I don't know whether what I've experienced was real or just my imagination, but similar experiences has been felt by my room mates too.
I study in Cuttack, Odisha. I've not got any college hostel due to no vacancy, I booked a private hostel. The hostel is a part of Cuttack's first ever hotel, it is 150 years old. After renovation, the ground floor is converted into hostel and first floor remained hotel.
When I first went to that hotel, the ground floor was yet to be renovated. So the hotel authorities booked a hotel room as my temporary staying arrangement. As this hotel is too old, generally very less visited by customers. In the first floor, there's a room. It is never locked but I haven't seen any hotel authorities to go inside the room. The sweeper regularly visits the hotel for cleaning each and every room at 8 am but I've never seen even the sweeper to go inside.
Once, I was just wondering what the room consists of. So I undo the bolt and went inside. Inside I saw many documents and a big portrait of a person. I don't know whose portrait was that but it looked very old. To my great surprise, the room was very clean like it is regularly visited by some sweeper for cleaning. I also asked the owner's younger brother about the room so he simply asked me to stay away from the room.
That night, when I was sleeping in my room, I heard someone was breathing heavily. As the sound suggested, I could clearly make it out that someone is sleeping just beside me. I was really scared and screamed and turned back but found no one.
After that incident, I asked the owner to shift my room and he asked me to shift in the ground floor as the rooms on the ground floor were ready to use.
Next, for many days, I've not experienced any paranormal activity. But one day, I was to go outside for dinner. I switched off my room light and fan and went out with my friends. I'm sure, as we are the only residents in that hostel, no other student resides in the ground floor except us. When we came back, we saw the light was glowing and fan was on.
I've not told that strange thing to my friends either. That night, we all the room-mates were discussing about the experience of the college life and hostel. To my great surprise, everyone has experienced some kind of haunting. One has even claimed to see someone in the hostel courtyard at night. When he approached that person, the person vanished.
After such experiences, few questions are arising that (a) why the hostel authorities warned me to stay away from that room? (b) why that room is so clean when no one enters the room? It must have at least dust and few spider-webs, (c) who switched on the light and fan when we were out? The key is only with us, not even with any hostel authority.
