Rook - I was thinking about this last night and wanted to get it out so I'm putting adding it here, okay?
As my stepdaughters have gotten older, I've shared my experiences with them. They, in turn, have shared a few of them with their mom. Don't get me wrong, their mom and I are friends, but this is an area where we see things differently. My approach to this situation was different than her's was.
I can't describe how I felt when I realized that my stepdaughter knew she could call on me, and that she believed not only that I would, but that I could help Andy.
Anyway, yes, putting all the positive energy back into his room after driving "The Scary" out the window (and I was so happy there was a little hole in that screen 😆) made the room seem so much brighter. It could have been my imagination, who knows? But it felt better to me.
Teaching both of them how to use the Smudge Stick felt like the best thing to do. When I was leaving, I was still apprehensive about "The Scary" coming back, even as a temper tantrum. This way she had what she needed when she needed it and didn't have to wait on me to get off work or whatever.
Funny how things create bonding moments, huh? 😊 Thank you

Granny - you're right, because it wasn't until he released his fear that "The Scary" left. If you could have seen him, the doubt in his face, the chewing on his fingernail, the hesitation in his voice... All of this while we talked about "are you sure, are you really, really sure?" He had to be sure. I was so worried, granny. I'm not going to lie. I really thought for sure I'd be doing a salt protection spell and Rook's House Cleansing.
I wasn't going to submit this one because Andy's not my son, but then I realized that maybe someone else might need this story one day.
Thanks, granny, from a grandparent I greatly admire, that's a great compliment.

Isandhu - I realize everyone is different, as we see on here daily, so whether or not Andy will remember in 10 years I can't even begin to guess.
I can't remember things from when I was 4 years old. I can't remember but a handful of things from before 9 years old. Lots of people I talk to, though, can remember being 2. I find that fascinating. So maybe Andy will remember, but if it is that traumatizing, I don't know that I want him too. Although it may not be as scary at 14 as it is at 4. Hopefully there will be no more incidents to help cement it in his mind.
Thanks for reading my story and commenting 😊

stephyw - you know, I asked Andy a couple of times if he could tell me what "The Scary" looked like. He just looked up in the closet and shrugged his right shoulder. But each time he was looking at "something."
I remember being afraid in my room and being a lot older than Andy. It's a horrible feeling. I agree, hopefully it won't come back. But if it does, we'll do whatever it takes to make him feel safe again.

Cosmogal - thank you for that ❤I was trying to figure out what to do with Andy. With Dalton it would have been so much easier because he understands. I just had to figure out how to make Andy understand. He's big into Superheroes and that Smudge Stick gave him super powers in a way. He held it like a sword LOL. ❤ 😊

I think it is wonderful that you included your grandson in banishing the closet scary! He was obviously distressed at what he was seeing and feeling. I really admire you for helping him to get back his freedom to be able to play and sleep in his own room and that is worth every minute of smudging and pep talks!
😊 😊

I can't help thinking when reading your story Miracles how many parents and perhaps including myself would have said to our children, it's just your imagination, you had a bad dream or there's nothing's there go back to sleep etc etc... One thing we can establish from Andy, he saw something that traumatized him enough to keep him frighten over a concerning amount of time?...To see the Old Hag? At Andy's age would of be enough to traumatize him to the point it did and perhaps it took your bold confronting tactics for Andy to trust you enough to overcome his inner fear of it in a way that had made him feel more secure and safe... I do believe children are off limits from such evil entities as the old hag, but I'm sure I read another story here where a young teenager saw one in a tree outside there room... I do believe there bold enough to show themselves to children and perhaps from the closet?... Was as close as it could get to Andy and get away with it and that's if it was something like that for example... I think it's also possible with your presence Miracles and the power of prayer, it may of just been enough to send it packing as I'm sure the good guys on the other side wouldn't let a thing like that get near him once they were aware of it... Another point, when you close your eyes and ask God or for the greater good to help you, you can betcha they will here that call especially when there's a child's involved... And even if it was just his imagination, once again good job on getting Andy to confront it the way you did for the same result a big heads up Miracles!

geetha - LOL, what a great compliment, thank you❤
I had been thinking throughout the day of things I could do to help Andy and I thought if I could make him feel like it was "his" house and he was in control of the situation, maybe it would work better that way rather than doing it for him.
(I still sleep with night lights though 😉)

Really great story. When you said Andy told his mother about 'The Scary' I was reminded of that thing from the movie Insidious for some reason.
Heh I am still shocked at how some people can be so calm in those situations.
Thanks for sharing this great account.
You mentioned you take classes, What kind of classes if you don't mind me asking?
Is it to help understand/deal with paranormal experiences? I ask because I would be interested in seeing if there is anything like that where I live.

