3AM is really really early in the morning. It is not 'THE WITCHING HOUR' I should know I'm a former witch and it would have been a pain in the tooty to stay up until 3am to preform ritual magic...

The 'Witching Hour' is a creation of Western (New World) Writers such as Washington Irving in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and he didn't even call it the 'Witching Hour' he called it 'that witching time of night'. Also 'popularized in Movies such as The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Even if Christ Died at 3pm (Middle East Time) and we 'ASSUME' that 3am is Lucifer using the opposite to 'mock' the time of his death... That means we must subtract the time difference (which is 8 hrs) to get our 'Witching Hour' here in the States Which would be 7pm the 'night before'... (It works like this... 3am Sat Apr 7th 2012 Jerusalem is 7pm Fri Apr 6th 2012.) So just which 3am is being used by Lucifer to Mock the Trinity?

This is an older experience but the only 'power' 3am has is the 'focus'...the negative focus... People put on it.

3 am is what they call Witching Hour that is the time where all evil entity are Strong what happen to you is what they call infestation In this case, the malefic activity is directed toward places (houses, offices, stores, fields), objects (cars, pillows, mattresses, dolls) and animals, therefore it only indirectly affects man. What you should do is have a Priest bless your house. Please don't take it lighty this things are sign that Evil entity are gaining strength in that place. Ask your local Priest to visit you house. The International Association of Exorcists requires every diocese to have an Exorcist.

3 AM is called the Witching Hour. It's a mockery of Jesus' time of death (3 PM). It's supposed to be a sign of demonic forces and all.

I have never had anything to do with this witching hour crap. But I am starting to understand some of these happenings are for real.

Okay, you can't ask anyone to become muslim "cuz it will be better, no waking up" etc! There are certain boundaries in conversation, and one should never claim his/her religion is more effective!

Oh, and the evil hours of the night are a medieval concept, not an american one, even if they first appear in an american book, every medieval human knew that between 12 and 3 in the morning bad things happen...

How scary! I have been staying up to sometimes 4 in the morning recently and noticed something strange about my cell phone. It would light up for no apparent reason. At first it would do so at midnight or close to it, It was a while back and I didn't really pay attention to it. But then I noticed it would do so at 3 am! It took a couple times for me to be sure. As recently as 2 days ago I noticed that the time it lights up has changed. It now lights up at 3:42 am exactly. I have been told that the apartment I'm in now is haunted and had a few experiences myself

Wow a whole minus one... I thought the Karma points were for very rude or 'nasty' comments. Is my last one in that category? If you do not agree with me then please say so, I'm more than happy to discuss my theories and provide references and 'links' to back them up.

Ummm I've posted something concerning the concept of the witching hour before. While I've no doubt that during the wee hours of the morning there is a good chance that there is more energy for a spirit or entity to draw from it is the concept that this is the opposite of the time Christ was Crucified or that Black Magic is more powerful that I have 'issues' with.

It's a Western Concept... (Think United States...) and a bit of Hollywood all rolled into one...It's first mentioned in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving (written in 1820) and even then only called 'the witching hour' with no specific time mentioned. Then you have Hollywood hyping things in movies. The term as referred to here is the period from midnight to 3am. At 3 a.m. It is the devil's hour, as opposed to 3 p.m., when Jesus was said to have been crucified. Yet most Christians deny this time has any special meaning within the Christian faith. Having said that...

I agree that as night passes and people are asleep there may be more 'psychic' energy for the use of spirits or entities I do not feel it has to do with the 'time Christ died'. When people sleep their 'defenses are down' (unless they know how to 'shield' themselves) and therefore their energy is more available to draw upon. That's just my opinion anyway.

3:00 AM, AKA The Witching Hour, is known as the time that demons (incubuses, succubus,etc) are released into the world. In a home with these experiences, there is often a place known as the "vortex" or "portal" where they enter and exit from. This place can be determined by the most activity, cold spots, or in a case with a Thermal Imaging camera, a hot spot. And not always will hanging a cross help. They can be thrown off the wall, turned upside down, etc.

