Surya - I did some of that stuff when I was much younger. I started by taking massive amounts of B12 and B6 both of which are said to make your dream more vivid. By the time I decided to stop, I was taking whole bottles. I wanted to know what dreams were and if they had any relevance to life. I will tell you that when I did this there were 2 events that happened. They were odd, and they were very real to me. To this day I assume I was dreaming and asleep or dreaming and awake.
As for drugs, yeah I did some of those too. I started when I was 18 and quit before I hit 20. I wish I could redo those years but you know what. If I had not done these things, I never would have learned what I learned. I would not be the person I am today had I not. I chalk it up to a large mistake I will never make again. Doing drugs started as my continuance to try and separate mind and body, to try and see if I really had a soul. This is what I know now, nothing good will come from deliberately trying to influence your brain with this type of stimuli. If you are successful in seeing something that makes you question reality you will never be able to say it was not the drugs interaction with you that caused it. I would ask anyone to please stay away from these things. There is no good to them at all.

Sooo, if I get you right, you are saying (and I will keep this one short, because THIS truly IS food for thought) that no matter the "position" (off, on, neutral...) of the brain, there MAY be circuits that create a false reality.
In essence, the human brain serves those with these abilities in the same manner as it does those with, say... Dementia. It "skips a gear"?
The AMAZING thing about all of that is, as I stated in that comment a few down from here, that is what I have been contemplating for quite some time. If you were to go through my comment history, I can almost assure you (unless they have been deleted) that you would find comments rather close to that. The major difference is that I did not choose to use the word hallucinate. But then, hey, we all have the normal words in our vocabulary that we DO use.
Interesting...
Thank you.

Right well I never said the article would explain the whole thing. Its only a start. I pointed out the interesting part which was, "The reason we do not hear voices or hallucinate when at rest." If you take this further why not believe this can happen when fully awake? What about autistic people, they function in a different way they the majority of people in the world but they do function. In some aspects they function better. Lets not even get into the discussion of the fact that we humans only use 10% of our brains. Lets not get into the discussion of how its possible I can remember something that happened 10 years ago. We know what it takes to get a computer to do this on some extent but take it further. Make the computer remember sight, taste and smell for 10 years straight. Imagine how much memory that would take. Then try to shrink it to the size of a human brain.
I believe in the possibility that these are real events that happen to you. The question is however, how relevant are these events really? Are they nothing more then hallucinations or are they something more substantial.
Can I say something odd here? Just recently with in the past year or so I have been having a strange experience. While at rest I "hear" conversations. You know how you normally think of things... You think of words, think of what you have said or what you may say to someone at some point through out the day or the next day? You put the words you think of together with your mind. You form the sentences and direct where the sentences go and end up. In these conversations though, I do not put the words together. I listen with my mind to them. I do not "hear" but my mind hears them. If I try to think of something else I still hear them and they go in directions I myself would not think. They are well formed as if someone is speaking. I am currently not too concerned of this yet. The normal thoughts of potential schizophrenia have of course crossed my mind however I am not having conversations with the "voices" I hear. It's as if I am listening in on a conversation. I think this is a much lesser version of which you speak Autum.

OK, I got the chance to check out that article, and I tell you, it is almost what I have been saying for some time (parts of it. I was not all that interested in sleep studies, so THAT part was a bit new to me).
Our brain, just like ANY form of equipment that needs "current" gives off brain waves, even if it is not engaged.
Much like my telly. If I am not watching it, though it be plugged in, it STILL is spinning the gauges on the meter, and is STILL giving off EMF's.
But, that is where the similarities to that of the article end. The study is in sleep hallucinations. Or resting hallucinations. Whichever you want to call it. The very first sentence states:"Your brain's visual centers remain active when your eyes are closed and even when you sleep, studies have shown. But it's a different type of activity, one not fully understood."
Right. A DIFFERENT form of activity.
This entire study is how resting affects our visualizations... Uh, no offence, but there is NO WAY I could have been sleeping during this instance. I was not in a POSITION to be resting, let alone sleeping.
The whole object of my going to the cemetery alone was to "get one up" on my Father. I stated that in the story. I was going to prove something to him. In order to do THAT, my little eight year old mind had to be working overtime.
No rest.
Over heating, maybe.
I do not know.
Very interesting article, though. I really do not think the research is finished with that one.
Thank you.

Everyone else...
Thank you. You all know me. It is nice to see that you really DO, and not just superficially! 😉
I can guarantee that I will be back to complete this discussion...