Fergie - thank you for the compliments, but I wasn't so confident when I was there. I was wondering if I knew what the heck I was doing. He was only 4 and there is a big difference in a 4-year-old who is scared to death of his room and a 10-year-old who wants to hold EVP sessions in our house LOL.
There are several sites that you can check out if you're interested in more info on Smudge Sticks. I used the same one in Jerrica's room in my story when she got scared one night. I owe a lot of my knowledge to this site and to the class I'm taking. That's where I got my Smudge Stick and was shown how to use it, but I've seen them used on ghost stories shows too. 😊 ❤

kristy-lee - thank you for reading my story. I agree, just because I couldn't see it doesn't mean nothing saw there. Having been told most of my life that it was just my imagination, I wasn't about to do that to him. Even though my stepdaughter doesn't like to talk about "this" kind of stuff, it made me feel very good to know that she believes in me and knew that I'd do everything I could to help. And you're right. No child should be scared of their own house or any part of it. Again, thank you for reading and commenting.

Scary or no scary, your grandson is no longer scared and that's what matters:)
But if it turns out to be real, it would of been intresting to hear the description of what it looks like. But asking such a question to a child might just scare him again.
I remember when I was a child something similar hapenned to me. Every single night jet black, long, pointy and scary hands would lay their grip around my door way frame. I would ask my mom over and over to check my room. She continuisly checked for something that could cast a shadow like that, yet she found nothing and never saw the hands. I remember the fear it brought me and wished for them to go away. But they never did, until I moved away. I'm happy you found a way to put and end to your grandson's fear.
I wish you and your familly all the best! ❤

Ahhh you truly are an amazing lady Miracles, empowering your Grandson to take on The Scary I feel is absolutely brilliant and will do wonders for his self esteem and confidence.
Did you feel as though something was residing there in the closet/house though? Feelings etc?
I couldn't think of a better time to combat The Scary for you either, straight after those classes you were already empowered and protected. Am I right? I know I am when I leave mine.😁
I love it Miracles, thank you for another great account my friend!😁❤

Miracles, a great narration indeed. You have done a wonderful job of giving confidence to your grandchild and given him confidence to overcome his fear. Whatever it was there in the room earlier, it is not there now, atleast. And you took your time to impart the knowledge to your stepdaughter also, just in case, to repeat whatever you have done, in your absence.

SDS

Miracles,
What a wonderful experience. You took something 'scary' and turned it into a Loving/Caring Family Bonding moment in time. Aside from bringing your Grandsons confidence level up you helped raise the Positive Energy Level in his room and over the entire Household. You also had the Patience to pass on some of your knowledge to your Stepdaughter and Grandson, thus empowering them.
Thank you for sharing.
Respectfully,
Rook

Miracles: Personally, I think it was a combination of him seeing something, and his fear holding whatever it was there... What you did was empower him and brought his confidence level up enough to get the Scary the heck out 😊...Very good move, because now if he sees anything else, he'll have the confidence to tell it to go away and not bother him...
You strengthened the bond between grandparent/grandchild and gave him just one more reason to trust you and himself ❤...I'm pretty sure he'll remember this ten years from now, and like Isandhu commented, it will be interesting to hear what he has to say about it...
Thank you for posting this lesson for all grandparents/parents of kids with gifts... ❤

It would be interesting to know what he remembers about this when he is older, although I don't think it would be a good idea to try to make him remember it by reminding him about it. But in 10 years you could ask him about it and see what he says.

Awww Miracles you are such a sweet grandmother. This was a great experience to post. I'm so glad "Andy" participated in the smudging and making the scary leave. He knows now that he has the power to make it leave if it dares come back. I really loved this. 😁 ❤

I agree with clever210, it's good to empower kids to make them feel like they could conquer their fears of the unknown.
I was wish you could me my grandmother. That way I have a protector with me constantly. 😊

Gosh Miracles, you were/are awesome! To know exactly what to do to make a little boy feel safe, that is great! 😁
I have never heard of a 'smudge stick'. It just shows, either I am very inexperienced with driving out bad entities, or I am moving in the wrong circles! 😕
Thank you Miracles for sharing your heart-warming knowledge with us.

the main thing is that it worked, just because us adults can't see things it doesn't mean that its not there. Kids are so much more "open" there for more likely to see, hear or even feel things that we cant. Its good that your step daughter could turn to you when she needed you, it sounds like you have a wonderful relationship. Glad the little fella is doing good and is using his room again. No child should be scared of their own house or any part of it ❤ ❤ ❤

Thanks, clever. That's how I feel too. I can't say for certain there was anything there, but I also can't say there wasn't. And I certainly wasn't going to downplay his fears. He "knew" there was and that's all that mattered. It was a situation that needed to be taken care of. I'm just glad I was able to help.
