It is a good place to watch the skies. I think we've got at least 12 observatories in the surrounding area. The city has light pollution laws. And the only one suffering seems to be the red squirrel. No relation to me, of course.

Its all relative ladies. How could you live in Arizona and not believe in aliens?

You know, we do have some long time members here that are pretty knowledgeable on astral projection.
But it's funny how many people will believe ghost and spirit encounters but not alien encounters, and vice verse. I'm interested in both myself. There are just too many experiences, pertaining to both subjects, that I find it difficult to discount the possibility of either one.

I agree, I have read many books and first hand accounts of the third and fourth kind. A lot of them are pretty scary. But once in a while you come across an account where the aliens bring a message of peace. A lot of it has to do with astral projecting. Going to their realm or something. For my next subject on my blog, I'm going to try to learn to astral project. I bought three books; 2 on how to actually do it, and one that helps you communicate with aliens. I'm skepitcal, but hey, it's worth a try...

I know what you mean, its a fascinating subject The only thing that bothers me is the lack of experiences that could be considered as close encounters of the third kind that aren't frightening. There have got to be some out there, but all we usually hear about are the abductions and probes.

I've seen Paul! Loved it! Loved all the legendary and movie references! I haven't checked this site all weekend and I'm excited to see more UFO encounters. Interesting stuff. Aliens and UFOs are one of my favorite subjects to research.

What it felt like, I was being handled no other way to describe it, except when coming around from an operation... If you have had that experience, that's the only way it can be described... Me running away, nothing to hide here mate... Although I don't want to start over thinking about it... As that would probably only put the seed in my mind, if it was just a sub conscious illusion and I'm on record for saying a lot of these experiences and others can be just illusions, including some of my own... The difference is I don't usually write or submit them unless I feel they are validated.

All I'm trying to say is, even those who wave off the subjects of ghosts and UFOs have it somewhere in the back of their minds as a question mark. They can't prove to me that these things don't exist when I've seen the things I've seen and that's just the truth of it.

Badjuu, that's exactly what I saw a couple of times with my curious eye...Jav, no there was no probing as such and I'm not suggesting it was little green men 😆 but it was something unusual and something that made me wonder for a while... But I have no intention of preparing for Armageddon or writing a story about it... Cause people will laugh about these types of experiences including myself... I don't know what it was but seeming were on the topic I thought I would bring it up... I can understand why those who have these types of experiences believe their real and who knows why would they be any more far fetched than other stories here? You know there would be a whole lot of people laughing at us and our ghost stories.

OK, so it looks like I'm not the only one who watches the skies. I'm telling you, it's crazy up there! But we just sat there like the king and queen of doofi, and just kept staring! Oh no, not a thought in our heads about being abducted, just sitting there all stupid and staring! 😆 😆 😆

Since I'm ticked off at a quest and need a game break, I'll pile into this convo.
A couple years ago, Brad and I were standing outside. Beautiful, starry night, and peaceful outside for a change. We were just enjoying the peace and looking at the stars like a pair of doofuses (doofi?) And I saw this one particularly bright star. I got sort of hypnotized by it. Brad asked me what I was staring at, so I pointed at the star. It was visible between two bare sycamore branches. He looks at it, says "that's not a star. It's moving." Sure enough, the "star" was moving in small circles. It was a wtf moment. Then Brad says, "Connie, get the f- in the house. NOW!" We ran inside, I was like "what was that?" Brad was saying "omg, we just saw a UFO! We saw a mother- UFO!"
We don't stargaze like doofi very much anymore.

I don't know how I'd react if that happened to me. I know it would be freaky, I just don't know how I'd feel about it, you know? Do you feel violated at all? Not sexually, just like you were kidnapped for no reason but to examine you like a slide in a microscope?

granny, that's what was so weird, how fast they were changing their direction. Zip! Zip! Zip! Like that, it was freaky as hell. We still bring that up, then we get out the telescope and start watching again, but I've never seen anything like it since.

Yeah it was strange Jav... I think you guys all know I'm straight up with stuff like this... I don't talk about them a lot... Cause I do know our minds can play some powerful tricks and you only got to go to the sister site here and just see how many people fall victim to their own illusions... But I have to say... This experience was a little stranger than normal, lol.

I think you may be able to see them at times, depending on their orbital trajectory, and the elipse of their orbit... But I don't think they change positions so drastically...

That's one of the things about the southwest, it's the desert at night. Man, the stuff you can see if you just take the time to look. It's amazing to watch the stars at night...
Which brings back another memory.
When my oldest turned 16, my niece was going to give her one of her old cars for her birthday. It was a Datsun 240Z, totally cool car for a kid to have, huh? Anyway, we all loaded into the camper and drove from Tucson to meet her at the river (same river). We got there and met her at her "cabin" on the river and decided to camp out in her yard. As everybody is falling asleep, David and I are watching the skies and I'm telling him about the time I saw the one I just told you about. Then David starts to sit up and he squinting at the sky, so I start to follow what he's looking at. What was really weird was it looked like two stars were just zigzagging separate from the other stars and each other. They were just going in one direction and then they'd jerk away to another direction real quick like. At first we were thinking they were satellites maybe changing course or something, but you can't see a satellite with the naked eye, can you?