Um, I don't get it, so 3:00 AM is were ghost and demon hunts most? What? 😕

3:00pm was said to be the time of Jesus's death so as a converse 3:00am is basicly the time for Demons to move less hindered.

I just want to say- Well done you for standing up to this thing and getting it the hell out!
Also just in case it hasn't been mentioned already- 3 am is the devils hour in Christianity because hes mocking the hour Christ died- 3pm. It's supposedly the hour when most people die as well. Creepy, right?
I learnt this from my mam who researched it when she had a stint where she kept waking from nightmares at 3 am or there abouts.
Also- the best way to keep these things out is a strong resolution. Just try to keep a clear mind and stay positive. The bad things grow from bad things.

I have also had many bad experiences during 3am. I wake up out of a nightmare and find out that something is in the room. One night I actually woke up to see a green object over me taking something from my chest. I also wanted to note that the devil wants your soul and thinks that he can still get you. Only when you declare really loud and firmly that you are a son of god and openly express that the lord is your shepherd will your experiences only begin to finish.

Don't be surprised if the experiences after this get violent. Whatever is trying to get you is getting desperate. I suggest you pray and shout at it and show no fear when it comes. If you show fear you are letting it know that you have yet to completely submit yourself to god.

It would also help if you keep holy water and crosses, and maybe even an open bible around your bed area when you sleep. Though this doesn't ensure complete protection, it's a tool that will help you get your life back. 3am is their favorite time to mess with people... Good luck!

Somewhere in the world, it's 3am...So, what does the devil and his minions do: begin at Greenwich, England and play in every time zone around the world between the hours of 3 and 4am?...No wonder they're so grumpy, they get no rest... 😆

The 3am thing sounds very superstitious to me. I believe in the paranormal but people over centuries have held beliefs based on nothing except for coincidences made into fact. The human brain has a funny way of making conclusions and people need to be more objective. Also, if demons are intimidating you, they will most likely play on your fears. I wish we weren't so fearful but it's hard sometimes with the experiences we endure.

Yeah, nothing has ever happened to me at 3 a.m. Either. I really feel that the enemy has turned it into hype & folks fall into it, sadly. So, I know what you mean. princessLotus, you know I really Respect your Religion but really when I stay awake at 3:00 I stay tuned to 3:00 I keep watching the hour and when it comes to 3:00 really nothing happens I asked religious people in mosque is it true about 3:00 O'clock? They say no nothing happen I mean really after watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose I couldn't watch it, it is so scary, and when I saw what happens in 3:00 I started to get worry and read about it but thanks to God he keeps me Safe

aaed, I'm so disappointed in what you are saying. The enemy & his minions can do anything God allows. I know that sounds pretty F'd up, but I believe He does this so we all turn to Him for protection. I am not reading scripture to you so I'm not preaching. I'm simply stated what I've learned in Seminary School. I have studied many religions & people, Muslim being one of them.

What I am saying is, friends, it matters not who you are or what organisation, religion you claim. Get right with God. No it's not anything majical that keeps the enemy & demons away from us for ever, but at least you KNOW that with God you have someone a whole lot more powerful than the enemy & crystals & steel & spells. Just call on Him & He is there.

