I don't allow my deck to produce reversed cards. I shuffle them almost like I would shuffle playing cards. I do wash them before each new reading but I make sure to turn them all back the same direction before I shuffle them.

hi guys at this rate darkness will be reading his cards for others real soon with all the advice

Rook no offence taken at all every one does there readings slighly different that's the way I do the dimond for a quick read but I do know others put the cards in different possitions its the reading that's the main thing will be looking into your way too 😊

Redphx so if you get a reversed card do you just turn it? Never thought of doing that interesting!

sorry for the double postings but I wasn't paying attention to my editing *gg* I meant to say that using reverse cards is a fairly new technique that is just in recent decades being practiced. I don't really like it.

as far as spreads go - I don't have a specific spread that I use. What I do and it's mostly because I know my deck to well. It that I just ask questions and depending on how detailed an answer I want I lay out the cards in a single row and read them like a story. I will lay anywhere between 3 to 5 cards for each question. After a question in answered I gather my cards up and reshuffle for the next. I do not do reverse cards as this is a farily common technique and in my opinion serves no purpose. Other may feel differently. Once you are finished with the journey of the fool you will be able to know what you and cards like

Darkness - the tarot is a wonderful way to complete a spiritual journey. It is called the journey of the fool. You start out as a child in your infancy stage and make your way through the arcana. The way I did it was this. I started with card 0. In my deck that is the Green Man. He represents the fool in other decks. He is the soul with no experience. I reflected on this card, thinking of my life and how I compared to the fool in my past and how I still did in my present. I focused on this card for about a week. Then the next week I went on the my card 1 - which was the High Priest in my deck. This is an excellent way to learn yourself and your deck

DARKNESS,

First it would depend on how many cards you will be using in the reading... Is it a 4 card (point) spread? A 5 or even 6?

The 4 card Diamond (Simple Cross) allows for quick resolution as you only have to read four cards and they represent the following: The first card (on the left) represents the obstacles
The second one (placed to the right) stands for the chance
The third one (placed above) represents your question
The last one (4th, placed below) is the answer.

(reading taz's description kind of confused me... No offense taz, but it did...😲)

It's a wonderful layout to get a feel for your deck and for doing actual readings as you get comfortable with your cards.

Here is a link to 7 popular layouts and short descriptions on how to lay the cards for each pattern...

Again, I use the Celtic Cross (w/ 10 cards) this was the first layout I learned (self taught) and I have found that the 'text book' desrciptions of the placement reprsentations is not quite how it works for me... If you want e-mail me (or ask here) and I'll explain what each position represents for me.

When I do a reading...I've been know to be up to 95% accurate on peoples past and when I get feedback, it seems to be about the same percentage for each individuals answers... I was so accurate with my Mom's Past she stopped the reading and told me that if I wanted to use the cards...'fine, I just don't want to know about it.' She never asked me 'what I was into' again. πŸ˜‰

Respectfully,

Rook

Hi Rook I have heard of the Celtic Cross layout as I am quite new to all this I'm going to try the Diamond type layout Taz was explaining to me. What are your thoughts on this mate? 😊

I see a whole heap of ground has been covered here sense I last saw this thread... Wow wee, wonderful advice has been given.

As far as cards that fall out during a shuffel before a reading...Well, I defer to my 'gut feelings' on that one... It may be just that I have 'big clumsy fingers' and a card or two happened to fall out of the deck... But there are times when it 'feels' as if it was ment to be part of the reading... If that's the case I set them aside and continue the 'casting' then work them into the complete reading.

I'm very 'old school' when it comes to the Tarot, I use the Celtic Cross layout for all my readings. It's a ten card spread and the way I read the cards it provides me with both past and current events that infuence the 'outcome' of the reading.

Keep it up folks, the information that has been shared here has been top notch and I hope educating for those reading.

