I am the first owner of my residence. My house was built in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina destroyed my prior residence. The land the house was built on was woods and never had a structure on it before mine. This August makes 7 years of residing in my home, however, for 6 of those years I have had paranormal happenings in the house. The first year I lived in my house, it was peaceful and quiet and I never suspected anything amiss but the longer I am here the more the activity increases.
As a note, it would only be fair to mention that every residence I have lived in I have experienced unexplained things and in my childhood I have had very negative experiences with the paranormal that has unfortunately colored my outlook on it.
The activity started in my master bedroom and seems to have spread out from there. In my bedroom (not while sleeping or laying down) I have experienced my name being called, a shadow once passed over the window and momentarily blocked out the light. I have seen an orb; it was electric blue in color and the size between a baseball and softball. When the orb spotted me looking at it, it "ran" into the wall of my closet and I haven't seen it since. In the bedroom, while lying in bed, I have felt something sit down on the edge and I was able to see the weight imprint on the bed.
In the kitchen, I have seen a glass move on the counter to 2 inches away from its spot. The same day, I was getting something out the refrigerator, and when I closed the door, something started knocking on the freezer door in front of my face. I stood and watched for a sec, then told it to stop and it complied.
In my living room, I have heard voices like "she's back" when I returned from work one day and popping noises in the middle of the room. I did do a check of the electrical stuff but uncovered nothing to warrant the noise. When I heard the 'she's back' that kind of clued me in to there being more than one entity in the house.
Lately, I have been having issues with the hallway. I hear footsteps, they are loud and the owner walks with purpose. It sounds like someone walking through my house with heavy boots on. My cat notices the sound too and he always looks in that direction. The footsteps stop at the doorway of whatever room I am in. It feels like someone is just standing there watching me but all I see is empty space.
The last occurrence I had with this was 2 weeks ago. I heard the footsteps coming down the hall and it stopped by the guest room (where I was) and something spoke my name. I summoned up some courage and asked "who's there?" I didn't expect a reply because I have asked that question before with no response but this time it answered "me". Now, I have no idea who 'me' is. It was a male's voice and I didn't recognize it. I also feel like I don't know him and never did. I left it at that and didn't ask more questions because I was really scared at that point.
To be honest, the activity has been scary for me but I don't think that whatever is in my space is trying to scare me. I have never been touched in an inappropriate way or pushed or shoved. The only time it was something bad was in my office, something said in my ear "get out" and the voice was forceful and breathy. I left my house that day scared but as I was driving, I got mad at myself and turned around and drove home. When I arrived I went back into the office and gave the air a piece of my mind. That happened the second year of activity and after I said something I haven't had anymore negativity like that.
I understand how this all sounds but I have long ago accepted that I am not nuts and something is happening around me. I did seek out someone who claimed to be psychic/medium but unfortunately, I was told I couldn't be helped. I don't know why.
Does anyone have any comments on what is going on or similar experiences? I am open to discussion and friendly advice. Thank you.

Rookdygin - As it happens, I am burning sandalwood incense now. After I read your comment, I went digging in my cabinets to find some. Admittedly, I don't know much about the different uses for incense, but thanks for the info.
The whole area I now live in is wooded and as far as I know, no houses were taken from this area due to Katrina. I know when I bought the land, it had a huge dip in the front yard from an old tree that was uprooted from the winds.
I like the idea of the cleansing and I have tried to imagine the white light surrounding me. I do think a prayer works best for me. One night, I sat down and prayed for anything that means me harm to be removed from the house. After the prayer, I had the best night sleep in years. It was so peaceful. Thank you for the recipe, I will be using it too.
SirenBelva - reaching out to a paranormal society has crossed my mind but I am not quite ready to do that yet.
Pjod - I agree, everyone can be helped in some way or another. I that is happening for me on this forum. I think what happened with the psychic/medium is that she didn't have any answers for me and instead of saying that or directing me to a book for research, she just told me I couldn't be helped. It's kind of sad when you think about it. Thanks for the comment.
Update: Two nights ago in my living room, I was standing in the middle of the floor looking at the TV and a drop of water fell onto my left hand in-between the space of the thumb and pointer finger. I touched the droplet and it was water. I looked up and I saw another one falling straight down and landed in the same spot on my hand. My ceiling is 10ft, so when I looked up, I only caught the droplet falling from about 8ft. I pulled out my 6ft ladder and checked the ceiling for pooled water or wetness but I found nothing. I don't know if this is paranormal or not and I have never experienced anything like that before. I am still a little baffled by that one.