Wow, great story.
Similiar thing happened to me a few years ago. My roommates and I all rented a house and they had all left to visit their families over the Christmas holidays leaving me in a house to myself.
During this time, some weird things started happening around the house. I heard a few knocks, bumps, person walking up/down stairs, and once while I was on the computer downstairs, I heard what sounded like a plastic bottle falling off of the counter and bouncing/rolling on the floor. I thought perhaps a draft might have knocked it over so I went upstairs to look. Nothing. I heard the same sound come from the laundry room/bathroom, checked it out. Nothing. Then I heard the same sound once more come from the computer I was just at! Not only was this weird enough but the flooring at the computer is carpet. Odd eh?
Later on, while watching TV, I heard three distinctive knocks come from behind me. (I looked at the clock afterwards - it was 11:29pm) Thought it was perhaps the wind outside so I ignored it. That night, I woke up at 3:00am on the dot from a small bump/knock against the wall. I thought 'meh' and went back to sleep.
11:29pm the following night, same three knocks. 3:00am on the dot, I woke up again from a knock/bang against the same wall. Thats when I got a chill down my spine. Sat there for a few minutes, nothing else happened so I went back to sleep.
The next night, I made sure to look at the clock at 11:29pm and sure enough, clock struck 11:29pm and three knocks sounded. I just kind of smiled and said "Hey" and continued watching TV. 3:00am rolled around and sure enough, I woke again to a bit of a louder bang/knock and I sat up and said sternly "Give it a rest, I'm not in the mood, I'm sleeping". Surprisingly, nothing happened the next night. Nothing at 11:29pm, nothing at 3:00am and I slept through perfectly the next few nights with no disturbances.

I wanted to comment on something Copperskull said. About how you always see the clock at 11:34. That happens to me all of the time. It seems to be the only recurring time I see. It used to happen almost once a day and sometimes twice. It has always seemed negative to me. Giving me the chills when I see it. And if you turn 11:34 upside down, on a digital clock, it spells "hell". I don't know why I see it so often. I told my friend John about it. And now it happens to him.

I felt something walk past me as I was typing that story and reading. It is only 2:00 AM, though. I heard a big bang on the monitor, too. Which that never happens, only happens when I read this stuff!

Yup, It's 3:00 AM alright. One time I was 9 I had a violent dream and a awoke to a handsome, elegant man, He had black hair and a black suit and hat on with glowing red eyes (He still had the white part, though), I asked him who he was in my mind and he said Mephistopheles and I asked him was that and he said "Satan", I asked if he was going to hurt me and he said "Yes", and I asked if it was because I didn't worship him he said "Yes". I got out of bed to use the restroom and I asked my sister what time it is and she said 3:15 AM. Later, I went back to sleep and having awoken with claw marks on my rib.

3:am has its holding yes in biblical reference and such but why in the sam jones would and how affect the demons of another belife system to your own?

Think logically about this you can't be multi faith as it is a light against god I feel same deal goes with the Devil so hence you can't have foriegn Demons being affected but christian biblical story.

Sorry if it seems harsh against anyones faith but look deeper into it and you will find all kinds of dodgyness in ALL kinds of faiths,

There are no true followers of a higher entity as humans will always corrupt its views and words.

I've heard a lot of theories on 3:00am. Many people have called it the "Demonic Witching Hour." I believe it is something to do with the cycle of the night.

I've had a lot of experiences late at night, but never thought to check the time when they happened.

It's interesting that mystia commented on channel 1013 and associated it to 10:13 or the date October 13th. When I was younger, I used to get chills when I happened to glance at a digital clock and it had certain times on it; especially 12:20 (My birthday is Dec. 20) and, for some reason 11:34, which I would see extremely regularly. I find it even more interesting that it happens to be that number and my mom's birthday was Oct. 13th. She passed away just last year.

To lifesown, have you check your computers automatic updates? Or virus scans? Either of these can cause the comp to auto-restart and are usually preset to run at a time most people sent active. As for the tv, do you have a universal remote? If the baterys are going out it can do some weird things, also if you live in close proximity to some one who's got the same MHz your recever is on they can accidently affect your tv. This is crazy but I really want to tell someone because I do not want to freak my wife out but here we go! We moved into this hous last summer and nothing every happened that rings any bells except for an ocasional light up on one of our phones! Never really payed any attention to the time that it happened so no biggy right? Well a couple of months ago I started waking up because we recently bought a new Pc and placed in our bedroom well it started blue screening in the middle of the night! So I took it back to office depot and exchanged it for another. The sMe thing happened with it an ocassional blue screen or a reboot in the middle of the night and the start up sounds for windows would awake me! We I was watching something on tv and they were talking about the 3am thing so I told my wife jokingly that's what's up with our Pc! See I don't believe in ghost so it was a mere joke she does so I try not to spook her! After that every time it happened I looked at the clock it's always 3:12 - 3:30 am every time never the same time and oddly our phones often light up around this time too! Someone give me a scientific reason for this please! Really starting to spook myself now and I'm not kidding! Our tv has also turned it's self on or off for no reason! I need scientific answers for these occurences not scarey stories please!

