My family has been experiencing the spirit of a little girl since the early 90's. It began when I was little. My mother was out the front of our house when she thought she saw me in a red dress run up the driveway and in the the back yard. She didn't think much of it until later that day when she realized I didn't have a red dress. Mum was a bit freaked out and didn't see her again. We moved to many places since that happened and mum thought it was a once off or the spirit belonged to the house.
In 2000, my mum divorced her husband and we moved to a small house on the outskirts of town. A year later she fell pregnant with my sister. She was in the shower trying to sooth her back pain when she heard a long drawn out "MUUUUUUM." She hopped out the shower and came to find out what I wanted, but I was next door talking with the neighbors. When she told me about it I just shrugged it off as her imagination (while I grew up believing in spirits I don't freak out at every noise).
Not long after my baby sister was born I started hearing the little girl too. I would hear her giggle. My CD player volume would go up and down, but it was all in fun so I just accepted it as a part of life. One night when our little ghostly house guest was making herself known, mum and I both had it pop in to our heads that her name was Emily. Now, when she got too much we would say her name and ask her to stop and she would. We ended up moving out of that house and I became an unruly teen so we never really noticed if she came with us or not.
Life went on and she seemed to be forgotten. That was until I grew up and moved out of home with my boyfriend in 2008. We just happened to move into the home mum saw Emily on the drive way. One early morning we got home from clubbing around 4:00 a.m. My boyfriend fell asleep and I just lay there listening to the silence when I heard little feet shuffle up the driveway and to the carport. It sounded like a child was running around the car and smacking the panels. It went on for about 10 minutes and freaked me out a bit.
Later that week I woke up to the sound of a little child singing in my living room. When she finished, I heard her say "I love you." It didn't scare me but made me feel warm and fuzzy to know that she was glad I was back in this house.
She also seemed to take a liking to my boyfriend and has a sense of humor too. I used to keep a bowl of lollies up on top of my fridge. One night when we went to bed there on my boyfriend's side of the bed was my heart shaped pencil eraser and one of the lollies on top of the fridge. He freaked out a bit but I couldn't stop laughing because the brand of lolly was Ghost Drops.
My partner was working on his car when he lost his grip on the tool he was holding and he heard it hit the side of the garage. When he looked for it, it wasn't there. He stomped back to the car and there was the tool sitting on the passenger seat. That was the moment he realized I wasn't crazy and started to believe in Emily.
I fell pregnant with my son in 2011 and we haven't seen or heard of Emily since and a huge part of me misses her. I hope that if she has gone she has moved on to the afterlife.
