Because of the fact that the activity continued for your ex's brother and sister in law, I would say it had something to do with the trailer. Had it been owned before you guys purchased it, or did you buy it new? It's possible that you were experiencing the replayed events of people that lived there, unless there's anything you left out which might suggest it was an intelligent haunting... And by the way, kudos to you for turning the tables on your ex! 😆

kardagen and The Unknown - the women's and children's voices were only heard by me and my sister-in-law. For years after I continued to hear women and children. I can't say they are the same women and children; I wouldn't think so. But I did continue to hear them.

The thuds, yeah, that really confused as well as scared me. Imagine being jolted awake like that. Not once, but several times. That also happened a couple of different times and in different homes after my first husband and I divorced.

I agree with unknowen on the residual haunting of the women/children, were you the only one to hear them? Other then the sister inlaw? As for the thud. Well a long shot some residual hauntings are stuck in a loop if its a strong enough entity it may come into 'physical' contact with objects in our realm causing an impact the entity doesn't notice but we do. Hopfully that makes scence.

The hearing women and children voices thing might have been a repeat haunting. Much more like a movie on repeat, except that this one is just 'voices', no actual spirits seen, as stated in your story.

Secondly, the thudding,...my goodness I have no explanation for that. Could be poltergeist activity or something more horrible to know 😕.
