[at] mountaineer good point!
Moongrim says he is against religious stuff being used in posts, stories and comments plus in his profile calls them "god-gobbers" but boy he knows has quotes!
Could he be that kind of person who hates his own thoughts and beliefs that much that he needs to attack others for what they believe?

[at] Moongrim: Charlatan seems to be your favorite word. And even if you do get annoyed by people including their religion in their stories, that is no excuse to disrespect their faith by making snide remarks such as "your 'holy' ghost.". I find it interesting that you feel the need to emphasize your lack of religion even more than theists emphasize that they have one. The fact is, religion makes life easier and it often plays a large role. So people will, inevitably, include it in their stories. And no matter how much it makes your skin crawl, I will pray for you tonight.

My curiosity has been piqued by this piece. Did you post this to help people understand your use of the cards as a Christian? I thought you were heading towards a story with your account of drawing the World card, but if I understand properly that was just part of your process of coming to a greater understanding of your spiritual practice. I am going to go read the story you reference but I am really curious about what you are "getting at," for lack of a better term, here.

now can I just make a small observation here?
You, moongrim are preaching! Your using bible refferences to back up your excuse for not likeing rook, in almost every reply to my questions you have done exactly what you accuse rook of doing π²
I don't think you know why your going at rook but you are doing it and a lot more than rook ever has!
And strangely even though I admit to using the cards myself you have not bothered to ask what if any religion I follow!
Your personaly having a go at rook for whatever reason you think you have. I don't think it has anything to do with religion but that is something you have found to use as an excuse.
How sad is that!

The words of the Christ that so many claim to emulate:
"Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God." (2 Peter 20-21 NAB)
"For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:18-19 RSV)
Pick and choose?

you say meny of then not all of them.
Rook is christian I can say that with total conviction.
So the main thing you have against him is that he uses tarot cards and says he is christian?
What happened to love thy fellow man?
Does that only count when he is doing what you expect him to be doing, with your "rules" coming from the bible?
I was not getting at the point of the deck of cards comming from the tarot but good point anyway.
I was going down another thought rought but no matter.

Just because someone is "Christian", doesn't mean they necessarily follow every piece if text in the Bible... For some, its more about the spirituality, rather than whether or not something is "legal".

Of such lawyering we end up with a hundred thousand laws...
What others do with it- is up to them. Rook is supposedly a Xtian. OF which many of them are admonished to avoid even touching them, because of their long history and associaton for divination. Is he Christian or not?
Christians are also admonished to not make predictions concerning when the 'End Times' begin. Yet every year we hear the same thing.
No I do not play cards. Solitaire on a computer is about the most I've ever played. And yes I'm full aware of the fact that the modern day set is but a circumscion of the original tarot.

but a tarot reading is not like its set in concrete, its what COULD happen if they do what they plan to do but the reading should only be used as a guide and only as a guide not what will happen no matter what so in that sence its advice nothing more!
Like the advice you give on here to someone its your advice they don't have to accept it or follow it.
Again ever played patience? Card game goes from king to ace? Red black, red black you know the one?

Tarot Cards are Divination.
"When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead" (Deuteronomy 18:9-11).

sorry but that's a misconception tarot is nothing to do with mediums or necromancy a tarot reading does not contact the dead in any way shape or form I know I read tarot myself.
Its fortune telling nothing to do with the dead.
Do you play patience?

What I have against him is what I have against any other charlatan.
The man is another Peter Popoff. Someone who invented his 'holy land' experience, as a way of creating false credentials.
The man claims to be a 'good christian'.
Yet his own bible states QUITE CLEARLY:
Leviticus 19:31
"Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.
And many Christians are admonished to not dwell with Tarot Cards.
You'd think that the lesson of Harold Camping would have learned a few folks.
Obviously not.