Sooo,
What you are saying, WolfReal...
Are you saying that I COULD be RIGHT and that there MAY be a direct correlation between brain activity, and sightings? Are you saying that (in my comment to Rhodes) this theory that I have been examining on my own (no funding through ANY outside sources)... "In other words, what happens if centuries from now, our earth is discovered (I know, this is going to sound freakishly sci fi, BUT...) and a few people are found intact enough to do research on, and it is discovered that SOME of us have this 'pink' when others do not. Those that DO were 'seers', and those that do not WERE not."
SOOOO... What you are saying is, that I MAY be having rational thoughts here (in the act of TRYING to see what it is that sets certain people aside of others, and RESEARCHING it) in the midst of a personal hallucination that has been happening for such a long time.
Thank you. You lent credence to what it is that I have been doubting for a bit of time here. I personally do not THINK I am hallucinating, but in that I work in the medical field, I KNOW that it is a high possibility to have visions (Oops, sorry, to have hallucinations) and not realize that you are, indeed, HAVING said... Uh, glitches.
So, these theories, thoughts and ideas that I have been tossing all over this site (and a few others) can actually BE rooted in truth? Even thought it IS a possibility that I have hallucinated all of these things.
Interesting. I will have to check out that link you provided. Thank you. I appreciate all of your research too.
I, too, used to hang out with a few people who did some not so stellar things. But not when I was eight. I did not HAVE people at that age to tell me anything OTHER than I was seeing things. I have FAMILY members label me as the ghost hunter, and it was with SHAME that I carried the name. I, too, stared into the abyss. Perhaps NOT the self same one as you, but I, too, was a pebble drop away from sliding (or jumping) with the lemmings.
I do not fear what lies ahead. It MUST come to fulfill what is MEANT to be. I regret nothing of my past, save for my timing. And I pray DAILY that I am EXACTLY where I need to be in my personal relationship with MY Higher Power.
This is no place for an autobiography, however. And very few people know of ALL that I have lived through. I have not had an easy life, and neither was ANYTHING ever simply handed to me... So, Yes. I WOULD like to KNOW what are the differences in sight. But I think that will be a long process.

Apparently alchol is worse believe it or not. I thought that was pretty evident from your experience after the drinking binge. Drugs are not all bad. Some can actually take you on a spiritual trip, one that can change your life and open your eyes. Maybe some research on your part would be good.

When I was younger I hung out with some interesting people. Some of them did drugs on occasion. Some of those drugs caused you to hallucinate. The drug itself did not cause this, it was its interaction with the brain that did this. The drugs would turn on, turn off, stimulate or repress the brains normal activity. Once a person I was sitting there with started screaming for me to get a dog off him that apparently had wandered into the room. There was no dog... The flip side to this are people in hospitals that when their brain is in a normal state believe they have spiders or something else on them. When given certain drugs, they calm down and there are no more spiders or what have you. The brain is very powerful, it is us. If anything changes even slightly with how it operates the effects can be large. Now do not take this to mean that if you are seeing something that others are not this is bad. Through out evolution nature tries different things with us.
The brain can do this on its own as well though obviously it is very rare. The story I indicated to does not explain it, only hints at it. Though it gives enough insight to where if you are serious about wanting to know why you see what you see, I would seriously think about studying about a scientific cause rather then paranormal.

Rhodes68 - ok wait a second. I never stated in my response what I thought you were saying. I was only giving you my own perspective. So where you thought I was trying to describe what I thought you meant was inaccurate.
Next I never indicated in my own experience \ story that I thought any of it happened do to "spirts". I relayed the story and waited to see potentials I had not thought of before. Had anyone here said oh yes, a ghost just peed on you, I would have asked how and why they believed that. I have been looking for answers my whole life, I have found none that seem to fit in the normal range of things so I thought I would come here and see if there was anything that may lie between the normal and abnormal. I DO NOT believe spirts were messing with me in the grave yard.
Again regarding whitebuffalo I said many things and you chose to key in on the one possibility I gave where part or the whole story may be made up. I said many more things that that. Did you read the article I pointed out? It indicates the brain is capable of dreaming while it is in an "awake" state.
Im sorry but I simply know nothing that was once dead and is now alive has the ability to affect a physical item in the world. If you told me there were aliens \ time travelers wearing invisible cloaks messing with people, that is far more a possibility then things crossing over from the realm of the dead.
Ill also remind you that whitebuffalo asked for my thoughts on the stories, perhaps to get a different perspective. If WB dismisses my comments as ignorance then that is what happens. Considering all possibilities when trying to find answers will eventually lead you to the truth.

Osa - first off how is it out of my writting the only thing you keyed in on was one of the possiblities I gave where I said Autum may be making the stories up? I said many other things as well. There are many people here making storys up. Putting a notice saying "real ghost stories" only does not mean people will only post real ghost storys. I think in terms of what whitebuffalo is seeing is very real to Autum. The physical interaction though is either being misdiagnosed or imagined completely.

