THIN AND BREEZY?
NOT at ALL, Rook.
You SERIOUSLY took my breath away.
First, thank you for allowing me to be (and understanding why) as vague as I feel I need be. Both of these women are under my "sanctuary", and I will not purposefully let down that guard. Please excuse the little "asides" that I may add to both of them.

Take a deep breath, because, here we go...

Yes. The first woman DOES work in dress suits. Yes, she DOES have "mousy" brown hair (she likes to call it ashen brown). The first time she saw this... Uh...
The first time she noticed herself with her doll, she was daydreaming as she was in the hospital awaiting word of her Father.
The child that she had lovingly given it to, loaned it back to her, as the child's Mother knew that the doll was the ONE THING that would remind her of "happy times".
She has been fighting her talents for YEARS, as she has been her Father's caregiver, and the bread winner of the family and simply "could not be bothered with any more".
She was being practical. When your plate is already filled up, you really should not try to balance that extra drumstick on it. You MIGHT drop the whole plate (remember me telling you THAT, Hun?). PRACTICAL, not SELFISH! There is a distinct difference.

The second woman... I will have to see about her. PARTS of what you said, I know to be true. She seems to be "coming into her own" rather nicely concerning her talents (so nicely, that I often go to her as a sounding board). OTHERS have seen her with the rocking horse, as far as I know, SHE has never witnessed it. As far as I KNOW.
Knowing what I DO about her, there is the possibility of the rest. Heck, I wish for the good ol' days. Back when Dino (Pebbles wanted him back though, and Fred and Betty just repo-ed him one day) let me ride him to school and did not mind the pterodactyl coming along for the flight.
I will have to point her over here to see what she thinks.

THANK you, so much. I think I am a bit "close" to this one, and that is why I am having problems seeing through the blur.
I WILL be back!
Thank you.

I was suggesting E-mail for privacy purposes. But I feel that quite a few people here are interested in this and are waiting for an outcome, so I'm all for keeping it here... Let's just make sure we keep the I.D. Of these two folks private.

I wish I could have posted before you, just for a bit of validation. I 'figured' out that the first toy was a rag doll last night as I was 'seeking' answers. (At least I know I got that part right.) The first woman wears 'professional dress' to work (skirt with blouse and jacket or pant suit) and she has light brown or 'dirty' blond hair?

Anyway, the toy (s) is (are) a comfort item, which is why it is sought out, it is a good focus for the unconscious mind to anchor itself to.

Time to go out on that limb...

These 'sightings/visions', call them what you will, are coming from the Adult person, unconsciously, either while awake or asleep. It is my 'feeling' that both Ladies have 'the gift' (we who use it call it that) to some degree. Anyway, this 'spirit' is a projection of themselves due to a longing for when times were simpler/more carefree. That's not to say they are not happy with were they are now in life, but a part of them longs for the 'good ol days'. Consciously they feel these are 'bad' thoughts, (not that they would tell you that out loud) or they feel they are being selfish or greedy for having them. Hence the 'projection' that is being seen has some slight 'negative' aspects that reflect these feelings with-in the person in question.

There, I'm out on a limb, and it feels pretty thin and breezy out here.

I hope that makes some kind of sense.

Respectfully,

Rook

Yep. The SECOND woman is seen with a special toy as well.
(oh, please forgive me, Unnamed Friend, I have to give a bit of information here. I will keep your name out of it!)
A very different KIND of toy, but the TOY IS the only common denominator that seems to be in place (the first woman, it is a rag doll, with the second one, a rocking horse).
BOTH toys seem to be presently loved and cared for.
Yeah, that is exactly right. I feel that the "opposites" are the main clue as to what this really is. I find it very interesting as I have not found a documented case of this anywhere, and here I have TWO separate women in the "same" occurrence, that talk to me.
If you would like me to use your e-mail instead of your page, I would be open to that suggestion. Or, we could stay here, if you like. It is YOUR page 😉, so, your choice!
Thank you for your interest. I really appreciate it.

So for the first woman it seems the single common factor is the 'favorite toy'. Is there something similar for the second occurrence or is there not enough information on that 'case' as of this time?

As far as the toy is considered, is it being well taken care of/ abused/ or possibly left forgotten someplace?

I think a clue is in the fact that while the 'spirit' that has been seen looks like her, it is in the 'negative image' details that the answer lies.