something happened to me and my husband last night. We live in an old house and I always believed that there are others living here with us. As always we went to bed at about 10.30, he finished reading his book and I was sleeping beside him.
I woke up at 3.00 am in the living room sofa with jeremy on the other sofa, I woke him up and asked him if he remembers anything, he did not. We Both have no reacollection of what happened after we fell asleep last night or how we both ended up in the other room or why I woke up at exactly 3.00 am

About 3 weeks ago (3:10 ish AM) I was lying in bed asleep, when I woke up to feel a firm grip on my left foot, as if something was about to pull me out of bed, I quickly shook me leg and I felt it's grasp let go instantly, I also felt something in the room with me, but it was dark, and I couldn't see anything!, I felt a feeling of heavyness and fear, eugh it creeps me out!

Last week I was staying at The Inn at Charles Town in WV. I was sleeping on the right side of the bed laying on my right side. All of a sudden right behind me, I felt and heard something getting into bed with me! The movement of the covers and the pressure placed on the bed woke me up, but I was too scared to turn around to see. I didn't want to see, I couldn't move! At that moment what was running through my mind was if someone just walked into my room by accident. I wondered if I did not properly secure the door. After a few seconds, which felt like minutes I sat up and looked at the alarm clock. It was exactly 3:00 a.m. I got up, turned the lights on and looked in the bathroom, checked the door, and then the closet. No one was there. Given that I had to get up early, I had to go back to sleep, with the lights on. Maybe this was sleep paralysis or paranormal. I don't know. It felt so real. If it was sleep paralysis, what a coincide that this happened at exactly 3:00 a.m.

My computer moniter made a weird bang/crack noise, and the internet page scrolled downwards one step.
My monitor does that sometimes, so I don't consider it to be some kind of phenomenom. It just really freaks me out. Because of that I made a username on this sight to share this.
Idk if this is any relevance but I live about 20 minutes driving away from the actual Amityville Horror house, in Wisconsin.

Wow. I haven't heard anything about 3:00 AM being the hour of evil or anything. But at my best friends house (where I stay quite often) At exactly 3:00 AM strange things happen. We will hear strange noises (thumping, creaking). Normal noises for a house I assume. But sometimes doors will open and close by themselves. One time his stereo upstairs turned on full volume by itself. It's rather unnerving, but I've never really been scared or concerned.

I heard somewhere that 3.00 AM is the hour where you are closest to your death.

This is where I love having parents to sleep with when something creepy happens. Just this morning, I woke up at around 3:00, had an eerie feeling so I asked my mom to sleep with me. I even had arm spasms (which happens when something bad is about to happen, sort of like a leg jerk when a storm is coming for sailors), but she hugged me and said it was okay.

That really freaked me out! Once I woke up at exactly 3:00 AM and I was really hot and it felt like something else was in the room with me. 😕 😐

That is strange about 3am. The tv coming on, I would check to see if someone didn't accidently set a timer for it to come on at that time. Some tvs have timers. But it could be paranormal too, which is creepy.

I DID NOT say "with the knowledge." I was pointing at an opinion, (THUS the words "learned knowledge") NOT a fact. MANY people are taught from the pulpit that such persons have fallen from the grace of God. It is no longer the popular stand, but it seems to linger at SOME gatherings of religious minds.
MY thoughts on the issue started with "We are who we are for a reason." I make no pretence of KNOWING the mind of God. I have no way of knowing. I am but a mere person. I believe that people are created the way they were intended to be created. WE make choices, we fail, we persevere, we survive.

