Shinigami...very interesting... I will gladly look into this, learning about native people just fascinates me... Although we have consider the fact that not only native americans used to occupy those lands... What about the american soldiers who forced those people out of there? What about those "nurses" that would stay close to the battle fields to take care of the injured? There is a lot of factors that could play a role in this phenomenon... 😁

Hmm, I've thought of that, because this was when I used to live in Oklahoma, and as we all know, there were MANY Native American reservations and settlements after the unfortunate Trail of Tears incident. I myself have a good bit of Native American blood, so maybe it was a long lost relative or a reminder of her children from a long time ago.
I do know an interesting tidbit from the town, however. Claremore was named after Chief Claremont, who's symbol and spirit animal was a white wolf. He laid a blessing on this land that no tornadoes would destroy it, and believe it or not, Claremore has never once, in the entire history of its existance until now, had a tornado. It could also be because its in a small valley, but its still interesting.

Shinigami... If I may add that even though its a new house build on the land, it may occur that something happened there ages ago, I have a friend who lives in kroonstad in South-Africa and he also exprienced the same only his was violent, he would sometimes go to sleep and be awaken by a loud bang on this door, keep in mind that he's house is also newly build, and sometimes the "thing" would move his bed from one corner to the other... Now what you exprienced was someone who died on that land who was "florince nightingale" her self, she did most probally never had come to peace of what happened there... If you don't mind, you can give me the details of that land and my father can help he is a historian at the university of South Africa. But I strongly believe that what ever pecked you that night feels that you may be close to his/her children...

zzsgranny- Oh, whoops! Sorry for the misunderstanding! 😆
And yep, if I know my momma right, my brother and I are always on her mind.
I think the mix greatly benefited from the thought you threw in. 😆

Shinigami: LOL... What I mean is your Mom could have been unknowingly projecting in her sleep, as you say the feeling was that of being comforted... Being a mom and granny, I know my kids are always on my mind, even though they sometimes take a back seat to other conscious thoughts...
Just a thought to throw in the mix!... 😊

zzsgranny-
Hmm, I hadn't thought of that. Now that I think about it, it does seem like a good possibility. Maybe the apparition was just passing through while I was doing so. Oh, I'm probably going to sound a bit ditzy, but it took me a while to figure out what OBE was. I'm not too good with abbreviations sometimes. 😆
And I've read that story by aussiedaz that you mentioned. It was very interesting.
Oh, and I think there might have been a misunderstanding. It wasn't my mom, but me who experienced this. However, I did tell my mom, but she shrugged it off.

Shinigami: This sounds similar to a OBE on your Mom's part... One of our more distinguished posters, Aussiedaz, has had quite a few, and can actually do it knowingly... Which makes him the envy of all of us! 😆... He says he did it one night and pulled his wife's toe, and she verified it the next day... Pretty cool stuff...
Anyway, I think sometimes we project involuntarily, and unknowingly... Maybe she was dreaming or something... Since it hasn't happened again, I would say that is the most likely explanation...
Thanks for posting... And yes, it's good to remember these things... How else are we to learn?
❤

Err, not sure about that. I've handled much worse situations when it comes to the odd world of the supernatural. Its a good suggestion though.

Miracles-
Eh, don't worry about it. We all have our soapbox times. I know I do! 😆
But yes, I've had some awesome experiences that weren't crazy, but definitely unforgetable. And also, recording them in a journal can provide helpful information about experiences involving similar factors.
Now I believe its time for me to get off of the soapbox. 😊

Shinigami0 - I'd like to tag onto your comment to snowhite, if you don't mind.
Snowhite, I have a Journal that I've been keeping for over 10 years. This Journal has over 30 years of paranormal events in my life, most of which aren't harmful or scary. As Shinigami0 asked, why forget?
I have learned so much by going back and rereading the things that have happened to me and my kids. Some of them I have found have had natural explanations and some of them I've found actually occur more often than we realize.
To simplify what I was trying to say, I agree with Shinigami0 and a whole lot of other people on this site who just haven't spoken up yet...don't "forget" a harmless incident just because it didn't scare the crap out of you. Some of the best experiences (and there are so many stories on here, right guys?) are so completely wonderful and they didn't terrify anyone. They are the "feel good" experiences and, personally, I wouldn't want to ever forget those.
Stepping down from another soapbox! 😆

Snowwhite-
Why forget? I'm sorry if I offend, but I believe that we can learn so much from these encounters.
And it hasn't bothered me since that instance, as I previously stated.

I think the land must be haunted. The spirit was there before the house was even built. If the spirit doesn't hurt you, then just forget about it. If it bothers you and is evil, then you need to take action.

Hi there Cosmogal! Its odd, because no one had recently died, and this was before my grandmother on my dad's side had passed away. It could have been my great grandmother, who passed when I was a toddler, but it still doesn't exactly explain why it stole my breath away and made me so frightened.
I also agree that it was probably a passing entity, and my house just happened to be in the way of its course.
Thank you for your suggestion! 😊

Hello again Shinigami0, Your experience is similar to something that happened to me as a child. Perhaps this was the spirit of a deceased relative that came to see you before they crossed over. Did anyone in your family pass away before that happened like your grandmother or aunt? You might not even have known them, which was the case in my story. Since it only happened that one time and you had no further experiences, I can only think that it was just passing through. Hope I was able to help you out a little. Take Care 😊 ❤