Respectfully,

Rook

missed a bit out 😲
When you do the spread its like ~
1st major 4th minor 3rd major

1st minor 2nd major 3rd minor

2nd minor

Minor shuffled, cut and delt like says in book set out first then same with major.
Then read minor 1~4 in order then major 1~3 in order the set up should be shown in what ever book you have with the cards you have this is the most simple of readings.
So not set out seperate but shuffled cut and delt seperetly when ever you do a reading youyself or a friend just remmber set minor out first then major

questions not a problem at all, keep asking.
Thats right reading the cards can be easy as reading a paper or as hard as instructions to building a car from kit form. If you know the parts it will got easy.
Some can mean 2 different things like the major cards one means older gent but also person of the cloth/vicar so depending on the question it could be an old guy or a wedding so read all the cards before trying to get the answer, another story comming now 😊
Young guy had his cards done knew nothing about him at all was the son of a driver I had done the week before, anyway I had to ask this lad question after question to make sure the reading was going right.
Do you have a girl friend?
Are you planning holliday?
Do you want to move home?
Every card he got had more than one possible answer I usualy take 15 ~25 minutes on one reading this took just over an hour.
In the end I told him yes he will move in with his dad, yes his girlfriend is loyal to him but watch his friend who likes her too will try and split them up to get her himself (he tried but failed ha!)

Now I mentioned the cups as they are normaly the deck people want me to read, any of the minor cards is fine each set covers different sub catogries depends on the question. You would not use cups for buissness questions but if a friend is planning to ask girlfriend to marry him then cups is the deck needed.

I keep all my cards together but in seperate suits cups, coins, wands, swords and major they have strips of white paper wrapped across the middle keeping them in suits
Find it easy then to get all the right cards for the right questions, you don't want to be sorting through them all just to tell a friend his girl will laugh and run away very quickly LOL

Couple of other things to know
When shuffling cards if you drop any DO NOT just pick em up and put them back, the cards dropped will have a message needed to be known.

If you have a simple yes no question use normal everyday playing cards (which are based on tarot cards) play solitaire if you win its yes if you loose no just keep question in mind while shuffleing and dealing them out first time.
It works and can be freaky tooπŸ˜†
Not sure how many more can post today so will say bye now just in case I can't answer next one but will try

I getya mate thanks for that, I think will give this a try tonight. As you mentioned you can read all you want but you actually have to do it to really get to know them. Just clarifying when you mentioned 4 cards of cups is it specificaly cups or any of the suits? Also do you have the Minor and Major Arcana seperated for this spread? Sorry bout all the questions champ! 😊
taz890 (12 stories) (1380 posts)

14 years ago (2011-05-11)
guessing you got the book with them all in.
The easy one to start with is 4 (say cups) and 3 major hard to discribe but will try.
Starting with the cups cards placed in dimond shape then the 3 major placed two at top one in center I'm sure it is called the basic or some thing like that.
Any way it goes past, cause for question, hazzards in way, out come, then the 3 will got through same but more details given.
Like in past a dark haird woman annoyed you (or something)
You want to move job~ causing the question to be asked
Your old boss will try to keep you there ~hazzard/obsticals in way
Work satisfaction~ outcome
Im trying not to make this sound hard I hope this is ok

Thanks Taz naa no rash here mate lol. Okay that's cool I have kind of been doing what you mentioned basically just drawing one or 2 cards a day getting to understand them and the questions are basically on the lines of what you have mentioned. When it comes to the layout of cards for yourself what would you suggest mate?

DARKNESS
Know what you mean need coffee here too 😁
It is a good idea to try the cards out on yourself get used to them and them to you.
Try asking simple questions with short time lines to start but try to word the question so the answer will not be a simple yes//no.
Rune stones work better for them type of questions (I do them too) won't start confusing you with them too not yet anyway lol

Questions like "will I in 2 weeks get the raise at work" are yes/no but ask it like " with in 3 weeks are my finances improved enough to do..." sounds like yes no answer but also in there the cards will tell you what will happen to gain or loose raise at work but as an extra week added there will be more info needed to fill in.

You say you want spiritual questions answered word to the wise the cards tell you what you need to know sometimes this is not what you want to know,

In my last job used to work with a woman whos grandson had sma2 that was eating away his muscels born with it no cure he would pass on when got to his heart.
She asked if he would live to see his birthday 3~4 months away, she was told problems at home with partner would soon be delt with!?
She asked why that's what it said nothing about the grandson, I told her obviously sadly he was going to pass, she did not need to know when as nothing could be changed to stop it having that info was useless.
(he died a few days after his second birthday)

So you could ask if a house move will be the right move for you, it could say get to the doctors and have that rash/itch looked at, stuff you need to know see.
Hope this helps
Erm not saying you got a rash or any thing you understand lol

red I get what you're saying. Its like a road that has branches and and branch you take has sub-branches and it goes on and on.

