My niece did something very similar when she was about two: Climbed out of a crib, and out of a first floor window. Kids do amazing things! She got out of the house, played in the yard for a while, and then appeared at the sliding glass doors on the other side of the house and opened them to come back in before anyone knew she was missing!

You were so lucky someone found you! That, in my opinion, is the really amazing thing. I'd say you had a guardian entity looking out for you!
