I'm also scared of clowns. I'm more creeped out by them then scared. Once my grandma found a clown doll and when you pressed its hat it laughed like crazy. I gave it to my little cousin! And when I was at the fair someone tapped me on the shoulder and when I turned around there was a clown staring at me (which by the way scared the hell outta me)

You shouldn't have burnt the dolls just yet. I have read that to get rid of the evil spirit possessing the doll, you have to put in a wooden box, then burn it.

Another thing. I had a weird experience with an ugly clown doll. I was at goodwill, my mom lves that place, and I picked up this hidieously awsome clown doll, that had a face as if it were laughing. As soon as I picked it up, all of the lights went out. As soon as I put it down, the lights went back on.

[at] Sammie thanks for your comment to my story. CLowns are not neat to have around. I won't even go to a circus, as I know they have clowns there. SO still hate them and probably never will like them.

[at] bigred101 and killingkilgore, thanks for your comments to this story. I still hate them clowns. As for my cousin, well her and I never got along after that time. I think I hated her as much as I hated the clown. She was a brat for sure, and as an adult she is just an "adult brat" now too. We still don't get along, and probably never will, but no skin off my hide, as I really don't care.
Once again thanks.

Clowns scare the hell out of me too, and I haven't even experienced anything like that. I can only imagine how scared of them you must be. That was SO mean of your cousin to throw that doll at you two and try to scare you when you were already so scared. Thanks for sharing Flutterofwings 😊

[at] mustang, sorry meant read your story, I said it to Iorn_maiden instead. No I don't know John wayne Gacy but will look that up too...
I once had free ticket to the circus, and the more I thought about those CLOWNS they would have there the more I talked myself out of going. So I gave the tickets to my ex-husband and he took our kids to the circus. I didn't want no part of any clowns, figurines or dolls or in person. So staying home for me I felt safer.

[at] Iron_maiden-88, thanks for your comments on here and I will read your story too. If I been the age I am now instead of a child when this happen. It very well could of gave me a heart attack. And since it fed on fear, that thing must of not been hungry for a long time from all the fear it got from us kids.
NO NO NO clowns don't make most people laugh, and I think they are indeed hiding behind there face colors and all the real them.

Hi Flutterofwings. I, too, am a clown hater. I don't know what it is about them but I've hated them since I was little. I think there are many reasons behind the hatred of clowns. They wear all that make-up on their face as if to hide from you. They have a creepy laugh to go along with their creepy face. And, well, their demeanor is frightening. It's like they are trying to be funny and make you laugh but in truth they are hiding waiting to pounce on you. When I think of clowns, the thought of John Wayne Gacy(if you don't know who that is, look up the name and find out, YUCK), "IT", and the creepy experience I had with a ceramic clown I used to have. It is in one of my stories called "Shadows in My Life", in case you wanted to read it. Your story is definitely more terrifying than mine. I think that I would have died if what happened to you happened to me. I also think that FRAWIN hit it on the head with the feeding off of your cousin's bratty mean streak and you and your sister's fear. If it was left to starve to death, then I wonder if when that door was opened if it was hungrier than ever!? Frightening to think of that, huh?
Thanks for your story, it creeped me out!

SHELBY ❤

Just a question, but has a clown ever made any of you here laugh? I can only ever recall laughing at the 'Billy Madison' clown on the stilts that falls over... And Stephen King's 'IT' wrecked me since I was a baby, clowns are disgusting, creepy and dumb!

yes Frawin let's hope it did starve itsself when they moved. Yes my cousin was a spoiled brat, got anything she wanted or cried until she did. Everything had to be her way or no way. I think that is what clashed with me, I came from a large family and we all learned to share, and being with a self centered selfish brat just didn't set well with me anyways.
My mom and my sister and I would go to the park and meet my aunt and her kids, we didnt' go to my aunts house. I am not sure if mom knew something was wrong there or she didn't want us so frighten. As she mention to go to that aunts house, I say "No I am staying home" my little sister stand by me and say the same thing.
So meeting at the park down the road from that house, all was fine. Well should say fine as far as the clown went, not fine with Maxie getting her way.
You hit it right on with Maxie being a brat with a Capital B. Thanks for your reply to my comment.

