wow the same stuff has been happening to me and it was after I used the ouiji board the first time was when I was at a hotel with my mom and I started to go to sleep and then it felt like the covers started to come off and I felt pressure on my stomach I couldn't move or talk then it felt like someone was grabbing my shirt picking me up and slamming me on the bed the second time it happenned at my brothers I just could not move or talk but I got out of it then when I stayed at my friends house I could not move or talk again and the I herd a faded scream and it started to get louder and louder and louder it was a evil scream I can tell and it felt like my mouth was being streched open that was crazy when that happened I prayed for the holy ghost and it all of a sundenly stoped thank you god but a few weeks later it happenend again I felt like I could not move and I herd my friend snore a little so I knew I was awake and I had a bad feeling I tried to tell my friend to wake me but I could not speak then I saw this black hooded figure at the end of the hall way and it flashed and got closer everytime it moved it was like a flash but not lights flashing just it appearing closer and closer then it got right next to me and looked down at me and I finally got out of it and I have a bad feeling it will be back I'm not scared but interested in it when it happens I feel affraid but I just want to know what it wants

So this is the thing,, I have had pretty much the same experiences. I have never seen or heard like others claimed, I have also never felt a heaviness on my chest, it is just there and not allowing me to move, and I do have the distinct knowledge that it is evil in some sense, now this has happened to me at different phases of my life, I have taken sleep medications before, and it has happened during those times too, but also more than enough times when I had no mind altering substance in my body. This is not a weekly or even yearly experience, it has happened at such different times in my life that there is no pinpointing this to depression or stress, this is not something I have really shared lest friends or family think I am losing it, (what ever it is?) also I am not a religous person or even very spiritual, I am astutely aware of different beliefs of how to stop this, and whether they have actually worked or not I am not aware, because as I have stated before there is no pattern to these (attacks). My mother is a very if I don't see it it must be bullshiat type of person,, but she also has some very strong beliefs in her spirtual self, she is one I told when it first happened, she to my surprise did not say you were dreaming or what have you been smoking, she gave me a rosary and had me hang it above my bed, again whether this has helped or not I will never know, my last incident was aproximately 4 to 5 mnths ago, my first was years ago, again I just find it very disturbing and why me...

Your girlfriend might be playing games with you spritually speaking, have a heart to heart with her and find out what she is thinking. She might be playing around spritually with things that are effecting you, like allowing spirits in the home. Calling them, attracting them. You need to tell her to push them out for the sake of sanity, and your happiness together.

I have had the same experiences as you decribed in your post since I was in ST6 (Grade 8). I felt helpless, no one would really listen or help me. What do I know at that age?
I have seen the Black Figure standing watch over me. It was breathing so load as if it was having some kind of asthma attack. I was paralyzed for a few second, then forced myself out of it to shout to my mother to come to my rescue. I can vaguely remember that it had red eyes as well. After that night I felt as if something came to visit my bedside each night, stare at me for a few seconds and then run away, I could hear the swooshing noise of when someone walks on a carpet. I also had uncountable encounters of paralyzed states after that night. I linked this black figure to those feelings of when you wake up in your sleep, sometimes your eyes are open, sometimes they're closed, I could look around in my room, but couldn't move. It still freaks me out thinking back. The only thing that helped this from happening or these unwanted visits was to PRAY to GOD to save you from these fowl things. I have spoken to priests who have confirmed that they are demons. They are trying to break you. They want to crack you down until you feel there is no hope. So my advice is... Learn the Holy Father by heart and mean it when you say it... You belong to God, no one has the right to take that away from you. Bless you all.

Sorry if it was already mentioned in above replies, there's just too many to read through, and I wanted to put my 2 cents in.
It could be that you were experiencing an out of body experience. The sensation of a prescense above you very well could have been your own self. The paralysis can tie in too with that, seeing at at that time some of your "essence" (for a lack of a better word) was apart from your physical body. Furthermore, it is said by many people who experience oobe's that during the process, "vibrations" can be felt, as if you are being shaken by someone*
Perhaps this is what you've experienced.

Having the house blessed may e an option if the church agrees to help, another possability is have your house smudged. Psychics or practitioners of native spiritualism will usually know of someone who is familiar with the practice.
It is possable that it is your subconscious, but it is also possable that it is your girlfriends subconscious projecting something, or attracting something. Thanks for trying to organize your thoughts enough to try and communicate, sorry it didn't work.

