I agree with Miracles and Granny. Plus, this site is addicting anyway, so imagine what happens when you throw in the compulsion to create fantasies?

granny - I think they are also like the pyromaniac who returns to the scene of the crime. They just can't resist.

majikmind: You stated, "I don't know why people would want to lie". It's not a matter of "wanting" to, they "have" to. It's a compulsion. Very much like a kleptomaniac has to steal and a hoarder must hoard, a mythomaniac must lie.

Scary scary stuff. I have known people who tell stories, but none as fantastic as the Heather Mills McCartney stories (one of the articles names her as a famous mythomaniac).
It is sad. Who has time to come up with these fantasies?

I did indeed Google mythomania, and it was very enlightening. Thanks for pointing that out, Granny. I had never heard of it before.

Bleakwaters: Unfortunately, I believe this person to be a fraud. This is their 3rd (at least) attempt at posting fiction, of course using different aliases. Do yourself a favor and Google "mythomania". It really is a pitiful circumstance. 😊

Ok, so maybe the story is fiction, but what if it isn't? I've heard of time slips before though nothing quite as extensive as what I just read. How many times have your own experiences been questioned? Let's not jump to conclusions. The writer could very well be telling the truth of course he could be lying too.

The entire time I was reading the story I couldn't help thinking... Godddd! That story is exactly like the scene from the movie... THE EYE starring jessica alba... She gets the new eye transplant and starts walking around and sits in a chinese cafe... And while she sits there the restaurant cathches fire from the kitchen and all... I think sebastian has an uncanny ability to be a fictional writer...:D

Anyone who puts that much time and effort into writing fiction for this site under a variety of aliases has a serious problem. What can he or she possibly gain from it?

I enjoyed your well written story! Though I do think its fiction 😆 you have a girlfriend who is an artist and writer? I'd say that you have a talent for writing yourself. 😊

I'm going to agree with zzsgranny and give this story a B for... Well I shouldn't say... I don't know why people would want to lie. Very strange. Whatever.

Argette, yep, today lots of places (like pizza joints, or take-outs) bottles and/or cans aren't that uncommon. But back in the 60's...I don't think so. I remember them serving mostly fountain drinks. And if you did buy a bottle you could return it for your nickle deposit. At least I think it was a nickle. 2 of my older brothers and I use to go around collecting them and we'd turn them in for pocket money. Personally I never got any of this money - the buggers would buy me off with 1 or 2 penny candies, or maybe a piece of Bazooka bubble gum. Geeze, big brothers, I tell ya...

Way to go, Granny! Good points. I suppose it is possible, but not very probable, to get Coca-Cola in a bottle in a cafe. I don't recall ever having it in a bottle in a restaurant - only when I bought it from a machine or had it at my Grandma's house. She used to buy a six-pack (I think) of those green bottles.

valkricry: Absolutely! My mom worked the lunch counter at our local Woolworth's LOL 😊. Wish I had some of those original glasses. 😊

zzsgranny - great catch! I was just thinking (kid in the 60's but still) on the rare occasions we did eat out, coke was served (in some places like Woolworths) in a 'coke' glass. It was broad at the top and narrow at the bottom. Kindof like a vase. And had Coca-Cola in raised letters on it. I remember the glass was thick and heavy. Do you recall those to?

Sebastian: Aside from the math and several other red flags, the thing that stands out to me and puts me in the "BS Blankie" tossing mood is the reference to the "Coca-Cola bottle". If you've ever owned, managed, or worked in a cafe/diner you'd understand how absurd it is to serve bottled pop. Not only is it not cost effective, but in a smaller venue storage space is critical. At the time this "cafe" was operational according to your story, they would have had to have additional space just to store the used, empty bottles, not to mention refrigeration space. Soda dispensers are much more economical for any business. They are, after all, there to make money.
Narella: Two names come to mind: MsWrestlersGhost and RollingStonesGhost. Uncanny the similarities, no? 😆

bizzjoe, what Rook and the others are pointing out are discrepencies - in the stories and profile. No one is saying the story isn't good, but this site is suppose to be for REAL accounts/ encounters. (I haven't read Sebastian's other story, nor his profile, yet, so I'll hold judgement.) It's just when someone does that, it makes a mockery of what this site is for. Now, for argument sake, if someone was to post on here and TELL us straight out, "I wrote the following story and would like input on if it reads 'real'" folks would be alright with it. They aren't trying to fool anyone, they're asking if in our experience does their story sound plausible. But this site is for REAL accounts, as bizzare, weird, or strange they may be. We are NOT sitting around a campfire trying to scare the bejeebus out of each other, or seeing who can tell the biggest whopper, and when someone is suspect of masquarading fiction as truth, people get upset. Who likes being lied to? By the same token asking for a point to be cleared up, or for additional info is not a hint in the slightest, that your experience is in doubt. Typos, bad wording, et al happens, and from what I've seen on here is totally understood by all. I've noticed for a great many of the contributors English is not their native language, so there is bound to be some error. And we get that. Or should. But, yeah, a lie is a lie in any language and folks take exception to that. Hope that clears things up for you a bit.

