thankz morticia for reading my story... And also sorry for not understandimg my story a little... Actually i'm an indian girl... And here we call every elder or strange person as uncle and aunty as they are not our relatives...

Well, I'm 100% American, and I too have unrelated aunts and uncles, but as Morticia said, friends of the family. As my mother once explained it," old enough you need to show respect, but too close to be Mr, Mrs, or Miss". I think it's just the calling a stranger a family 'name' perse that confuses us. I wonder why that is, that we don't have a friendlier term to greet strangers with? Hmmmmm...

And just as a point of note here on the non related uncle/aunt thing here. I'm an aussie (as some of you know) and have 3 aunts who are NOT related at all. Theyre all family friends who myself and my younger siblings have grown up with and they are considered family 😊 Hence they are our aunts. (gets confusing with one of them as she shares her first name with one of our actual great aunts lol!)

I have friends who have the same situation, uncles and aunts who are no relation whatsoever. So it happens everywhere 😊

Wishfulnull: Don't feel bad LOL. I asked the same question of another poster from India who had referenced an unknown, to them, elderly man in his story as "grandpa". Whereas here in the States a comment like that would get you an umbrella up the tushie or at the very least, upside the head 😆 (unless, of course, they offer corn 😆), in India it is a sign of respect.

Yeah, now that I think about it, we don't really have a respectful name we can call strangers when we're talking about them to others... We should probably try to figure something out, better than "some guy I talked to". 😉.

A 2bhk flat is a 2 bedroom, hall (equivalent to our living room) and Kitchen. 😊

Granny, It IS quite funny. Quite a case of serendipity 😊. Luckily it is a good story and not one that you had to toss.

Maggie, what does congo mean? Obviously a greeting of some sort. Noooo, my kids were actually very good. 😊 Well... Most times lol. What I meant is unless they brought it up first, I didn't tell them if I heard strange sounds or voices, or saw a spirit. I didn't want them to be scared or to put the idea/suggestion of seeing/hearing it into their heads. But when they told me something, I always treated it seriously. And together we would try and find the cause of what they saw. I wanted them to have, what I call, Logical Belief, and not just jump to conclusions or be closed minded. Does that make sense?

Hi Maggie! I am doing very well! I finally got my college degree! Wheeeeeeee! LOL
Eh, grownups will do that. I didn't discuss many experiences with my own kids when they were small because I did not want to scare them, or plant ideas in their heads. On the other hand, I never treated anything they told me as nonsence either.

Hello maggirockz13, welcome to YGS. Really scary experiences indeed. I have always felt that the elders should be more investigative. You are a smart girl and you did come out openly when your mom and dad had similar experiences. But I do not say that the parents or elders should scar the children but definitely they should address these issues, if it recurs, and do a little bit of research or investigation. That would definitely go a long way to find out if the experiences of their children or themselves are paranormal or otherwise.

I am from India but even here, despite the fact that our culture per se believes in paranormal, elders either brand these experiences as bad dream or otherwise would go to some prankster to drive away the entities and waste their money. Instead a little bit of research and attention, if given, in case of such encounters or experiences with maintenance of a journal, would give them adequate information to deal with or to conclude if the encounter is paranormal or otherwise.

This was a good story, and it must have been a frustrating experience to not have your mom believe you, even after she had felt something walking on the bed & on her pillow! The only part that I didn't quite understand (and this is probably not your fault - just the wording or something) - why did your parents say your uncle was an unknown person? He would be your mom or dad's brother, right? I apologize for not understanding that part! I really enjoyed reading this, and agree - you were a really smart kid! Must have been all those horror movies, haha 😆 I'm glad you moved from there, and hope your new place is nice & peaceful. Thank you for sharing this experience, and Best Wishes to you! ❤ 😁

Great story, Meghna! There is actually a school back in Pakistan, where I'm from, and they say that it was built on an old cemetery. The faculty and the students say they've experienced paranormal things like coming to class in the morning and finding all the desks and chairs upside down, when they weren't like that in the first place. I've gotten a case of Taphophilia recently, and when to explore a huge cemetery, about 5 blocks, where I live. The disappointing thing is that it was closed, it closes so early, at 3:30 PM. I felt like jumping the fence, lol, but the cemetery was under surveillance. The graves there are as old as the 1800's! I shall go some other time. Silly thing, when I was a little kid and passed by that cemetery, I would hold my breath so I wouldn't inhale any souls, which is also an Old Wive's Tale, lol. 😁

Sometimes cemeteries have to be moved to accommodate the living. Disturbing the final resting places of so many may upset some of those people.
