Fantastic encounter Emmaline... Although disturbing
I have a similar encounter with a youngster 'seeing things'. Years ago I had decided early in my life to flip a house with a friend of mine.
We bought what was an old Victorian house that was a 'steal' and fit our price range... And while renovating it there were many strange occurences but one specifically happened when my friend brought his young cousin over to play one afternoon while we worked.
His cousin must have been the same age as your boy and spent the afternoon in the walled garden playing with toys and such.
On our packing up to leave for the day we all were congregated in the entranceway at the bottom of the main flight of stairs to the house.
At what seemed as an insignificant moment the little boy looked up and started interacting with something that only he could see. He was so 'excited' and said "look... Look... Look at that face".
My friend and I seeing no face asked him to describe what he was seeing. The boy said... "look the face is smiling... He has broken teeth".
Again... Seeing nothing my friend and I quickly became aware of a sense of evil and being engulfed in what was a terrible heaviness.
In earnest we packed up as quickly as we could and left...
And so reading your encounter it has made me think back to that time when a small boy's question made me realize that as wise as I had thought I was... In truth I didn't have all the answers... And still don't.
Thanks for sharing.

Myst ❤ Thank you. You are so kind. You sound like a parent who has gone through some tough things yourself and raised amazing kids. I wish I had better words than thank you. It seems a little inadequate but you have put a huge smile on my face.

Emmaline: "a little partial"? Of course you are- you're his Mom! Another fine young man raised by a strong independent woman- even though you didn't think you were at times.

Hi Rex-T and Val,
I'm sorry that I seem to have creeped everyone right out. To me, it was just survival mode. Nothing is going to touch my child - so I shut down everything but getting out of the situation. I was 1700 miles from family and I could only think of putting one foot in front of the other. Yep, Val two weeks was nerve-wracking. I didn't have much choice. Son is 22 now and I've raised him alone. I think he's turned out okay 😁 But I'm a little partial.
I'm really surprised that everyone has read and commented. And you're all so understanding and compassionate. Thank you. That means the world to me.
Emma ❤

Emma - good Lord, that was one of the creepiest things I've read in awhile. I guess on the plus side, Biter apparently never hurt your son. Not saying his intentions were good, you understand, just that he hadn't. Personally, I'm not sure I would have stayed another two weeks.

Emma, I've been a little bit busy and have only just found the time to reply to your harrowing story.
I agree with everyone's comments (what a great group we have got).
I'm amazed by your strength, getting hit from at least three sides, yet still making it out 'the other side' with your little man, sane and intact. I won't say unchanged, as life's challenges can make us stronger and more forgiving or other things - the choice is ours.
I'm confident you made the right choices and are being rewarded.
Rex-T

Hi Jubeele, ❤
I'm sorry that I gave you the heebee jeebies. I see that you know that names are power. I refuse to use any name for it either. John didn't know that it was there. Maybe he was in denial and had pushed it out of his mind? I'm not sure.
That vile thing had plans. I'm not in contact with John anymore, unfortunately. He had a girlfriend who didn't like us being in touch. He's not around it anymore, don't worry.
My son has no memory of it and to be honest I had buried as deeply as I could. Writing about my Dad and Christmas coming up must have triggered the memory.
Thanks for your good wishes for Thanksgiving ❤

Emma, I glanced through your account yesterday and then realised that twilight had fallen, and shadows were fast gathering. I distinctly felt the chill of evil coming through from your words. Chicken that I am, I decided to wait until the bright light of a sunny day to read through it again.
What a truly horrifying experience for both you and your son! The sinister intent was clear - it's just as well that you left. You will notice that I will not refer to the dark entity by any given name. I don't feel it's a coincidence that your son's description matches the man John encountered. Unless John had earlier let slip a few details to your son?
But the question remains: did John know that he had an unwanted tenant in the basement before you spoke to him? That could be one of the reasons why John had problems getting helpers. If he was aware of it, why didn't he warn you not to let your son near the basement in the first place? Have you had any contact with John since then? I feel quite worried about his wellbeing too - he really needs someone to help cleanse his place and free him of that dark influence.
I trust that your son is now safe and happy. Does he still speak of that time spent there? Hopefully, that is a chapter closed and mercifully forgotten by him.
This is an amazingly good read (as usual). Happy Thanksgiving to all in your part of the world! 😘

Hi RcRuskin and Melda - Battle stations is a good way to put it. I'd run into an entity like that before (yes, I know exactly what it was) because someone left one in my apartment in California. It can be commanded out but I didn't want to go to war with it with a 4 year old in harm's way. It's not in our lives and it's not in John's. The girlfriend was a piece of work. But you never step in between people in a relationship.
Melda, Aw thanks but everything in life is a character builder. I hate to even give that entity a name. That thing wasn't left in the basement. I know religion is not a good topic - I respect all of them by the way. But the biggest A** kicker of all and faith will destroy evil in an instant.
Thanks for your comments. I'm amazed by the kindness on this site. ❤

Emmaline - Wow, you really went round the block with that loser you married. Besides that, having your father taken from you. I don't actually have the words to express how badly I feel for you for what you went through during that stage of your life.
However you got married at the Copper Queen, in Levis, to the love of your life. Good things happened! And did you ever have one very exciting wedding night - entertainment galore 😁
I don't blame you for leaving John's house. No mother worth her salt would ever consider exposing her child to an entity as evil as the one that resided in John's basement. I'm sure he would have understood that.
The good thing about it is that your little boy didn't realise what he was dealing with and fortunately for him, you did.
I wonder whether Biter followed John or remained in the basement to create chaos for other residents? If he stayed behind, hopefully some wise person managed to kick his A$$ out of that house, or perhaps John took some steps to do that himself.
Another interesting experience from you 😊
Regards, Melda

Emmaline, when I read the part about how your son described the other man, the first thing that came to my mind was along the lines of 'red alert. All hands to battle stations.' Yes, children do make things up, but they are usually not such horrid looking things.
I hope this thing is not in your life, and that it is also not in John's life. As an aside, his new girlfriend, maybe now wife, seems like a jealous sort and that does not usually work out for good, but for entirely not ghostly reasons.

Hi Lady-Glow, sorry if I spooked you! I had pushed it out of my mind for a long time. There was just so much going on right then. I think what brought it back is Christmas being around the corner. I always try to give a little bit of background to anything I write for context.
John had no idea that thing was around him. Looking back, I wonder if that's why he didn't have a relationship work out and why he had constant health problems. He had the house blessed and he sold it within a year.
We stayed in touch for a couple of years but he wound up with a girl who didn't like the idea of him having a female friend. I can understand that completely. I think of him often though, and I hope that he's doing okay.
Thanks for your comment, Lady-Glow ❤ You always give me good points that I think about. Wondering if I could have done more, if I should have stayed. I don't really have any answers.

Yikes! Emmaline, this story gave me the shivers.
Was John aware of Biter's presence in his place? It would be horrible to know that the one to blame for his accident had been staying in his house for all those years, perhaps feeding on his energy.
I'm sorry for all the bad things going on at that moment in your life, it was very nice of you to help John, but it is easy to understand the reasons to get out of there.
Do you still keep in touch with John? I hope Biter is out of his life for good.
Thanks for sharing.