Demons are dangerous at any time, not just at 3:00 am. Your story seems sketchy to me.
And, I have a question that is also responses to one of the other comments on here: God is the giver of second chances. Homosexuals are "fallen from God"... If God gives second chances, that would mean he's giving someone a second chance for loving someone. That doesn't sound like the God I worship at all.
I am a Wiccan, and in my religion, God doesn't view homosexuals as being in rebellion to him. We are very tolerant of them. No offense to any of you, but homophobes suck.:/

oh that was nothing to worry about, only a nightmare and then the telavision. Now I know more then I should about spirtral things. First to answer some people talk about the time zone. Time zones still acts the same for with any other world. (if chine has time zone of 5 am and usa has one of 5 pm, the spirtes in usa would have their time zone and the ones in china goes by china's time zone. Now to anwser about 3 am. Sprites are most powerfulest at the peak of 3. Most of the time weak pafetic spites uses this time to be able to just scear some one.

When it comes to 3 am, I feel spooked if I wake between 3 am and 4 am. I don't believe it has to do with the devil since the invention of hours is human-made, but I do think it might have something to do with that time being the darkest part of night, just before dawn. We are naturally daylight creatures, so we would be at our most vulnerable during the darkest part of night and, of course, negative spirits would want to attack when we are at our most vulnerable.

Me and one of my friends were talking about this and she was telling me about how a few years back she started going to church and praying... She said that as soon as she started doing this she began having horrible nighmares and would always occur at exactly 3am. She said 3am was some kind of "satanic" hour or something. She felt like it was the devil trying to keep her away from god in a sense.
Well this really creeped me out. Last night before I went to bed I had a really weird, bad feeling and I kepped hearing noises and just felt really skiddish all night.
Well in the middle of the night I had a nightmare and woke up sweating... I looked at the clock and it was 3am this really scares me can someone please explain this to me?

3:00 am is also explained in "the exorcism of emily rose". This is also the time when Jesus sweat with blood while praying at the garden of Gethsemane.

i have heard that 3 am is the demons mocking hour of 3 pm when christ died on the cross and that's when the devil is most active. That could be why you wake up then, but you need to pray to God for guidence becaue if you are a true child of God he will never leave you

Hi... I really freaked when I read this story, since for the past 3-4 years now, I always wake up at 3:00am! It all started when we moved to our current house. The house is relatively new... We are just teh 2nd owners, but the previous owners are of a different religion (cant mention what to avoid offending others of the same faith) and was heavily into golden idols and stuff. We moved when I was into my 3rd month of pregnancy and I thought the 3am wake-up time had to do with my pregnancy. I always found myself just sitting up in the living room, watching TV, unable to sleep at that time. Now, my son is 3 years old, and still I wake up at that time no matter how late I go to sleep. Been having weird experiences too, but nothing too great to confirm I'm dealing with some supernatural stuff. Its been better though lately, when I prayed hard and envisioned the blood of Christ covering all the walls, nook and cranny of the house and asking for Christ's protection over us. Hope it stays that way. Thanks for this info. I am curious now to watch the Emily Rose movie but don't know if I can do so in our house.

Hello Valerie. Thank you for your interesting but scary story. My thoughts on this is that when you visited the ancient sites on your trip, you did bring back with you an evil entity from somewhere in that area since it was not a holy site of worship. I think it followed you.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose was a creepy true story. Poor Emily.

3:00am is a bad time. Many different things happen to many different people at 3:00am. They are many theories, 3:00am is an active time for paranormal, it is the time of demons because 3:00am is the said time which Christ died, 3:00am is the time when god learns of your sins or something like that. Research some stories here about 3:00am incidents.

I'm so glad I got to read your story, I had the same problem after seeing the movie of the excorism of Emily. My family laughed at me saying that I'm just scared and it's all in my head. I'm glad to know I'm not going crazy. I don't get nightmares (Thankfully) I just wake up for no reason and then can't faal a sleep again.

Sometimes evil entities can feel like what I assume an encounter with The Evil One would feel like. With the learned knowledge that those who are homosexual will "fall from the grace of God", is also the learned knowledge that He is also the God of Second Chances. We ARE who we ARE for a reason, and I honestly do not think the Devil himself would have come to you to tell you the "error of your ways", perhaps it was a DIFFERENT, but evil feeling being that spoke to you.