I was in another country when I experienced a deja vu moment. But the flashback felt like I had known about the situation at least 4 years prior to it occurring. The flashback involved a person handing me a magazine on a plane. This was a person I met and interacted with only a few months before I had that opportunity to visit the country.

redphx totaly agree with you there and yes did understand it.
Think chess, every move you make changes the game and every move everyone else makes also changes the game life can't be set, too many changes.

the way it works is this. Your life isn't necessarily planned out but if you will time does not exist. Time itself is made up by humans to keep track, control, and organize. We are very strange OCD type creatures. So since time doesn't really exist the events that happen in the past, present, and future are linear. What you do today will affect what you will do tomorrow. It is already laid out but since we have will it can change and in the blink of an eye your future has changed but you really actually changed your present. If that makes any sense. It is very hard to explain this one where others will understand it.

yea I'm wondering what it means for me also. Sometimes I feel like my life is already planned out and these "visions" are just confirmation of that.

'darkness redphx has some great advice here mate.
Totaly agree with it all one more point I do say that it is not set in stone! If they don't like what they hear then its up to them to change it.
Bit like reds "friend" some might not like what's on the cards but tough you ask you will get told.

Get the deja vu dreams myself I do find that when I start to notice things I have seen before if one tiny thing is off, something said differently I get a huge migrain as though my mind is splitting in two.
I can't help but think of back to future 3 with the time lines splitting, my mind is doing that one side is like ok whatever the other is NO WAY THATS WRONG NOT GOING THERE AT ALL!

Have to try and pull it back to the right line.
Carl

ah yes you have deja vu. I get that a lot. Lately my thing is when I get within three feet of people I start flashing images of houses, cars, furniture, and odor. I asked one stranger if they owned a tan couch and silver car. They said yes. I guess I am picking up impressions from people. Their smell is the strangest though. I can pick up scents like cookies, oils, cleaners, or any other distincitve scent from them but the smell won't phsyically be there. I don't know why this is happening and I can "turn it off" and not think about it. This is very insignificant to me at the moment. I am trying to figure out why I need this ability

in one of the stories I think Lou mentioned that having psychic abilities is something that all of us possess as an untapped resource.

I know this is not a dream interpretation site and its more focused on the paranormal. But I would just like to state this.

I think as soon as I sleep I start to dream, most I would not remember but the others would be very vivid, places I've never visited, people I've never met etc.

What I find is that while I'm having a conversation with someone (doesn't matter if I've never met them before), I would get flash backs that I've already had this conversation. Then objects, like a chair or the writings on a bus or a show on television would suddenly pop into my head and a few seconds later I would see the exact thing. Usually I would trail off in the conversation as I would not be able to concentrate, I would have to use some stalling techniques and gather myself together quickly.

I believe I'm shown the future in my dreams.

redphx - "yeah right" is absolutely right. Once bitten and all that. Most people really don't want to hear the truth even when they say they do. They want what they want.

I've had dreams come true, and have dreams that I found out have happened in the past. I had one recently that I'm hesitant to ask the person involved because he believes this part of my life is demonic. LMCO (the "C" is for 'cheeks' since granny said we can't cuss LOL)

So, we just choose who to share our gifts with and who not to. That's why this forum is so important and I'm so glad to have found it when I did.

People get angry when they don't want to change their behavior. She expected everyone to change for her and she refused to look inside to see that she was the cause of all the mis-fortune in her life at that time. She was really mad that she was constantly getting skipped over for a promotion and she wanted to know why. I don't work with her but my cards said because she isn't very nice to people, she thinks that she knows everthing and that she won't learn. She thinks everyone else is less than her and that they should be basically bowing down to her. That was her attitude. She would yell at people and cuss at them and call them stupid. My cards said she was angry and that she wasn't getting promoted becuase of her attitude. Instead of looking at herself to correct her behavior she blamed it on her boss saying that he hates her and he is an ugly person and that I some how was out to destroy her by saying she was mean. It was a bad scenario all the way around. It comes down to people not being able to take responsibility for their actions and not willing to look at themselves to try and better their life. I actually rarely ever talk to her anymore she is a mean person.