Good point, Pjod! I think I may have read some time slip accounts that include interaction, but they are few and fare between. I suspect that if this time slip had been noticed by so many people, it would be as famous as the Bold Street time slip.

I think "time slips" are possible. Just not common enough to have the locals or neighbors brush it off like some tourist attraction. Any "time slip" incident I've heard of, the witness describes visual/audio -not much intereaction -and never sitting down to a meal.

Narella, Pjod, Rook and Spockle: You are SOOOO reading my mind. I felt there were too many cliches in Sebastian's story, too. What struck me is that it was the work of someone whose only exposure to the 60s was through comedy skits and TV or movies. Not through a time slip.
I don't know if time slips are possible. But there are people who claim to have experienced them, and I had a very brief experience myself, before I knew what they were.

"Another lady in her 80's, demanded I stop asking about the damn filthy hippie drug users cafe that keeps showing up"
So, one of the locals is obviously upset- this burned out, damaged, boarded up shop- occasionally slips back to a time when it was a brilliant, beautiful cafe... So upset, she curses the place when you inquire about the phenomenon?
Strange. One would think she would welcome any such time slip that brings the old block back to it's former grandeur. What with property values and such.

Sebastian,
I do not mean to be cruel, nor do I enjoy moments like this but I have noticed some...'discrepancies'...between your profile and some details you have given in your STORIES. If you can clear these up I would be very much appreciative. With that said...
I enjoy reading well written experiences, I truly do. I also like helping those individuals who come to YGS to ask questions or request aid due to an experience they have had and do not understand. But I can not stand it when people make up STORIES and expect us to believe them. I have been quiet and have not said anything, but now that your second STORY has been published I have noticed a couple of things that concern me and would like to ask about them.
And Away We Go...
So were you Divorced in 1999 or in 2001? Additionally were you 26 years old, as you stated here...
"It was a few years now back in 1999. And I was on a rest break/holiday in New York. I was 26yrs old and just divorced from my first wife"
Or were you 24, as the math works out from this statement in your profile...
"I am 39. I live half the year in Australia and half the year in Norway and or Sweden. I work as a Head Rigger and Driller on Oil Rigs. And have travelled much of the world to work on them for the past 15yrs." Coupled with this statement from your first STORY...
"I signed a contract where I would have to spend at least six months on and off in Australia. It sounded like a good opportunity at the time as I had just got divorced from my wife of 11 years and was looking for a bit of a change and a fresh start.
I started living in Adelaide in July of 2001..."
Here is the math...
You are 39 years old, based on the information in your profile, and have been working on 'Oil Rigs' and living in Australia for 15 years. 39-15=24. If that math is correct you were 24 years old in 2001 when you began work in Australia after your recent Divorce.
In either situation 24 in 2001 or 26 in 1999 you married at a very young age... Not your bride, YOU (here is the Math)...26-11=15 OR 24-11=13...We are to believe that you got married at either of those ages?
Another question I have is this, Are you a..." Head Rigger and Driller on Oil Rigs." As you state in your profile OR are you working a contract for the Australian Government as you stated in your first Story..." After being offered a regular contract with the Australian Government to do tests on sites for future Oil Rigs, I signed a contract where I would have to spend at least six months on and off in Australia" There is quite a difference in these Job descriptions, so which is it Inquiring minds want to know.

Supposedly time is linear, but Google "Bold Street, Liverpool" and read about a famous (alleged) time slip. There was also one at Versailles near Paris. There are other accounts online that are equally intriguing.

This story is crazy. Very, very weird. Time is linear and can't back track, according to science, but you are very descriptive. I don't have any logical answer for this that doesn't paint you as simply a story teller. I would love to experience something that odd. Where was this, exactly? I would like to look into it.

Argette - you know, sometimes our memories aren't completely reliable unless we keep Journals, so there is bound to be a little bit of "creative writing" (like remembering exactly what time it was or whatever) in our stories. But to create entire stories? Yes, I can see how someone who has this kind of talent would be drawn to a site like this. I think they lose sight of the fact that this is for "true" stories. Or maybe they've lost sight of reality altogether and create their own.