Question for you
What exactly do you have against rook?
In the past few minutes you have posted on a few different stories and all of the comments are all aimed at him,
Accusing him of constantly marking you down on karma points~ the site stops this happening if marking up or down the same person so it can't JUST be rook (if it is him at all).
Being preachy ~ rook has always said does not want to come across like that and to be honest does not!
Have seen people that will just put the bible says this, the bible says that... And that's all is in there comments (that have since removed) this site "allows" religious comments but not ones that are concidered to be preaching to the masses.
Rook has helped a lot of people on this site with some very good advice and personaly too, so again what do YOU have against him?

oceansea,
Thank you for your question...
Actually I have not noticed a difference at all. There was a gap of some years between the deck that 'disappeared' and the purchase of my current one. When the one 'vanished'...
I was not yet a member of the Church... My current deck was bought by my Wife as a gift, she found an Italian on-line store and purchased it through them, and it was her gift to me after I was Ordained as a High Priest (Melchizedek Priesthood Holder) in the church we belong to. In a way it's interesting that my ex-wife bought my first Stairs of Gold deck and my Wife of 20 Years bought me my second Stairs of Gold Deck... Things that make you go hummm?)
As far as a difference goes, I have not noticed one. The deck even felt as it it fit my hand... And the cards are rather long...
They measure 2.75" wide by 5 3/16th" long. Now I'm not a piano player but I can use this deck without a problem. I use them as a tool as the images on the cards help me to understand and explain answers I have received through prayer.
I hope that answers your question.
Respectfully,
Rook

Rook,
This post is interesting and not preachy, so no need to worry about that.
I am wondering about the use of tarot cards when you are a Priesthood holder. Does it work for you better now being one or did it work better for you before? π

Moongrim,
I sign on after getting only 3.5 hours of sleep... And I check for comments on my stories and what am I met with...Yours...well here's my response. Away we go...
I admit, your right the only Spirit mentioned here is the Holy Spirit.
I admit that I was worried some people who read it would think it Preachy... Heck I even stated it, let me quote myself:
"I hope it doesn't come off as 'Preachy' but I give a heads up here at the beginning... I quote Scripture in this one to back up some of my points."
So having those things in mind let's look at the Paranormal Category the Mod/Editor that posted my story chose to post this in:
Paranormal Category: Psychic / Medium
So I fail to see the point your are trying to make... This is one of my experiences that involve 'Tools' used by Psychic's /Mediums. It has nothing to do with a Haunting, Demonic Possession... Incubus / Succubi, Ghosts / Spirits (Other than the Holy Spirit) or any other type of Paranormal Entity.
It fits better with-in other topics discussed here on this site such as Parapsychology and Psychic Phenomenon.
I do not know of any other Tarot Card readers that have used their deck to learn how to interact with the Paranormal / Spiritual World. I left out quite a few details. Details such as:
This deck taught me how to cast a Love Spell...
The spell worked and the Gentleman a Female Friend of mine was attracted to, but showed no interest in her, was drawn to her when I used the method revealed by the cards... I also learned from this same experience how to reverse this spell, again taught to me by the cards (he became abusive and had to go). As well as to NOT muddle in / with anybodies FREE WILL because the consequences are never good when you do.
So please do not try to drag my own 'arguments' onto one of My Experiences and try to 'discredit' it using them. If you really are attempting to 'de-bunk' my experience please check and double check all your points because You must be absolutely sure your right... When you are, and you make your point I will give you full credit... But I will not, cannot do so until you, or anyone else, has Proven their point. When that happens I will Gladly admit it and give the individual full credit.
Respectfully,
Rook

Other than your 'Holy' Ghost, what exactly does this have to do with a ghost story? Or a personal haunting? You're correct, this does sound preachy.
Well good for you, but I've found I can tell right from wrong without any magic cards, or invisible spirits...

It is fascinating. I did not know this sort of stuff was in any way a connection to the Holy Spirit! I now realise that His name does have 'spirit' in it, after all, and I shouldn't be as surprised as I am to know He probably does have a role amidst this, and here I was thinking what I thought was a sin in perspective, lol.