Hi guys, its been a couple weeks since I logged in. Things around the house are pretty crazy. I'd like to thank you all for giving your advice.
I do, however, would like to state that, I have NEVER seen anything when this experience occurs. Like I said in my story-post, its a feeling that someone is standing over me. I don't hear anything, I can't move, I can't open my eyes, all I can do is shake/tremor uncontrollably from anywhere for 10 secs. To maybe a bit over a minute. This was not my friend who passed on. He wouldn't try to harm me.
This has happened to me now since the last post about 3-4 times. I can't control my thoughts, I can't make random "hello?" questions, or anything. All I can do is be terrified. I know it sounds like I am a complete sissy. I'm not really scared of anything in this world other than sharks, and spiders, lol. This episode, or whatever it may be called, is completely terrifying. Thats the only way I can describe is, is shear terror.
Another thing I have been noticing lately, is random spots in my basement (furnished, and where I sleep, my tv is, etc) is I randomly get chills. It seems to be in the same spots usually, until I stay in that spot for a longer period of time. Then it goes away. But once I return to that spot later in the day, or evening, I get the same chills, for example by laundry room. I don't know if it sounds silly, but I can almost like, SENSE something watching me, or something, its creepy. Same in my bathroom shower area. When I shower, I'm just waiting for something to be staring me in my face when I open my eyes from washing my face.
I don't walk the house spooked though. I'm not scared of my surroundings. My house is nice, and its not a pile of garbage either. Nothing is unfinished. I do however have a lot of stress in my house due to being a step-parent to 3 children that are not mine. Like I said in the beginning, life has been pretty crazy lately. I don't know if that could be an opening for something, or what?
Another thing, is... Is it possible, since my g/f can communicate (or whatever she does), that she could be opening up something in her sleep? She sleeps right next to me, and when this instance occurs to me, she is completely asleep. It's only after I come out of whatever I am in, do I wake her, and tell her "omg, it just happened again". She is still blowing this off as something minimal. I wish, in a sense that it would happen to her, so she can feel what I'm going through.
I ask her not to channel, or whatever she does around me, and she says she hasnt done it since my friend Johnny came through last.
Could this be my subconcious? I'm really trying to analyze everything I hear, and read, but nothing seems to make sense, like the tremors/shaking, that there tends to throw the whole sleep paralysis hypothesis off for me. I was baptised catholic as a child, but not very religious. Although, I do have to say, after the last few times of this happening to me, I have been praying to myself at night while I lay in bed waiting to fall asleep. It really DOES help to calm me down. Theres been a few nights, where I actually woke up saying, "The Our Father" prayer in my sleep. I pray constantly since these episodes. Anyways, I just wanted to add another 2 bits of info/thoughts. I appreciate all of your comments, and I will definately keep you posted.
I'm thinking about having a priest come in, and just bless the house. Maybe that would just give me piece of mind? I oont know. Thanks again everyone. =) ❤

Rebel, cheers mate. I look forward to reading your story.
Motherpann, I mentioned in a previous comment on this story that I have experienced an alien abduction during an episode of sleep paralysis.
I woke up, found I couldn't move and saw a being standing over me (I also heard various things if you care to read that comment). It's face bore the classic resemblance of an alien grey. Not only that, but I felt the sensation of floating and the rest of my room sort of disapeared.
I know for certain that this was sleep paralysis however, as I was able to snap out of it to find myself back in bed. But I can well imagine that some people could easily mistake a similar experience as an actual alien abduction.
That of course isn't to say that every single alien abduction story can be explained this way. Many are something else entirely.

I know what you mean using the excuse of sleep paralysis to explain happenings, just the other night I was watching UFO Encounters on TV and one of the "experts" tried to explain alien encounters where people can't move, and see beings standing around the bed as a classic case of sleep paralysis instead of believing that these encounters could be real. And then you read a lot of these ghost stories, where people wake up paralyzed and see beings around the bed, and it seems funny on how some blame ghosts and others blame aliens 🤔

ehunt...besides the fact that you have overwhelming spelling errors, I don't think you read the story very well. He never said it was even possibly his friend doing it. I know because I just reread it. Please make sure you understand the story and CHECK YOUR SPELLING before you post a comment to keep confusion down. Thanks

