Does anyone know what I saw?

One theory that hasn't been mentioned is that of a multiversal leak. This could have been her friend, but as she is in another closely parallel dimension. Science has led credence to the multiversal theory.

Darkness, Just because Victoria13 perceived her friend as smiling and waving at HER doesn't mean it was meant for her (Victoria13). If, as I theorised earlier, it was a residual type haunting it would matter not who was standing in the spot Victoria13 was at that moment, the smile and wave would have played out even if the room were empty. Isn't that the basic premise of a residual haunting? If I'm wrong please correct me as I'd hate to make the same mistake in the future. (lol, would that then make me a residual?) Deane

Oh, and the fact that Victoria#2 had the "wavy" hair and waved at her is another one if those hmmm moments. [Victoria13] Any chance you could answer the questions posed in the previous post? It may help. Thank you, Deane

Well you've got me there, plus, after rereading the story, I see that I incorrectly assumed they met at the same time daily when the author actually said they "see each other daily and always go to the same cafe" without mentioning time of day (morning, noon, night) or 'where' they see each other daily (work, cafe, home). So now I'm not so sure, hmmmm... That really does make this a head scratcher! Where did they see each other daily? The author made a point about them deciding to meet indoors but, still, not if this was out of their ordinary behavior. Very interesting little conundrum I must admit,Darkness. Most definetly something to think about. πŸ˜•

Sorry DC I meant when Victoria13 first walked into the Cafe, she had seen her friend with curly hair and Victoria was acknowledged with a wave and a smile. What I am trying to understand is, that if this was resembling something residual in time and nature, do you think that Victoria would have been acknowledged to begin with? πŸ˜• Normally with something residual its a repeat and has nothing to do with the living and physical plane. Hope I havnt confused everyone with this haha! πŸ˜†

That could have been 'devine' (lol) coincidence there. Who knows what would have occurred had she been 2mins early or late. OR if the friend had looked up from her book at that same moment and saw herself sitting there?

The friend was already there at another table "reading a book", most likely with her head pointed downward. When you think about it, it's not that much of a stretch to see how they missed each other on her first pass through the room.

Victoria13: Sounds just like a Doppleganger or shadow self. These things have been around for years and years. Many people have seen them and experienced them. It is unknown if they project themselves when a person get's really tired and run down or maybe under a lot of stress or if for some reason their spirit just leaves the body for a while. This phenomenom is very strange, scary and just plain weird, but true!
Thanks for sharing your story!

Hmmm I'm with you on that theory DC, although if it was residual in nature do you think her friend would acknowledge her at that exact same time she walked in to the cafe? πŸ˜• This is a good melon scratcher lol! 😊

OK, bear with me on this one.I'm thinking residual, future type haunting. You said you see each other every day, go to the same cafe at the same time of day also. She's already been imprinted (or recorded) in that place at that specific time of day doing what you two do daily. So instead of this imprint/recording waiting for years to pass before going to playback it just got started earlier than expected. πŸ˜‰

It does have the characteristics of a Doppelganger, as Zorforler has mentioned these beings take the form of a friend or relative that is known to you. Reasons behind this we are unsure of but old theories mention that if you see one of someone you know, they are meant to have bad luck coming to them, and to see your own is a death omen. I don't look to much into these theories though.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, my friend actually said to me today that she thought it could have been her in the future or something!

It may have been a doppleganger a type of spirit that takes the form of you or someone you know. They will either give you a warning or try to take you away. At least that's what I know about them.

Sounds like you may have had a timeslip; an event in which you may have seen her in either a future or past time.
