Hello Jubeele,
She did indicate danger from the electric power!
I just got a kick out of the red hot burners, and the running water in the bathroom. She must have read the same books as I, for I knew even then, that was a common for ghost activity.
She was our only resident ghost, although we did have a pop up now and again.
I once gave thought to glass making as a career, the ladies and other glass items are my memories. What I did not like was the hot working environment. There is a satisfaction in blending colors and balance, creating a thing of beauty. The down side is your hair gets very dry and brittle! Thank goodness for the face shield.
Take care,
Jan

Hi Valkricry,
Thank you, (blush) ❤
Time is kind as the years erase the tension and sore muscles. I do recall that for months, no nice rides, no McDonalds and no visits with friends or family. Work was the only priority.
My little glass ladies, a wonderful collection and connection also to the past. I still have all but two, during that time she would hide them during the night, to be found over time. The one she helped me break and the other is so well hidden, I have never found any trace of it.
We have learned over time the wiring was done very badly. Recently we did a kitchen update, nice granite shelfing and a refurbishing to all the wood cabinets. We hired an electrician, to place a set of five decorated lights over our kitchen table.
Also other improvements with electricity. Our man went into a long song and dance as to why some of the things I requested could not be done. He explained that if you remove the wallboard and were to see all the crisscrossed wiring, you would understand. This house, built in the 60s, was typical, of when fusing was used, linking two or three rooms to the same fuse. We do not have fuses anymore as our box was updated, but who can get to the crisscrossed wires. I think she was trying to send us a message too.
Thank you, ❤

Hello Lady-glow,
Thank you for posting, money was hard to come by for this women and her family. Over time, the neighbors told us many details, but were steadfast on her kindness and sweet personality.
She, at one time had taken a Granddaughter to raise, and the Son, I mentioned was a disabled vet, that died the same year we had moved in, just one year after her.
In my notes I mention how tight we needed to be with the salary we had, paid monthly. Fortunately, my Dad was able to help. I began working and then we made improvements, that really made a difference.
I remember being frustrated with all the door casings, she decorated much through the holidays, and that was nice, but we could not understand why she had to use two inch nails all the way around the door casings.
Those two inch nails were found everywhere. We joked about the family hitting a really big two inch nail sale. They were in the walls of closets, instead of hooks. In replacing things we would find floor molding, yep, held by two inch nails. Sadly money governed what they had done in building, and remember, most of this was built by the Sons, not by professionals.
Lady-glow, thank you for your kind words, this event was one I wrote carefully. Should a family member come across it, my intentions are not to bring back pain, but to speak of her caring and doing her best to hold all she loved, close.
We also laughed as the wallboard, was so filled in and repaired, we called it patchboard. Eventually each room was completed, I made it personal by hand painting a small spray of forgetmenots, eventually, I added a painted frame, so wall colors could be changed.
Take care,
Jan

Oh,Jan, such a beautiful story to read on a dull, overcast morning.
I'm sorry about your dancing girls. I know what it's like to loose the physical part of a fond memory, and they sound gorgeous!
I tend to lean towards the burners as being a warning of some sort. If you think about it, burners=fire. Then the socket incident you mention in comments, "Fire hazard", just days later! 😳 Perhaps, more of a blessing than you think.

Hi msforgetmenott, it does seem likely that the incident with the burners was a warning of potential danger. Maybe she was a really worried about it, hence the dramatic statement. A shame about the glass dancing girls though. But I'm glad she's now at peace.
Someone else also wrote about receiving a warning from their extra resident. With her, it was the boiler in her house:

msforgetmenott - it takes a great talent to write such a fascinating story out of such terrifying events!
I wonder if the lady had been considering to fix and upgrade her house before her passing, hence staying at this plane just long enough to ensure everything was done.
If only she had made her wishes known in a not so drastic fashion!
It seems like she had found peace at the time of her last visit.
Thanks for sharing.
Best regards to you.👋

Hi Manafon,
My Husband really learned what I had been saying about the home was true, he knew I would never do that. I thought afterwards that the stove was a message.
Only days later, I was cleaning, I sprayed cleaner on the kitchen wall. Apparently she was sending a message then too, as shortly after that, a bolt of electricity flew from the wall socket, throwing me to the floor. This prompted our friend the electrician, to pay a visit. As he changed and improved the socket he then asked to see other sockets. Most of them were just as bad, and the electrician declared the house was a fire hazard. Needless to say he repaired all that needed it.
Perhaps she had to send messages to these new home owners, like she did, to get her home improved a little faster.
Thank you Manafon, my best to you.

Hi Miracles,
I held onto this event, having written a much longer detailed print in 2015.
This Woman's family (4th Son) lives less than a mile from here. I worried that somehow they would see this on line and be angry with me.
I think she lingered as she loved that home so much. You may be correct as she did display a high and low personality.
I am happy you enjoyed it,
Jan ❤

Msforgetmenott - I could really visualize everything in this account. I wonder if the spirit of the woman turned all the burners on in a desperate attempt to make it clear, in no uncertain terms, that she was still there. As you suggested, maybe there is a period of adjustment transitioning from the flesh to the spirit, especially when the death was so brutal. Perhaps like a living person, a spirit can have a panic attack of sorts when it becomes clear that they are no longer flesh and blood. Turning on the burners might have been something of an act of desperation, an angry act focused solely on their predicament and an equally desperate attempt to prove that they still exist like the new people occupying her one time home.
It definitely seems that her waving to you and turning to walk away into the woods was to bid you and her time here farewell. The gentleness of the act does suggest that she didn't ever mean your family harm. It does seem that some of her acts were carried out from a growing sense of frustration before she finally accepted her fate. Wonderful narrative. Thanks for sharing.

msforgetmenott - this was a sad, yet beautiful, story and I'm glad you had enough notes to help your memory when putting this in writing.
I wonder if, as time goes on, ghosts' personalities change as they would have if they were still living. You know, the older some people get the grouchier they get. I hate to think she was trying to harm your family by turning on your burners 😢
Thank you for sharing this with us

I would like to read over some more of your notes from the time as I'm working on a story about someone remodeling a house and the ghost expressing opinions on the situation.