JPing...you were actually one of the ones that I was saying I respected for giving other advice other than SP. I totally agree with what you are saying. And yes I have had muscle spasms and such which usually occur when I am about to go to sleep or laying in bed. I was just saying it also came in occurance with the episode. Which I myself don't know enough about SP to say it wasn't just because he had tremors. I just have never seen that as a symptom of SP before. Paralysis refers to the fact that you can't move, and that includes voluntary and involuntary actions. So I just wanted to throw that in there.
But to answer your question, yes I can only base my advice on my experience or my opinions. It might or might not help, but at least it can be helpful. A false diagnosis offers nothing but confusion, which is why I suggested offering other advice along with dianosi to people like you did. And my story is now posted. The title is "Dark Figure Watches Over Me". You can read more there. I still need help with what I have experience but just like in Narcotics Anonymous, we can only help ourselves by sharing our experiences and listening to others. Good luck Agk and God bless. Please let us know if it happens again.

only when you wake up you feel this fear? Do you ever feel like something else is in your house with you besides when you wake up? The fear you could be facing cold be from your sleep paralysis because when you wake up and can't move people do get scared, it will take a while, but you will be able to move in the end. Do you really think it is a malevolent force? If it really was your fried why would they try to scare you. Next time it happens try to calm down and see what happens, I know it probably will be hard but just try.

It couldn't hurt to look into scientific explanations of sleep paralysis and see if it "jives" with your experience. Who knows?

ChrisB, filming such an experience would be extremely helpful. Unfortunately however, both sleep paralysis and (more so) supernatural encounters are rare. So unless someone's willing to waste a lot of film, battery, time and effort... I can't see it happening.

As I see that some are explaining there thoeories I just came to a conclussion on what Rebel and Jping are saying. They are both right 😁!I honestly agree with both of you. It could either be sleep paralysis or it can be a ghost visting. Well its hard for us to say since we are not the ones haveing this happen to us. I would suggest to AGK that it would hurt if she tried recording this. Then you would see for yourself what is going on. If you see a spirirt orb or whatever then you will know. If not then its possible that you had sleep paralysis. Thanks for posting this story. I realy enjoyed reading it. I hope to hear from you soon and take care

Rebel, that's fair enough. Offer explanation (acusation?) with advice. Perhaps too few people do that.
Which is why I advised agk to try and control his/her next episode (see my first comment).
I too have never heard of shivering or temors to be a part of sleep paralysis, but like you, I'm no expert. I do know however that involuntary muscle spasms happen when awake or asleep so I see no reason to draw attention to it as indicative of something supernatural.
If on the off chance you are right in your belief that there is a possibility that agk's experience truly was something otherwordly, I'm curious as to what your advice would be. If, like me, you would base your advise on personal experience then I am also curious as to how you reacted to your encounter with your dark figure. Did you post that story?

excuse the part about the actions and what not. I was getting confused about another story. I still stand by what I said. I just never heard of tremors/shivering being a part of sleep paralysis. And I may be terribly wrong. I don't intend to argue this though, because I am well aware that it could be SP.

Jping...I never said it WASN'T sleep paralysis. I just wish people wouldn't throw it around so much without offering other advice. I understand skepticism and all that. And it wasn't just what he saw that was relatable to my story, it was the way he described their actions also. I really don't disagree with anyone. I just hate that people always jump on it like that without offering any other real advice.
But like I said, I don't know much about the supernatural or sleep paralysis. I just know that people throw it around too much. Offer some REAL advice along with your acusations is all I am saying.

Hi Al, this has happened to me before. In fact the reason I found this site and joined was because it happened to me again today! Exactly what you described, less the sense of an entity nearby. Here's my experience. Initially I was always very scared, which I think lended itself to the feeling of something nearby. Like a heightened sense of paranoia. After a couple more occasions, I stopped being scared. Until I finally decided to take action in this state. A couple years ago upon waking up like this I decided to send out a simple thought question. Just a "Hello?". Well VERY MUCH to my suprise I received a quick response, which came in the form of the most evil voice I had ever heard. Very clearly and loudly something in almost a growl, droning verrrryyy low frequency type voice said "There is evil with you..." Well needless to say I'm still suprised to this day I woke up with dry underpants lol 😢 This was one of the most frightening experiences I've ever had. I know people are probably thinking I'm a whacko or I need help! I'm as normal (or at least I think lol) as they come! I'm 24, I don't do any drugs, I don't drink, I have an incredible home life and a great job! And I will swear on anything you give me, this really happened to me! Anyway, if you get this far, thanks for reading!