Shall we continue here in this format? If not please feel free to e-mail me at the account listed in my profile... Or if there is enough interest here on the site we can keep it here. Either way is fine with me. It looks like I will be breaking out my 'cards' here soon.

I hope everything I've said makes sense. I am absolutely fascinated with this and will do what I can to help find an answer for this mystery.

There would appear to be no cause and effect to this. She is not in an emotional tail spin, nothing particularly stressful is going on, family life is great, no stresses at work... She is not always seen in the same place. Where ever that toy is, there she is. Different times of day, no "same's" that we have been able to pinpoint.
A Doppelganger is an exact replica. Some have suggested (family, close friends) that perhaps this WAS her double. BUT, you have it exactly right. SHE is left handed. The CHILD seen is right handed. She has a birthmark above her right eye that is a WHITE mark, the CHILD has a mole like (color wise) birthmark (same shape, only in reverse) above her left eye.
It is ALMOST as if the child is a negative, and the adult is the photograph. Only, the child is the right color etc, just some physical "mirror images" are present.
The reason I am trying so hard to figure this out is that here recently, it has happened AGAIN, but with a different woman. THIS TIME, it has only happened once (so far). The two women live an ocean away, have no ties whatsoever, JUST this "phenomenon".
I, too, have the starts of a theory, but every time I am just about to nod my head and say "Yep, that is..." something else comes to the front, and I have to throw my pages of evidence over my shoulder and start over.
Thanks for the thoughts on this!

whitebuffalo,

Is she spotted in the same place, or various places? Is she spotted while this person is asleep or awake? Is she spotted when this person is under stress (at work, in traffic). Or is this person undergoing a stressful time in Her life? (Or was she when the sighting/picture was taken?) Or is this a random anytime occurrence?

You stated, and I quote:

"IF it WERE, this "child" would be the reversed mirror image of her present day self."

Are you saying that in the picture this 'image' is left handed when the real person is right handed? I don't quite understand this statement and it could have quite a bearing on what it all means...

I will say I feel this happened for a reason, and I will do everything I can to help figure out why.

Respectfully,

Rook

P.S. I have a feeling, but without more information I don't want to go out on a limb just yet and say something.

Sorry, Rook, I just read through what I wrote you and thought "What the...? I have NO IDEA what I wrote there. Very confusing. Sorry about that.
Nope, THIS adult is very much alive.
She has been spotted (in photographs as well as with the naked eye) as a younger version of herself with a favorite childhood toy that she had.
The FIRST thing MOST people who witness, or look at the photo, think is that it is merely her child. But, as she has/had none, that is not a possibility.
It would not be considered her Doppelganger, as that would be an "exact replica of..." <shaking head> IF it WERE, this "child" would be the reversed mirror image of her present day self.

Same thing for me on the readings. I do not "display them", per say, but they are not hidden away, either. I have had people try to force money at me (one man even tried to slip it into my pocket, imagine how uncomfortable THAT moment was), and I personally think it would be wrong of me to accept money for it. I feel that there should be no charge to "help".
I knew this woman (she is the former wife of a friend) who told me that it was all a lie. That there was NO WAY that one could "see" using the cards. She said that she had gone to psychics and mediums before (I can not help but wonder, if "you" do not believe them to be accurate, WHY would "you" go to places that do readings?), paid hefty sums, but all they had done was "read her reactions".
So, I challenged her. I asked her if she would mind my doing a reading of her. I knew very little about her. She and my friend had hastily married after knowing each other a very short time. She asked me if I would accept the "going rate" and I told her (as I tell EVERYONE who asks to pay me) only if she WANTED to offend me. THIS ONE was on me.
She and I faced each other, sitting on the floor of the living room, but I kept my head down. I refused to look at her. What unfolded seemed to put her at odds with herself (I had done readings for her husband a few times) and what her thoughts on readings were. I told her things that there was no way possible that I would have known beforehand, and a few things about her that even her new husband did not know. When it came to her past lovers, she stopped me. And asked that I not finish the reading.
As scared as she was, as she walked out of my home that day, SHE is the one that bought me my Top That Cachet set that I now use.
AND, I will be honest, THAT is EXACTLY why it is that I use THAT set, and not the Ryder set that I read from for her. Not so much because her eyes were opened that day, but more in that I felt this was her way to show me...
I don't know.
Maybe because it was a reading in my home to someone who "knew" it was all a lie, and then she presents me with this set. How could I NOT use it? 😊
Acceptance comes in many forms.
Thank you.

whitebuffalo,

I'm going to restate your description/question and try to answer what I think you are asking.

