A Little Bit Of Weird

This happened a few months ago, back in January. I'd been having some strange 'feelings' around our apartment lately back then, yet in no way did it catch my attention enough to make me concerned. There were other things that were also happening; yet those didn't catch my attention so much either.

Some of those things that happened were while my husband and I began to fall asleep, after having just crawled into bed. Suddenly interrupting the quiet of our home, we'd hear loud crashing and banging sounds from what sounded like the kitchen. Thinking that it was an intruder, he'd immediately leap out of bed to investigate the clatter. While I was on edge waiting for him to return, I'd get that old familiar feeling of being watched. On one such occasion, my husband returned back to our room with a strange far-off gaze on his face. He told me he thought he'd seen bright flashes within the dark of our apartment. Without any signs of a break-in, and without going into further detail, we both dismissed it and fell asleep.

My 'strange' feelings finally took form late one night while both my husband and I lied asleep in bed. It's important to note here that I am an extremely deep sleeper; normally nothing wakes me up. But that night something did. I recall having strange cloudy dreams of someone walking around our bed, and particularly hanging around my side and leaning over me. Suddenly I woke up from these dreams. Although completely confused as to why I was awake, I had an intense feeling that we weren't alone. I raised my head and looked to the door. There I saw this bulky, four-legged animal-like thing crawling low on the floor and exiting our room. Nothing about it felt threatening or sinister, however. Just plain weird to see. I watched until it completely left the room, and then it faded away into the shadows outside our door. Then feeling sleep taking over again, I blacked out.

I wasn't going to submit this experience, but it's just odd and I haven't forgotten it. I know the best argument against this is that it happened late at night, so it could seem like my mind was just confusing a dream. Anyway, since this happened we haven't been startled late at night by loud crashing noises in the kitchen. Neither have I had that 'feeling' anymore. So whatever it really was, I'm just glad we can sleep now! (Knock on wood, ha-ha)

Very intiguing as to what the four-leggeded 'thing' could be. Hmm. Best of luck to you and your family.

All right - since I'm notorious for being the Dumb Blonde around here, I have to admit I fell for this bigger than crap 😆. I started out laughing because everything seemed to be about clowns, and then was like OMG, OMG someone has compromised YGS.

So, thank you Javelina and BadJuuJuu for pointing out that this is, indeed, a GREAT April Fool's joke. I feel so much better now ❤.

Martin...shaking head and 😆.

aya22,
A little bit weird? Do you ever get to thinking that you, yourself, may be a test kitchen for these entities? Kidding of course, kind of. But it did cross my mind when you said you haven't had any noticeable activity since you witnessed the creature exiting your bedroom that night. Didn't it seem like it gave up on you rather quickly?
But I'm comparing this experience with the ones at your moms house when you were living there, so maybe it doesn't apply.
Anyway, you sure have had some frightening experiences in your life, and the fact that you didn't feel you had anything to be afraid of suggests that what you're doing by ignoring it, thereby you deny it life, seems to work in this instance.
Keep on doing what you're doing now, it seems to bring you positive results. And like they say, "If it ain't broke don't fix it."
Thanks for bringing your stories here to share with everyone aya, I know I'm not the only one who enjoys them. 😊

aya: Well, considering that you've gone through your checklist of posibilities, I think we can safely say that this is a BIG bit of weird! 😆...And I'm going to echo Miracles, and suggest that you document this experience, so if it happens repeatedly at least you'll know when to expect it 😊

Anyway, thanks for posting this spooky bit of weird... ❤

lynrinth, lol, I should've clarified that. I don't really attract four-legged things... That's why I was so weirded out by this! 😉

Something four legged crawling out of your room? And you kind of 'attract' these things? Um... I think I would run screaming from the apartment and go live in a boarding house! Surrounded by people. Well, you said you didn't feel threatened by it. That's good. And you had strange things come and go throughout your life. I guess...that's good, too. But... Just be careful. The next time. So far I've never attracted any bad either. I just keeping praying all the time.

