Hand Grabbed My Foot

First of all I will give you a bit of background information on my house. Although I don't think that this spirit, whether evil or just mischievous, has anything to do with the history of my house, it might do and you guys could help me figure out what this thing was or where it came from. This story took place around 1-2 years ago and has never happened to me before or since then, making me think it was my imagination but it felt extremely real and freaked me out to no end.

Onto the history of my house. My house was built in the 1600's originally as a church, and was converted into a school in the 1800's so my house is around 400 years old. My dad then converted it in around the year 2000 into the house that stands there now. There are a few files written on the history of my house, and reading through all of them I do not know of any deaths or bad things that have happened here, however, just up the street there is a church and a graveyard (I don't think that's really relevant but I mentioned it just in case).

Finally onto the story! One evening, back when I was around 13 or 14, I was in my bedroom and I was sitting on the edge of my bed with my feet on the ground. My bed is the kind where it's lifted off the ground and you could crawl under it, which kind of makes the whole story creepier. So anyway, I was just sitting there and I can't remember what I was doing although it was probably just watching TV or daydreaming. Suddenly, and I mean extremely suddenly, I felt a hand grab the back of my foot with a really tight grip and I probably tried tugging my foot away for 5 or 10 seconds until the hand finally just disappeared. I remember I didn't look down to see if there was anything there, I was just kind of looking at the window while I was trying my hardest to get my foot out of that hand. With the grip coming from the back of my foot, it only really makes sense for it to have come from under the bed. Then I did what annoys most people when they watch horror movies, and I looked under the bed to see if anything was there (it did take me a couple of minutes to gather up the courage). Low and behold, there was nothing there, just the usual suitcase and boxes I keep under there.

First of all, it couldn't have been any of my family members because I'm pretty sure I'm not blind enough to have not seen them when I looked under my bed and second of all, even I can barely fit under there with all the stuff I store there and I'm pretty small and skinny. My family also aren't the 'prankster' kind and I would've definitely heard them coming in and out of my room and crawling under and back out of my bed, so we're definitely ruling out any sort of prank.

Although this scared the crap out of me and even to this day I refuse to put my feet near the underside of my bed, I don't think it was evil because it didn't grab my foot to cause me pain or to try and push me off the bed or something. Also, I'm a complete scaredy cat so if I gathered up enough courage to look under the bed then there surely wasn't any aura evil enough around that told me to get out of the room or not to look under the bed.

I would like your guys' opinion on what this thing was because, as I said before, nothing like this has ever happened to me before or since then and I don't have any evil or bad spirits in my house. I've heard of spirits 'passing through', so perhaps it was just some spirit looking for a bit of fun? I've never really been sure of what had happened, and now that I've found this website hopefully some of you guys with a bit more experience in the paranormal than me can help! Thank you for reading my story.

Hello,

I go with the other posters in thinking that the spirit you encountered was by no means an evil one. Maybe it just wanted to get in contact with you, but when it sensed your fear, it quickly let go and never bothered you again.
That might explain why you never had any more experiences of that kind.

Johnny_Blart,

There are spirits that 'thrive' on the energy that a 'good or sudden scare' generated by individuals provides. Every spirit is different, just as we are... And different types and levels of energy sustain them.

Hope this answer your question.

Respectfully,

Rook

It was very scary at the time that it happened, but I don't think the spirit that did it was evil in trying to cause me pain or anything so I still feel quite comfortable being in my room even though I'm scared of putting my hands or feet under the bed 😆.
Maybe if it was a prankster ghost (especially a 'young' one) it was just feeling a bit lonely and wanted attention or something. I'm not an expert in the paranormal so it's just a guess 😕.

Wow! It must be a real scary time for you. If we believe Tweed that it was a prankster boy ghost, I just wonder what he intended by catching your foot?

Tweed:
A prankster ghost boy teasing a girl Lol😆.
By the way are their really such ghosts? (Sorry, not an expert so asked)

Hi Tweed,
I must say my mind is a bit more at ease now that someone else also thinks it might've just been a mischievous ghost 😆.
You are in fact right in saying that my house is in the countryside! I believe the school was provided for children of mostly low to medium wealth and I think it was also quite a happy place (as you suggested), seeing as the files written on my house do mention things like giving children small presents for special events or holidays etc., and not anything particularly bad except for things like the occasional caning of a child 😐.
I am also in fact female, and reading through the files I have read about some of the younger boys playing pranks and being naughty (what else can you expect from young boys?) 😆. Now that you've mentioned it, it sounds to me like a good possibility it was a spirit from days gone. I've never really thought about it like that before!

Hi there Carisma,

I say trust your gut feelings on this one. If it hasn't happened before or since it may have just been a prankster ghost looking for a laugh.

In my opinion the history of your home is probably relevant to how you *feel*. As in you said you're a scaredy cat and that you would've sensed 'evil' if it was around. That's a very good instinct to have. I'm guessing your home is out in the country perhaps? A lot of churches which were converted to schools were happy places, or much happier places than a lot of stiff upper lip type establishments. In a time when religion was beginning to branch out and new forms of worship and belief were being formed. A lot of the churches around that time, particularly those which were converted into schools, were run by liberated people, early socialist 'left wing' types. Most of the churches converted into schools were public schools for all with an emphasis on educating the poor, not just the wealthy.

So if your home history has anything to do with it, I'd say it's a prankster from days gone. Are you female? (Sounds like a weird thing to ask!) Well if you are, maybe this ghost was a boy who enjoyed teasing the girls. 😆