WolfReal, you DID lose me completely! I do NOT think we, in our physical form, are BUT an object nor did I say that this is our only time around. I also DID NOT say or believe that deeper knowledge is achieved after death. Quite the opposite. I'm saying the spirit that lives in this physical body strives to reach higher and higher and many (or some) of us manage to aquire a more insighful life than the rest.
Actually, we are BOTH saying just about the same thing with minor differences. I apologise for confusing you in my previous comment.
"Bible teachings"?! You've got to be kidding me! I do study the bible as I study all other religions but I'm in no sense a conventional believer or Christian. Had I lived in a different era, I would have been considered a heratic with all the rest of the consequences.
But your post confused ME now. You say that in no way would you ever believe that whatever lies "on the other side can affect the physical world"? Have you forgotten YOUR story?! In that story that describes your own experience this IS what you claim and defend that the spirits of that cemetery toyed with you in a very physical sense.
People who have had a glimpse of the other side know better than judge others for their experiences. Once you SEE what you never thought you would, you come to question the things you believed. You start listening to people more closely. You become more open to what you once rejected!
I personally have come to question not only my whole belief system up until then but I have also become more open-minded about what IS and is NOT possible.
I have known Whitebuffalo for quite some time and not only through her stories or what she CLAIMS to be true. I have looked into her world and I'm telling you, you are MISJUDGING her! Unless you've been there, please do NOT be so quick to judge. There are some people here who DO speak the truth and I believe her to be one of them.
I would suggest you read more stories not only from her but from all these posters on the site. Try looking into some older stories too. I'd challenge you to read deeper into the stories since being the rational being you are would not allow you to see what lies beneath. I have been doing what you do for too many years until I realised that I have been missing out on the greater picture.

WolfReal,... What if all we have, is all of eternity? I believe WB's stories are extremely truthful and written with sincerity. Maybe the fact that some are able to recall or recognize does make them different. Does that mean they are not speaking the truth?

THey are talking about brain activity and how it is different when people are asleep I find this one sentence the begining of where it gets interesting.
"This different type of brain activity could also explain why most people don't constantly experience hallucinations or hear voices while they rest, the researchers suggest."
If you are of the few people where your activity does NOT change, then you could be walking around "awake" but still dreaming.

rhodes68 - insightful and refreshing. Though you did lose me a bit, I think I understood the just of what you were saying.
I believe we have souls but not souls related to teachings in the bible ect... Our souls are... Energy for lack of a better term though I do not feel that energy aptly describes what we are. Our physical bodies here are simply what bind us and allow us to interact with this environment. Perhaps the human fetus brain is like a spider web catching the energy of our souls and binding it to a physical form. I can not guess the reason behind this if true.
I have stared into the abyss I hinted at. The idea that this life is all we have. If so most of our minds built in safety switch to keep us from contemplating this idea too deeply. I stood on that ledge looking into that abyss but stepped back because I can not truly imagine...ending. I can not imagine that my mind is only something that moves my body around to do different things for unknown reasons. I am conscious; I am not just a "thing". I will not find out what I am wrong about or may be right about when I am no longer here to contemplate it from these eyes and mind.
I have had experiences in my life that make me lean toward the idea that this life is not all we have. I think I am correct in this. Would it sound odd to say that this life holds little interest for me anymore and that while I do not seek it I have no issue with my own death?

Whitebuffalow - from your answer I have come to conclude two possibilities then. One, which has to be stated (obviously...) you are making these stories up and for a reason I can not comprehend, there could be so many. Two, you saw what you saw while another who might have been standing next to you would not have. I would have to ask (again obviously) are you hallucinating and seeing something that only exists in your mind alone? I do no expect you to answer this. However I would expect that if you did answer you would say that others see these things as well. I will not go into my theory of mass hypnosis on account that I feel it to be irrelevant at this point. I could continue to ask, are you seeing something that is there because you have the ability to see something most others do not? If so how can you \ would you ever know if these things are only in your mind?
So now I am at a dilemma and I will tell you why. I could believe that what you are seeing are imprints, recordings of thoughts \ events in the environment. I believe this to be possible though I have no clue what an explanation for this type of phenomena might be. However you have said some of these things have taken a physical interaction with their surroundings. These interactions seem to happen around you more then others. It would be possible I suppose for you to see these things as paranormal even though these physical things have real life explanations associated with them. You may simply be attaching paranormal significance to them because it seems to make the most sense to you. (Your husband being thrown up stairs, the child becoming sick not once but twice.)
I absolutely do not believe a "sprit" has the ability to affect anything physically in anyway. I'm willing to believe that these events are all in your head or that your visions may be walking dreams. If you try to force upon me the idea that these visions or things of paranormal nature are affecting the physical realm in anyway though, I will question your sanity. When you are dead you are dead. If we humans continue to exist in anyway after we die it is not on this plain of existence and certainly does not allow us to interact with this environment in anyway.
There are my thoughts that you have asked for. Do with them what you will.

If we humans continue to exist in anyway after we die it is not on this plain of existence and certainly does not allow us to interact with this environment in anyway.
There are my thoughts that you have asked for. Do with them what you will.