Rebel, the problem isn't people throwing around sleep paralysis too much, the problem is too few people understanding what sleep paralysis is and mistaking it for a supernatural encounter.
I am yet to read one story on this site (involving being paralysed in bed) where sleep paralysis hasn't been the obvious culprit.
You mentioned in 'Four Dark Figures' that you had a very similar encounter to the author involving a dark figure observing you. The only difference you say was that you were completely awake at the time, unlike the author of the story. This seemed to be the basis of your belief that the author's encounter was something more than a mere sleep paralysis episode.
I dissagree. The fact that you were fully awake at the time and that the author clearly wasn't means that your separate encounters can't really be fairly compared.
The only real similarity between your stories is that they both involve some dark figure. This may be news for you, but a 'dark figure' is a very common supernatural encounter.
There are far more similarities between story and one of mine 'dark figure with a red eye', please look it up if you really need help with what you saw (that's not to say it will help).
I think you're looking for a means to justify what you saw as the supernatural by ruling out the possibilities in other stories you believe to be similar. Be that the case, sleep paralysis stories won't get you anywhere as they are just too different from yours and too easily explained.
You are right in that were an actual supernatural encounter to occur in the manner of a sleep paralysis episode, it would almost certainly be dismissed by most people on this website. Fortunately, us skeptics have the rule of probability on our side. 😆
Try using the search tool and search for 'dark figures'.
Sorry if I'm wrong btw. 😁

I respect that people want to help someone deal with a problem by giving them some type of explanation. But I think sleep paralysis is thrown around WAY too much in these stories. Yeah it really could be, but does he need everyone telling him that he's undergoing sleep paralysis? This might not be any help to him as it might be an actual occurance. Some spirits/ghosts do have the power to paralize you temporarily. It's not unheard of. It happens to people even while they are very much awake. And I don't remember seeing anything about tremors, or shivering as symptoms of sleep paralysis. I believe youre body doesn't move at all...? But who knows, maybe I need to just shut my mouth. I just don't like how people throw around sleep paralysis so loosely on this site and not give out other suggestions. As to those that did give other suggestions, you ARE doing the right thing. You are actually trying to HELP rather that just prove someone wrong, and I respect that a LOT more. But anyways, I'll let the discussion continue now...

That sounds very scary. I get senses to about spirits that are in the house. No one listens or believes me either they all say I watch too many ghost storys or I am just nervous. I don't like that no one believes me you must feel that way too.
But Like you said in your story that you don't hear anything and nothing is physicaly holding you down, I don't have any edvice for you there, sorry.

Sounds like some form of Sleep paralysis. Most doctors will tell you its your sleeping pattern. But there is a mystically side to it. I'm not 100% clear but its useally demons trying to scare and harm you. Becarefull sometimes they pretend to be an Angel or God himself. Just pray and make sure to say "In Jesus's name!" However in some cases I have heard this does not work. And that the demons simply laughed at him. Dont be afraid, for Gods power is MUCH stronger then even Satan himself.

I think that's somewhat poor of your girl friend not to believe you. Next time she experiences something, I'd be tempted to blow it off as her imagination were I you.
Your experience sounds like sleep paralysis to me. It's very common and easily explained as no doubt all the peeps below me have done so.
I myself have regular episodes of sleep paralysis. However, being familiar with them knowing what they are and how they're caused (basically), I'm less anxious these days and more intrigued. You'd be surprised at what you can achieve when you remain calm in such a state.
Just as many ghost stories are explained as sleep paralysis so too are many alien abduction stories. You'll also find that the description of these episodes differs specifically to the culture in which they occured.
In western culture they are often described as ghost and alien encounters. While in Japan, they are frequently described as visits from an old lady who sits on the edge of their bed. In medieval Europe, sleep paralysis was often thought to be the work of incubii and sucubii sex demons.
Anyway as I was saying, during my last episode I was able to control my experience. During which time I imagined such things as someone typing away at my keyboard, dripping water, a ping-pong ball bouncing against a wall out in the hallway and most amazingly, an alien abduction.
The next time you do have a sleep paralysis episode, please try to control rather than be controlled and let us know what happens.

Well since the sleep paralysis camp is well represented I think I'll play a little devil's advocate here. Before I begin I was to advise I agree Sleep paralysis is the most likely explanation but I want to explore some options if it turns out to not be.
As for your girlfriend, it is great that she helped your friend pass on his message but has she had other experiences with seeing spirits? Also has she ever been in the room when this was happening?
Have you ever tried to speak while paralyzed? Or project your thoughts towards the presense? See if you can find out why it is visiting you and what it wants, maybe it is holding you in place because it is afraid you would leave the room if it let you. Maybe if you can assure it that you won't leave it will let you move and try to communicate.

