Terryberry, I guess I was just looking for some thrills and I didn't expect much of the board even hearing a lot of things about it

Whoo Hoo! Another person who loves to fly by the seat of their pants. Excitement seekers, warning dodgers and challengers seem to be my best friends!
I am not going to sit here and tell you how stupid it is to mess with an Ouija. There are many things that I do on a normal basis that seem to be just as dangerous, or close to it, so who am I to tell you it was dumb, especially after the warning label was already read by you?
Ouija boards are like tattoo's, once you have the first experience, it would appear that it can become addicting and you want another. Just as in an Ouija experience, once you make a confirmed contact, you do want to try it again. (I used the word "you" but I was generalizing)
I DO have two questions for you, though. After the confirmation that what ever was communicating you through the board with the phone call concerning your boyfriend, why did you NOT think you were conversing with a ghost? What made you both decide to issue forth the challenge that you did?
And, when your Dad came in ticked about the missing basketball goal, did you ask that it be returned?
I mean, you saw that it could REMOVE it, did you NOT want to see if it was powerful enough to return it? It just sounded as if you wanted proof of it's power, (by asking it to "hide or lose something...") and you got just what you asked for.

Ok I am not trying to instigate an arugment here, this is a serious question. If you had heard of all the evil things that could happen if you used an ouijia board, why would you even both to get one? What were you thinking it was a joke or something?

I'm not saying I doubt your word, only your conclusion based on what happened.

A mischievous spirit who steals basket ball goals is something to laugh at, not fear.

That's not to say I encourage the use of ouija boards. But from your hilarious account I don't believe you have good reason to come to the conclusion that ouija boards are dangerous.

After all, of all the things you are familiar with, the spirit chose to do away with something inanimate. Just imagine what it could have taken within the parameters you gave it...

Well, I'm happy you finally got the message and thank God you were not badly hurt.

In the beginning of the story, you said that knowing these boards could bring forth terrible things, you thought it would be exciting to give it a try. You're obviously looking for thrill, like I do too on countless occasions in my life. Don't take this the wrong way but try extreme sports; it has worked for me. Try climbing, scuba-diving,parachuting,horse-back riding, fencing (the last two are not extreme sports. I just included them because they're my favourite ones)...not ouija boards!

So the moral of this story is... Don't play with ouija boards or you might lose your basket ball goals...

I do hope you have learned your lesson in messing with the Quija Board! It is extremely dangerous! Young kids do this crap out of curiosity and boredom and because they are very impressionable! Usually things, evil things, get stirred up that are better left alone! I would say that you got lucky in that nothing worse happened out of it! You really need to convince your friend to get rid of it but do not burn it! Just dispose of it! Frawin and some of the other more knowledgeable people on here can probably give you further advice on exactly how to dispose of it properly. I had a friend when I was young that messed with one and later passed away at a young age. I do not know for sure that her death was related to that necessarily, but, her death is one thing that she questioned the board. She asked it when and where she would die. It told her in Florida, water skiing at the age of 29. She passed away in a private plane crash on her way home from Florida at the age of 13! I never messed with one! This scared me way too much to even think about it!