Hi Flutter. Forgive for saying this but it seems to me that your cousin Maxie was, how's the best way to put this- a mean little BRAT. It seems to me that there was some connection between the clown and Maxie's mean streak. This thing fed off you and your sister's fear and the negative side of Maxie and after you all left it fed off Maxie and her family's fear.Let's just hope that after they left it starved to death. Take Care.

Sorry about the double entry, my computer disconned and I didn't know if it went through before it did so resent it...

[at] Kimsouth0, I wonder if it is possible that when I went there that time I brought with me some kind of attachment. As my uncle said nothing like that happen before. And yet I been there before this happen. But it is a good question to ponder on.

[at] Nebmom, I never read but did see one Stephen King movies, I went once to see something about the Midnight watch or something like that about a heck load of rats and I never was interested in him again, that was frighting.

[at] Krysteen, cracked old mirrors I agree with you there. Have a story of my own to write about one from years ago. Do you have one about that on here? If so I would like to read it. As there is more to old mirrors then what meets the eye.

[at] Chris, incidents after the room was blocked off and locked up, my cousin Maxies sister told me once that there was lots of activity in that room.
Like something trying to get out, scratching noises and banging. She said finally her mom told her dad she was moving out with the kids he could stay in the house. And that is when they all moved out. So sounds to me that, what ever IT was, was now very upset.

Now my cousin did have other clowns on that shelf in her bedroom. But for some reason they didn't bother me even thought I didn't like them being on the shelf. It was that last one she got that, soon as I went to her bedroom and looked at that shelf I didn't like that clown. It looked at me and laughed. And yet the clown was a new one her mom bought for her to join the other ones. Really can't say on this, any ideas?

Thanks all for the comments. The house was built where cows roamed and a pasture. It was in my uncles family for like three generations...

Up on a hill far from this area was an old farm house that was my uncles, grandparents home years ago. I know there is a family cemetary behind where that old house use to stand, from my uncles family.

From where Maxie live from that old house I would say would be a good mile away, as all that land for about five miles belonged to my uncle's kin folks. When his parents died he inherit all the land and the run down old farm house.

And as kids go we had to investigate the grave yard too. I just don't know what happen that time.

Wow, clowns again. I have heard of many people not liking clown, have even met a few people not lioking them, but htis is a new one on me. No wonder you don't like clowns if this is how they behave.

I wonder if there was maybe 'something' attached to one of the clowns your cousin kept in her room? Just a thought.

Do you have any idea of the history of the house or if any others had experiences in the house?

God Bless!

I suppose everyone commenting is afraid of clowns including me as you might have guessed!I'm just wondering, if most kids are afraid of clowns why parents or adults insist on buying them as gifts or hiring them for parties?!?
I can see why that experience has traumatized you Flutter. Since all of you heard and seen him as you described, the events couldn't have been a product of fear but something much more.

That was a scary story. It is going into my favourites. I was wondering if you could write about the incidents that happened I that room. You said it was boarded up and I was wondering what happened. Thanks

Frawin, I think it has to do with the fact that clowns laugh AT you. They are amused by your discomfort. Most people are afraid on some level of being laughed at or not being taken seriously. That and the make-up. Damn creepy jesters! 😆

Dang. I hate clowns. My step-sister had this painting of Bozo the clown type clown that you could wind up the back and it would play circus music... I wanted that thing to spontaneously explode... I hated it that much... That is the creepest story I have read on this site...Eeekk. 😆

Hi Flutter. I wonder what it is that makes so many people hate and fear clowns so much? Thank you for another interesting, although somewhat terrifing story. I enjoyed it even though I dislike clowns. Take Care.

YAHHHH...dang those clowns! 😨 That's the top entry on my list of what scares the hell out of me! Followed closely by old crackled mirrors (there's ALOT going on in that wavy glass!), and old oil paintings of people (just waiting for one of those Hitchcock moments of something changing with the person STARING at me with those follow-you-around-the-room eyes!).

Thank you for sharing your horrifying story with us! You have more courage than I do... If I'd mentioned this sort of story to anyone... My luck would be that I'd probably find that devil clown showing up on my doorstep! 😉
