curiousDevu,

This is a very well told 'story'. I have a couple of questions...

Did you use your cellphones as flashlights or do you literally have a flashlight on your cellphone? I ask because of this comment...

"We switched on the flashlights on our cell phones which filled the interior in an eerie light."

Your friend wore heels? You stated...

"We didn't believe a word of the place being haunted and decided to explore for ourselves.

I stay in a bungalow which is near the abandoned one so we decided to have a sleepover at my place and then sneak out during the night have a look, snap a few pictures and return back." and then this..."it was like the sound made when you walk around in flip-flops, Vidya was wearing heels so she definitely wasn't playing tricks on us."

While I do not have a problem with your friend wearing heels, I do not understand why she would wear them on a 'planed ghost hunt'.

I have to point out a couple of 'natural causes' that should be considered before calling all of this 'paranormal' in nature.

First...The headaches and labored breathing may have been caused by the algae, mildew and/or mold growing inside this abandoned home.

Second...The sound of someone walking up the stairs... If they have not been used in a long time the sound you heard... The 'footsteps' may have been the wood of the steps springing back into place.

Third...The scratches, these may have been caused by the thorns on your way in and during your 'hasty escape'. There is a chance they did not 'tear' your clothes...

Forth...If the home has been abandoned for a long time is it possible that there were vagrants upstairs and this was who you heard 'laugh'?

The trance your friend seemed to be slipping in and out of... That seems a bit harder to explain.

So, there is it, some 'ideas' of what some of the things you experienced may have been... Thank you for sharing this with us.

Respectfully,

Rook

curiousDevu,
First off I just want to say that I love your style of writing. You made me feel as if I was with you as I read through your experiences. Very lively.
The only thing I am worried about here is that you may have jumped to a certain conclusion about the scratches you three received. As you said yourself, on the way in from the gate the thorny bushes had scratched you so badly you were bleeding. I can quite easily see this happening as you all ran from the bungalow, already in fear of what had occurred inside, and simply did not notice being scratched as you ran. Jumping back out of the window may have done a little as well, but most likely you landed in a crouch or bended knee position. This landing and then scurrying away may have been when it happened. You would have had your upper bodies lower to the ground and as you were gaining back the control you needed to get into a good run to get the heck away from there it would be quite easy to get those scratches in the areas they were. But don't misunderstand me here, I believe you had a very real paranormal experience inside that bungalow. There is no question in my mind about what happened inside. You knew there was something up when you first entered the abandoned building. I am hopeful that your friend has had no further memory loss over her trance states from that night. I believe it was quick thinking and resourcefulness that you had remedied that problem right away, before anything could attach itself to her. You should be proud of that, it was a very smart thing to do, and it shows you are able to think on your feet.
Thank you for sharing this experience and I am glad all seems to be well with you three.
