My Dogs Doppelganger

This happened to me a week ago, I was in my kitchen at about 9pm making myself a sandwich when I glanced up to look at the doorway which was to my right I saw what I thought was my dog I instantly looked back at the sandwich and glanced back up again to say to 'cookie' (my dog) "smell food can you?" I got as far as "smell..." and then my heart started to race he wasn't there I didn't here his claws click across the floor (tile in kitchen and hall and laminate in living room).

I, instantly not believing what I saw raced through to the living room where 'cookie' was fast asleep on the chair twitching and dreaming. I'd like to add at this point although my explanation made it seem like I looked away for a long time it was literally looked at the doppelganger 1 second passed then my sandwich then another second and looked up again.

It really confused me I looked for a possible explanation but there is no way my dog would have been fast enough to run back and look like he was asleep on the chair in the living room he's 11years and a little slower in his old age with arthritis. I then tried to tell myself it was a trick of the light but thinking about it the image of him standing the kitchen doorway was so clear I really thought it was him. I can't think of any other explanation I am very skeptical when it comes to the paranormal I have only had 1 other experience of the paranormal which I explained in a story I posted a while ago.

When I allowed myself to think that it must have been his doppelganger I felt a feeling of dred and panic don't know why as I don't fully understand what they represent and don't know much about them at all really only what I've read on here. The reason I am so skeptical of the paranormal is that I've not had much experience of it and I once went to a spiritualist circle thing with my friend the person who ran the group claimed to be a psychic/medium he looked at my aura and told me it was blue/green I forgotten what it means and that I have reoccurring pain in my foot I do not however and told him this but he was adamant I did he claimed that my grandfather was with me and his name was Charlie and he was a short man and made me a dolls house when I was little my grandfathers name is Joseph the other is Christopher and both were tall-average height and neither made me a dolls house.

He also instructed us through meditation rituals which I found very calming on awaking he would ask you what you experienced and tell you what your experiences mean spiritually. I never really experienced anything other than the calm and quiet also he made us join hands with a person and tell them the color they were thinking of I said green and the lady said it was correct but I felt she was just saying that to make me feel I had experienced clairvoyance?

Sorry for going off on a tangent has anyone experienced a doppelganger for themselves what do they represent? I have heard they bring bad news but I hope not also has anyone else experienced spiritualist circle things or mediums I do although believe genuine mediums exist.
