First off, you are the only one who knew what you saw and if you believe in what you saw... That is all that matters. But I would like to add; you are the perfect set-up for something scary to happen...thunderstorm, young teen, dad away, scary garage... You get the point. Our imaginations can run wild with this kind of set-up. With that being said, I have read the other comments and I think that other people have a different take on this. I am a little skeptical about this experience but that does not mean that I don't believe you. Has anything else ever happened?

Hi my name is Nancy, and I'm from Alabama. You said you've been searching for anwsers for 10 yaers and I think I might have some anwsers for you. You first asked why the demon took the form of your father and that's a pretty easy anwser. You see most demons have the habbit of taking the form of loved ones or animals just to gain the trust of a living human. Deamons cannot enter a human or stay at a home unless they are welcomed. Your other two questions where why the demon was wearing sunglasses and why it didn't speak? Okay, with the the not wearing glasses part is another pretty easy anwser. The demon had to hide one of the most important things about himself and that was his eyes. By showing his eyes to you it would have been easy for you to figure out that it wasn't your father. Thats why his eyes where hidden and he didn't speak to you. Finally you asked " why out of all people in the world... Why you"? Vanessa that question could have so many anwsers; like maybe he chose you because your some type of sensitive, or maybe because of your age, but like I said that question could have so many anwsers.

I understand how fake this story sounds, but it did happen. If I read this I would believe it was fake as well. Yet, the experience was real.

As ALevin said, it sounds like an obviously fake, but still spooky ghost story, and I wouldn't be surprised if it actually was.

It was believable for me up until it raised a clawed hand up to the window.

Ghosts and demons rarely show themselves to the naked eye, and when they do, they typically don't do such hollywood-esque things, like the one in this story.

hmmm I think I know what happened to you what you saw was real I think this is a genuine case of a reptilian shapshifting you should look up reptilian shapshifters on line and do a little reasarch this is a new phenomenon going on today you should also watch youtube vids on reptilians. That wasn't your real dady it was a physical demon known as a reptilian. Jesus can protect you from a reptilian. Even though these reptilans are physical beings. Strange and scary. I think it's a demon forming to be like your dad. That happened when my mom used to live in Laos. She saw a man looking like her uncle. He just stood there not smiling but frozen for 3 or 5 minutes and vanished as he was walking in a different direction. The next day she asked her uncle and he said it wasn't him. He had been sleeping all the time.

Wow, I'm sorry that happened.

All I can say is that when a demon takes a human form it will try to take a whole human form, but because it was never once human, the shape will not be complete. You will see a difference in the demon... Sometimes it has been seen as it being half animal or even missing eyes.

See my mom told me that ever since I was young and I have had times where there WAS something is my room after I misplaced a mirror. My cat midnight would growl at the mirror and I could FELL something bad coming from there... After the mirror was taken out (and smashed with a sledge hammer and purified) I didn't feel anything and my cat actually slept at night again.

My dad died in 1999 also and I can relate to the three knocks on the wall... Other old time posters here, will also clarify that 3 knocks is the presence of a spirit... I doubt whether it was a demon, as I think there would have been further encounters from that point on... Perhaps he wanted you to get inside... There could have been some living demons very close to the house, at the time... And this was his only way to get you to move? I know if I were a spirit and there was a predator lurking around my house and 6 year old daughter I would probably do the same thing... And you know what... 10 years down the track wouldn't it give you some type of closure if you considered what I'm saying... Thank you for sharing...

As for the reason it wouldn't speak and that it was on sunglasses, I have a theory. I've heard that demons and such often have either black eyes or animal eyes. So sunglasses would work to cover it up. And I'm not sure demons can "talk" but if they could, I would not want to hear it. Lol. I'd probally sound like "GGRRRR. Vanessssssaa. Oooopenn the doooooorrrrrrr."
I think it took your dad's form for 2 reasons: One, your dad would be the only one who it would even make SLIGHT sense to be outside. Second, to lure you into a false sense of sequrity.
Good thing you didn't open the door! Especially since it had CLAWS. Do not want to image how it would've turned out for you.
Anywho, I'm guessing that it dosen't bother you anymore 😁 But if it does, you can pray if that's what you're religion is. Also, I'd suggest burning sage if this thingy bothers you again (as long as its not aganist your religion)

vmolina, nothing about your story sounded fake at all. It was very believable, and truly chilling. I think that oldgeorge's explanation of the entity's similarity to your father is probably the most likely. I like that you showed such courage in not opening that door. That courage is probably why it never came back.

i'm completely sure of what I saw. 100%. It may sound like a fake story, I know. Yet it did happen.

somethin takin the image of your dad is astounding... Its a very smart thing... Just to let you know there is a mirror world where these things can come through... But you sure about what you saw...

Talim; I don't mean to contradict you... But I had always understood that you -had- the mirror face the door to act as a through way. Then it doesn't get "stuck" if it manages to come through... Of course each interpretation is different.

this is quite a serious happening but what you must think about is if you feel safe where you are. The past is the past and the past will haunt you. Just don't allow any mirrors to point towards a door or window (its considerred a gate way for demons) if you ever feel scared burn sage and meditate. Pray if that's what your religion calls for.

After reading your story... I can some what relate. Being a physic you see... Alot of odd things. Evil can take place in ANY SHAPE OR FORM. It took the shape of your father because you have a close relationship with you Dad You did the right thing into NOT opening the garage door. These "demons" or "Devil" feed off fear. I'm not sure why it had Sun-glass's on... That puzzle's me. I hope this helped just a little 😊

Maybe he wore the glasses because if you saw his eyes you would know it was something evil, like having red eyes. Its just a guess though.

maybe it too the familiar form of your dad to offer a sense of false comfort. If you saw a face you trusted, maybe you would trust it. Maybe he didn't sound like you dad and never saw his eyes or something. The glasses I can't explain. Sorry.

