Hello:
My deepest condolences on the loss of your furbaby. You are indeed fortunate to have had so much interaction after Zeus' departure. I have also had similar experiences, and find they help us get through our initial pain and grief. I'm sure Zeus knows this and will stick around until he knows that you are all OK. Over the years, he may even pop back around from time to time to visit. I often feel one of mine (that passed several years ago) checking in on us every so often; I believe with family.
I'm sure Zeus is happy and healthy now, and may very well be with your loved ones on the other side. You obviously provided a lot of love and a good life for him, and this is most likely his way of showing you his appreciation, love, and that he misses you as well.
Blessings,
Lynev

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved do Zeus. You may sill get sightings or other signs that he was there. My family has had glimpses of dogs that have passed in our yard. Heck one of them shoewd me what our next dog would look like. We have that dog for almost 8 years now.
But as I write this it is through tears. I found out about 3 months ago that my 6 year old dog Jethro (from the Beverly Hillbillies) has a cancerous tumor on his liver and a small cancerous tumor on his spleen. He is epileptic and a bood test for liver values showed he was very sick. She said he had about 3 to 6 months to live depending on his quality of life. He will not make the 6 month mark as his belly is starting to bloat a sign that his liver has enlarged and I noticed that the lymph glands are enlarged. His demeanor has changed also. He used to be a happy dog getting along with the others except for grumping at the oldest dog once in awhile. Now he will growl at all 3 if they get too close to him when he is getting attention, and even growls at me sometimes and I'm his mama. Sorry this is so long but I'm a mess right now. My other dogs are almost 13,11,&9 so it's hard to know that 3/4 of your furbabies can die in the not too distant future hurts like hell...

Fergie,
I love it that Cleo has already seen Zeus. I wonder if they will become friends. One of my kitties, Amanda, who passed several years ago had always hidden in a bathroom cabinet. We will still find it open from time to time. Our newest cat, Chip, adopted after Amanda passed, will approach that cabinet very slowly when it is open. I have seen him step inside, though. I think they are buds. I am always eternally grateful for my pets. Loved your story. 😁

Hi Hecate0,
Thank you for reading, your comment and condolences.
I agree, fur-kids always help to make a house a home. There was only a short period, when I first married and we didn't have a home of our own, that we didn't have pets. I love all animals, and they seem to sense it.
I have an inkling that our newest addition to the family, Cleo, a Doberman x Rottweiler female, has had an encounter with Zeus. On the second day that we had her, she refused to come into our bedroom. She lay at the door, growling and looking at my side of the bed where Zeus always come for his good-night cuddles. The next day she ran through the room like nothing had happened the previous day - go figure. 😕

Hi Fergie,
What a beautiful story! During my whole life, my pets have always been the the perfect little joys to make home home-ier. Zeus' bond with you and your husband is undeniable. And, as Tweed put it, the dreams are different. I am so glad you have been able to have those reassurances. I am so sorry for your loss (es). Sharing helps and thanks for doing it for us. (sniff sniff) Such a sweet reminder of all of our furry family members... ❤

Hi sheetal, thank you for your commiserations. Zeus was very special to me, and I know he loved me too. Every night he would come to my bedside for a last pat and scratch before he went off to sleep on his bed in the lounge.
I don't think his actual death was so painful, but I think it would have been very distressing for him, and us, if he had bled to death, which would have happened if he had not been euthanized.
Thank you sheetal, for reading and commenting. 😊

Hi Tweed, thank you for your condolences. It was a bitter blow to lose my Zeus at such a young age; he was only +- seven years old.
I understand when you say you heard Mum's dog bark. They each have their own individual bark, which is easily picked up by those closest to them.
Yes, I definitely know the difference between a grieving dream and an encounter dream. I agree, they are completely different. Lol, but try explaining that to someone who doesn't believe in an afterlife.

Thank you Val. Since the episodes in my narrative, we have not heard, or dreamed about Zeus. Strange in a way, or maybe it is because we have adopted a new fur-kid. Not that my love for Zeus will ever diminish - he will always hold a piece of my heart.
Ray planted a pot of nasturtiums on Zeus' grave. I have never in my life seen a plant flourish like that one.

Hi Furgie, I'm so sorry for your loss and glad that Zeus is sticking around.
I completely relate to what you and your husband have experienced. My Mum's dog of 15 years still visits her years later. In fact, growing up, we always kept passed on pets' toys, bowels etc lying around, just as they were. Mum believes this helps pets transition into their new way of being.
Shortly after Mum's dog passed, I was at her place and heard her dog bark in the backyard. Her dog had such a high pitched annoying bark and it was so close to the window it really drove you insane. So I'm sure your husband heard Zeus barking too.
I believe they can find us in dreams. It sounds like wishful thinking, I know, but I think you know what I mean by there's a difference between a grieving dream and an 'encounter dream'. They feel very different. 😊

Oh, Ferg - I am so sorry to hear about Zeus. I remember you speaking (writing?) quite fondly of him in some of your posts. I think it is quite possible that he's 'hanging about' for a bit, just to make sure his 'family' will be ok.

My heart aches for you. You still have a lot of crying mapped out for you. I know it is such a difficult decision, but wouldn't it just be kinder to send Jethro over the Rainbow Bridge sooner, rather than later? If he is so ill, if I were in your place, I would love him enough to let him go.
It must be lovely to have passed pets visit you. This is the first time something like this is happening to me. It is sad, in a way, but also thrilling to know that Zeus loved us enough to stick around for a while.
Thank you for your condolences, I hope I will be around to reciprecate one day. ❤
