She's new here and English is not her 1st language,she's a little weak in grammar by her own admission. I thought that maybe if her story did not pass the scrutiny, she should have the knowledge of it so that she might revise it using spelling & grammar check before she submits again.

I appreciate that you acknowledge my grandfather's grit. That man put a lot of hardwork in bringing up a family starting from scratch. And I think he loved to sweat it out! I remember seeing him doing odd farm jobs, in his own farmland, upto a ripe old age!

Hi Ari, This was a well-written story, and I love that your grandfather just still flatly refused to believe in the paranormal, even after his experience! I get the impression he was a character! 😉 (I guess I have a fondness for people with what we, around here, would consider "grit"...basically, stubbornness in spite of all odds being against you! There is sometimes beauty in that.

The weird part is not the apparition, but that my grandfather still never became a believer, he never saw anything again, and moreover he was never afraid!

As far as I know, no one in my family believes in paranormal, even after this occurrence. My father in his younger days used to go for night college. Since he lived in a village and in those days it was a very rural area, he had to walk several kilometers to reach home from the railway station at around midnight after each class. Some of the places he walked through remained deserted after dusk as villagers used to quake in mortal fear in their pants, at the mere mention of those spots. Even if one had to pass those 'haunted' stretches due to some emergency, he would gather a few friends for company, but never alone. So many had fainted trying to be brave or for a bet. Yet my father, he never saw a thing.

I have heard stories about "Nishi Daak". The are evil spirits or witches who misguide people and capture their souls. After reading your story I feel your Grandfather was very lucky on having escaped such an incident.

Replying to your query, he never actually talked to anyone about this, according to what my father has told me. So there was neither denial nor acceptance. Whatever the others came to know was from Baidyanath, the acquaintance.
About the existence, all members of my paternal and maternal family always said that there are no such things as ghosts, no offence intended.

You know, the funny thing about all this yelling is that after you've been here a while you get to see the same themes being repeated. And after so many times of seeing all the 'Woman in White' (blue, grey, or red), you get to the point where you can't take it any longer and start making jokes about her out of frustration. The same goes for 'Bloody Mary', Ouija Boards, Hell hounds, the girl from the movie 'The Ring', the kid from the movie 'The Grudge', teenage demon lovers that fantasize about their own personal demon/protector, 3:00 in the morning visits from evil entities, sleep paralysis, etc, etc, etc.
I'm sure you can come up with some as well.
However, when I read about your grandfathers weird encounter, I got to thinking maybe I should really check into some of these. Just as a curiosity and also because I had been making fun of these for so long I thought it only fair, you know? No big project really, just get to it and see what's up.
Remind me never to do that again! 😆 😆 Holy Moly! No more thinking out loud around here or you'll wind up on the suspicious characters list. Just kidding...

I really enjoyed your story and very nicely told. I think some people find it hard to accept he notion that there could be more to life than what we can see touch and feel. Maybe your grandfather was so set in his ways because he had never experienced anything like this before that he couldn't bring himself to admit that he did see something out of the ordinary.

I joined this site to share my experiences and to offer advice to people or at least try to help them understand what they may be experiencing and I hope I have been able to do so.

In the case of the experience you have shared here... It seems it was a genuine paranormal experience and because it happened to your Grandfather, and you requested no aid or advice I chose not to comment... Until 'things' started to get out of hand with some of the comments...

The only thing I want to clear up here is that my 'theories' may seem wild to you and that's just fine. However, what I was saying about the woman in white stories was not theory, I posed questions. That's called curiosity. And curiosity precedes theory.
Also, my 'theories' are referred to as 'running with scissors theories'. That should give you some indication as to how they come about. They may not always pan out, but some of them have not been as 'wild' as you might think. And let's face it, this is the paranormal we're talking about here. You can pretty much put all of our theories on the wild side if you want to be picky about it.
Of course, that's just my opinion. And just like everyone else here, I am allowed to have one.

and to be honest miracles, one respective reply regarding any thought from Jav, would have been equally responded with respect and politeness of one having there own opinion. Yes I approached it in the wrong way perhaps, but she should have read all, and responded in a similar way (in no way was I agressive) and I would have just responded with equal maturity.