Oh, I know it is a rhetorical question as I feel you know the answer but I will gladly tell you what the answer is for me.
Why some can while others can't if we agree that we all have this innate ability?
Maybe it is that some or most of us have gotten a little too involved in this very busy world and in doing that, we distanced ourselves from the being we were -the hunter, the provider, the nurturer, the being that was in complete harmony with nature... Once upon a time!
We used to rely on our senses to survive-an ability that has become almost obselete.
If we could just close our eyes until we learn or remember how it was to see the world with our senses then maybe the world in exchange will become a different place and maybe then we will become ONE with this world.
And in being one with this world, we come to have no feelings, fears, expectations-we achieve the Ultimate Freedom and by achieving that we might then connect with the Divine Energy 😊
To find one's intuitive self is to know your inner self. To exist in that place of "no self" though is to let go of your own "voice" until you reach the one place where "the Angels speak".
I'm still working on that... 😆

😆 Too true, too true...
You want to know what my goal in life is? My BIG project is to discover, unquestionably, whether there is a certain "blob" in the brain (much like what is present in the bipolar brain...) that is the CAUSE of "third sight".
In other words, what happens if centuries from now, our earth is discovered (I know, this is going to sound freakishly scifi, BUT...) and a few people are found intact enough to do research on, and it is discovered that SOME of us have this "pink" when others do not. Those that DO were "seers", and those that do not WERE not.
I mean, four people in a tunnel. Two hear footsteps, two do not. One sees a moving shadow, three do not. One sees a full bodied apparation...
WHAT is the magnet? Why are SOME talented, and some are not?

The CHICKEN!
As I said, the body is but a tool and as far as I'm concerned a very ineffective one most of the times. The word "second" was NOT indicative of the hierarchy or the status of the soul, at least as I perceive it. I should have been more clear of that-you're right!
Yes, it would bore a few that is why we can simply click on to the next story on line 😊.
As or me... Well I'm the "asking too many questions" type and never get any definite answers but isn't that the real fun behind it? The reason and aim of our course?

Ah, but IS the Spiritual being the "Second" being, the "other half"? Or is the PHYSICAL the alter ego?
I believe that the Soul is THE being, and the body is a mere tool of acceptance for THIS world. In another world, we MIGHT just be (Woah! I did NOT say anything about aliens. I have NO education backed theory on THAT) swirling mists of shades of blue. Who knows?
The thing that is most important, I think is the BALANCE in which we strive to co-exist with EVERYTHING. As I said in a separate comment section, Two GROUPS may be separated (i.e. By gender), but without that they work TOGETHER (gathering wood for a fire, Cooking over the fire) there is no "smoothness" to... Life.
It is the symbolic "What came first, the chicken or the egg..." I guess that would all depend on your perception of what YOU feel the Creation was.
There IS much more, but I do not want to bore...

Sorry to interrupt the comment section regarding your story Autumn but I just realised that WolfReal and you have had a very interesting conversation about "the natural state of existence". Very controversial subject one might say.
Question here still remains though, "what is the one and true quality of Being", the soul, the body? Are we a totality or mere products of our own memories? Do we originate from an external life force or are we for ever "entrapped" in our limited perception of our paths towards the end-if one comes to perceive that as the "dicomposition of Atoms"... Rene Decartes, a significant philosopher, might have replied to this by simply stating "Gogito ergo sum" and directed our attention to the wax experiment but... That may not seem significant today as we seem to have overcome the past and our human state of humility. We are too clever to "fall for such concepts today".
"The more one stays in that state..." WolfReal "...the more it is to label it at that stage." True, if one claims to be a singleness and not a unity or a "duality". So am I to assume that since we all spend more time as adults, we tend to forget our childhood memories? Then who could explain that many people at their last stages in life seem to recall ONLY the long term memory-the earliest experience they had in the world of the living?
Weak example one might claim and not very effective. I agree, the time span here is of a much lesser duration.
I'm one of those who believe that there's a duality in all beings, a conscious and subconscious one at times. We are souls and bodies. I think we agree on that.
The aquisition of the "soul-life knowledge" in all stages of being can be then achieved through "spiritual investigation"-that is, the soul processes which are attained in inner experiences. I believe the soul searches for knowledge of the Higher Worlds" by inserting its inner life into the domain of spiritual reality and that the soul force leads to memory... The recollection of what it perceived and experienced throughout its existence-not the physical but the spiritual, the one that is not subject to time...
And yet, mere thoughts could not possibly lead to a spiritual life but they instead share their life with the "body"-their inseparable countepart.
A being in my understanding and philosophy perceives that it "carries" a spiritual other half no matter how well hidden it remains at times. It is THAT SECOND being-the spiritual being- that stands as a "conscious observer" of one's ordinary life (walking the dogs through the park, eating dinner, being a couch potato).
Although in a sense they seem to exist "on paths running the opposite directions", they, in fact, come to form a unity in the "weaving" of a more complete understanding of life in its more profound meaning.
It's through the INTERPLAY of these two beings that one comes to perceive the other and realize that the soul uses the body as a tool to build up the memories of its experience of the physical world.
I know... Bla bla bla, you're sick of me!
What I'm trying to say is that one is not what his/her memory allows them to be. We are not "bound to this forum because we refuse to accept another possibility than THIS life"-at least NOT ME. I'm here because I refuse to "forget" what it is to have this countepart in me yelling out "pay closer attention, try to remember what is innate in you".
Apologies for my loooooong post and greetings to both of you.