Miracles - I only did it once. I wasn't expecting that reaction since I've known her for many years. I did the reading for her, she got mad and I refuse to do another even though she says she won't react the same way. Yeah right!

as a layman, there are 2 reasons why someone would go to a psychic.

1. To see what the future holds

2. To seek help to circumvent unfavorable outcomes

Why get angry at the psychic when all they're doing is giving you the information you asked for. Instead of getting angry the person should have started preparing for the event that was to occur.

redphx - I've been reading these and not commenting, since I've never done a reading. I've had them done, but never done one myself.

But your last comment made me want to say something. It's kind of like my philosophy: "Don't ask me what I think if you don't want me to tell you the truth." If you friend (s) don't really want to hear what the cards are telling you, they only want to hear what they want to hear, they should find someone else to give them a reading. Pretty sure I'd never do another reading for that friend, if I were you πŸ˜‰

Sorry for butting in 😊

And also be careful when giving someone bad news, especially if they are a close friend. I had one person get really mad at me for telling her what the cards said. Even though they were correct she was mad at me for a few weeks. It was really stupid and some people are just too sensetive for the truth.
redphx (4 stories) (827 posts)

14 years ago (2011-05-11)
My biggest thing is make sure you also understand what your person is looking for during the reading. I've had one person who kept asking the same question over and over hoping each time for a different outcome. Finally I had to "tweak" my results to have them appeal to her. So instead of saying "You will not be moving out of state" I had to say "At this time the path you are on does not direct you to a place where you will be able to move. The future is never set in stone and if you try to better yourself in the areas discussed it is possible you will provide yourself the opportunity to begin a new journey that hopefully will have you end up moving."

Also when doing reading for the future it is always best to give a timeline of some sort. What I do is instead of asking "Will so and so get promoted?" I ask "Will so and so get promoted within the next 6 months?" That will give a more accurate result.

Whatever questions you have we are all here to help:)

first tip darkness get a willing test subject or a few that will let you try on them I always say you can read as much as you like but can't learn anything with out doing it. Don't worry about things going wrong or sounding silly I have had plenty of them readings but it does work out in the end.

Worst one I ever did was 2 flat mates both had their's done told one a friend was using him for all they could get and I advised him to leave this so called friend to his own devices, 3 days later he took my advice. Kicked his flat mate out! Had not been paying rent for 5 months and never did his own shopping just ate what was in the flat.
At first I felt guilty for getting the guy kicked out but they did re build there friendship and it made them closer so it does work in the long run

I have done internet readings. I have some friends in Germany and I use their emotional imprint that I get from their online feel (if that makes any sense at all) I don't even know their real names. Everything that I did for them went very well and I had one future prediction question get fullfilled correctly as the cards said it would.

taz- very cool story and really I like it. I think that is such a neat history, your cards found you.

Rook - a grab and go pouch. I really like that. I normally don't bring my cards out of the house. When I do readings for people I just have them ask me the questions then I go home and read the cards. People don't understand that they don't physically need to be with me. I can use their energy imprint just fine.

Yes when death is drawn people do freak. When I read I don't tell people which cards came out unless they specifically ask. Death is one of the harder ones to get people to understand.

redphx,

No, I have never owned more than one deck at a time... For the very reasons you stated...

And for the record it wasn't me that asked about multiple decks... But taz has a good point... If you keep them in separate boxes and wrapped then I don't think they would interfere with each other.

For the record I keep my cards wrapped in silver silk and in a leather belt pouch...that's right a grab and go pouch... 😁

Respectfully,

Rook

redphx long story but worth it:) when I was 15 I was seeing this girl and it was her stepmum who was the white witch.
One day she did a reading for me and told me I was not right for her stepdaughter and I knew why. All true!
Then she handed me the deck and told me to read her cards, up to this time I had never even seen a tarot card so I told her I had no idea how.

