Floating Dowel Pin

I live near Verona, Ohio. I own a 70 acre farm I bought in 1994. Old farm buildings were built in late 1800's. The one barn was for drying tobacco, and had a tobacco stripping shed attached to the barn. From the time I lived there, it always seemed like weird happenings would go on in the tobacco barn. It got so strange I ended up hanging a old crucifixion picture, and it is still there today.

I converted the stripping shed to a work shop. Couple years ago I was restoring an old tricycle and had the frame in a vise that was left at the farm from years ago. Went to the house and came back to the shed. I went to the vice to work on the tricycle, looked up and there was a wood dowel pin hanging mid air. I look at it, and the dowel pin dropped to the floor.

I was shocked. I left the barn to collect my thoughts. I told myself I have to face whatever this is. I went back in and looked around. I tried putting a CD in the player, it would not operate. I finally got it to work, and I just set in there listening to music. I called it out to see if it would show itself, but nothing happened.

I was still shook-up that night at work. I could not believe what happened. Got home at 4:00 pm and went to bed. Didn't sleep very good. The next morning I decided I would go out in the barn, and try to figure out what happened.

Went into the shed, and I asked whatever it was to leave. I seen a figure out of the corner of my eye, but facing I could not see it. I went out into the barnyard and I seen a figure move across the yard heading to the northwest.

On and off over the past couple years I catch a glimpse out of the corner of my eye of something. I don't have the fears like I use to about ghost. I go out to the barn all the time. And I always think about some of the things that I have encountered out there. One time I even sprinkled Holy Water for Exorcism. It left a relaxing feeling out there.

Not too many people believed what happened. They asked me what was I drinking. Local farmer thought it was someone that lived on the farm in the 50's. My mom asked if they tried to hurt me.

Gawd blimey Miracles it's been happening a lot lately. Think I'll take a leaf from your book and start keeping a journal just for my dreams!

I too would love to hear any more stories you have Gfitz! Any more info might shed some light on who or what was responsible for the goings on at your property.

Oh Tweed - I love when things like that happen to me 😆 Sometimes I'm like wth? What does this have to do with anything? And eventually it becomes clear 😆 That's why I love my Journal LOL

Gfritz - I truly enjoyed reading about your experience. It made me think of an old farmer (my grandparents had a farm) who wanted you to know he was still around. I'm glad you were able to overcome your initial fear and investigate. I'm also very interested in reading other stories if you are willing to share them.

Hi Gregory and welcome.

Umm err yeh Ok this is going to make me sound like a total nut job lunatic and I apologize in advance for not having anything substantial to add.

Well, for some befuddling reason last night I dreamed that I was reading the words "Falling Dowel Pin" (not floating) and so to come here today and see your story title was outright confusing.

I live in Hertfordshire England so nowhere near your farm in Ohio. So it's just downright odd.

Currently going through a spot of bother with a ghost who I only glimpse sort of from the corner of my eye, like you described. Maybe we've experienced very similar things.
Also find that religious items tend to work wonders for clearing it away and creating a calm energy. I'm not even the slightest bit religious but I must give credit to these things which pretty much do the trick.

I wonder if the floating dowel pin was someones way of flexing their muscles. Kinda like "Hey looky here at what I can do, aren't I clever." Probably some nitwit who gets off on scaring people...unless.
Just had a thought; could the pin have been useful in your restoration job? Ha! Maybe they just wanted to help after all. 😊