aya: I would have to look into the possibility of an opossum, too... What is the landscape like around your building?...Any large trees close to the roofline?...An opossum will climb just about anything to get to a food source, as will a racoon or even a large tom-cat...You live in Colorado, so I'm assuming your roof is pitched (most of the roofs here are flat with just enough slant to drain the little bit of rain we get), do you have access to it?...Also, if you live near mountains, have you thought of a bobcat?...Although, I'm pretty sure you'd have recognised it as that! 😆 ❤

Yes, I have thought about what I saw being an animal too. I always try to 'debunk' things before assuming it is something out of the normal. Yet while I was trying to debunk this, I have discovered no possible way for an animal to get in our apartment. We are on the top floor, all windows and doors were closed that night due to it being cold outside, and there is no access to an attic. There are no places for an animal to hide, either. Our ceilings are just fine, with no evidence of animals making their way through them. What I remember of what I saw is that it was fairly large and bulky-looking, almost taking up the entire width of the door as it crawled out. 😕

Hey everyone, thank you for reading this. Your thoughts are appreciated! 😁

Now, just a little clarification as to the details of our apartment: It is the first place my husband and I have had together. We live on the top floor, which is the fourth floor (three levels are apartment units, the bottom level is garages). There is no access to an attic. Built around us are more apartment structures, as we live on the top of a hill with a great view of the mountains behind us and city below us. Surrounding the apartments are residential areas and parks.

LOL, my first thought when we heard the kitchen ruckus was that either an intruder or an animal had gotten in. Upon my husband investigating, we discovered signs of neither. We are also fairly high up for an animal to reach, and all doors and windows were closed due to it being so cold outside. The best way I can describe what my husband and I heard coming from the kitchen was like the sound of pots and pans being violently thrown around. The weird part is, is that nothing was out of its place.

Since I've submitted this, I've been coming up with a theory as to what this was. I feel that whatever this was occurring within our apartment might have been 'something' just passing through and kind of curiously 'checking' me out. I've always attracted things, because odd occurrences have followed me wherever I go in life, even for others around me to witness. The thing is, due to a bad experience I had several years ago that scared even me, I have since then quit giving anything attention. I pretend as if they don't exist when they enter into MY life. After all, whatever was causing weird things to happen within our apartment is gone now. That's the way I like it! 😊

A very good friend of mine once had a mother raccoon tear through her roof, make a home in her attic, and occasionally sneak out of the attic to prowl around the house. Took my friend and her hubby a lot of trouble to evict said squatter.
At one of my old jobs, we had a raccoon that took up residence in the shed out by the employee parking. This raccoon would crawl into the bed of my truck every evening, her tracks were all over the tail gate and bed liner. Don't know why she did it, I didn't store snacks in there, but every night, fresh tracks. Raccoons are quirky little beasts, and raccoons that are accustomed to being near humans are pretty bold. Cosmo's idea makes sense to me. An urban raccoon can be one heck of a troublesome critter. Cute, but troublesome.

If it's a raccoon, it's a mightily unusual one. They are curious critters all right, but usually only after food. Why it'd come into your bedroom is beyond me. They normally do everything they can to avoid humans. Unless you're keeping snacks or other edibles by your bed...
Any doorways/hatches into the attic or crawlspace in the kitchen?

Hi aya, I got the impression that maybe it was a raccoon or possum that got in. It probably hid during the day and came out looking for food at night. Which would explain the loud bangs and the creature you saw crawling out of your room. But of course my theory depends on where you live and if it's possible one of these animals can get into your apartment. 😳 Anyway I'm glad you haven't had any further problems with this. Thanks for sharing another story. 😊 ❤

hmmm... I don't know too much about the being that take on the animal type shape. I had one outside my house once. I felt the animal I didn't see it but when I approached the area to where it was it ran away. Maybe they are just animals 😕

Thtat was an interesting story of different experiences. However I wanted to make a comment. When you said that the being/spirit didn't seem sinister or evil I just wanted to say that that does not always mean its not evil or anything like that. Sometimes an evil spirit will try and make it seem like its not evil to try and make you feel more comfortable with it and then it will start turning evil (not trying to scare you or anything). However you said that the noises have stopped, you haven't seen anything, and that you can sleep again. Maybe the spirit was a previous owner or used to live on the land and has figured that your family is the new owners and decided to move on.

Peace