Adult, has passed. Has been seen playing with a child's toy. The ghost looks like a younger version of the Adult, but is still very much recognizable as the Adult that has passed. This Adult has no children. If all that is right I'll go with my gut feeling for this one... The Adult, after passing has taken the form of his younger self because of good feelings from this time, He is trying to hang onto the good memories and does not realize/accept what has happened to him. I hope that makes sense.

Wow, it seems we have a very close 'learning curve' so to speak. I haven't done a reading for anyone but myself in a very long time. I have done readings for others, including my mother, whom was a little freaked as I told her things from her past that I had no clue about... She didn't let me finish the reading. (this was with my Ryder deck) I enjoy doing readings but people don't understand why I don't charge... That's not what it's all about. It's about helping people.

Respectfully,

Rook

Well now, is that not a coincidence?
My first "deck" was a bicycle poker deck. My second one was a Ryder Tarot. The one that I now own and use (yes, I know, seems like I took a step back, but...) is a Top That Cachet set that a friend got me and had blessed by the shop owner. How interesting is that?
The Stairs of Gold are beautiful! The symbolisms on them is exquisite, even if the minor arcana is a bit downplayed. I like the "mesh of worlds" that is displayed on the cards.
Do you read for yourself, for others? Privately?

I have a question that goes pretty close to the line that Succubiluv went on.
What, in your opinion, would cause a child's toy to be "played with" by the younger version (see through, seemingly a "ghost") of it's self (some thirty years or so difference in age there)? The CHILD looks every bit as much as the adult did, in childhood photographs. BUT the "adult" does NOT have any offspring, DID not.
What are your thoughts? It is puzzling me.
Thank you.

Okay--I see how you think on that subject, Rook.
I 've been reading a bit about shadow people since you mentioned that in a previous post.
No comment on that yet.
Been eyeing that alongside General Relativity.
I emailed Hoochler and he shared an interestng view on your experience at the Battery.
I wouldn't go back there at night--no sir, not me.
Only during daylight, so I could see the hooded guys more clearly if they were present, which they probably were'nt.

succubiluv,

After walking through the walls (literally) of an invisible house I'm going to have to say, Yes to that one. 😉 I think it's possible that emotional events can be 'recorded' by their surroundings and then played back under the right conditions.

Now from this stand point, there might be a natural explanation for this type of occurrence, but if so science has yet to define it.

Other 'residual' hauntings I believe are 'spirits' of people who do not know they have passed on, so they keep on doing what they did in life and under the right conditions the living see a part of this routine.

Then you have active hauntings which of course involve interaction with a 'spirit'.

Of course you can't forget 'visiting entities'. You know those that are called by a medium, contacted via a Ouija board or in some other way summoned. These can be the 'spirits' of the former living, or they can be... Something else. They don't always have to be summoned either because under the right conditions they can 'cross over' by themselves.

Whitebuffalo,

Thank you for the history lesson. I'm not so versed in summoning spirits and such, but I do know the Tarot, I've used some form of that sense I was 12 years old. Cartomancy, never knew it was called that. My first readings were done with a regular deck of poker cards. By the time I was 14 I was using the Ryder Tarot, then when I was 17 my then girlfriend (later 1st wife) gave me a deck as a gift, it was an Italian Deck - Tavaglione The Stairs of Gold. (She told the Lady who owned the shop that it was a gift and the Lady blessed the deck.) I have always believed in Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ and called upon them in my times of trial, but that never stopped me from using the Tarot. (very long story there, let's just say I used lots and lots of praying to come to an understanding about that one...)

As I mentioned, I've never been a big one for summoning 'spirits' but, I've done my fair share of helping some pass on or even closed some openings created by others. (Inadvertently, or on purpose)

I believe in ghosts (earth bound spirits of formerly living humans, can be good or evil) entities (non-human spirits can be good or evil) Angels and Demons and all manor of paranormal riff raff. 😲

I hope that answers your questions.

Respectfully,

Rook

Thanks for all the info, whitebuffalo.
Had never heard of the Tarot Killer or of Cartomancy.