There are very subtle layers of demonic interaction, but these generally do not show up in a place like this, but more or less in a counseling setting. If you read old monastic texts, they speak frequently of these subtle levels of influence. We even use the term 'noonday demon' in describing depression, from its early reference to demonically-inspired sloth.

Obviously there are many people talking about demons in response to this story. While oldgeorge is well informed and has useful advice his thoughts on demons aren't actually completely accurate. There are demons that are more than happy to befriend you and please you in any way possible and not ever try to harm you or get you to harm others. I realize it sounds like I'm saying some demons are safe at this point but that is not the case at all. These demons are a distraction and that is all. This may not sound to bad but it is. Your life is short you don't have time to waste on demonic distractions even if they are all pleasant you are still being deprived of living. I honestly think this type of demon is far more common then people realize.

Demons can take on of forms of people or animals. All they need to do is observe someone and they can create a semblance, like an apparition that looks similar to someone. The only limit is that they cannot make a complete image, which is why you were able to identify it as not being your father. Since demons do not die, they have the advantage of countless centuries of observing humans. They are very familiar with us.

One thing to remember is that a semblance is not a physical manifestation. It looks fairly real, but it does not have a material content. It may be able to pick up an object, but if you try to touch it your hand will find nothing.

I think he was not a demon. He may have been a vampire. Vampires have claws and cover their eyes with glasses, to not reveal their strange eyes, which may be completely black or white. According to folklore, vampires consider themselves to be noble and can't enter to people's dwellings without permission.That's why he asked you to open the door. I don't know why he resembled to your father and for this I agree with the others, that he may have been a demon.

Listen to me. Look up a book on dopplegangers you may have had an experience. I haven't myself but my sister has. She woke up in the middle of the night after having a nightmare and found my mom sitting on her bed. She was relieved and told my mom about it but she just sat there then disappeared. She screamed and my mom came running from the bedroom but was never in the room. I have yet to read about it but I suggest you look into it.

I am sure it didn't want to scare you by the look of that things eyes that can turn by like red or black never know that why the thing wear sunglasses... Also It can take on form like your father... Bw it creepy I would have run like you did too.

I know I keep commenting I'm sorry I keep thinking of things. I'll stop I promise. But looking back I remember the family director & I seeing the same spirits at different times. These spirits would look like our clients loved ones that we had organised funerals for (I'm a mortician as well) Well we would see some of the exact same spirits & sometimes I would know. Just know that it wasn't the spirit of that person passed. My co-worker would know as well. Theres just a certain finesse that demons lack when they try to take on a human form, just a little something missing. & of course there's those of us that get frightened at the sight of any spirit when your dealing with the enemy & his cohorts you can feel it. They can do that because when we had that private conversation with that loved one, we were not alone. Demons pay close attn. & are around constantly. Geez that would have been quite frightning to have witnessed at that age definitely sounds like something demonic. Had you or any other family memebers experienced anything else like this? To copy what Moongrim said did you manage to get a photo of the claw marks?

Just a few observations:

1) demons cannot manifest a complete human form. Claws or 'hooks' for hands and blacked-out eyes are the most common indications.

2) motioning to the dorr button seems to indicate he was hoping that, by opening the door for him, you were inviting him in which would give him rights to enter and thus terrorize you.

3) the manifestation indicates you were being 'stalked,' in the sense that the demonic entity cased you to find out what your dad looks like, etc. Most people do not take this into account, and so they tend to believe manifestations are actually of close relatives when they are impersonations.

4) demons can speak, but for some reason this one did not seem to have that authority to. Usually demonic mimcry is brief, like calling one's name or short anwers. I would think that only the most powerful demon could carry on a prolonged conversation in another's voice.

5) you may never encounter such an entity again, then again you may. Be cautious.

Wow, I would have traumatized had that happened to me. Like Moongrim said, good thing you listened to your instincts. I too have heard that negative entities must be 'let in', so you were smart in not opening the garage door. My parents have crosses made out of the the palm leaves we get on Palm Sunday near entryways of our homes (even some of our cars!) as in extra precaution.

Yikes that gave me the creeps 😨 I agree with kardagen in regards to why this demon/evil entity hid it's eyes and voice from you. Good thing you didn't open the door. I'm sure it took you a long time to recover from that experience. Thank you for sharing your story. 😊

Face to face with aa Demon, that's some must've been a traumatic incident there. There is no way a normal spirit could do that. Malevolant Spirits especially Demons use negative emotion especially fear and anger to manifest and become a full apparition (Looks solid rather than just shadow) and the storm gives it more energy boost. Your fear and the storm maybe strong enough to make that "Thing" to manifest rather just being invicible. Encounters like this shouldn't taken lightly. If this still happens heres my advice:

1.Do not show fear
2.Do not be too confident like challenging it or something like that
3.Do not try anything stupid like try to fight it using a chair or throw object to it.

I hope this advice helps cause I'm still a rookie in things like Demonologist or Paranormal stuff. Hope you have a good life there.

The Rakshasa, is a known mimic. And quite evil.

There are certain aspects that are difficult to mimic, the voice, and the eyes. In my own understanding which I fully admit is not always right. Negative entities must be let in, allowed entry. If you saw its eyes, or it had spoken you would have knowen it wasn't your dad and denied it instantly.
