Manafon, I'm really sorry this is happening on your experience. It seems to have stunted all other conversation. Funnily enough I was hoping Goggzy would read about this lighthouse and maybe dip into some records he may have access to.

Puff's probably got some Rick Springfield tucked away somewhere for this particular dweeb.
I'm more inclined to blast Sepultura, however.

Jessie--The Hilton Head Rear Range Lighthouse wasn't constructed until after the Civil War in 1880, so Confederate soldiers were never there. This is the stuff I'm talking about. Also, the main question I hoped you would answer is who granted you permission to enter the lighthouse and how was that carried out? When I visited the lighthouse in the 1990s I needed to receive special permission and was escorted to the light. Please let YGS know from whom you received this permission and access. Thanks on advance for answering this question.

Thank you I really don't mind when people are blunt. In fact I think it keeps me in check. I am sorry if I give that impression to you. To answer earlier questions. The mist I saw did scare me, I got the feeling of being very uneasy, as if someone was watching me. I was allowed to see interior of the lighthouse. The scream however I got through a EVP session. I did get it. While investigating I found that the l was always feeling watched. I also heard gun shots which we found out the during the 1850's the light house was used by Confederate Soldiers. I post tonight please feel free to ask any questions you have 😊 I would love to talk about it! -Jessie

Jessie--If you were really hit by a car I am sorry to hear it and hope your injuries aren't too serious. As you write you will be posting the link tonight it seems your injuries aren't life threatening. I have to be honest here and tell you straight out that I am not convinced by your sincerity.

You have not answered any earlier questions put to you and your writing style is very reminiscent of an earlier YGS member named Zeromaru/KentH1123. I sincerely hope I am wrong and would be very interested in the video of your claimed investigation. Posting the footage could instantly settle any doubts. Answering earlier questions would also go a long way to proving your sincerity. My suspicions come from trolls on this site who just come here to waste time. I know my response seems a bit blunt but what's the old adage, "once bitten, twice shy..."

Jessie12--I was looking around on youtube for the footage you said you captured at the old Hilton Head lighthouse but can't find it. You said it would be posted by five PM today (Tuesday). I did find a young woman named Brittany talking about the legend of The Blue Lady but nothing more. Have you posted the video yet?

It was scary. Just so everyone knows my videos go up on youtube tomorrow around 5 pm! When they are up I will be more than happy to share the link!

Also something has been happening to me lately and it really scares me. There is this shadow figure that shows up every night at 4:30am. It likes to turn the TV on and off just to scare me. Last night I woke up to banging noises on the wall. It would knock 3 times and stop... What does this mean?

This question is open to anyone really, with paranormal investigating is there anything specific about the equipment used? Like types of cameras/lenses/microphones etc? I know ghosts can show up on any old camera or microphone. I just wondered if investigators use specified equipment and, if so, how would it work 'better' for capturing ghosties?
I kind of know about digital audio recorders with the automatic trim that capture ghostly sounds but that's about it.

I was on a paranormal 'gear' site about a year ago, a link left by Granny, I think, anyway they had cameras stuffed in fake animals designed to fool/lure ghosts into interacting with them.😆

Okay so I am looking over it, and I found something I haven't seen before. I am going to point it out when I can, but I think I understand now why I am still having dreams of this day

Jessie12--Very cool to hear from you again. I think just about everyone on this site would love to see the footage you have of your investigation of the old lighthouse! I know I do. Looking forward to you posting it here as soon as you can.

Tweed--I thought "Go Rasputin" myself when I read the reports of him sitting up while his corpse was being burned. Not too many dead people (not ghosts, just the vessel) can scare the crap out a crowd of proverbial "angry villagers"!

It certainly is a fine bookend to the life and legend of old Rasputin!

I recorded all night but its crazy... I know I was recording when the scream happened but the only thing I saw was a girl walking around. I did get that on tape. I am looking back on the footage, and then I will show whoever wants to see it! 😊

Just to clarify, family ran a florist business, hence loads of funeral parlour and morgue action when I was a kid.

(Just realised that last comment sounded rather odd lol.)

