So he is saying the place we go when we dream is like a parallel place, continuing on even when we are awake? And her mom is witness to this ongoing place where the astral self of her daughter is during stress/sleep?

Making sure I'm interpreting that correctly.

That is fascianting, Shelby and Manafon. It seems there is more to the human and the soul than we can ever imagine.

Shelbyloree--One term for the phenomenon you are describing is "false arrival" but much psychical literature simply refers to apparitions of the living as just that or sometimes as "phantasms of the living". I found a very interesting quote from pioneer psychical researcher Frederic Myers which is pertinent to BlackCat Attack's experience and the phenomenon of apparitions of the living in general.

Myers wrote that "the continuous dream life which we must suppose to run concurrently with our waking life is potent enough to effect from time to time enough of dissociation to enable some element of the personality to be perceived at a distance from the organism... For I regard subliminal operations (thoughts, feelings, etc., lying beneath the ordinary threshold of consciousness) as continuously going on, and I hold that the degree of dissociation which can generate a perceptible phantasm is not necessarily a profound change, since that perceptibility depends so largely upon idiosyncrasies of agent and percipient as yet wholly unexplained."

It's a very intriguing tentative theory as to how people percieve apparitions of the living. More food for thought of a thought provoking phenomenon.

I'm not sure how it works either, but many cultures have names for the living wandering spirit, so it must be pretty common (in a broad human sense).

It's maddening, I can't find the name of this phenomenon I read specifically regarding people of Scandinavian decent - I guess they have this thing where people are heard and seen moments before they ever appear.

Say you're home alone, you hear the door open and mom and dad come in, chat, move around, etc. You venture down to say hi, and no one is there. Moments later, they walk in the door and repeat exactly what you had just heard when you were alone.

It's so common they have a very specific name, but can't remember what it is. Must go research...

Yeah I noticed a pattern. For instance, I really wanted to go inside the bedroom and was about to move myself from my laptop. My mom heard me inside the bedroom even though I was still in the living room. As most people my age, I'm attached to my electronic devices xD So that could explain her seeing me with my laptop the first time. I get anxiety when I try to sleep some nights and the night she saw me, I was panicking to try and sleep and wanted to get out of bed so badly... So maybe there is something to it. It's definitely an interesting theory Shelby.

Maybe she is seeing me projecting because 2 out of 4 situations I was asleep... And the other I was panicking to get up... It's mind boggling to think about. Just trying to figure it out makes my head hurt haha. It makes me wonder how a human soul works in terms of projection.

There is a film called 'What the bleep do we know' about all kinds of crazy stuff based on quantum physics.

In it they discuss an object being in multiple places at one time at the quantum level, but when you go to check on it, it bounces back to its point of origin (where you left it). It's the same object but in multiple places at the same time.

Maybe your mom is witness to this phenomenon with your doppelgänger?

In olden days everything was a sign of something bad, because everything was a threat and possibly fatal. I had an encyclopedia of superstitions - it was ridiculous what people did when XYZ happened. But they had limited medicine and limited knowledge.

Doppelgängers are still weird and creepy because we haven't figured out what causes them, so they still have superstitions attached to them. I would guess your mom is probably seeing your astral projection when you're sleeping or resting.

Thank you Manafon. It is definitely a really fascinating thing. I kept trying to come up with theories in my head as to why this is happening but I can't think of any. Ghosts don't perplex me to the extent of dopples.

Hi again BlackCatAttack--There's no way of knowing exactly how or why, at present, that some people see apparitions of living people, which can even include themselves. You were wondering if your age has something to do with your apparitional double appearing to your mother. From all the case studies I have read, there is not a higher prevalence of the apparitions of living teenagers appearing as opposed to that of middle aged adults or children.

It's fascinating that your mother has seen an apparition of you multiple times but exactly why that is so is an unknown.

Hi BlackCat - based on my own experiences, I don't think you need to worry about this being a negative omen. About ten years ago at my workplace I saw several apparitions of co-workers and even one of myself. It all happened within the space of about two months, and then it just stopped - but nothing particularly bad happened to any of us. So while I have no idea why there was a sudden flurry of these doppelgangers, or why it stopped, or what it all meant, it didn't seem to foreshadow anything at all. It was mystifying, though. All I can think is there are some things we are just not meant to understand - maddening as that may be!

Why do dopplegangers exist? Is it because I'm a teenager and I'm emitting energy? How do these things happen?

Hi BlackCatAttack--There are dozens upon dozens of well documented cases of "apparitions of the living" that have been compiled in psychical literature going back to the late nineteenth century. People have reported seeing apparitions of themselves, family members, friends and so on. These apparitions are of people who are still part of the land of the living.

In all the well documented case studies that compile this fascinating phenomena, there is zero evidence that there is any negativity that follows. It might be alarming but believing an apparition of a living person is a harbinger of evil is strictly the stuff of superstition and bland modern day Hollywood horror films.

Don't fear what your mother has reported seeing. You and your mom are not in any danger from your "doppelgänger".

You should read the stories of "Barn Ghost" (all the series) on YGS. I think then you can conclude the things.

And for the fourth time my mom has seen my doppleganger. The dopp was rocking back and forth and then disappeared. It was clear as day. My mom isn't crazy and is not on any drugs.She's not under any serious stress (unless you count daily errands as stress or vacay planning). She's sensitive to the paranormal like me but also has limited knowledge about anything and this is the first time she's seen a doppleganger and asked me "Does that mean something is going to happen to you?".

Does anyone have knowledge about this phenomenon that will relieve her from thinking I'm going to die?

I don't have any religious affiliation. I identify closer to a pantheist but still very agnostic about my beliefs.:) Just now all the power went out for a split second and then went back on plus I could hear stuff moving in the kitchen. This COULD have been coincidental but just to note. Also we've been having water damage on our ceiling and it keeps happening even when the maintenance man came up here. Some say that's a sign of something. But you know it COULD also just be water damage. Just adding any information that might help... I don't know about the place being haunted it was built in the 70s I believe. I know the whole "land could be haunted/bringing stuff with you kind of thing." But yeah.

I have read so many stories and heard so many experiences of spiritual/paranormal thing/activities and experienced as well, through that I have concluded if someone close to you is seeing/Saw your Doppelganger that means something is going to be wrong with you, may be something serious. Before suggesting you anything I just wanted to know your religion although I don't believe in religion but I would suggest you to go to church and discuss on a very serious note.

[at] Sanchez, I didn't say the ghost was attacking me. It just walks around any time it's been seen. I've wondered if it could be some kind of psychic energy I'm creating considering I mentioned how easily stressed I am and how I am small and cry easily. Conjuring up sickly Victorian women images hahaa. But then again I have limited knowledge on dopplegangers so I assume some of the people on here have some information and advice.

Plus my mom is generally personality A, gets angry quickly then cools off. So it's not like me, I get dizzy or cry easily under any pressure. She deals with everything and keeps going like a freight train.

I have a lot of anxiety and stress that I've been dealing with via fixing my sleep patterns and changing my thought patterns from sending this in, however, my mom has been dealing with minor stress lately but it's to do with planning a vacation and running errands. So nothing actually serious. It is possible her stress has caused her to see my doppleganger but she's seen it three times now at different times. The first time was when she was walking around at night (awake not drowsy at all), the second was mid day when she was calmly doing chores, and the third at night again.

I am not sure what is happening.

I don't think the ghost is actually attacking you at all. Maybe your mom has been stressing lately and its actually effecting her by seeing your Doppelganger. Have you asked her if she has been stressing lately?
