RANDYM--Haa!Haa! The old Budweiser toads! Now if the three toads that used to show up at my back door did that... I probably would've needed a "restorative" brandy.
I'm interested that you've heard your name being spoken inside your head. Do you mind me asking if it was a voice you recognized as someone you knew who had passed? It's interesting because when I heard a voice about a year and a half ago, my wife heard it too. The house was otherwise empty. It didn't feel, "inside my head", but quite like a voice from within the room itself. It was the middle of the night in a basement bedroom of a client's house we were staying at.
Please give more info about the voices you have heard. Particularly if your name was clearly spoken. All my experiences with disembodied voices have been clear but strangely muffled sounding.
Argette--Thanks for your kind words. If you want to ask the question you accidentally deleted again, fire away!

Greeting Manofan,
I always enjoy your writings.
As for the toads, the only thing that came to mind when I read it was
The 3 toads saying "Bud-Wise-Er" in the old Super Bowl commercial.
Sorry
I did want to mention though that it does seem that most occurrences with the paranormal happen when we least expect them and seem to be in that quite relaxed kind of zoned out state. It would of course make sense to be that way. When things are quite and not much background noise and happenings going on. I have heard my name several times in my life. That audio from inside your own head type of thing. I don't doubt for a minute that it has happened at other times but with all the background input we are receiving you just don't notice it.
Please do share more when you can and have a great day
Randy

Manafon, you do tell a good story. My first comment vanished with the slip of a finger, but now that you've responded to KikiGirl, all I will say is that you gave both given me much to think about.

KikiGirl--Thanks for taking the time to write such a sensitive and extremely perceptive analysis of my account. You do indeed seem to have a high degree of "sensitivity to the invisible" and I hope you will share some of your experiences here on YGS at some point.
I agree that I have always been aware of and open to "paranormal" events that have happened around/to me. It is also true that my brother does not like to acknowledge these types of things around him. That said, he has become less reticent talking about possible paranormal incidents in his life than he once was. I would still say, though, that he prefers to neatly sidestep any in depth conversation about paranormal subjects. As you wrote, his ignoring, as much as possible, any interaction with the unseen world has not left him in a considered position to open himself up to such things when they actually transpire.
You have given me food for thought too about the possibility that the door opening was an apparition I couldn't see. I have always felt that that incident, and the drawer flying open, were linked to some type of psychokinetic outburst directly related to my state of mind and puberty. Of course it could have indeed been a spirit making itself known. The part of the island we lived on was once a part of a cotton plantation with slave labor during the antibellum period and we lived quite close to an Indian shell ring that dates back at least 4000 years. So there are other possibilities!
I also enjoyed your alternative thoughts on the breathing sound my brother experienced. All are reasonable but no one else in the house ever heard anything like my brother described. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. All the best to you too.

Hi There, I read your story and I thought it cool and interesting because to some degree, you remind me a bit of myself. Not that I am a boy or I had the exact same paranormal experiences, just that throughout your life you had occurrences here and there and that you had some apparitions that felt like protectors or guides and some activity that you cannot classify in a box. Some things that happen, as unbelievable as it sounds, you will never find on Google or get answers about from people.
Before I comment, I would just like to note that I have a sensitivity to the invisible. I have not been trained into anything like this and I say sensitivity because I cannot say I am 100% medium, just that I have had confirmation in the form of experiences with keen intuition, premonition and gut-sense.
I just want to note something about you and your twin brother;
Clairvoyance and similar gifts are often hereditary and I've found that some family members will be aware of it, undeniably, by their experiences, whilst other family members will have no connectedness to extra sensory perception. And, some family members will simply not acknowledge it although every now and again, they will experience something explainable because they do possess the aptitude.
As folklore goes, as babies all human beings can see into the spiritual world but as we grow older, we lose it. We get told, "nothings there! Stop it, now" or we notice our imaginary friend can't be seen by friends and family and as we do more and more with them, our imaginary friend eventually become invisible to us too.
I feel with you and your brother that you were a person who had the energy/ability at such an accord, that was undeniable to you. You also mention that a lot of activity and seeing ghosts was during your formative years as a very young child. Eventually, you simply noted the door opening but could no longer see the apparition.
I feel that your brother had a sort of link to the unseen world but it was totally different to yours. Also, while he ignored every possibility of an invisible world, it doesn't mean it isn't there. Perhaps the night he experienced the breathing, he had a heightened para-sense but because he has never addressed this, how would he even know what it takes for him to open himself up to these things? You noted that when you were calm and distracted with reading, the para-acitivity found it easier to get your attention / to contact you, whereas he did not put his energy into pursuing what makes him tick (how his gift/s work). Another possibility is that the house had a higher fortitude for paranormal events. Maybe, in this case, the house or apparition had manifested enough energy to grab somebodies attention and did so, promptly.
There is the age-old question of "A haunted house or a haunted person"?
Lastly, on the more common reaction to the story of breathing houses is that some houses do, in fact, breathe. Some houses because of the material used to build them / or style of the house / or the way in which the wind moves through the house, creates a breathing sound. Also, people have found leaky pipes or bad plumbing many times the reason for a house sounding haunted.
I wish you all the best. I too, do not have answers but I still look for them, as well.

I heard my wife's voice simply speak my name once while I was in a "twilight" state of mind. She however was fully asleep and when I told her about it she said she had been dreaming about me.
The other time is much more in depth so allow me to explain.
I found out when I was 40 that I was adopted. I was able to track down
A brother but sadly by the time all of this came to light my birth parents had passed on and I never got to meet them. This is where it gets interesting.
From the group I'm involved with we have learned that those on the other side can hear us if they either choose to listen in or if we call out to them by proper name and they want to listen.
I had been calling out to my real Mother by name for a while, each time telling her I was her son that was taken when I was 2 years old.
One night when I wasn't even thinking about it I was in a half awake, half asleep state when I heard a female voice I had never heard before, and from the moment I heard it I had the feeling it was my real Mother. In fact, she said she was. She told me that the twin daughters I had were beautiful and that she has always been near watching me grow and that she looks forward to the time I could finally meet her. Her voice sounded like pure love and was the most beautiful voice I had ever heard. It had a quality of sound that was above human, if that makes sense. That didn't surprise me, not because she is or could have been my Mother, but it would make sense that when we return to our spirit form all our physical imperfections are gone.
Being in a near sleep state I can't say for certain with 100 percent assurance it was her and not a dream. However, I have been dreaming all my life every night for almost 60 years and this was far far different than anything I had ever felt. My gut instinct tells me it was her.
Hope that answers your question as I didn't mean to gibe such a long response but wanted to answer you a clearly as I could.
Have a great day
Randy