Holy Cow! I hope that sitting up on fire stuff is true, that would be soo cool! I used to hear stories from the peeps at the funeral parlour about that happening, fascinated me then, still does now. Way to go Rasputin!
My folks used to talk about how he drank tiny amounts of cyanide to build up a tolerance in case he was poisoned, or maybe it was for kicks can't remember. Don't know how true that is either, sounds like urban legend to me but who the heck knows.

Interesting how ONE member can cause such haywire. 😆

Hi Manafon, Firstly, thank you for your wonderfully descriptive narrative. I love the historic background and references. I can just imagine how it freaked you out at the time. I was late to the party, so all the questions I would have asked, have been asked and answered already.

Secondly, wise move to redirect the Rasputin conversation. I thought of moving it, but wasn't too sure if Youdrag would be savvy enough to follow the pointer, being new and all that.
Rasputin is indeed a very interesting man. It seems that he was loved and hated equally, but most of all, feared. He must have been an imposing figure, standing 6ft 2in barefoot. I have a photo of him in my book.

Hi Fergie--I thought I would move the Rasputin conversation off the comments of the other story and over to mine. As far as Rasputin being burned after his death, I have seen several sources mention it. A couple of places online that discuss this include historyinanhour.com, where it is stated, "Following his murder in December 1916, the distraught tsarina, Alexandra, had Rasputin buried on the grounds of Tsarskey Selo, the royal residence, south of Petrograd. In 1917, after the overthrow of the tsar, a number of Petrograd workers removed Rasputin's corpse and burned it in a nearby forest. Alarmingly for the workers, Rasputin's body sat up in the flames causing them to flee in panic. The men had failed to cut the tendons thereby as the corpse heated, the tendons contracted, making the limbs twist and the torso bend at the waist."

Similarly on omolenko.com (which describes his death with a number of elements not regularly reported) that, " (Rasputin's) body was burnt overnight from March 10th to 11th and a symbolic inscription in German was made on a birch tree at that place 'Hier ist derr Hund begraben' (the dog is buried here)." A proper marker was later placed at his burial site.

I am certainly no expert on Rasputin and the book you mention sounds fascinating. He is definitely one of those figures that grabs ones attention though. One time Doctor Who Tom Baker gave a fantastic performance as Rasputin in the sweeping historical film Nicholas And Alexandra from 1971. From the many photographs of the real life Rasputin, Baker (and the make-up artists) really seem to have captured the essence of the man.

I would love to see that video and some more info too. It would seem cool 😜

Tweed--I searched online for "Hilton Head Rear Range Light blue fog video" and came up with the usual suspects. Just lighthouse society info on the light. Thanks for searching around yourself--now you know more about car fog lights 😜!

Of course I hope my skepticism is proved wrong and Jessie posts his footage of the glowing mist for the all the YGS community to view. It kind of strikes me as "too good to be true" but I would love to be proved wrong. Jessie, if your claims are legit, please post them here along with some info of your investigation.

Manafon, after the initial excitement I too felt a little cautious. Oh well.
With all the fog research you've done lately, if legit videos were uploaded anywhere surely you'd have found them.

As a side note just did a brief search using the following combinations; blue fog/mist/glowing/lights and frustratingly a bunch of car fog light results and random nonsense was repeatedly returned.

Tweed--I am very cautiously optimistic about Jessie. I am still waiting to hear back from him. Jessie, if you are reading this, I do have a question for you. Where did you receive permission to obtain access to the lighthouse? As I mention in my account, the lighthouse is closed to the public and to get permission to enter it there are steps that need to be taken. Can you quickly clarify who granted you this permission and how it was carried out?

My initial excitement about your investigation has been tempered a bit and I hope you can fill in a few details of who granted you permission to enter the lighthouse and to carry out a night investigation. The section of Palmetto Dunes Resort where the lighthouse stands is a private residential neighborhood. Answering these questions would go a long way to validating your sincerity. If you do have video of the fog and audio of the scream that would be thrilling!

I did get the mist on camera, and I was allowed inside. The only reason it was unsettling was because with the mist came a scream. Worst sound I ever heard. I would love to tell you more, anything you want to know just ask! 😊

Hi Jessie12--I would really like to hear more about your investigation and what you experienced. Did you capture this mist on video? Did you have access to the interior of the lighthouse or just the surrounding grounds? Your further information would be most appreciated! It is interesting that the fog scared you. I found it a bit unsettling but was also intrigued by it. Looking forward to your response.