Yes, this is my own story. Yes, this happened in my life around the age of eight.
No, this was not a dream. I was not gone long enough to be "missed" as I was out exploring. I was not in a position TO fall asleep. I was standing, walking or running. I was not good enough to fall asleep standing up until I joined the service.
The only proof that I have are the skid marks mentioned, the small mounds of leaves, and that the lost graves of the family members were found.

Umm by that I mean, this is your own story correct? If so I have many thoughts. My first question, was this a dream? Because I have to be honest it sounds like something a dream would say.
Do you know without any doubt in your mind that you were awake when this happened?

Hmmm... Well the definition of life and death can be interperted differently I suppose. When I say death then, I guess I would have to mean in this physical form.
What about your story then here? Can you answer my other questions?

Because it is a written story, from 2007, WolfReal. In ALL of my stories, if you read them in chronological order, I am sure that you will be able to notice a progression in the writing style.
I have become a LOT more comfortable on this site, and do not care any longer if people enjoy the way in which I speak, or think me to be... Um... Cheeky. I no longer give a rip if I am understood in the manner in which I intended. I figure if someone has a question, they can ask.
I personally disagree with your thoughts on the point of us being dead longer than we will be alive.
It is my thought that we are all an energy. This energy has been bouncing around for ions. Then smack, bang, the energy decides it wants to BE something, and... Seeks the right path to be what it wants to be.
That is a vague overview, but I personally think that our Spirit, our essence, our energy, if you will, will BE much longer than this body will be dead.
Thank you.

This may not be the place for this but I would like to comment none the less.
Consider that we will be dead far longer then we will ever be alive. If true, what is the more natural state for us? The longer something stays in any state the more correctly it is to label it as that state.
No one alive today knows what death truly is. Perhaps it is this "life" that is false. Perhaps we ourselves are nothing more then a group of souls \ spirts bound together in the perpetuation of a fantasy, kind of like a mass hypnosis. We are bound in this forum because we refused to see any other possibility then this "life".

Ok first off let me say that I like this story though I am not sure why. I think its because it sounds REAL. However at this time I would like to point out that the way this story is written sounds completely different then when you "talk". Why is that?
I need to know why this is before I can elaborate further.

In the Name of The Great Spirit,
And by the power of His Blood and His Mercy,
We bind all spirits in the air, and the fire and the water,
In the ground and the underground and the nether world,
And we bind any satanic forces of nature.
We bind all curses, hexes, or spells, or any occult activity previously used.
We bind the interaction and interplay of spirits.
And we claim the protection
Of the Great Spirit
Over this house and grounds, and over every person here.
We call upon the ancestors of the land
And the company of angels to surround this place,
Making it both safe and sacred.
And we call out to you, O Great Spirit.
Come now and fill this place, never to leave!
We pray in the name of the Great Spirit, Amen.
And by the power of His Blood and His Mercy,

Thank you for this story whitebuffalo! It really sounds like an awesome experience. I know my parents also have a hard time believing my experiences. I wonder why you were able to see into the past and talk to this man. Maybe he wanted to contact you, maybe he is still there had always been there, but has given you his message and no longer wants to be bothered.

Whitebuffalo, while doing a little reading about the blockade runner Denbigh, I stumbled across this about the fate of one of its crewmembers. It reminded me of your experience and those forgotten folks enclosed by chicken wire in the cemetery:
"The cemetery interment records for the City of Galveston at Rosenberg Library include an entry for one William Fairweather, a 34-year-old native of Texas, who drowned on September 7, 1864. He was buried the following day at Potter's Field, the traditional burying ground for indigents and travelers without a local church affiliation..."

AND... I have to say that I have learned SO MUCH from being here. When I first came to this site, I was FULL of questions, and very little answers. I had researched, and studies, asked questions and the like, but nothing beats a hands on learning experience for me.
I have to actually be DOING the something that is suggested, and SEE the results before I can actually believe that the suggestion works. I have a hard time passing on things that I do not KNOW show results.
If you start at the beginning of my comments, and end up with this months, (well at least I feel), there is a growth there that would not have been present had I stayed in the libraries and on certain other sites. The limitations were already set. Here, it is an ONGOING learning experience.
Very refreshing.