What sparked my interest was my first encounter... I was eight years old at the time:
From there my interest in what I had experienced grew and I began to read all the non-fiction books on the topic of Ghosts and Spirits that I could. As I got older I broke away from the Church (Baptist/ Roman Catholic at the time, I went with either one of my Grandmothers... Ended up telling the Baptist Minister 'off'. I'd rather read Scripture and Pray for understanding than be 'told what it means').
I continued to study the Bible, say my Prayers and kept my Faith in Heavenly Father while I explored different Religions and Methods of Practicing. I was inspired to use cards for 'reading people'...I started with a regular deck of cards (I was about 13 at this time)...this lead me to 'fortune telling decks'... My very first deck like this was based on Egyptian Mythology... And wasn't very good (The deck not the Mythology...) My experience with that deck however lead my to study the Tarot... And that lead me to my first Tarot deck the Rider Waite deck. From here I moved into the Study of Wicca and became a Solo Practitioner... Once again I had found 'organized' groups just weren't my thing, again I was being told what different things represented or meant and that just didn't 'feel' right to me.
So, let's break it down, by the time I was 15 years old I was a Well Read, Christ Believing, Solo Practitioner of Wicca who was about to get a taste of the 'dark side'.
During my Sophomore Year (I was 17 at my Graduation) I met a Girl (isn't that always the case) That practiced the 'Dark Arts'...not quite a Satanist but very dark and heavy stuff... Just short of 'blood sacrifice' type things. We, being opposites worked well together and saw/did some pretty wild things. Here's an example:
(http://www.yourghoststories.com/real-ghost-story.php?story=4364 I called her Paula in this experience...)
'Paula' has sense 'converted' and now walks in the light... A long Non-Paranormal tale, not to be told here.
All of which leads us to this experience of mine... During my research, learning and practicing the cards became my 'connection' to the spirit (Holy Ghost)...I have sense learned that I do not truly need them, but I also 'know' that my place is to reach out to people in ways that are not so 'hardcore and in your face'. My 'position' is as a bridge between, if that makes any sense. I make things easy to understand and show that some things are not as 'Evil' as certain types of Christians would have folks believe. That a belief in the Paranormal is not, nor does it make someone 'Evil'. Remember not every thing that goes 'BUMP' in the night is a Demon (Wolf, Wolf, There's a Wolf!). π
Respectfully,
Rook

Thank you, your response means a lot to me. I could ask a billion questions and more but I shall refrain from that, haha. I was reading a "preachy" text on depression and it mentions finding God through prayer is a personal journey so I guess I'll just travel where the river flows, hey. He will probably be found in my mind, body, soul and right by my side as always. I do wonder why you use your tools. Why? Also, what sparked your interest in this subject?

Rook: Great post mate, and what a card to receive "The World", perfection, success, completion etc!
It clearly shows that you still have a great love for God, the way you have intertwined things in your life and held your faith whilst using the Tarot aswell in my opinion is showing you exactly what you are destined for which is the meaning of The World card.
Thank you for sharing this Rook.

p-a-s-d-e-c-h-e-v-a-l,
Please do not feel lost... While your path may not lay clear before you it is there and if you keep your Faith Strong Heavenly Father and His Son will walk it with you.
We are here, Spiritual Beings having a Physical Experience, so that we may learn. We have 'free will' to choose right from wrong and we have been granted a right proper tool for helping us figure out which is which...
It's called the power of Prayer...I'm sure, at your age, that your being exposed to many, many things... Both good and bad... Take some time... Step away for a day or two... Pick a week-end... And simply ASK... I've quoted Matthew 7 / 7:8 enough times around here... And used it's advice plenty of times myself to know that if you are sincere your Prayers will be answered.
Enough of this here... I try not to be too Preachy here on site... Please contact me via my e-mail address in my profile and we can continue this conversation if you wish. Or leave a comment here if you have Questions about why I 'use the tools' I do.
Be well, take care.
Respectfully,
Rook

rook interesting post thanks for adding this one
(and it's not too preachy honestπ)
It does sound as though these cards did as they said and they taught you how you were "needed" in the world.
Like I said in a comment on your other story they had done all they could before moving on.
But at least they opened you to the world and those who have been helped by you, bless you for all the good you have done.

I tend to turn away from those who find it convenient to jump from the Old Testament to the New Testament, quoting random scripture as if they actually do know any besides those few they lean on like a crutch. The first clue of their cluelessness is quoting Leviticus, that is a crutch for atheist Christianity stompers. You see that, just turn away, it's not worth the reply.
The second is their sudden jump to the New Testament and the use of half-quotes. Most often from the Sermon on the Mount, and if they are feeling wordy enough, they'll drag something up from The Revelations.
Not worth the time or energy it takes to reply. It's all they know, and you'll see the same quotes just about every time they want to make you think they actually have an argument that will shut you up.
Smoke and Mirrors, that's all they've got. Let them have it if it shuts them up. π

~~PS~~ Rook has debunked those quotes more times than I can count. π π