Cool story Jav, you know a few months back, I was in a deep sleep... But I could feel these hands kind of moving my feet and straightening me up back in bed, it felt like I was drugged and they were doing it quick, like they knew I was coming to my senses, I had no fear what so ever but the thing I can parallel it too, is like just after an operation and your coming back around... Now of coarse it could be my imagination, dreaming or S/P...For example, but in the back of my mind It felt like something else... Like I was being examine... Now guys I can here you all laughing and honestly it probably was just my imagination... But it has been on my mind since... Not going to loose any sleep over it... But it was a strange experience.

I can't remember smelling anything so I'm sure there weren't any strange smells. But if there was anything strange in the air, it was our nerves! We drove the rest of the way just alternating between saying nothing and then one of us would just say say "Oh my God!" and we'd go over it again and again until we finally hit the river. The next morning we started in on it again...

Jave: That's pretty cool... I would love to see something like that, honestly... Leslie and I are planning on going back to Rachel and spending the night in the desert, or at least the Little A'Le'Inn...They have cabins (house trailers LOL) that they rent out...

Now that is a close encounter of the second kind! That is way more exciting than my ufo story! Were there any strange smells or did you get any weird feelings at all? Crazy stuff there!

So all philosophy aside, hell yes I believe! It is arrogant, as granny pointed out, to believe we are the only planet that has evolved into the space age. For all we know, we're the stragglers of the whole bunch. The last ones on board so to speak.

Back in 1977 I was driving with a friend from Big Bear to the Colorado River, we used to go down there to work in the summertime and go back home for the winter to work at the ski slopes. Anyway, we were driving to the river, and we always do this stretch of road at night because it's too hot in the daytime, and a few miles past 29Palms (a town) we start to see this weird set of lights ahead. It looked like an oncoming vehicle so we slowed down to the speed limit and kept moving, waiting to see it go by in the opposite lane. Thing was, it never got any closer. It seemed to be facing us, but going in reverse or something because even when we sped up we could never catch up to it. This went on for about a half hour when all of a sudden it just shot straight up! We watched as it stopped mid-air, turned slowly in a complete circle and then shot off up and to the left. We had to pull over, both of us were shaking so bad! It was one of the coolest things I ever saw! When it shot off upward and left, it was just gone! No trails, no nothing! Now, remember that this was 1977, we still didn't have that kind of technology yet.

Think about this, In the African jungle the lion is at the head of the chain and king of it's domain... Nothing hunts or threaten's the lion... The lion who's lays there in the fields, looks up toward the sky and see's a UFO? We know it as a 747 right... We also very cautiously observe the lion in its inhabitants and sometimes un knowing to the beast but sometimes I'm sure the lion catches us observing him... If the lion could talk, I'm sure he would tell his brothers and sisters about the dream he had when he felt like he was abducted by humans and probed and ear marked... Poor lion... The others would think he was crazy... How would that be possible we own this planet? So granny I agree for us to think we are the most intelligence life force in the universe is ignorant and Jav don't hold out on us, I would be interested to hear your opinion... Lol

Those sound like phantom cars. But there certainly could be an alien connection. Men in Black are known to drive around in disappearing cars. However, there are tons of ghost cars out there. So there's really no telling what you saw. I bet it was a phantom. As for aliens, they seem to be able to pop in and out of our demension without so much as a thought. Some people think strange spacecraft are some sort of spirit carriers. I don't know about that. It all goes back to Brad Steiger's books for me. He has some pretty crazy examples of ghosts intertwined with UFO sightings. I just know there have to be aliens. They may not be what we imagine them to be. But dang! So much space out there, there's bound to be someone else. I do believe a lot of UFO sightings are secret government aircraft. But they can't all be. Jav, you've seen UFOs?

Aussie I totally agree with you...It's rather arrogant and ignorant to believe that our little speck of planet is the only one in this entire universe able to support intelligent life forms...Now, I'd have to see one with my own eyes to believe they've paid us a visit, but I don't doubt the theory of their existance

If I can be serious for a moment, My son and I saw a car disappear before our eyes in broad daylight... Only 20 to 30 feet away travelling at about 5 mph... So what to hell was that?...put the people inside the car a side for a moment and ask yourself how could a car disappear... And if it can and it did... Then it could be possible for Alien aircraft to come into our air space and disappear also no doubt... I also have a couple of friends, one a truck driver who years ago was followed by one on a highway and it too just vanished into thin air... So if you ask me, my thoughts are as moulder said... There out there scully... Just got to be careful who you mention it too, I'm on enough meds as it is... 😆

Heck yeah I've been to Roswell! I've totally been to the UFO museum. I've been obsessed with aliens ever since I was a little girl. I would never have bad dreams about aliens. They were always quite exciting actually. Once I had a dream where aliens took me aboard their spaceship, and as we flew away, I happily waved goodbye to my mom. I need to get back to Roswell again. Big Bear is, or at least WAS a trippy place. There is a band of weirdness that runs from May Van Canyon, through Dead Man's Lake (yeah, I know, huh) through Erwin Lake, up the hill that divides it from Baldwin Lake, across Pan Hot Springs (how interesting to grow up in a place that had two sites that honored Pan. Here's one of them, the Peter Pan Club...http://www.scripophily.com/webcart/vigs/peterpanwoodlandphoto.jpg), and then up Van Dusen Canyon. If you look at it on a map, it's a band of "Odd" that runs from Southeast to Northwest, all the way across the valley.