Rook: what do you think about residual hauntings?
Do you believe that's a real paranormal occurrence?
I tend not to credit.

Of course, on the "flip side" of that are ALSO the groups like the Mumbai branch of Tarot India Network (founder, Swati Prakash).
It would appear, that their "goal" is to promote harmony, unity and love. They start their practices on a tarot journey on the first full moon night of autumn. The rectangular piece of card they hold is the tarot lovers' card.
Thank you.

Cartomancy, Succubiluv.
While Cartomancy started out around the fourteenth century as a form of fortune telling, or divination, (with a "playing" deck of cards, I might add) there were those that took the "practice" to extremes.
As in so many other "wayward" religious factions, there were those that preferred to bring "honor" and "power" to themselves. They wanted others to know how extremely POWERFUL they (thought) they were.
SOME of those that followed the teachings of Cartomancy meshed their ideas with groups that were involved in The Chorazos Cult (The Chorazos Cult was founded in the 16th century in the mountains of Romania, lead by a man named Chorazos). The most disturbing thing about THAT sect was that it is said that the only way to LEAVE it, was through death.
So THEN, a few OTHER persons took it a step further, to include OTHERS into their sect. They branched out into neighboring areas "bringing others to the light". The most famous of these persons was the "Tarot Killer". Though there has not been anyone "named" for these horrendous crimes, there are TWO suspects (Kevin Cosby and Bryce Droher), BOTH belonging to the Chorazos Cult, or having associations with members of it.
The IMPORTANT thing about THAT is...
Ready for this?
The Chorazos Cult is SAID to have "died out" WHILE Chorazos was alive. They had retreated to Scotland, when things got a bit "heated" for them in England.
AND the Tarot Killer (well, ONE of the suspects, Kevin Cosby) killed himself in 2007.
Another one of the "famous" ones is the Tarot Card sniper (circa 2002), though HE only "threw in the card" after what he felt was a "prompt" from the authorities.
While it was actually the FULL moon that Chorazos' "performed" under, MANY of their "rites" BEGAN at the three fourths full moon phase. The reason being, that it would take the few days until the moon got full, to put some of their plans in action.

Sorry about the history lesson. I know it is frowned upon by some, but I could not just provide you with a WORD, now could I?
Thank you.

I eagerly await any further comments you may have for this thread, but Leap Castle is not in California. Leap Castle is in Ireland 😲. I have heard/read some about this very haunted/active Castle and find it fascinating. Again, I look forward to any further inputs you may have concerning the Battery.

No, there were not any dark colored footprints, blue, brown or otherwise. Just the red ones.

Wow, Rook. This is one of the stories that I was tempted to look through the comments before posting my OWN, but I stubbornly avoided the temptation!
Seriously, the first thing that caught my attention was your description of the moon: three fourths FULL.
Second: "young dumb and living in the moment". Man! Does that describe me a few hundred times while in the service! Of course, add to that "indestructible" and "well trained in the arts". 😊 Boy, did I need an attitude adjustment back then (Uh, occasionally now, as well).
Your experience reminds me very much of a similar "expedition" into the Leap Castle in San Diego, California. The Hunting team had encountered a few of the areas of the castle seemed to have an impenetrable darkness. With their high powered flashlights and their digital equipment, they tested out all of these areas (the castle has a very horrible past. Dungeons with spikes in the floor where the only entrance is a form of a "chute" in which persons were thrown down. A Priest was murdered by his brother in Chapel in the midst of a sermon...)
Throughout the castle, they had encountered unaccountable sounds, a few disembodied voices, and three of the team (on separate occasions) had been face to face with an apparition that showed itself as only a head in a hood (presumed to be the Priest) This respectable group seems to have the theory that the light is ABSORBED in the attempt to gather enough energy in which to manifest. They described the darkness as an imaginary wall. Without the SIGHT of a wall. Just darkness.
They could walk THROUGH the darkness (it was frigidly cold, and an overwhelming sadness, or anger was felt in these patches of darkness). There were several of them, in vastly different areas of the castle. In the dungeon, the chapel, a bed chamber... An interesting note, the only other REAL time that this particular group encountered a similar darkness (that could not be explained away by the "immediate" investigation of the area) was at the former residence of Marie Laveau, the New Orleans Voodoo Queen.
The Tarot Card is a bit telling, I should think. Most generally (to MY knowledge) certain summoning "artifacts" are not thought to be left laying around. UNLESS there was a disturbing reason for the hasty retreat of those USING the "artifacts". Such as, being chased out of there by the Military personnel, the boarding up of the premises in their absence, or something freaky popping out to "join the group".
The footprints on the ceiling. Ah, frightening to SEE, as the first thought was more than probably that they were the blood soaked souls of someones shoes etc. (I am sorry, maybe I should read through the comments first, but...) It is customary, in certain "circles", to create an entrance. "To show the way, by following the footsteps of those that go before." Often times, the "blood" of berries is used in order to create the "link that binds" those present: The Blood of Life.
If one "creates" the entrance, there will be those that enter through it. Generally, in those types of "circles" they are in search of something that can carry out certain "deeds" for them. Certain environmental properties must be present in order for those "somethings" to "answer the call", and come through the portal.
In that the moon, at the time of YOUR investigation, was "three fourths FULL", THAT is ONE of the environmental properties that is necessary for such a "calling". UNLESS the primary persons had closed a door on the entrance (WERE there any DARK footprints on the ceiling? Black, dark brown, dark blue?), the "invitation" is still in force. ANY thing could STILL be admitted.
I think I am going to have to read through your comments on this one.😊 Do not be surprised if you have a second comment from me 😊.
Thank you.

