Real Ghost Stories

Footsteps, House Settling,Touches, Tapping and Other Noises

I just moved into an apartment in August, due to a divorce... me AND my roommate have both had a "third resident" feeling ever since then. Though, his experiences are different from mine... I do have the master bedroom and I think that is where this ghost lived.

I have narrowed down the timeframe to roughly Midnight PT - 2:00AM PT. Before I noticed the activity between 1:00 am and 2:00 am. But since the winter time change, it has moved up an hour to 12:00AM to 1:00AM. Makes sense, if it is a residual haunting - the event will play back at the time it originally occurred, so the hour difference coincides with the haunting.

I can tell when it is "there" as I start to hear house settling noises, like the walls creaking. Or when someone walks, you can sometimes hear the house settling around them in response. Well, I hear that noise... But no one is around and my roommate is asleep on the other side of the apartment.

Last night, something sat on the edge of my bed. I felt the bed frame "give" a little bit. This happened 3 times. I also hear footsteps walking around the perimeter of my bed. Then they sometimes go into my bathroom which is adjoined to my room. I hear my vertical blinds tapping against each other some times. Like someone is trailing their hand across them all as they walk by. Not violent like, just light touches. I felt something touch my chin when I was laying in bed, on my back with the covers pulled up to my mouth. Like when a cat will gently paw your face... I felt something gently touch my chin through my covers.

I have heard things slump or bump in my closet, things that are neatly tucked away on shelves, that shouldn't move.

I heard a glass tip over in the sink the night before last (11/18/07) and immediately afterwards, the noises in my room started up.

I try not to be awake during these times (midnight - 2:00am), as they are very frightening, and I feel like a "sitting duck" every time it happens.

Sometime I hear someone leaning on my desk, or other little environmental disturbances. Pops, snaps, creaks, things like that.

This apartment building was built in 1981, so it isn't that old. The house settling noises ALWAYS occur at this time... And never any other time. I am very observant by nature, and like to determine a logical answer before I turn to this type of thing. But since day 1, me and my roomie have both said "do you feel something here?" and we both agreed "yes, and I definitely can tell it is male".

Any help?

usally if your house/apartment is hunted that means

1- it was murded in that house and wants revenge
2- it has left something in the house maybe a toy if if was a child
3- it was murded in your house and buried somewere in the area around your house
4- the house was built on top of a grave

Wow this is really similar to what I've been experiencing for the last six months. I now what you mean about house settling noises, I always know there's a spirit if I hear them. I have tried everything to get rid of my spirit as it terrifies me, it even played with my smoke detector this morning so I've been up since 4 o clock lol... Have you tried talking to them? If so did you get a response?

I also believe this 'haunting' to be harmless in nature given the information you have shared. I realize that does not make these occurances any less frightening! We are often scared of what we can not see and control.

You could hang a corss in the rooms of your home (especially the bedroom) and pray, tell 'it' to leave in the name of the Lord- but you must say it with conviction. Place a Bible on your night stand, read from it aloud, with conviction. Tell 'it' to cross over to peace and harmony.

If this does not fit within your belief system, there are smudge ceremonies that work well, also could try use of sun charged smoke crytals, they have very positive energy.

Please keeo us posted!

God Bless!

dear IsisnOsiris, you know the last place I lived, it started out just as you described, form the little banging noises etc, to the most softest of gentle touches on the cheek, mine seemed to like my ensuite bathroom, and would get testy if I shut the door, from my bedroom into there. But this haunting or whatever it was escalated into eventually very voilent behaviour, with it physically trying to harm me. So maybe say some prayers or ask for protection, it may not be a harmful one, but its it better to be prepared. Not trying to scare you but it just sounds a lot like how mine started out, it even used to open my bedroom door for me as I walked up the hallway, stuff like that doesn't scare me, I have lived in so many haunted houses, so thought this one was just another, mine also occured between hours of 12pm to 2.50 am. See if you can get a camera out, that has a flash and take some pics when you "feel"it is there, I have taken heaps of pics of orbs. Cheers caitlin

what I think it is is a person that had died in that house and stayed in it and didn't want to leave so I think your hearing things that the person did when they lived in that house and they only do it at midnight-1:00 becasue they think thjat your sleeping and when they tuched your chin then they where tuching someone when they where alive and thought that you where the person

P.S. I hope I made sence 😆

Yes, it does appear to be a harmless entity, though I know to hear these things, that is not the thought that would go through MY mind. I do not know much about residual haunting, except what Shane has taught me, but that would make sense because of the time change thing. But if it is just a recording of time, I have no idea on how to stop that. As for a spirit, listen to the other two posts so far. Good advice there. Thank you for your story.

Hi IsisnOsirus. I agree with Bellissima. It does sound harmless but if it is making you uncomfortable you need to let it know. Make sure to say it in a polite manner. We wouldn't want to be rude and upset any ghosties! Tell s/he that they need to go to the light, as they say. ~Shelby ❤

Hi, IsisnOsirus. You brought up something that I have never thought of before - the time change. You're right, it wouldn't make any difference to a spirit what time the clock reads, that's interesting. You are very observant! It sounds as if things are fairly innocent, nothing too frightening. It almost sounds as if the spirit is looking after you. I wouldn't worry too much. You could just nicely ask the spirit to leave, explain that it doesn't belong there, it makes you uncomfortable and it needs to pass over and be with the loved ones waiting for it. Maybe s/he isn't aware that they need to pass on. I hope that helps and sends your 'roomie' packing. I enjoyed reading your story, thanks.