All of the places I have mentioned have weird tales attached to them.

Matt - sometimes we get our goodbyes in different ways, some a little more subtly than others. "Sweet Little Sister" is one of those stories that just touches your soul.

[at] Miracles... Thanks for the welcome. This is a pretty cool site. And I have Javelina to thank for introducing me to it. We're both members of a FaceBook group, and when Javelina posted her "Sweet Little Sister" story here, she linked to it in the FB group. I've been dropping by ever now and then ever since, and because I have a couple of ghost stories to tell my ownself, I figured I might as well join in.

I was really REALLY good friends with Sheila, the subject of Javelina's "Sweet Little Sister" story, and if you had known her back when I did, you would see how aptly Javelina titles the story. Sheila was one of those people without one mean bone in her entire body.

A friend notified me when she passed on, and although I didn't get the goodbye wave that Javelina did, I sure felt it right to the core.

[at] Javelina, yeah I remember those little cabins. I don't remember the fire, but I'm sure that there were a lotta fires in Big Bear that I never knew about. It wouldn't surprise me if it happened, and it would surprise me even less if an unhappy dishwasher did a little arson thing. I've worked as a dishwasher more than once, and I can vouch for the fact that busting suds all day for minimum wage is enough to make anyone a little... Shall we say, "disgruntled".

Cool! Thanks for posting the link. It's weird how much darker the windows on the left side of the entrance are. That's the bar side though, so I guess it makes sense.
Holy Crap! I just remembered something. There used to be a couple of cabins out behind the restaurant that were part of the property, that's where the dishwasher was living when all this took place. Then, either right before or right after it sold, those cabins burned to the ground. I can't recall how the fire started, only that there was a lot of talk about the way it didn't burn anything else around the cabins, no trees or underbrush were burned maybe? I could be wrong on that point though. I've got to check that out...

Also, while I was giving my memory bone a workout, I remembered that before it was the Stein and Sirloin, it was called the Sportsman's Tavern.

I think you mean Wally Webber. Wally Seidler was the tall gangly guy from BBHS with the horn rimmed glasses and long hair that could make us laugh until we couldn't breathe and hung out at the Oppenheim's old house up on Fox Farm Rd. He had an older sister named Janet that was living with Spider back then. Wally Webber owned Bogarts and had a family owned Realty Business just below the old Catholic Church. I don't remember if he had any part in that deal or if he had any ownership in it. He always had so many different projects that it was hard to keep up with the guy. So it is possible.

Oh yeah, that's it! The Stein and Sirloin. Didn't Wally Siedler (the same guy that owned Bogart's) have something to do with running it as The Anchorage?

It was the "Stein and Sirloin" when my mom ran it. I think Sandi Wheaton and Carol both worked there for her too. Before that I'm pretty sure it was the "Sportsman's Tavern". Which would mean it has only had three names.
Toni works there now. She does the books in the mornings when no one else is there.

Well this is a pleasant surprise. Having someone from home stop by is always welcome. And you are absolutely right about those steaks, I can almost smell them from here. I'm sure you remember the pre-Anchorage days when they carried "Beers from Around the World". Which in reality meant Germany and Japan. I always cracked up about how they cheated in their advertisement by giving the impression they had circumnavigated the globe in their search for the best beers. RIGHT!

I used to live in the same town as Javelina, and I've heard about the Anchorage Ghost. I never had any experiences with it but I did eat and drink there a few times. It's been years since I've been there but they served a mean steak back in the day and the martinis would knock you off your barstool.

The place always did look sort of creepy to me. Do a google image search with the words "Captain's Anchorage" and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks heaps guys Queensland has copt it rather horribly worst flood in like the last 35years, I'm not definite but I think maybe just over 20 lives lost.
My Auntie and cousins live over there but did not receive any of the major flooding much to my relief, but yes as you said the devestation it has caused is tremendous and is heartbreaking to have witnessed. Thanks for all your support guys it means a lot to us Aussies! 😊 ❤

What do you know? I was just going to sneak over here and read some stories and I find you here. How you doing, little brother from down under?
It wasn't really that scary after the chair incident, it was more like "Now what's he going to do tonight?" Because it was always something. What we considered a small experience back then would today be a big deal, I suppose. It's just not as active as back when my mom was managing the place. And like I said, I'm pretty sure ol' George had a crush on her. She was pretty tough, of course it didn't hurt that she was a stunning redhead. 😉 ❤ 😊