I can not say anything about what color may or may nor have been on the walls beyond the picture from the Tarot deck and the footprints. I just don't know we didn't go any further into the Battery.

Up until the Tarot picture and the footprints there was garffiti on smooth grey concrete walls. Nothing but names and 'silly' pictures/tags near the entrance and less the futher in we went.

It's true that as we made our way out we were watching our backs, I for one felt certian that there was something in the blackness following us. The hyperdarkness (really like this term) truly did seem to follow us, until just before we rejoined the main corridor.

So, if it was painted walls, why did it seem to follow us back towards the entrance? I understand what you are saying about the light and it looks like I'll get to experiment with this. My 9 year old son has agreed that it would be neat to test a flashlight to see what happens so stand by...

I see your point, Rook, about the summoning, releasing etc.

Points for consideration: though black paint absorbs light waves, leaving the eye no wavelengths to percieve as color, the luminance of light rays are unaffected by the absorption.

In this case, light rays from the flashlights would be intercepted, for instance, by solid matter placed over the lenses of the bulbs.
A layer of black paint upon the bulb lenses would also have that effect.

Pigmentation unattached to the source of the light rays-- such as nearby walls, floors and ceilings-- would still be subject to illumination by the light rays as matter upon which the unobstructed rays would freely fall.

A point for thought, too, Kecoughtan and Rook, is the matter of visible paint lines; if the walls, etc., were painted black, there should've been some visible areas on those surfaces showing where the black paint layer started.

In retreating, Rook, you say you took turns shining the lights behind you, with the one-directional hyperdarkness close following.
Since this description indicates continuous rearward checking with the same one-directional result, the black paint would have to go along with you all the way through the retreat action to be the cause of the rearward darkness, wouldn't it?
What do you fellows think?
Of course, Rook, you were there and best know the whole feeling of this thing.

Rook, I think it is possible there are a lot of 'somethings' that have been summoned there, either purposefuly or by accident.

Not some where I want to visit. The kind of black you describe here can only be of one thing, true dark and evil.

Thanks for taking the time to share with us 😁

succubiluv,

It's very possible that whatever was there is still there, but if it was a summoned 'thing' would it still be there, or would the 'bindings that held it wear off letting it free. Heck there's no proof that anything was there summoned or otherwise. Just a bunch of being watched/there is a presence here feelings, empty pictures on lots of film and a car chase.

I hope that whoever they were that if they were summoning something, that they were releasing it when there ritual was complete. If not then I really do not want to go back there. No Sir, Not me.

Nothing but the rumors, and the fact that whoever chased us off was not the Park Rangers nor Local Police. If not for the 'hoods' I would have thought we were being chased by a local gang of something like that because we were on their 'turf'.

I saw two figures, both seemed to be male, both wearing what seemed to be long hooded robes. These were the two on the top of the Battery. Rhodie and another of the people there that night said that as they looked out the back window they saw two or three robed and hooded people jump into the van that followed us out of the Park and down to the Public Beach area. I have no 'proof' such as news stories, police reports and such.