I couldn't agree more with you, whitebuffalo! Although I am relatively new here, I enjoy this forum because many eyes and minds bring forth new perspectives and possibilities. I always enjoy your comments, stories, and eye-opening perspectives so I am thrilled to be able to share a little of my vantage with you.
In the end, you may never conclusively know what you experienced at the cemetery that day. And I suppose it doesn't really matter as long as you walk away (or peddle on the wings of your bike) with a positive lesson(s)... And it sounds like you already have.

DANG, Kecoughtan,
I missed THAT too! His message was not only a verbal one, but a visual one too! You SEE why we need to be able to DISCUSS these things openly?!
To the best of my recollection, I can not recall if there were any type of offerings or gifts. I could be wrong and I simply do not remember. But I DO remember that they were all of uniform size. And color. All were white, but then whitewashing used to be "the thing".
All of the occupations that you have in your comment were all of the ones of the region (personally, parts of my family were ore miners and freight workers) and therefore "brought home" a very good point. My family member who was a pirate, for instance, only did that so that he could bring his immediate family to his new home. Freighter on the up and up and pirate when the opportunity arose.
"I think this is very significant that you experienced this since you went to the cemetery for the purpose of finding the forgotten..." Was very eye opening for me.
Thank you.

Whitebuffalo--WOW, I don't know how I missed this story when you originally posted it. It is fascinating! I know this seems specific, but do you remember if any of the crosses were decorated with "offerings" left by family or friends? Graves in traditional African-American burial grounds are often decorated with a variety of items: beads, ribbon, coins, smooth and colorful rocks, ceramic vessels, and glass bottles. If the graves were unadorned, nameless, and uniform in construction and size, then I suspect that section fenced in chicken wire was used for "pauper" burials of African Americans. Undecorated graves would imply that they had few or no familiy and friends in the area--either because they were traveling alone or working far from home when they died. I suspect that those poor, forgotten souls enclosed in chicken wire are probably African Americans who died very much alone--many of whom probably went north after Emancipation to work the ore mines, freight carriers, timber stands, and mills of the north. They may have died before they could afford to send for their families. I think this is very signigicant that you experienced this since you went to the cemetery for the purpose of finding the forgotten. 😁

Hello Sandy,
Interesting...
I really never even gave a "vision" a thought as I have been trying to figure this out all of these years. I do not KNOW if time travel is possible, so the comments about a spontaneous time travel (a kind of wrinkle in the time line continuum) kind of puzzled me.
Out of Body experience does not really fit, either, as I was fully awake. Honestly, I think I was too SCARED being in the cemetery alone at that age to have been ABLE to fall asleep. I was not gone for long, so that really cancels out that theory.
A residual haunting is out also, as I had a complete conversation with the man at the "new grave". And an intelligent haunting would have taken place in the cemetery as it stood on that date. I regret not going back and trying to find that exact plot and seeing who it was. But then, he was talking to someone there, and I have no idea where it was that HE was buried.
I still have the photo of Tom Brown's marker, though. I think I have a special interest in that one as it is the only DOCUMENTED colored person in that cemetery (at least it was the last time I researched it, at least to the best of my knowledge), and I feel an anger towards the IGNORANCE of mankind in their narrow minded beliefs of the validity of other people's lives, simply because of the color of their skin. There is no "perfect race", we were ALL born equal in the eyes of the Creator.
Would it not be wonderful if that was the TRUE reason for this man showing himself and his surroundings to me? If "all" he really wanted to convey is that all men (and women) are to be treated with the same respect?
Your step-Mother's and step-Grandmothers stories sound so interesting. Tell me, what were the messages from The Folk? I look forward to many more stories fro them both through you, and your OWN experiences too.
Thank you.

Your step-Mother's and step-Grandmothers stories sound so interesting. Tell me, what were the messages from The Folk? I look forward to many more stories fro them both through you, and your OWN experiences too.
Thank you.

Whitebuffalo, your story was quite interesting. Yes it is amazing that the racial thing is still occuring today. It is sad that all the graves have on it is colored and a half of a date. My step grandmother was in Palistine Texas when the Great Debators was being filmed and there was a old cemetary there. The slaves that built the railroad was buried here. She is a medium and got messages from the "folk" as they called themselfs that they were here at the filming of the movie. The next day a storm came through and destroyed the set. $75,000 worth of damage. I know this is off the subject of your story, but the point was that the old cemetary had a lot of imprints there, and I think that is what you experienced.
I also want to thank you for the comments on my stories. I have been wanting to write more, but when I get a chance the web-site is full approving other stories. So I will continue to get more in as soon as possible. My adopted mom is very interesting. She has seen a lot and I will get those stories out. So I enjoy reading so keep them coming! Thanks again Whitebufflo, keep in touch o.k. Peace, Love, and Laughter, Sandy