I live in South Carolina right now, and I have investigated that light house about a year. It is weird because at the lighthouse had a encounter somewhat like that. Scared me to death. I have been doing my investigating for 2 years now, and that was still the most chilling experience I have ever had!

Seraphina--I wanted to thank you for your flattering comments on my story. It really is great to have a forum as welcoming as YGS to share those unexplained events that invade our lives every now and then.

RedWolf--I was curious if the fog you saw was also emitting light? If the mist you saw where the psychiatric hospital once stood also gave off light it might be another great example of some remaining group energy, which is what I think the fog I witnessed might have been.

I'm with you about Canadian Geese. Here in Illinois the geese population seems incredibly high. If Canada is interested they can take a few thousand from Long Island and Illinois 😁!

Wonder who came up with the egg shaker idea? Imagine trying to get a corporation who develops new inventions to invest in THAT idea. Yeah, our hard earned money at work 😉.

I think it was an unusual natural phenomenom because I saw the same thing at the school that I worked at ar the time. BUT I first saw it where there was an old psychiatric hospital that was shut down but that's a whole story.

Abut 5-6 years ago I read an article in which I don't remember if it was the Candadian or U.S. Government wanted to put the Canadian goose onto the to be watched list or something like that because the populations were declining in Canada. I had to laugh because their populations on
Long Island was so prolific. So prolific in fact that they had to first try hiring Federally Licensed people with trained dogs to chase the birds away from nesting places. Epic fail. Now get this they use special licensed egg shakers to shake freshly laid goose eggs so the baby couldn't develop. 😆 Our tax payers money at work. 😭

Manafon, I got the same impression about the differing behavour of both entities. Like you, I figured some kind of collective or group mass type deal for the fog, and a singular individual for the liquid thing. It's just the colour that seems to be the only parallel. Definitely something to ponder lol.

That is an intriguing thought Tweed! I never thought about the similarities between the two incidents but there do seem to be some parallels. The bluish glow is the main similarity. Of course the spinning/splatting blue thing at the apartment seemed to respond at the speed of thought (for lack of a better term) while the glowing mist seemed calmer and less "in your face", just slowly oozing through the forest.

The plasma-like thing at my old apartment struck me as a possible apparition caught mid-materialization while the lighthouse mist seemed like a "group" type of manifestation. You definitely have me thinking that there is a similar mechanism operating though. The color and even the undulating nature of both are strangely similar. Wish I could call these separate manifestations up to compare and contrast! Very interesting thought Tweed. Hmmmmm.

Manafon, I've been re-reading some of your Incidents At South York Street encounters because I remember there was one heck of a strange glowing blue thing in that place too. Do you think there may be a connection between the blueish fog at the lighthouse and the blue liquid weirdness in your apartment at York Street? It's just that both locations have a rich history and, at the time of both encounters, both locations were relatively undisturbed by lameo modern revamp renovation claptrap and maybe that served as 'right conditions' for paranormal what-have-yous to run amok, bless 'em.

Thanks for your nice words loneybone and yomamma! It was fun spending the night at the lighthouse even though it was a bit creepy. Hope you have a ghost filled stay at the haunted hotel this August loneybone. What hotel is it and what is the nature of the haunting?

I just loved your story thank you so much for sharing. And to be honest I would have loved to camp out that same area as you once did. It really sounds like you guys had so much fun even though you were scared. But I can deal with a few ghost surrounding me. Heck the first weekend in august ill be staying the night for two nights at a hunted hotel.

I really enjoyed reading of this account. Even though I've never seen the lighthouse I could imagine it from your descriptions. Magnificent! I can also see why you would remember this account after so many years. Thank you for sharing.

Hi RedWolf--Thanks for your comments. It is very interesting that you saw a similar fog once! I can imagine the heads of those geese poking up from it. Do you think the fog you saw was paranormal or just an unusual natural phenomenon? I probably would have considered the luminescent fog I witnessed to have been a freak natural occurrence if it was still there when Billy and I fled the woods. However, it was completely gone by that time.

