Old Stone Home in Fryeburg, Maine

While living in the state of Maine, my 2 sons and I headed up the road to look in an old apple orchard to shoot a deer. Outside the orchard was an old stone home. Across from it was a fallen down barn. The boys and I walked over the old barn. There was "some" snow on the ground, not a whole lot. As we got directly across from the driveway of the house - we could see the trees out back. Behind the trees was a large pond, something caught my eye in the side window of the house. It was a large woman in a apron, leaning on the table there and smiling at us. I told the boys we should go and ask her if it was alright to cut through her yard to go behind and into the orchard.

We walked across the street and knocked on the door, noticing immediately that there was no furniture in the house. I walked around to the side window. There was a old table there in front of the window, all dusty "with NO hand marks" where the woman had been leaning. Also, NO footprints around the house in the snow! We saw her for quite sometime before crossing the dirt road. She was there! But - not a real person at all...

She was a real ghost. We later learned that the house was empty because of this woman who had haunted it for many years. The house has been torn down, no one could ever live in it. It was in Fryeburg, Maine. There was a very - very haunted house near Bridgton, Maine, about 8 miles from this one. The owner offered $100 to anyone who could spend the night in it, no one ever did while I lived up there!

Strange, but true.

Enjoy

Hi top,
I have been posting on this site on behalf of the Penn State Paranormal Research Society. They are a large organization that helps people in need or paranormal intervention. They are an accomplished group that literally tours the country helping people. Although the case you're describing is a little out the normal PRS range, if the homeowner is still interested, they may be able to help.
PRS will be visiting the Maine area in the next 2 weeks and we actually have someone there for the next 2 days visiting another family. If you are interested in any help or advice, please contact me asap at pahaunted [at] yahoo.com
We are here to help...

I look forward to hearing from you,

David

Dear top,

I like your story and that it takes place in the U.S. State of Maine. I am partial to Maine. I also like your description of the large woman in the apron, leaning on the table and smiling at you. She does not "feel" like a haunting threat to me, but more like a nurturing, motherly figure or ghost. She is just re-living her 3D physical life in her home, a place that was a happy comfort and good, living memory for her.

I would gladly take that $100 bet and stay at that place, but with inflation, and the high cost of gasoline, I would have to have more than $100 to make it worth while. 😉 BUT, I do like Maine, and when it comes to the paranormal, my curiosity always does get the best of me, and I end up doing things for free. I am such a sucker when it comes to the "unknown". 😊

I appreciate your story. Blessings, Abby

very intriguing story.
what did your boys think of the encounter?
i would not tempt anyone or anything trying to spend the nught in an evil house that does not want you there, that's just me though, I think I have spent enough nights with evil entities out of necessity, I couldn't do it on a dare.

Once I return to the states and I get settled back in, I may just do that. I don't frighten easily and I am not afraid of dark beings or evil entities so who knows. My luck is that it is probably no longer there or the current owners don't want people out there for fear of being sued. But thank you for responding to my comment. It is always nice to have the author of the stories staying in touch with its readers.

Peace, Love, and Luck be with you.

Well...There were 2 brothers who thought so too -- when I lived there... They went there with Shotguns --- thinking that someone was going to play pranks on them...
Well...it all went to heck in a hand basket for sure -- they ran out of the house and never went back...! They are 2 tough --big boys... Over 200 pounds each...
No - I do not think you would have made the night there...
Go to Bridgton, Maine -- and ask about the Haunted house just outside of town... Towards Freyberg... Other side of Moose Pond... If it is still standing -- try to stay the night !
Good luck.!

Wow, I would loved to have taken the owners money from them on that bet. I have no doubt that what you saw was more than likely the apparition of the homes first owner. Who, did not want to share her home with anyone. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

Peace, Love, and Luck be with you.
