Hey J_S, Sorry about coming to your page and all I did enjoy your account though. I have a question for all of you. Anyone experience OBE or astral projections while completely lucid and aware of your surroundings? Just curious is all. Its weird that I do because I am not sure why? Just curious

Sahee, I see where you and Ivory are coming from. Now look at it this way. If you who have no clue of what is happening to you sought out the help of a witch doctor and the witch doctor explained to you how he/she can help, would you do what you are asked to do? Of course in my account of this event is different because the help I sought also happened to be related to me and knew exactly what I had to do in order not only to protect me but my entire bloodline. I hope this kind of gives you an idea of the magnitude of how bad it could have gotten had I "not" did what I had done. Have a great week and thanks for the advise.

I don't know if you wrote this exaggeratedly or I just read this overly animated... (I hope you understand my english) and i'm with ivory. No witch doctor can do such drastic thing, because they are respectfull to elementals.

Ivory, yes I do understand where you are coming from in regards to witch doctor's and elementals as we as Samoans have them in some variation. The only difference with our side is that some natural formations like a stone wall (naturally formed yet doesn't seem like it is in the right place) or a spring in the middle of a forest where the water looks so appealing yet you feel like if you do try to taste or take a dip in you would be in trouble. These places where I come from can be traced. Not all but some, especially when the parties involved know whose land the trespass had happened. This is where witch doctors have different approaches for different situations I guess we could call them. For my case, I had to whip the spirit whose bloodline is protected and housed I guess the rough translation in Samoan would be, because he/she is not supposed to manifest and bring harm to the living. Sometimes we go as far as digging someone up and burning the bones just to teach a cheeky/malevolent spirit a lesson. I did not mean to offend as I have said before. (it was not my intention). I was trying my best to explain my experience. I hope this helps.

I think it's the part about the tree that got some of us reaching for the Blankie... Most cultures that I'm familiar with revere elemental beings, tree spirits being amoung that classification...But, most cultures don't do the "head shrinking" thing (like the tribes in the Amazon region) either sooo😆...

It is because of this statement that I was hoping you would address Ivory's remarks. She is not from here either, and the culture she was raised in would seem to fit your stated parameters. Care to respond to that at all?

zzsgranny. YEs I am Samoan. Like critique, or disbelief, regardless all way to help is how I see it. You can believe or not, it is your choice. I just tried (and failed) to relay, my experience is all. If it comes across as farfetched, then my other experiences would literally blow your top.

Miracle, this was my first attempt at this and I know I did a crappy job of editing. The spirit in the tree knew who my ancestors were (my bloodline). My grandmother comes from a long line of soothesayers I believe they are called and witch doctors. Your definition of witch doctor and mine might differ in some ways but they are of the ones who deal in the paranormal. Spirits or entities here tend to target blame on bloodlines like this. I just want to point out that we're not here to critique your writing style, that's not the point of most of the criticism... This isn't a site for fiction or overly embelished accounts of experiences... We love to Google, and will research any claims made to attempt to reach an understanding of unfamiliar cultures... 😊

Trybal-Knyte - I was hoping some of the dust would settle a bit before asking this question, but you said something I'm not sure I understood.

You said, "You were chosen because your bloodline is my bloodline and the spirit knew that if it went after you, I would reply." Where my confusion lies is in your initial statement, "I am a military brat so I grew up in many different places before my father was stationed here and here is where I call home." I never got the connection in that sentence that one of your parents was American Samoan.

I thought I did Jav. The post was for you and Ivory. No I am not going after anyone, just people who could make me more credible I guess. This was my first attempt and I wanted to see how it would go.

OKay, for jav, in your culture elementals and tree spirits are revered as in mine. But we also have ghosts of bloodlines whose lineages have to some extent malevolent tendencies I believe is the phrase. I did not mean to do what I had done and believe when I had witnessed it happen for a different family for a different circumstance I did feel the way you do to. But I had to do what I had to in order for the spiritual bond to break before it sank in to my life.