It's funny you bring up that tip about ridding a lawn of Canadien Geese. I live in a condo overlooking a golf course. The Canadien Geese love hanging out there when the course closes for the day. The ground crew have a tough time keeping up with the "gifts" the birds leave 😜. Luckily they love the golf course so much they stay away from the lawns of the condo. If they ever decide to change their habits I will try that grape Kool Aide solution!

I liked your story very much, well written. The way you described the lighthouse I had to go to the web page. It's as beautiful as you say. The whole area is beautiful.

I've seen fog do what your mist did. It was a foggy day but I turned the corner and fog was thicker towards the ground there were geese sitting in field and all you could see was the heads,necks,and top of their backs. It was the freakiest thing to see. But in another field where there were no geese it was almost etheral to see. Tip: if you don't want Canadian Geese on your lawn pouring a little strong grape Cool Aide on the borders of the lawn will keep them away. Pouring some in your lawn will probably be a good idea too

Hi roylynx--Thanks for your comment. The female hitch hiker disappearing in the passenger seat of the car that picks her up is a common ghost story that appears with minor variations in many localities across America (and I imagine in other countries). I remember seeing a piece on a tv show about "real life" hauntings that outlined the type of ghost story you describe that supposedly occurs in a town in South Carolina. I believe that was somewhere in the middle of the state, so far away from Hilton Head Island.

That story involved a girl killed on her way to prom (if I remember correctly) who now appears hitch hiking on dark nights, directs the driver to a house and disappears en route. A variation on this is the famous "Resurrection Mary" story, in which a phantom girl is seen hitch hiking by Resurrection Cemetery in suburban Hillside, Illinois (not too far from where I live) and disappears while being driven to an address she gives to the driver. It's urban folklore that may have an inkling of truth to it somewhere along the line.

Hilton Head Rear Range Lighthouse, wow! It's beautiful! I have heard stories from my friends too about the haunted light house of South Carolina! Thank you for sharing!

Tweed and PunkysMama--Thanks for your nice comments and thoughts. I have to say that being in the middle of deep woods on a rainy night was a bit creepy but Billy and I were filled with excitement and the accompanying adrenaline made camping out more of a thrilling adventure than a fear fueled evening.

Tweed--I do believe that the mist was indeed only circling, or embracing, living things. It is something I have thought about a lot. Your mentioning that aspect really makes me feel that that is what the mist was doing. Picking up energy from the forest and, theoretically, me and Billy!

I should have mentioned it in the story itself but the chirping of birds did resume as Billy and I hiked out of the area. The scream was so loud and sudden I think it startled the birds in the area like a gunshot would. It certainly startled me!

This was a very descriptive account and this made it very nice to read.

I am not sure what I would have done if I was dropped off in the middle of the woods at night filled with old tales of hauntings and I heard a scream like that. Might have messed myself a bit! 😐

The place is really quite breath taking though but I can definitely see how it could be a totally different experience at night with little to no light present. 😭

Manafon, far out! The things that go on in the woods after dark is extremely fascinating. It seems like a big human cliche but there's just something about the woods at night.

The silence after the scream I can relate to. I've been submitting a whole lot of experiences to YGS lately and one of them has the absence of bird calls in an area. No screaming, as far as I know, but definitely a heavy atmosphere. Did the usual sounds return or start up before you left, or did it remain totally silent for the rest of your stay?

That mist is quite something. It would be interesting to know if it only circled living things, or maybe it was merely circling anything. It circled your tent, but maybe it was really circling you guys in the tent. Hard to tell, everything in the woods is alive, or in the case of fallen leaves/branches, has come from a living thing. Hmm now I think of it, maybe all the life in a forest gives paranormal entities strength in some way. Add to that the human history and energy of this area.

That scream eek! AND right when you least expect it, falling asleep, I would have run out of there to! Interesting that it was so loud, ghosties with weird volumes again. That would have been horrible, terrifying, I've no words for it really lol.

Checking out pictures of the lighthouse, it's really gorgeous. Great place to hang out too. Imagining it at night, however, as much as I love all that night time ghostie stuff, I couldn't stomach camping somewhere on a night like that!