Kecoughtan,

I'm pretty sure the hooded figures that chased us away were part of the rumored group/cult/gang, that we had heard about. One thing was for sure, they didn't want us around.

I never thought about the walls being painted black, but that is a very good possibility. I remember the walls being the standard smooth concrete grey, but further along the corridor they may have been painted. What I know for a fact is that all 5 of us that night did not want to go any further than the picture of the Tarot Card and the red footprints.

Well now that's two neat experiments that merit further investigation, the afor mentioned Einstein's General Relativity Theory and it's relationship to shadow people and now this one about black walls and flashlight beams... The latter one (flashlight beams) I think I will suggest to my 9 Yr old. It's Science Fair time at school and he needs an experiment. How does this sound for a project... Different colored walls and their effect on the ability of flashlight beams to illuminate a given area. (I wonder if he will go for it?)

Welcome to the discussion Kecoughtan.
Interesting points you mention.
I'm wondering, Rook, if you have any assurance that cult activity actually was taking place there in the Battery.

Also, I read something once about black pigment and light reflection/absorption; want to look that topic up right quick then return here with some info on it.

Well, that possibility--malfunctioning equipment--is put to rest. All points well taken.
Don't blame you for being leary about returning.

What do think about this, though: if there are "haunted" houses and other places which stay inhabited by entities for decades, do you think the entities present in that Battery could likewise be there now?

Dark, creepy corridors, mysterious hooded figures, and a car chase--this sounds like you were caught up in an episode of Scooby Doo, Rook! Physics isn't my forte so I can't really contribute to your fascinating dialogue with succubiluv. If you saw hooded figures atop the gun battery, a strange vehicle pursued you for some distance, and your experience was preceeded by rumors of cult activity, I tend to think that you interrupted a cult gathering. Approaching this anthropologically, most ceremonial and ritual spaces are set apart by either architecture or cultural markers. The location you encountered was some distance into the concrete maze of corridors and to such an extent that, as you mentinoed, the refuse of visitors diminished indicating that it was rather secluded and accessible by only the bravest of souls. Is it possible that the tarot card and footprints were intended not only to frighten folks away but also served as markers designating the perimeter of their ceremonial space? That doesn't explain the failure of your lights to cut the inky darkness. I wonder if a similiar effect could be produced by painting the surrounding concrete black. With no additional ambient light, a space painted black would probably absorb the beam of your lights. Obviously, the army did not paint those walls, but do you think the cult did to transform the space for their rituals? I think you inadvertantly intruded into their inner-sanctum or were about to when you wisely decided to back track.

Both camera's were equipped with flashes, and they were working, every time a picture was taken, by myself (black and white film) and Rhodie (nickname, using color film). So no, it wasn't the lack of lighting that led to the pictures not turning out. I had a roll of 24, Rhodie was using a roll of 36. None of the pictures turned out, not those of the entrance, the main passage way and any we took down the corridor with the foot prints and picture of the Devil on the wall.

I't my gut feeling that whatever was 'lurking' in there didn't want to be seen. As I stated before, I'd love to go back, but I'm really scared to do so. It's been years, the Battery has been completely sealed off (as far as I know) for all that time. If there was a cult involved would anything they contacted still be 'hanging' around after all this time with no 'energy' to 'work with?'

By the way, Rook, that solar eclipse occurred in MAY 1919, which showed bent starlight due to the sun's gravity field.

So you've seen some combat action.
I never did, but I remember a period when the Army was rumored to be preparing for combat over in the Middle East late in 1978 or in '79.

One morn we set out in our trucks and jeeps for an FTX (A FIELD EXCERCISE); you should have heard the clamor.
Some of the battalion's most notorious trouble-making potheads and bullies were whining like babies.
They'd gone paranoid, whining about how the staff officers were all in on a secret plan to ship us off to the Middle East en route to our FTX site! There was muttered talk about going AWOL.

I didn't believe it; it was hard enough to believe that these battalion Badboys were so scared straight at the NOTION of a chance to fight, something they seemed to specialize in.
Now, when their prospects for that pastime looked brightest to them, they wanted out.

Anyway, I had no paranormal experiences in the military, as you did.
It's just as well, since living with some of those guys was all the paranormal experience one would need.