There is often a big scare about Wiccans. For many people all I would have to do is say that I am Pagan or Wiccan and the shunning begins. That is why there is so much secrecy about the whole religion. People just assume the worst and do not try to see what it is about first before passing judgement. Add to that the whole majical thing and wow, talk about stopping a conversation quickly!
Actually all Wicca is is a very naturalistic religion where respect of all living things are very important. If you pull a seed off of a flower, you ask permission and give a gift. How simple is that? If something you are about to do will hurt someone, you do not do it. "An it harm none, do what ye will" is very real to Wiccans and that is how you will find true followers.
Not all Wiccans practice majic, cast spells or join in ritualistic ceramonies. There are more and more Solitary or Eclectic Wiccans coming out who do not have a coven or who choose not to worship within a coven for whatever reason. For some, the only majic they will ever perform is in the casting of a majical circle. And sometimes the only reason they use that is to Pray to the God and Goddess in respectful allegence.
And the one that makes me laugh, NOT all Wiccans work skyclad. In fact most wear just the same things you do. That is mostly for initiatory Wiccans, and it is not something that every one does.
The fear of The Book of Shadows is perhaps the one that gets to me the most. Heck, don't a lot of people write out their own journal? Just because this one is held a bit more secret does not make it an evil thing, just something a bit more personal.
There are a lot of people who avoid "the Craft" and think that nothing good can come of it, but it is all based on nature and acting towards others like you want to be acted towards. It is really nothing like the shows that are starting to pop up all over the television channels.

Thanks FRAWIN. When I first got the ArchAngel Oracle Cards, it freaked my husband out. He's more old school, as people call it! I'm "33" and he's turning "44". I know it's not a BIG difference but it is when he was raised by men that were old and wise or so they thought! 😉 I just have another way of thinking about things than he does that's all. We're best friends so he trusts me. I guess he thinks that I'm going to accidentally open up a doorway to another realm and we will have a chaotic situation or something. I really don't bother with the ArchAngel cards anyway. I've only done them a few times and that was a long time ago. I don't really want to take risks that I can't afford to handle. You know what I mean?! I don't mess around with any type of Wiccan stuff because of this reason. Even if it's good things you are doing, bad things can still squeeze their ugly heads in. 😐I always wanted to try Wiccan things but I guess I would freak my husband out with it and He means the world to me and I don't want him upset with me or scared for that matter. Not scared of me but of the 'craft'. Thanks for giving me your opinion on the matter. =)~Shelby ❤

Hello Shelby. Now that WB has replied to your question, I`ll give mine. First off I never meant to scare anyone with my question on the safety of communication. I merely meant to suggest that maybe the ouija wasn`t necessarily the only "bad guy" out there, that there was others, which used by the UNTRAINED could be just as bad.
Second:As far as your archangel cards being a danger to you in the future, I wouldn`t think so. You have only good intentions and you know how to use them properly- you are trained, you trained your daughter the same way - I see no reason for alarm.
Take care my friend.
FRAWIN ❤ 😊

Hi Buffy. I'm sorry everything seems like such a mess right now. Things will get better.=) Just keep chugging along. I know how you feel. My house is a mess and when I clean it up it just gets really messy again. Tripping over toys, dishes all in the sink, etc. It never ends! Kids and there issues. There is always something going on. Right?! Well, just take a deep breath, let it out slow and relax a little and take it one step at a time. It seems that things have changed with you a little since essiej had made that post, protecting you against what she thought was a pack of wolves. I hope that anything that might have been said hasn't caused any problems with you and/or your daughter or me for that matter. I hope essiej is ok with what is or has been said on this site, as well as you, because everyone is going to have an opinion and she just has to take it as just that, an opinion, not anything harmful or hateful. I hope that things get better for you soon and I know exactly how you feel with having more questions than answers. I go through that sometimes, actually a lot of times on this site. That's why on some of the stories, I don't even post a comment because I don't know what to say. I think you are a bit overwhelmed with EVERYTHING and you need a break! I hope to talk to you soon! ~Shelby ❤

I'm sorry, Shelby, my house is such a wreck right now. I am trying to be logical about it all, but everything just feels so illogical. I feel like I have no more answers at this point and all I have is this long list of questions that never ends.
See, what you described is so true. If you go into something with bad intent, the experience could have bad results. If you go in with good intent, I would hope that good results would be the end product. It is all in the word Faith. I think. There seems to be such a fine line. I think if you go into it as an experiment, you will not know what end result will occur as the intent is neither good nor bad. Maybe that does not make sense, but my head is a bit messed up right now.

