Michael, I see both my comments and yours have been down voted. Welcome to the wonderful world of YGS trolls. The tiniest of puds who find the tiniest of thrills in a minuscule arrow pointing south. Yawn.

Hi again Michael - I was able to find the photo online and can see that the window is partially open. The "face" that appears in the upper left hand corner reminds me a bit of a stereotypical alien "grey". It almost looks like it could be a plastic mask. It's definitely intriguing and could very well be paranormal but without having explored the room in question any prosaic explanations can't be discounted.
I'm sure the place was creepy and hearing a loud sound and then seeing the photo would only add to the unsettling vibe you felt. Maybe the place is haunted by a prior resident or a visiting alien. Then again it might have been a squatter. I'm sure others here on YGS will have some interesting opinions to add.

Thanks for your feedback.
I've sent the window pic and other pictures of the house to the site so hopefully they get uploaded at the administrator's discretion. However, you can actually see the picture on google images. Just type in 'Crosbie Towers Haunted', or something similar.
The face isn't seen through the glass. The window is actually part-open and the 'thing' appears in that open space. And, as I say, it didn't appear in other photos at the time so it is definitely not a distortion or part of the window. I remember that distinctly. I probably should have kept another photo of the window without the face to show the difference.
Whilst I obviously cannot discount your suggestion that a homeless person was responsible, or someone camping out in the house, it just doesn't seem in keeping with all that we saw and experienced there. Fair enough, if it was just the bang, but the face just looks weird, not even pinkish.

Hi Michael - I enjoyed reading your narrative. It struck me that you might be thinking about one important aspect of your visits the wrong way around. You wrote, "I still find it unlikely that another living person could have been in that house at exactly the same time as us on multiple nights AND been responsible for the crash on the staircase and the face in the window". If a homeless person was squatting there, there would be a good chance that they would be there in the evening to sleep. Your visits would just coincide with the regular nightly routine of whoever had taken up residence there.
As you never explored the upper floors you can't rule out the possibility that one or more people were occupying the place. Glass can distort a face looking out through it, so that could explain why the face you say you captured in the window doesn't look human. It could also just be a reflection that vaguely resembles a face that you are assuming is one. It would be helpful if you could download the photo somewhere for everyone on YGS to look at.
Crosbie Towers sounds like a fascinating location but as you only explored a small part of the building there is no way to conclude that what you heard and, possibly captured in a photo, wasn't a living person or persons. Maybe this is a consideration that can bring you some comfort. Thanks for sharing.
