I think a lot of people who have certain religious beliefs have a hard time if confronted with a ghost. It just doesn't work into their doctrinal beliefs so they either think it's the devil playing tricks or they dismiss it as imagination. The apostles knew what a ghost was because they thought when Jesus walked on water they were seeing one. When He appeared in a closed room through a wall or locked door they had to think that as well because Jesus mentions it. He says handle Me, a spirit does not have flesh and bones like I have. He also ate with them to prove He was not a ghost. On the other hand He didn't say there were no ghosts. In fact He affirmed it by making the comparison. Bible also says there are clouds of witnesses all around us in spirit form. Jesus talked to Moses and Elijah with witnesses so I believe that shows they can talk to us and we can talk to them. The veil is thin folks.

Lisa clearly stated two theological positions, and others exist, usually variants. One suggests that those who pass over have a choice to "visit" us (or not) while they await Last Judgment. One aspect seems consistent in all theories: personal qualities appear not to change.
Answers often do not come easily or stay fixed. That's why many of us are here; we're seekers. Thank you for the story and joining in the quest.

Ah, one of the big 'whys' in the field of paranormalacy, if that word exists. (Spell check says I just invented a new word!) I made a sincere deal with all my friends and family that who ever gets that answer first, comes back to let the rest of us know. Surprise, surprise, no one who has passed on has made good on the deal. Yet. I keep hoping.

Excellent question, Nikki! You've touched on a subject that has baffled theologians for millennia -- and, coincidentally, came up recently in my master's studies.

One theory is that the resurrection is two-fold -- for Christians, at least. The idea is that EVERYONE will be judged on the Day of Judgment, which is promised in the Old Testament. (See particularly the Books of Ezekiel and Daniel.) Jews of the first century A.D. Believed that until that Day of Final Judgment, those who died prior to that final judgment day would "sleep" (or remain separate from God). St. Paul, however, hints that Christians CANNOT be separated from Christ, even by death; and those who are faithful (full of Faith) to Jesus Christ will be united with Him IMMEDIATELY when their corporeal body dies. So, it is conceivable that those who are not believers may not be in heaven -- or hell -- right now because they haven't been judged yet (because the Final Day hasn't arrived yet). Interesting, huh?
