Back in April 2011, me and my then partner moved into a flat with our 10 month old son, now the flat we moved to used to be a house which the upstairs was converted to, so there was a staircase leading up to flat and it was open, so a huge landing and then multiple rooms coming off of it as you would expect for an upstairs of a house.
The first 2 weeks were quiet in the flat, nothing out of the ordinary, until one night we were asleep, and were woken by a high pitched scream through the baby monitor, thought it was our son so went to check and he was sound asleep... Bit odd but thought nothing of it at that point.
Fast forward 4 months, my partner and I split and so it was just me and my son who was now 1 years old on the flat... This is where things get interesting.
One evening I was layed on my sofa and my son was on my lap, he was staring out into the hallway, and was playing peekaboo? For some reason it really freaked me out so much so I told my son off for doing it! Later that night around 2am I woke up to use the bathroom and as I headed through the landing I saw my kettle light turned on, rubbed my eyes and looked again still on and then it boiled so I ran back to bed and hid like a child under my duvet.
A few days later I was again in bed and heard a thud in the living room so went to check it out and there was a candle that was on the fire place that had fallen and was rolling across the floor and stopped next to my foot. Again freaked out and ran back to bed. A hour or so later I hear a door handle move (coming from my sons room) got up thinking it was him. Checked and he was asleep. A few minutes later same thing again. This time I really thought it was my son as I'd just been in so thought I woke him, but again still asleep, as I turned to shut his door back up, I saw my bathroom door handle turn, so I ran back to bed terrified!
I started staying at my sisters house a lot after this as I was scared! When I did come home one day, I was in for a shock!
As I walked up the stairs, my son's toy was going off and it was making sounds that need to be activated by a ball (you roll a ball down and it hits the button as it rolls over it) and in my son's room all his drawers were open, wardrobe open, and his china money box sat perfectly on the floor (it was in his wardrobe on a shelf)
After that lots happened.
Things would move, footsteps on the landing, even the bath plug disappeared and later showed up on top of a shampoo bottle.
I met a new partner in 2012 and one night we went out and came back around 11pm. We both saw a black/brown tall slim figure on the landing! We saw this on multiple occasions!
6 months later I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd son, and a few days after I found out I woke up I don't know what time and rolled over, I saw a man, no legs, red cotton jumper, long grey/white hair and beard just stood next to my partner! Didn't look at or just stood.
I don't understand what happened in that flat, but it freaked the hell out of me!
We moved 7 months later.
But, I felt that except for the sounds it made, some of the toys moving on their own, the drawers being open, there was nothing physically hurting you or your son. But, it is quite strange when you said that you ran and hid like a kid because your fear got over you and you didn't think of your son. Anyway the best way to deal with paranormal encounter is to be bold and don't give way to fear. Because many a times, it drains your energy.
In our Indian Hindu custom, when we move into a house, rental or otherwise, we do perform some rituals to ward-off negative energies, if at all, it were present. It helps. Just wanted to share. That is all.
Thanks for giving a write-up on your experiences.
Regards and respects to you.