Hello Buffy! To reply to your last comment on allison corwin's story, YES, the ArchAngel Oracle Cards DO have a 45 count, I guess like Tarot cards. I have never cared to mess around with them so I did not know that! My intent is, of course, extremely good. My dughtger has played them a while ago and her intent is very good also. I'd like to tell you that every single time I play the cards, I get ArchAngel Michael. Isn't that awesome! To have him with me, protecting me, what a treat that is! The ArchAngel Michael Oracle Card says this, YOU ARE SAFE "I am protecting you against lower energies, and quarding you, your loved ones, and home..." I know it is just a card to most, but I truly believe in him and believe him! This is just one of the three cards off the top of the deck. He is always one of the three. That is SO comforting to know. 😊 Do you really think that ArchAngel Oracle Cards can EVER possibly be dangerous if used wrong or put in the wrong hands? Hmmmm... I would have NEVER guessed that, being as how they ARE ArchAngel cards. Anyway, it is 1:06 AM and I am awake! GRRRRRR... I may do the ArchAngel cards now with candles and all since it is so quiet. Eveyone is asleep! Well, except me! =(
When you spoke of the 'Crystal Gazing', it reminded me of "The Wizard of Oz". Funny! Awesome movie if I do say so myself! And I do. =) I used to watch it once a year before I got busy with my family and all.
Anyway, I wanted to submit a story but it is down, due to too many submissions! =P I had a couple of things happen to me last night that are interesting to say the least! Go figure the minute I have to submit my NEW experiences, it's down.
Talk to you later. ~Shelby <3

Your welcome, I just wish there were some way I could take some of you by the hand and walk you through my life for a while 😊. Maybe then I could have a bit more understanding of what is going on here. I think I'm going to invest in one of those printer/scanner/copiers though. That would be one way we could all take a walk together. 😊

Hi WhiteBuffalo! That would be cool to see a picture that goes with the story but there is really no need to prove anything to me. Thanks for letting us know your intent though. A few months ago we got a new printer that has a scanner and a copier, very useful to have right at your fingertips! Anyway, like I said, no need to prove to me. Thanks anyway! 😊~Shelby ❤

After being questioned about another story I have posted here, I asked my parents (As I was on vacation with them in this story) to look up the exact name of the hotel and the cemetery, in case anyone needed to research. The only thing that they wrote down from the motel/hotel was the name of the owners: the Gilbert's. The cemetery's name is Pine Grove cemetery. Tom Brown's cross says Tom Brown and the stake part of the cross says 1905 colored. There is a small wooden marker, just a block really that stands next to the cross where it was first chiseled. I do have a photo of that, but no scanner to send it in as an attachment. Sorry. Both the motel/hotel and the cemetery are in the city of Eagle Harbour, Michigan.

Brave? No. More like oblivious to anything potentially dangerous. It was a small town with few houses where the people were as friendly as they come. My only thought was probably to prove my dad wrong. 😉 I only know that I truly did not expect anything like this and have never experienced it since.

Wow! What a story! I liked it! Although, if I were eight years old, I don't think I would have wanted to go into an old, creepy cemetary by myself. You were pretty brave. I think you just happened upon a 'ripple' as you would call it, in time that took you back to another time. Pretty cool! That's never happened to me before. Atleast not that I know of. Thanks for sharing this wonderful story! -Shelby 😊 ❤

If this was a spirit trying to convey a message, was it what he was given the opportunity to say (or was he answering my question as truthfully as he could)? Was he trying to help me find our lost graves? Or was I so spooked I did not give him the chance to say what was needed? I think of this often as it was my first contact that I can recall and I wonder if there is a way to recapture that moment and find those answers. If it was spontaneous time travel- how does that happen? Are there "ripples" that some of us are prone to discover or is this just a "chance" thing? Just trying to understand. Thanks to all who replied.

What an interesting anad heart felt story. Thank you for sharing it with us. The gentle man may have happened upon you to relay a message. Although you were there searching for markers for your family, there are others families buried and lost, time forgotten.
God Bless!

There is a theory and it is just a theory that once in a while people walk through portals or gates to a past time without realizing what has happened. Usually they come across people in period dress and such but don't pay any particular attention to it. Thinking it may be a parade or some thing. Then when they turn around to go do something else it all disappears. Is it possilbe? I really don't know, just one possible explaination. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Peace, Love, and Luck be with you.

Great story, wb. It sounds to me that you happened upon a spirit visiting another loved ones grave. And it would seem that this spirit had an important message to relay to you.
Thanks for sharing.

That's a very beautiful story. Thanks for sharing.
I recall reading a similar story in a book called 'unexplained mysteries'. Unfortunetly I've since lost the book, it's a complete mystery to me where it went.
😆
The story went that a man left his home one morning only to find that the busy city street that should have been there was gone. Instead he saw a dirt road and a man with a horse and cart. Perplexed, he turned back to go inside only to find that his house had disappeared and that he was instead standing in an open field. He turned back again to ask the man with the cart what was happening only to find to his amazment that the city street was back.
Just another case of spontaneous time travel.

Or... Maybe we are all just ghosts ourselves and the man you saw was real. When you spoke to him, it was he speaking to a ghost and not you. 