You said something very important there. About how your father tried but he never saw anything. I think when someone tries too hard they miss what could have been right before their eyes. Their focus is razor sharp, you know? But how many times have you read about someone's experience here and what they say 9 times out of 10 is that they caught an image right in the corner of their eye/vision? It's how it happens many times. Others have seen them right as they look up from doing something and then they just disappear. There are so many ways to sense a spirit that many times you don't see them as much as you hear them or sense them.
It also reminds me of a couple that has tried for years to have a baby. They try everything but can't seem to get it to happen. Then they finally give up, thinking they will just have to face the fact that they will never have children. Next thing you know, she's pregnant. All they needed to do was not have that be their main focus in life. If you just relax and things will come to you.

My father tried but he never saw any... So he doesn't believe... Although he saw what everybody else saw at a haunted place 😕 confused huh! I intend to publish a story about that too. 😐

My father has walked through that place countless number of times in his teenage and youth, looking for a ghost or the 'ghost'; he has tried it at midnight, well after midnight, late evening, early evening and I know not how many other time of the day, yet he couldn't catch a glimpse. all due respect Jav, but to label all female spirits dressed in white as one in the same is a bit... Well I don't know the word. Hasty on judgement, perhaps (if that's even spelt right lol).
I would like to assume that older generations (of which we might now possibly witness as spirits) may tend to dress in more plain clothes than that of todays society.
White, i'd throw a guess, being the most common colour, possibly more so if the spirit in question can be ''traced'' to a very early date in time

Being a 'paranormal investigator' for a fair while now, i've learnt about a fair few local-ish hauntings, famous or not, of which some I have been lucky enough to be granted investigations within the premises where they are apparantly haunting.
Others simply ''myths or famous legends/sitings'' etc, where there has been numerous ''grey ladies'' etc etc. But each having a different personality of which is believed to be linked to that area.

While this story did send shivers down my spine, and I would not like to argue against it being possible (should it be a actual paranormal event) for the apparant spirit to lure the grandfather away with bad intentions, in my opinion I think it's a bit much to assume that the woman in white is 1 spirit in itself, wherever it be reported.

I only wish to point that out because as I mentioned; like the 'woman in grey' stories (its mostly white and grey from the accounts reported in my experience, but blue and red sometimes too), that I have been made aware of while investigating 'famous haunted locations' or simply someones home that I have visited here in Kent-England, I have also been given the description of women in white, in different places, some of which have as good as been given an identity over the years of someone who used to live there/was murdered there/etc/etc.

Sorry, I mean no disrespect, and I would be just as interested to hear - as you are to find out- if you could find a link between the reports of the woman in white suggesting it being 1 in the same. I just have a big gutt feeling there won't be a link.
I've heard of spirits many times seemingly wanting to be followed, or blatently so, and again while I do not want to discredit the theory of it being harmful for anyone who does follow, I think steps of caution should be taken on such an assumption you made of the woman in white being either the same spirit, or a spirit who always has the same intentions.

Now I too, must apolagize, for probably taking up twice as much space as you did. Lol.

Well done! I like your telling of what your grandfather met up with that night. It seems in just about every culture there exists many sightings of the 'Woman in White'. Also, there seems to be the notion that if followed, she will lead to either great harm or a gruesome death. When you think about how many have seen these women, you know there has to be something to it. It makes me wonder if anyone has ever gathered the many reported experiences from around the world and studied them for their similarities. Is this woman universal? What is her true origin? What other names have been used to describe her? Has anyone ever died following her? If so, how? How far back can she truly be traced? It isn't just men that see her, it's everyone, old and young, male and female. What is her true purpose?
Sorry for taking up so much space, but this is a very fascinating entity. For some reason she has managed to be the most reported, yet least known, spirit on earth. I believe I'll do some research on this myself.
My curiosity is getting the best of me.

I'm gad that your Grandfather had someone to keep him away from the woman he saw. I've heard many superstitions of this variation. Maybe he didn't need to believe:)