This is really interesting. I have also one "3AM"-story to tell.(I'm sorry if my English isn't too good, I'm from Scandinavia, so English isn't my firts language.):
I am a woman and I have a girlfriend. I think everyone knows that in the Bible homosexuality is forbidden etc. I think that's why I had this very scary encounter with a Devil himself (I really think it was him).
One night at 3AM I woke up and heard this very creepy, deep male voice that was calling my name. I got up from the bed where we were sleeping with my girlfriend and the voice was gettin louder and louder. I was scared, but still I wanted to answer that voice and asked "Who's there?" The voice was gone for a while but started again. This time it didn't just call my name, but it asked me to follow him/it. I didn't. As a matter of fact I went back to my bed and prayed for God to make that voice go away. (I wasn't too religious before this happened...) Little by little voice started to vanish and I never heard it again.
After that I started to believe in God. Even though I am a homosexual I know that He is there to protect us all. That night He did.

3 am is the devil's hour. When jesus was crucified it was supposedly at 3 pm. So the devil's hour, otherwise known as the witching hour, is the opposite to jesus' crucifiction. I have had wierd things happen to me at 3 am too, such as a crucifix that is on my wall turn upside down by itself. Very creepy stuff.

Maybe the ghost liked the show that came on at 3 haha:P That is a pretty sketchy story though

I've been having experiences with 3:00 A.M. For nearly 2 years. Starting with the burners on the stove turning themselves on, which I awoke to. And then there's my cat, he often wakes me up just at 3:00 A.M. Apparently these stupid, furry little rodents can see something we can't...I don't know, I'm a skeptic, but even still I just woke up at 3:00 A.M. Again tonight.

Well I'm not a disbeliever however I have an honest question to ask if anyone can help answer it (it has to due with the 3:00 am phenomenon... Throughout the globe 3:00 am takes places numerous times of course depending on your time zone... So wouldn't that technically mean numerous bewitching "hours"?

Very interesting story yet scary. When I used to live with my mom (once in a while) I would wake up at 3:00am for no reason but I would be so scare (still not knowing why) so I would try to go to sleep as fast as I could while praying. I never knew what that meant until I saw "The exorcism of Emily Rose". I was terrified and I couldn't sleep. Thankfully this doesn't happen a lot anymore, I pray at night and always sprinkle holy water around the house! Now I feel safe.

Athena, it means you're going to sleepy at work tomorrow if you don't go to bed ;) I'm not saying christians are right about the supernatural world, I'm saying the supernatural world use christian beliefs to manipulate people. If a ghost was christian as human being, he's probably going to be afraid of christian priests blessings. But many other occurences around the world has shown that blessings from other religions work just as well. The astral plane is all about psychology. If a belief is going to give you strength of character, like, for example, a crucifix for a catholic, some ghosts or demons are going to try and play with that symbol to scare you. So the 3:00 am hour is just that, a christian symbol.

Hello, Gee, what if you are not Christian then what would the 3:00 AM hour mean? Just a thought. ;)

In the movie "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" they also explore the 3:00 am phenomenon, and I think they have pretty much the same explanation as brittany, meaning it's a mockery by demons of this christian holy hour, just like an inversed crucifix, for example.

3 A.M. Is significant because Jesus was supposively crusified at 3pm. 3pm is supposed to be a holyish hour while 3A.M. Is supposed to be the time of the Devil. Going to such an unholy place, where the devil was worshiped, its no surprise that the spirit you brought back with you was a "demonic" one. That is why you would wake up at 3A.M. That was probably when the spirit was at its strongest. I hope this helps you out in some way.

Good for you Valerie. Obviously something evil did follow you from those tainted lands but your strength in God delivered you in a grand manner. Your story should be a good example for others to follow who may be involved in simliar circumstances. God bless you sister.

It was your strong faith, a lion heart, to protect your young ones and your sanity. At least you learned, never mess with these kind of phenomenon.
