Hello Kecoughtan. Thank you for a well written and interesting story. Your experience does have that"beautiful, tragic ladies in white" quaility to it but has that believable quality too. I saw on the "tail-end" of a show on Discovery Channel about the human body. It talked on how people see or use their vision. They said that a person is "programed" to see. That your eyes only take in like ten percent of the world around you and your brain fills in the rest from it's "database".The point I'm trying to make is if they are right, that maybe people like us who "see spooks" are maybe using a higher percentage of our vision and our brain can't fill in the rest in a rational manner, hence paranormal sightings. Just a thought. Take care and I'm looking forward to your next installment.

Oh, I would have surely loved to be part of that team of yours Kecoughtan but I guess an English Lit teacher would not come in handy. I knew I should have become an archaeologist. Too late 😢 😊

Thank you for your beautiful story! You were in an area so rich in history and tradition, I have no doubt of your encounter. It is possible, from the way you describe the lady and her purposeful manner, you witnessed a residual haunting. Although you state that no one else saw the apparition or noticed the occurance, it is possible that you were able to do so becuase you had the sensitivity at that point to see and experience.

God Bless!

Kecoughtan,
Nice read. Thank you. I appreciate your comment too. It is so important to allow those who have gone before us to know that we mean no disrespect, of course, that only works if it is true. Great to leave the gifts also. The tobacco and alcohol are nice touches. So are beads, pretty stones and feathers.
Thank you.

Thank you for taking time to read what is a long account and for your kind words, rhodes68. Despite all the clinical depictions in the popular media, you may be amused to know that almost everyone I work with in my occupation believes in spirits. Last night I had supper with three colleagues. Each excavates in an entirely different cultural region (Peru, Mongolia, and Jordan). We had a facinating discussion about inexplicable things that have happened during excvation. My friend in Jordan became sick, disoriented, and lost all sense of balance after hastily excavating human remains. She attributes her illness to her lack of respect for the individuals and the power of this shamanistic site. I may try to balance science and the paranormal, but when I excavate a site, I always make a point of telling the spirits why we are there, what we are doing, and I ask their permission to continue. When we finish, I leave a gift of tobacco and alcohol.

Hello Kecoughtan (I hope I have spelled that correctly). Thank you for an intriguing account and an even more captivating narration. I must be honest, I checked your profile only to have my "suspicion" concerning your occupation confirmed. 😊. I must say, it is a challenge to try to balance the scientific and thus, sceptical approach with the acceptance of a realm that goes beyond one's senses and logic. And for that, I will be anticipating your next instalment!

Thank you Tammy