There was this one Spec4 (Specialist 4) who would blast extreme heavy metal in his billets room every day after our final formation. With his room door closed (our doors were about an inch thick, solid like oak if not oak), his "music" could be heard down the hall around the corner to a distance of about 80 feet.
One evening I was on my way out of my room when he came out at the same time.
The hallway filled up with a literally deafening blast of tumbling, ear-biting noise that vibrated everything everywhere, including my body.

Finally, he was called in by the First Sergeant and some of the battalion brass.
He lowered the volume to a semi-dull roar after that.

One more question: do you think the lighting or lack of it had something to do with the turnout of the Nikon and Canon film?

I'll quote you to start this one...

"Point here is that if light can be deflected from an original source by natural entities it definitely can be intercepted or absorbed from original sources by supernatural entities."

It wasn't so much the General Relativity Theory that got me wondering, but your statement from above. I thought to myself, what a great thesis statement... Can you see it "My intent with this project is to validate the paranormal phenomenon known as 'shadow people' using the General Theory of Relativity and it's relationship with light." If anything it's a Great scientific stand point on which to start a line of research.

As far as combat goes I was aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) for both Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. (most of what follows are quotes from a web site...) "On 19Sep2001 we deployed and launched the initial strikes of Operation Enduring Freedom against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. Theodore Roosevelt's spent 159 consecutive days at sea, breaking the record longest period underway since WWII.

Theodore Roosevelt pulled out of NNSY 30 October 2002, after completing a Planned Incremental Availability. Theodore Roosevelt left Naval Station Norfolk on 6 January for a month long training cruise in the Caribbean area. While down there TR received orders to proceed across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean Sea. TR arrived in February and began preparations to launch attacks on Iraq. On 16 March 2003 Theodore Roosevelt along with the USS Harry S. Truman began launching air strikes into Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom."

It may sound like we didn't see any combat but the amount of ordnance we dropped 'in country' was incredible. We had our moments however, when your helicopter on look out reports a fishing boat with rusty nets on her booms, 10-12 people on deck (they normally hold 6 at most) and 1 of those people has a set of large binoculars (looking at your ship), another is on a cell phone and yet a third appears to be using a GPS device... Yeah the 'pucker factor' was a bit high needless to say. After the USS Cole bombing in Yemen in 2000 we were not very happy to see something like that. I can say I was there, I gave a personnel touch to more than one bomb during Enduring Freedom and as we conducted night operations it wasn't easy. (Our breakfast time was 1800 and our TAPS (lights out) was 1000. We were 12 hours out of sync with the rest of the world.)

I'm enjoying this two-way thread!
Got a question: Why would you think the theory of general relativity might help explain shadow people?

PS--Did you have combat duty?

Einstein was a pretty smart guy.;) It's a very good theory and one that makes just plain sense. Perhaps it's a good line of study, might explain a bit about shadow people.

For me it was fun going to the Live Fire Range down in Puerto Rico. (Vieques island) I was a member of the Five inch 54 gun team... Aiming it from the Combat Information Center (CIC) (below decks...) My first 4 ships (2 Knox class frigates (FF's), a destroyer (DD) and a Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG) all got to shoot the range there. I was stationed on the ship that fired on the island before the accident that closed the range, which is another story unto itself.

Seem's we've cornered the market on this thread huh?

I appreciate your acknowledgement of my military service.
Twenty years Navy, huh? In the words of one of our Basic Training Drill Sergeants, " Mighty fine"...

Sometimes I wonder what's happened to some of those guys, even the ones I didn't care for at the time.
Be nice to hobnob with them again, especially the guys from regular army.
I was a canoneer at 2nd and 2nd--loved popping off those Howitzers!
And equally hated the cold out there in the field on our FTXs.
One winternight I had roving guard in the field after midnight, and man that wind was pushing so hard I almost lost my steel pot right off my head.
Had to keep reaching up there to hold it on.

I learned from the newspaper next day that the windchill had been at 18 degrees overnight.
I vowed that whenever I got outta there and back home I'd stay me by a heater and keep 3 pairs of everything on each portion of my body from neck to feet.

Thanks for the clock comments.
I believe it was in 1913 that a star's light was bent by an eclipsed sun, proving the part of Einstein's General Relativity Theory which said that all physical objects bend the space surrounding them due to gravity fields.
Point here is that if light can be deflected from an original source by natural entities it definitely can be intercepted or absorbed from original sources by supernatural entities.