Hi Al. It sounds to me like it is either sleep paralysis or some sort of panic attack. Sometimes stress can bring on episodes like you describe. Maybe a visit to your physician is in order. I would eliminate the natural causes before I jump to the supernatural. Take Care,

I want to say first of all man, I believe you and I'm sorry this is happening to you. Don't worry about your girlfriend not believing you she will eventually. I believe like Rebelboy said if your Christian, pray, trust in Jesus and most importantly, learn to overcome your fear.

Sounds a bit like sleep paralysis. Or what they call a waking dream. It's like being half in and half out of sleep so while you are aware of things around you your body has not woken up yet. Another theory is that when we sleep our spirit leaves our body and the paralysis comes from your spirit not being fully back in your physical form.
When my daughter was 4 she was lying in bed listening to her dad get ready for work in the bathroom next to her room, Her door was open and so was the bathroom door because she could see the light from the bathroom and heard her dad softly whistling. This is the strange part. She claims she was fully awake when in her room appeared what she described as a count chocula type character and this thing wanted to put a needle in her naval and said don't worry this won't hurt. She got so scared she sat up and acutally went through this apparition and went running into the bathroom crying to her dad. By this time I was awake too and took her in bed with me. I told her she just had a bad dream but she insisted she had been awake and told me what she saw and heard. She is now a woman of 30 but she remembers that event like it was yesterday and still insists she was very much awake when it happened. So did she have sleep paralysis? No. She said she had no trouble moving. To this day I think it was a waking dream but who knows? It has never happened before or since then either. Just a one time thing.

Symptoms of sleep paralysis can be either one of the following or a combination:
* Paralysis: this occurs after waking up or shortly before falling asleep. The person cannot move any body part, cannot speak, and only has minimal control over blinking and breathing. This paralysis is the same paralysis that occurs when dreaming. The brain paralyzes the muscles to prevent possible injury during dreams, as some body parts may move during dreaming. If the person wakes up suddenly, the brain may still think that it is dreaming, and sustains the paralysis.
* Hallucinations: Images or speaking that appear during the paralysis. The person may think that someone is standing beside them or they may hear strange sounds. These may be dreamlike, possibly causing the person to think that they are still dreaming. Often it is reported as feeling a weight on one's chest, as if being underneath a person or heavy object.

I believe it because It sort of happens to me quite a bit. Usually, though I end up opening my eyes and nothings there. But, I totally can understand the feeling that something is on the other side of your eyelids.

The part about your friend sent chills down my spine. That would kind of freak me out. But back to YOUR story... I can say I know what you mean by the sensing of spirits. I don't believe I have any type of gift (if I do it is VERY small) but I do sense things that are out of the ordinary. Luckily in my new house I don't feel that anymore. It creeped me out a lot as a child in my old house. I thought I was just scardy cat or something. But when we moved I no longer felt those spirits hovering. If you are Christian, I suggest praying when you feel those spirits. It always helped calm me down and would usually put an end to those feelings even just for that night. Thanks for sharing your story.

She has medium ability wich can attract ghost even negative identity.
Ghost feed on fear I suggest you don't get scare when you feel that something is there. Do you have any pets? Mostly pets can see what the human eye can't motly cats and dog they will stare at what ever is there that you cannot see (dog will bark at there). Have you done any research on the house history like the previous owner that live in that house before you did... You need to find out if anybody died in that house? If you can't find any record then you just going to have to ask your girlfriend to help you out.
Now you think it might be sleep paralysis, sleep paralysis occours when a person has an OBE (out of body experiance) or lucid dreaming and mostly sleep paralysis occour 1 to 2 times in your life not every night.
Another thing is I would like to know if this happens when your girlfriend is not around...
Or did this happen before you met your girlfriend? Because if not then is not your girlfriend it must be something in the house. But like I said before if she has medium ability then she is attracting this spirit or spirits. Also yes wake her up when this happens to you at night. Because since she hasnt done anymore sensing or communication since your friend accident she's blocking them wich makes a spirit angry and will harm you or her. (Dont be afraid because like I said to you before spirit feed on fear the more scare you get the more stronger they will be) let me know more about what you have experiance maybe more detail like: footstep, doorslaming,or voices that you don't know where they are coming from. I hope I help and if you have more question I will be happy to answer them.
