Grandma?

In the year of 2000 my grandma (my dad's mom) passed away in the Philippines. I remember that night when it happened too. My father received a phone call from his brother, Steve. A few moments later my dad called all of us down stairs. He said, "Your grandma, Conception passed away last night. I'm going to be attending her funeral and staying in the Philippines for a week."

I felt bad and wished I could have accompanied my father but tickets were so expensive so I had to stay. I met my grandma once but I can barely remember. I was 6 years old at the time. But my mother told me what she was like when she was alive. She said, "Your grandma Conception was very kind hearted and would help those who were in poverty. She was also a teacher."

After one week passed, my father returned home. He brought home goodies and a bunch of pictures that his relatives gave him. I was so happy to have my father back home. That night I ended up passing out on my parent's bed. I was in a deep sleep but then suddenly I woke up to my mom calling my name. I checked the time and it was 3 am. So I got out of bed and ran downstairs. It was pitch black. I could not find my mother anywhere so I thought she was playing a trick on me. I looked everywhere for her (kitchen, garage and bathroom) but she was nowhere to be seen. After that I ran upstairs and went back to bed.

Then for the second time I heard my mom call me downstairs again. I rushed downstairs. But still she was nowhere to be seen. I went back upstairs and found my parents sound asleep on the floor across from the bed. I thought that was weird. Two times I passed them on the way out to the hallway but I did not see them.

Freaked out I ran to my parent's bed and buried myself underneath the blanket. Then out of nowhere I heard someone calling my name but this time it was in the room with me. I tried ignoring it but whoever it was kept calling my name. Then I felt a soft touch on my head. I sat up in bed and looked at who was touching me. What I saw was a white shadowy figure but I remember I could see right through it. When it sensed that I was looking at it, it said my name! I ran to the other side of the room to turn on the lights. I looked back and the shadowy figure was gone. I started crying and called out for my parents. My mom walked over to where I was and said, "Anak (child), what's wrong?"

Me: "I think I saw grandma."

Mom: "Come on, let's go to sleep."

It took me awhile to shut my eyes because I was afraid that shadowy figure was going to appear again. But a few seconds later I felt a sense of peace and fell asleep. The next day I told my dad what happened. He said, "Yep, that was your grandma. Since you did not come to her funeral she wanted to come visit you for the last time."

After hearing what my father had to say I was no longer afraid. I realized she was just letting me know that she was there.

Oohhh I'm Filipino too! And both of my grandmas (from each side if the family) just died around the same time about a month ago. But anyways that sort of thing happened to me. Well I was brushing my teeth in the morning and the glass fogged up, I was confused but wiped it with my hand and it was like I felt someone elses hand through the mirror! When I took my hand away I realized the fog didn't come off. I felt strangely comfortable instead of scared and could hear a Filipino song my grandma always sang. Then I heard I love you from a voice that sounded like my OTHER grandma then I mahal Kita (I love you) from my Filipino grandmas voice. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has something like this with them

twisted_individual: A very touching story, your Grandma sounded like a very nice person. I also believe she wanted to come say goodbye to you one last time, my Grandma has also done this and from time to time I still feel her presence with me. A very special feeling indeed. 😊

Thanks for sharing.
