One Night in Bachelor's Grove

A couple of years ago me and some friends decided to visit the most haunted cemetery in the Chicagoland area, Bachelor's Grove. It is, indeed, a very haunted place. We brought a camera with us to take some pictures with the hope of capturing a few spooky things. The five of us wondered around for an hour or two in the pitch dark of night without a flashlight on hand (we weren't supposed to be there since the cemetery closes before sundown and we didn't want the authorities to find any activity out in the cemetery).

Picture of Mist Ghost We all felt a lot of energy surrounding us. It was a depressing site to see though. Bachelor's Grove has been abandoned for years and there seems to have been a lot of disrespect done to the place. There was writing on some of the tombstones and garbage on the grounds of what's left for these souls to rest in peace on. Even though we didn't see anything, the energy we felt alone was freaky enough.

Picture of Orb We took a couple of pictures and headed out to a long dark path down the road. As we almost exit the entrance, we all felt and heard something behind us so a friend decided to take a picture. He got them developed and discovered a misty ghost face in a grave that had been vandalized by a couple of punks a few years back. A bright lit orb was also caught right behind me as we all headed out the cemetery that night.

I guess what we all felt and heard that night wasn't just our imagination playing tricks on us after all.

Thanks for posting this. I have been to Bachelor's Grove, it has a very creepy feeling. While I was there, I noticed there were no animals around. It was quiet, and I felt like I was being watched. Would love to go back, I actually don't live too far. Again, thanks for sharing 😁

Wow, pic 1 shows there is SOMETHING there. It looks like a mist, a spirit, and I think it is cause its a cemetary! 😲

I like picture 1 there's something there. Maybe its fog of a white ghost. Thanks for sharing your story and pictures with us. 😊

That first picture was surely something there, but in the second picture all I seen was an orb like ball of light. Thanks for sharing 😊

It's very possible that that's not an orb, but a reflection. You never know though.

Gets me mad how people have no consideration for the dead. Its kind of gets me thinking that when I'm burried, whose going to jack up the cemetery I'm buried in. 😠 But anyways... Cool story. Me and my cousins used to go to this cemetery in Redlands CA. (I still go) and bring our cameras just in case we saw or heard anything. I just like being in ceneteries, somehow I always feel at peace. ❤

Sunshine, that was a great story, the photos too! I'm really glad you sent it in for us to read. It is too bad that people do such terrible things to cemeteries. I'll bet the mist was from the vandalized grave, an unhappy spirit. Shane has a good idea in cleaning the place up! Thanks for the story and pics! 😊

Martin, you young whipper snapper you. Playing tricks on an old man like that. 😆 I kind of figured that is what happened, that it got added later. But you never know. I have sometimes been so involved with another story that I will jump to another one and miss the one in between. Thanks for the heads up though.

Peace, Love, and Luck be with you.

Thanks for posting this, but I'm surprized you got into the cemetary at all, that place has been plagued with bad luck and I'm surprized security wasn't better. I think the idea of a clean up is great, with high security it could actually become a tourist site! I always wonder why old, abandon, and often haunted, sites become so vandelized. When Monte Cristo, the most haunted house in Australia, was between owners it was subject to a lot of destruction and violance. Now it's a beautiful bed and breakfast and it's always fully booked, so there is hope out there.

Shane, the reason you missed this story is I had to send them a request for the photos before I published it (wouldn't be much of a story without it), and they sent it to me today. That's why it only appeared a few hours ago today in the left column with its original timeline (sometimes I reset them if they're not going to appear in the latest list to give them exposure).

Anyway, I wouldn't want you to think you're getting old or anything 😆

(Pardon again Sunshine)

Awwwwe--Shucks, Shane the feeling's mutual. I know I say play and choose no faves, but I am glad that our level of awareness is fair to middling or pretty darn close. ;) Thanks for being there for me and most of all thanks for getting me and who I really am! :) No offense to any other readers, but Shane and I go back a few posts. Hope I'll be there when you make 1,000!

Love Ya', Blessings,--Abby ❤

(Pardon Sunshine) Abby, I couldn't agree with you more. I have seen Chi town, and with as much travel as I have done other large cities around the world. I have also seen the destruction that sunshine described in Bachelors grove in other cemetaries large and small. Very disgusting and very sad. I do remember Chief Iron Eyes Cody, very well, may he rest in peace. One of my favorite ads of all times. Thank you for the trip down memory lane Abby. 😊 You always know how to bring a smile to my face. With lots of love and great admiration. ❤

Peace, Love, and Luck be with you.

Dear Shane (pardon sunshine and thanks),

Glad you found this story and made your comment, as always I admire your heart, caring and your point which was well made here. I also totally agree with your comment on all counts. Yet, have you seen Chicago areas, not to mention many areas on this earth lately? Disgusting. :( Tear rolls down cheek... Remember that old TV ad. You would think the human race would get it by now? --Abby ❤

Don't know how I missed this one the first time around, but I did. Thank you sunshine for sharing your experience with us. It is a shame what some people will do when they are at a cemetary. I guess defiling the grave of someone they don't know makes them feel better about themselves. Well to quote a latin phrase Eran quod es, eris qoud sum, translates to I was what you are, you will be what I am, would certainly apply to those kind of people. Wonder how they will like having their final resting place damamged? Sorry sunshine touchy subject for me. Maybe you and your friends could get a project together to clean up the old place. I am sure the restless souls wandering there would appreciate it. Thanks again sunshine.

Peace, Love, and Luck be with you always.