Yes, I do believe that 'something' was obsorbing/sucking up the light. It wasn't the drain on the batteries in flash lights or electronic equptment that seems to indicate something trying to manifest, this was more like something (s) trying to remain hidden in the dark.

I agree, there are many, many ways to have made the foot prints, it still made me stop and pause as I looked at them.

As far as the 24 Hour clock thing goes, that's the way I learned it, 0100 (1am) until 2400 (midnight) anything between midnight (also called 0000) and 0100 (1am) was refered to by the minutes past midnight. (i.e.: 0024 = 1224am) right up until 0059 (1259am) and then the clock started right back at 0100. I know we used this during Aircraft control to avoid confusion between am and pm. (Times between 2400 - 0100 or 1200 - 1300.) Lets see if I can explain it a bit better. If I were to brief a pilot that his launch time was 1225 he would know it was 1225pm an afternoon launch. If I briefed the same pilot that his launch time was 0025 he would know that it was an early (EARLY) morning launch. (1225am). I hope that helps.

I SALUTE YOUR SERVICE. Thank you for your time. After 20 years in the Navy I know how hard any enlistment can be. It doesn't matter how long or short it is. It doesn't matter if your shipping out to sea or pounding the ground somewhere. It's hard work and I THANK YOU.

To make the ceiling prints someone could've stood on a ladder or suchlike with a stick or suchlike and pressed a foot-shaped object fastened to the top end of the "stick" onto the ceiling surface?

In paragraph 4 of my post I should've writ "the density being determined by the source".
Anyhow, returning there would indeed take courage.

On that clock time puzzle from Surya's tingling electricity story yesterday, I was a bit thrown at first. I was in the army (Fort Sill, OK) and recall military time as going up to 2400 hours to midnight, then 0100, 0200, 0300 hours etc.
But not 00:22, 00:23, etc.
Had'nt heard of any such clocktime.

The black negatives you mention in your story seem to support that there was some sort of supernatural light interception involved in the experience?

Two of the folks I was with convinced themselves it was blood... I know better, as blood dries it turns a dark brown/rusty kind of color. The prints were bright red, looked like paint to me. The ones on the floor, fine, easy to do, the ones on the wall, fine, I can figure out many ways to do that. The ones on the ceiling... There I'm kind of stumped. The Battery is made of think concrete, floor, walls, and ceiling. The corridors are fairly wide, the Main one approx 20/25 feet and the one with the picture and the foot prints about 10/12 feet wide. The ceiling in the main corridor was at least 15 feet and in the other one 10/12ft. People can make the footprints on the floor, wall and ceiling but it was quite an effect.

We used up a roll of film in each camera, and none of the pictures turned out... The negatives showed only blackness, as if no flash was used. The picture of 'The Devil' was a marvel to behold, (No, I'm not a fan of El Diablo) being entirely painted using spray paint. Such talent wasted by painting it deep with a place that few people would ever see. (I mention this because I would love to have a picture of how well painted this was.)

They have added welded metal bars and heavy gage fencing to the entrance of the Battery, for safety purposes of course. This is one place I would love to go back and investigate more fully and at the same time it's the one place I'm be the most scared to do so.

Rook---I enjoyed going down that corridor with you guys. I'm tempted to add this one to my fave list.
How on earth did red footprints get up to the cieling, one might ask; but no wonder with the Tarot pic of the Prince himself right there on the wall. Truly pair-o-normal feet!
I wonder; did the footprints look like real blood, or were they just scarejoke red?

As for the swallowing darkness, Rook, one only has to consider the symbolism of Tarot pic of the Prince of Darkness: the resulting hyperdark effect you all experienced simply follows the symbol.

As you may know, light is radiant energy composed of photons; how difficult would it be for supernatural beings (who have been known to make material objects disappear from our range of sight) to intercept or block the flux of photon particles?

The absorption of light particles through the imposition of a local field of counter energy that functions like dark matter would not be out of the reach of spirit entities who have sufficient power.
The result would be a cloudlike shield opposed to emitted light, the degree of solidity being determined by the source.

Then too, as numerous paranormal accounts prove, human sensory equipment is a playground for spirit entities in general; even human "magicians" can get us to "see" or not see what is or isn't there.

A very engaging story, and exciting too.
