I am glad I missed it because you know the queen of sassy frass (aka me) would have opened a new one if it hit a nerve, which it sounds like it did for BJJ and Miracles. So I am going to cheer from the sidelines 😆 😆 😆

Whoa! Mimisqueeze, I think you'd better take your sermons to another site. One that might appreciate you.

Coming onto our site, casting judgement when you personally don't know our members, is above and beyond rude. And just so you know, it will not be tolerated. We don't tolerate this bs from members who have been active on our site for years; we certainly aren't going to take it from you. No matter who you might be.

You deliberately sought out one of BJJ's stories, making it personal. Not going to fly. I've deleted your comment, just so you aren't under the wrong assumption that BJJ may have.

Unlike other members who have tried this before, you don't get a warning. Your comments will be deleted.

Hi Darkangel, and sorry I only just noticed your comment. I'm useless at checking comments. 😭
I think if I saw something walk through the bathroom while I was in the shower, I'd freak out. The bathroom is just one spot that should be solitary. It isn't always lol, but it should be.
The soldier was a scary, but incredibly sad presence. I think he's in a better place now, and I'm happy for him to have found his way off this plane. He deserved better than being stuck here.

Hey BadJuujuu I know that I never understood Religious/Christians/Catholic people, they believe in the Holy Ghost, Jesus etc but don't believe in ghosts. I kind of of relate to the whole Over Religious family, I had that growing up but not to the extent you went through. I am wondering about your soldier, because I have one that took a liking to me. He stays with me along with a few others. I have no problem with the spirit world, just as long as they don't affect my life. We will get along. I had an new experience last night while in the shower, I seen a shadow walk from left to right in my bathroom, I had a candle burning so imagine my surprise when I seen that?! I jump out and flipped that light on quick! I enjoyed your story. Look forward to reading more of your personal experiences.

Bjj, I thought of you earlier today (Sunday, July 14, 2013). Do you ever read comic strips? You should check out today's "Nonsequitor". I wish I had a link for you, but I get it with an app on my phone. 😉

Elfstone, I'm bad about that myself lol. I usually have a dozen books scattered around the desk, cause I know I'll want to quote something eventually and not remember what it's from. 😭
Swimsinfire, it kind of boggles the mind doesn't it? There are a lot of beautiful truths in the Bible that get overlooked. Between things that are just plain ignored or mistranslated, it seems questionable (imo) to base one's truth on a single book. Take what feels true in the heart, and leave the bits about not eating shellfish. 😆

Gosh that's sad and heartening. I remember -in a searching stage- of getting hooked by some sketchymotos like you describe and going with it for a bit. You know what's sad? In the bible it acknowledges "there are so many voices in this world, of tangible and intangible." but everybody forgets that part while they drive right over what follows it, "without love, i'm nothing." I'm with everybody though, it's made you a fun poster, and avid for the facts. Great story. Thanks.

Bjj, I'll try to find them. I think one was about a civil war general and I think his home is now a museum. The second story wasn't exactly a battle being fought. The soldier (again a commanding officer, possibly another general) appears in his old home with all his men. When they first appear, they're all in fine uniforms like for a parade or something. Then they transform into the tattered corpses they were after the battle.

Unfortunately, while I have a good memory for what I read, I have a bad memory for where I read it. I'll look, though. 😳

G'morning
Lady-glow, thanks for reading. 😊
Seraphina, thanks! Every day is new learning experience for me as well. There is just too much that makes little or no sense in the world, and trying to figure it all out is my favorite form of education. This site presents a lot of mental puzzles, and I may go awhile without commenting on anything but I'm usually lurking, reading, and thinking. Elfstone, it was a challenge to accept my questions and not feel guilty about having them. Questions implied doubt, doubt is a sin, blah-dy blah. I was terrible at being a fundamentalist lol. I wish you had a link or something for those stories, they sound fascinating. Love your name btw.
Fergie, I don't think anyone has ever accused me of being well grounded before lol. Thank you, it's a nice change from space case😆. I was always fascinated by ghost stories, sci-fi, anything out of the ordinary. I snuck in as much Stephen King as I could back then. It was a nice counterpoint to Pilgrim's Progress, Little Pilgrim's Progress, and worst of all, Those Kids in Proverbsville. /cringe

BJJ, I too was brought up in a very religious home, but not as dogmatic as you. The only spirit I ever heard about back then was the Holy Spirit. As I got to about 10 years old, I was allowed to read books from the library; these soon included books of science-fiction and the supernatural. Up until I was 25, stories of ghosts, were just that, stories! I was a mother of three, when I started questioning my eye sight and/or sanity.