She passed me a old and well read book and said to use it as a guide and to make notes while doing her reading, so I did only the basic 3/4 reading and read what I had coppied from the book.
Then she took the notes and the book and told me to re read the cards, I was nervious but as I looked at the cards I knew that what I had writen was right but not 100% so I said what I felt it was saying.

She smiled at me and told me that I should never ever try to learn the cards but allow them to speak through me and my feelings as what I said the second time was the correct reading.
She then gave me the cards saying they were a gift, the old book was to stay with them until I got a gift that makes a friend laugh then burn the book.

I thanked her but said I was confused by what she said she said don't learn the cards as that would stop my ability to read them corectly and would never be able to give a proper reading only bad ones.

Now jumping 10 years spike came to visit me one day and said he had found something that made him think of me, he gave me a thick book on fortune telling, playing cards, tarot cards, palm reading names, numbers the lot as I was about to thank him when he burst out laughing he could not stop but when finaly did could not say what made him laugh,

I burnt the old book the next day and have always used my new one from spike since 11 years now and I have never given a bad reading yet but I only use book as a guide the only card I have managed to learn is death as people panic when that comes out the others I won't try to learn I know them and they do "speak" through my mind and feelings still

you would be the third person who wraps their cards in purple. My cloth I guess would be condsidered a scarf but I don't know what fabric it is. It is kind of see through. Purple I think is a magical color. I tested many different color fabrics to place them in and purple was the only one that felt good. They have been in that cloth for 10 years.

When you read your cards do you go purely by intuition? I know some people who use the book written by the creator as their bible. They never stray from that book. To me though the cards can read differently than just what the book says. I read the book once and never picked it up again. I go purely by intuition. I guess that must be the bond between the cards and user

redphx I was going to say purple cloth of some kind personaly I got a silk head scarf (purple) that's folded into triangle around the cards. Purple is such a powerful colour to use with cards.
Love the idea of a danger box too πŸ˜‰
Very keep out or else lol

Totaly agree with the idea of not harrassing the spirits if they want to come out they will glad you had a good time finding out what you did any family history is interesting no matter what turns up

Yeah. I will have to see what my deck will like. I have it wrapped in a purple cloth with pentagram moons in sliver and gold all over it. Seems to be pretty happy in there. The box I have is awesome. I keep all my things inside and the box has these really sharp edges. I'm the only one who knows how to open it without getting cut. I didn't mean for it to be so dangerous just ended up that way.

How neat that a white witch gave you some cards. My family were witches from Cornwall. White not all of them I don't think. The hunt went pretty well. I don't really believe in ghost hunting because I feel that they don't want to be harrassed. This was more like Operation Find Grandma. Jerome was the town she came to from Cornwall. Pretty neat history. We were trying to see if we could find any relatives. We didn't find any family but we found some other people who died there. It was really neat.

hi redphx hope the hunt went well,
I love the art work will have to look in to getting my own, mine are well used now and getting bit worn. Was given them years ago by a white witch I knew never was told the deck name though never though to check.
As for your question to rook yes you can have more than one set but advised to keep wrapped like normal but also buy separate boxes for them too don't put next to each other. And look for the boxes not any old thing will do wait until one jumps out and screams buy me you will know it when you find it and for which deck too happy readings.

Lou going to have to team up on this one mate she is a fighter and will need help in cooling her down if she gets going.
Dark blanky to put over head should help, like with birds in a cage put them sleep lol
You know she will prob kill us for this don't you πŸ˜†

sorry I'm just getting back from ghost hunting in Jerome, I didn't bring a computer with me to check on anything.

Rook - wow that is amazing art work. I have always wanted another deck but I didn't know how my current deck would respond. I don't want to lose its reading ability because it is 95% correct most of the time. Do you have multiple decks?

Taz - I'm glad you like the art. My decks personality is very emotional meaning that it points out problems and offers solutions along with the emotional state at the time. It is very helpful deck if someone is looking for therapy LOL

Taz,
Never let go of the tail, she'll turn her tusks on you and run you through. Hold on long enough and she's bound to bust a heel or stick one through the hem of her sundress.

You do paint a purty picture, Miss Javelina... Develop a cigar smoker's cough, an affection for warm cheap beer, and a cold sore on your lip and you will be the complete package.