Jav, Yes you have a point. I am not much of a writer and yes I could have done a better job of being more descriptive and inspected more. In my defense, Ill try to make you see what I had that day. The stores here are not large marts or supermarkets. They are almost like little shops or mom and pop shops. There is the door the 6-8 feet of cement slab and then the bus stop and paved road. Yes I had an idea of what people would talk about when it came to ghosts but would never in my life thought I would have seen one. When I say vanish I mean, I saw him there full physical form and turned my back. Took about 13 steps and he was gone. No groceries, no trace of him walking in either direction and no cars. The closest house was about 20 yards away.
The tree part I also could have been more clear. The trees trunk went from being kind of bloated or inflamed or swollen to looking like a firm barked tree afterward.
Thank you for the input I will try to use the critique to improve my relating of my experiences to you. I hope I didn't offend anyone if you have a question just ask. I will try to describe and explain it as clearly as I can.

Here's the deal. You went from taking a bag of groceries to the bus stop for an old man, to believing instantly that he was a spirit. He paid in cash? We're talking solid hard cash, right? Flesh and blood just like you or I. You did nothing to investigate whether he could have actually had another way home but was meeting them at the bus stop? A stranger approaches and you just go with their version of this guys disappearing act? That's all it takes for you to say it's a spirit? Just a stranger's word is good enough for you to make a serious judgement call. I say serious because of what happened after that. This whole thing may have been avoided had you perhaps done some everyday, run of the mill investigating. You claim that when she told you what it was, your response was:
"I looked at her with a what in the world are you talking about look on my face"
I find that hard to believe myself, as the next moment you were out the door and running.
You can't say you were taught any lesson about believing in spirits when you were already a believer before it started. Trying to make the reader think you were shocked over this revelation in order to give it credibility would have come off better had you not fallen over yourself in the process.
My problem with this account is what you did to that tree. That's where the whole thing fell apart for me. So, after that little party was over and the tree was then a bush...

its really rude talking to tree spirit that way. And your treatment of them is just plain evil. If your story have some truth in it or not, hurting someone or something that is several lifetime older than you is unexplainable. If you said that your grandma is a witch doctor? Blah! No witchdoctor would try to harm any elemental spirit, they could plead and ask them but no witchdoctor would harm them in the way you describe it.

Great reviews and bashing. Hey all is fun until it happens to you right. Trust when I say or dont. Like the site says its experiences that you have had. If you have never heard of a "talking tree" look it up. Indians, Arabians, Egyptians, many of the ancient and even Aboriginals have stories of forest spirits. In Samoa, they have attachments for many different reasons. Be it tree for one family line, a large boulder for another, a tooth for one. They all differ.
You should all read up on different cultures before you talk is all. Many of the spirits you classify are different in so many ways in other cultures. What you consider to be a residual haunting where you see (see through specters) are not seen here.
For the person who asked if the purchase made in real money, yes it was.
If you have never seen a village in Samoa (via Survivor) of googled american samoa, our bus stops are not like those in the states or in many places all over the world. If there bushes though, they must have been floating in the water of the beach about 15-20 feet behind the bus stop.
So like I said, no hurt or beaten feelings on my end. You actually made my day by taking up time in your day to mock/judge/or what ever you call it. Hey its all good. I was quite shocked that this story didn't catch heat by the time I got to it. I'm sorry, I have to share my favorite lines of the story:

"What are you doing to me? YOU were the ones who were disrespectful. You untaught, ungrateful little maggots?" (is it me or did the last part sound like a drill sergeant, is your dad a drill sergeant?) I then pulled out the belt and started whipping. I could hear him plead and beg for forgiveness and I just kept going. (You reminded me of a parent giving their child a spanking: " Didn't...i... Tell... You... To wash them dishes!")

You walk a guy out to the bus stop and walk back to the store, you then turn around and see he is gone already. So? BUT then some crazy lady comes up talking some nonsense about "It" and you freak out, run to grandma, she questions you about you and your friends partying out in the boonies. You then get an "elixer" to drink for 3 days, bathing in it on the third day as well. Mixes up some pasty crap and instructs you to slather it on the weirdest looking tree there.
Okay, I have to stop. I could go on for another week, but I won't. What you've done is bad enough. You really want us to believe that you guys beat a tree so bad that it turned into a bush? Riiiiiight...
