Miracles51031- I think the writer saved her mom's phone number in contacts under "mom" so naturally when mother calls it says "mom".😊

I find that super duper creepy. I'm glad that you figured something was wrong, considering I wouldn't. My mom would so something out of the ordinary like that, and I would have gone into the garage (well, it we had one. Lol)
I don't to want to out right say, either way, that what ever called you was good or bad, but I think that it wanted you in the garage for a reason. Weather to find your mom's phone or for something else. I don't like it when ghost try to make you do something like that. But on another note: I loved your story, and I hope to hear more from you.

Interesting. I highly doubt it was malevolent, it sounds friendly to me. My question is, was your Mom at all in the garage that day, or was it moved there?

Miracles, I know on my daughter's cell there's a way to program known numbers so that they'll ring in as "Mom" or a first name. Maybe it depends on the provider if there's this ability?
Larkascending, I was wondering why you hadn't simply called your Mom to find out what she wanted? Of course, then you would have heard it ringing in the garage and would have probably freaked out even more sooner. 😕 I find stuff in the oddest places also. Once I found my keys (which I KNOW I left in my purse) in the fridge! 😆 Another time my shoe was balance on a blade of the ceiling fan. No way can I reach up there without climbing and at the time I lived alone. So unless the cat grew wings and carried it up there - anyway, I find finding your mom's cell on a shelf above her head easy to believe.

larkascending - being used to my "ghostmates" moving things, I won't question your mom's phone being in the garage on a shelf high above her reach.

The question I do have is about your Caller ID. I'm from Ohio, so NC could be different 😕. Our Caller ID shows phone numbers and/or names. But when I call home (and I am "Mom" in our home), it doesn't show "MOM". My cell phone shows my cell number and my name, both first and last.