Lou and taz,
Gosh, it seems a girl can't throw a gutter ball these days without finding herself on the 6 o'clock news on channel YGS.
Do you two have any idea how hard it is to find a cloven hoofed pair of bowling shoes in a size 9? And don't even get me started on the ball! I had to go to four different pro shops before I finally found someone to drill the correct shape hole for me.
After all that, I have you two to contend with? You just keep it up boys and you're going to find one crazy wild hawg nipping at your heels! And considering I just recently had my tusks sharpened, you should probably learn to be more polite. Don't let the high heels fool you, I'm pretty fast.

Awesome, Javelina.

I did not realize they made bowling balls for the cloven-hooved. High heeled bowling shoes and sundresses make the world go round, I guess.

Carl,
I'm really glad to hear that the new residents of this home are so welcoming to the permanent residents. Glad to hear May's intentions are good. Nothing like having a built in backup babysitter, as long as she is friendly to those who care for the kids in Carol and Rob's absense. Don't want babysitters running from the house in Carol's absence.:)

Javelina,
Careful with your comments... Or is it just me who's mind is in the gutter?

Hi taz,
I finally get to start catching up with my reading and commenting tonite. I wanted to read yours first and I'm happy I did. It's good to hear that Bob and Carol are receptive, nothing less will do.
The most important part of the update for me was finding out that May had crossed over and can pass back and forth freely. I remember worrying that she might have feared crossing because of the suicide and the possible ramifications. To hear that all is now settled and everyone is comfortable is wonderful news. And thank you for bringing it.
I love a happy ending!

HI REDPHX thanks for commenting to be honest I doubt may feels the need to help anymore just enjoys it to much.

You know I never asked carrol about the colors of my aura I was too into the house and may next time I will ask her for a proper reading. I am planning on a quick visit some time soon she has an amazing set of tarot cards on display that her gran used need to find out the maker so I can get some for my self the art work is amazing.

What a neat story. May sounds like a gentle spirit. It is interesting how she feels she still needs to help even though she is with her kids in the astral. Very good story, it is one of my favs

I like auras. Mine is all "hot" the lady who read my aura said I was very very old and that I "know" everything. Not in the literal way that I know information and there is nothing I can't learn but that I have done the cycle so many times that I know how things work, how the astral works, and how entites work. I wasn't aware I knew all this:/ All the colors of my aura are hot colors, no blue, green, or anything cool. I'm all reds, organe, yellow in all the shades. It was really neat. She was getting mad at me because when she was telling me certain things I would respond "yeah I know that" She finally barked "I know you do! Just let me finish the reading"

[at] geetha50 thank you for a great comment
Miracles is one of a few I know will read my stories and tell me if there ok or not I think that if she did miss one I would have to hint at her to pop over not saying I don't enjoy getting comments I do that's for sure but if a limit was set on how many could read and comment I would pick her as one
I hope you finished lunch on time 😊

[at] cosmogal926 another commenter I'm always glad to see
Glad you enjoyed the story, and I hope we will be good friends and then I can keep you all up to date on may, and what happens at the house.
I already have a few more in mind hanging back until can post them but they get better and scarier
😲

[at] gizzy thank you that's a very nice comment I'm quite touched by that.
Yes it was very scary for them both even though spike had lived with spirits all his life (see mandys home1,2,3) and when things got worse after they left the house I never expected to be going back and having coffee lol. I hope to have more from them soon summers comming bbq weather πŸ˜†

taz890 as usual a really good story, very well written. Please keep us updated if you hear any more about May. One bit I totaly missed off callum (1) just before abs and spike met she lost twins to miscarage so when callum did come along she was like a woman possessed trying to keep him safe, yes most mothers are like that with newborns but you could sence it with abby like a force sheild so when things started to happen she went into overdrive

taz - I know what that's like, only mine was the other way around. Each time my kids and I moved, and I left a child behind, it was like leaving one of my own. I worried about "what if they (whoever lived there next) didn't see or hear her" or "what if they made her leave" or even worse "what if she's not happy now." That kind of stuff. It's sad.

Totaly agree may will be happy to see callum again she obviously was annoyed when they left not letting anyone else move in, according to carrol may was very attached to all 3 of them with them all being quiet young parents anyway the mothering kicked in big time and it must have been like loosing family for may.