I am sorry you had to go through all that you did; it seems as if you have emerged as a well grounded adult. I take my hat off to you! 😐

Thank you for sharing. ❤

Thank you for a fascinating account of your upbringing and kudos to you for having the wherewithal to question what you were told and come to your own conclusions.

The story about the soldier is really interesting. I'm thinking you're right about him being one of the men from your area who went to fight. Actually, in as much as you experienced a vision of the battle while in a house nowhere near a battlefield, your story reminds me of two others I've heard. Both involved spectral battles being fought in the homes of men who died in them. (Sorry I don't remember more details.)

Hello all. 😊
Granny, for the longest I thought there had to be something wrong with me, but I've come to realize everyone thinks that at first lmao. It's kind of sad just how common my story is. I've seen a few stories on here that are similar in that no one believes them, the person feels isolated and scared and have no support system at all. As to looking for the who, what, where, and why, I think I would've gone bananas by now if I hadn't started trying to figure things out. Watching Ghost Hunters back in the day, watching them try to debunk everything, gave me the guts to look into things that go bump in the night. Instead of huddling in a corner crying, I started trying to "solve" things. That took me from scared, to being in charge of my fear and coping. Thank all that is holy for Jason and Grant lol.
Miracles, I know when I read experiences on here that are like mine, I feel better about it all. As alone as I felt back then, I know now I'm not and never was even if I didn't know it back then. I kind of hope this can give someone else that same feeling of "not alone" that I've gotten here.
Seeker, one the one hand, I'm sorry to hear you had the whackadoodle experience as well. On the other hand, you get it! Squee! I feel like if I hadn't had the crazy religious past, I wouldn't be able to truly value where I am now. I actually don't have a word for my current spiritual path, it's sort of a mix of many different paths, but it works for me. As to the soldier, there were moments with him that I got the impression I reminded him of someone. I do believe in past lives, and I believe he attached himself to me for some reason that was deeply personal to him. Whether we once knew each other, I don't know, but I think he thought I should've recognized him. It was a complicated situation all around, and I genuinely hope he's at peace.
Val, thank you. I'm glad to be me, as fundamentally fracked up as I am, I wouldn't want to be anyone else.
I know what you and Miracles mean about deleting stuff before sending it. I do that all the time. Sometimes I end up not saying anything at all, because I just don't know how. Some days I just can't find my words, and other days I can't be hushed. The days I can't find my words are probably better for everyone. 😆
Thanks everyone ❤

BJJ,
I've sat here and written perhaps a half dozen comments on your story, and didn't send any of them. They just felt inadequate. Instead, I'll just leave you with this:
Never regret your past. For if your past were not your past, then you would not be you.
And I am very glad you are you. 😊

Hi Badjuujuu,
I enjoyed your submission. You are very believable and witty.
I so identified with your "whackadoodle" analogy. Lol
Lived an almost parallel life to yours with the religiosity and the labeling of it's either God or a devil, demons etc...
The good news is that religion is a schoolmaster and you have gone on to a "truth" that sits right with you.
I don't know what beliefs you hold now. However, my impression of the confederate soldier is that he was a friend of yours in a prior life. Does that resonate with you?
Thanks for sharing.

Blessed Be 😊

BJJ: Thank you for giving us a glimpse into your development with the paranormal. Sadly enough, there are many of us who can relate in one way or another to your childhood and the seeming lack of understanding from adults and peers. For a lot of us, this kind of treatment still continues LOL! But it's all good.

I think you raised a great point. Just because we believe in ghosts, etc., doesn't mean that every odd occurrence is paranormal and in searching for "who, what, where, why" tends to make one less fearful. Knowledge is power and the key to understanding.

Thank you again!❤
