Valkricry- That is insane! I have heard of ouija boards returning to owners, but never cards... That would have freaked me out big time, so do you know what force was behind the board and cards?

Miss Val, Imagine my delight when I saw that you had submitted another adventure. You obviously knocked this out of the park as well.
What wisdom you showed not surrendering to the temptation from the Ouija board. I wish I could say that I would have done the same.
I like the point that BBG brought up of the cards dealing with that nasty old board. Warms my heart when the good triumphs over the evil.
Thank you for sharing this and all the others. Will be waiting on your next!

Val - ya, that's what came across. Would be no danger of whatever it was tempting me - I wouldn't TOUCH a Ouija or dabble with any divination technique. Now, if it were tempting me with Ben & Jerry's Fudge Brownie ice cream... Might be another story.

babygoatpuller,
I'm with you! Totally weird. (And if I had known the cards could do that, I probably would have tossed them in before calling Father Joe!)
I was a bit paranoid for awhile after - half expecting to see the board just show up again. My luck with the planchette spelling out, "IM BACKKKKKK" lol.

TheNetherlands,
Thank you for your warm comment. I think that the majority of us would warn against using a board, ESPECIALLY when in a weakened state, but personally I don't think they're something to mess with any time.

Going right to my favs val. So weird! You tossed the deck into the closet when Father Joe showed up and moments later the ouija board is gone.
I think you're right about something not so good was wanting you to use it.
In my mind I'm seeing a good deck of multiplying Tarot cards kick the a$$ of a bad ouija board and booting it right out of there! 😆

Dear val,
While I was reading your story I got really sucked into it... It gave me goosebumps which usually means something is true even though I read it from someone I don't know and nothing around me could get a little attention. I had kind of the when I see a ouijaboard... Something says yes you can do it but some other part says no you know what it can cause... A whole lot of trouble.
Your story was kind of a reminder I don't ever going to use such a thing because it can do more harm than it will satisfy my curiosity.
Greetings TheNetherlands.

Agua,
What scared me most is I felt as if something was trying to manipulate me to do something against my will, and I wasn't sure I was strong enough to 'fight' it. It would have been so easy to give in, and believe anything that came through. Gut feelings like that are best listened to, at least in my experience.
Thanks for reading. 😊

Rook,
Actually, I did have another very similar experience with a deck of Tarots. I'd been to visit another brother, also in California, and he had a deck. When I got home and was unpacking, I found it on my bed. I thought he had slipped it into my bag as a 'gift', but he denied it. That deck too I gave away like 5 times, with always the same result - it would show back up. So, now I have two decks sitting in a drawer with no idea how they came into my possession.
The only difference that I can see in the two decks, is the first deck appeared without a box, just wrapped in a cloth, and the second in its original box.
You get extra cards, I get extra decks. What a marvelously weird world we live in, huh?

WOW! Fantastic experience. I'd have been pretty creeped out by that stuff too.

MystieGypsy,
I quite agree - we do need a WTH category! Lol I've wondered, now and then, if the cards 'took' the board somewhere. If such a thing were possible. It's all very, very weird.

Val,
Instant Fav. Having been in a similar situation (not a whole deck in my case) but the fact you ended up with 3 decks is interesting because I ended up with 3 extra cards... Please see:
It maybe be the number 3 plays a part in this...
It represents the Creative Child
People with a Life Path number 3 have a very high level of creativity and self expression.
Positive Characteristics: 3s are imaginative, expressive communicators and artists. They are tolerant, joyful, optimistic, inspiring, talented, jovial, youthful, dynamic... The list goes on and on!
Negative Characteristics: For as inspirational as 3s are, there is a price: they are often vain, extravagant and prone to complaining. Intolerance, hypocrisy, impatience and superficiality are par for the course when it comes to 3s.
Associated in Astrology with: Venus
Associated in Tarot with: The Empress
I am not sure if that 'helps' or not. I have yet to figure out 'WHY' my deck did what they did but maybe the things I have mentioned will help you.
Thank you for sharing.
Respectfully,
Rook

Miracles,
Well, to be honest, the answer to your questions are all sort of connected. After my father had told me they weren't his, I took them from the box for a look. They're the Rider-Waite design, the box says 'copy right 1971'. In the '70s, I was friends with a few psychics, and mediums. Some were quite old then, and have since passed on. However I don't get a distinct impression of whom these cards may have belonged to. The only thing truly 'distinct' is that they were wrapped (inside the box) in a square of red silk. Some claim this 'purifies' them or cleanses them from previous use. I know they don't come packaged that way, and they do have that 'used' feel to them. The best I can liken it to is the difference between a brand new never read book, and reading a copy from the library. Both may be in mint condition, but the feel is different.
I've used this particular deck perhaps half a dozen times, always with very accurate results, but I'm still most comfortable using a regular playing deck.

MystieGypsy - you would not believe the categories we have requested over the years, some of which have been approved/added. We have also requested additional rejection categories. Ironically enough, "WTH" was one requested, along with "Are You Freaking Kidding Me?!" Both were met with LOL

Methinks that YGS needs a special "WTH?!?" category...
This is really, really weird! And I'm stumped. If this had happened to me I believe I'd have been tempted to leave all my belongings and just run to the hills! You're much braver than I am! 😆
For some reason, when I read this, I had a feeling that the cards were put there for you by something positive. But, whatever caused the Ouija board incident just seemed up to no good.
I'm glad to hear that after the blessing you were left alone.

val - have to add this to my favorites because of its uniqueness. I have a few things: 1) have/do you use the cards? 2) is there any chance (and I know you've run things through you mind over the years) these could mean something to someone who has passed? 3) Is the deck a standard spiritual shop type deck, or is there something distinctly different about them?
Abrupt change of subject, sorry. Many years ago, when the movie "Witchboard" came out, I had a friend who watched it with a couple of her friends. She told me how badly that movie had scared her, that there were instances during the viewing that made her think her boyfriend was possessed (loose terminology as he had a psychological condition). She ended up taking the movie outside and put it in her car. Only to find it back in the house when she came back in.
Now, I admit at first I believed her because I never had a reason not to. But over the years I started realizing how gullible I really was and began questioning her honesty. I may have to reconsider that maybe she was telling me the truth after all.
Thanks for sharing this. I truly enjoyed reading it 😊

Yes, BGP's comment made me smile too. I can imagine the Tarot's slipping out of their pack and advancing upon the wicked OB like an army. Very cartoony. Lol
Well, aren't you sweet? Thanks for the lovely compliment!
