Dan,
Your preaching to the choir, it was solid though and I didn't mention it but I did not notice any temp difference when it touched me, if I were reading this I would assume the the touch was cold but that is not something I recalled and if it was a chilling touch I certainly would have remember that. I am an IT Security Engineer for a very large legal research company and I am very logical as well, but solid didn't seem to matter in this case.

lynrinth...
After this happened we spoke to the Battalion Chaplin who had some insight and a couple of Marines started calling family members to ensure everyone was OK.
One Marine did say their Mother asked the same question about aliens as well, I guess anythings possible.

Lou... I like your question, but I know there was snow on the ground outside of the Barracks, I am not saying snow cover winter wonderland, but snow never the less and keep in mind cold to me is 20 degrees.
I am going to search for my old Marine roommate and see if I can get him to chime in. I think that would be great to add value and his comments would be great to hear for me as well, I will certainly attempt to search for him.
I do have another Marine buddy who was located a few rooms down which I am in contact with, I have never brought it back up to him but I am going to ask him to comment on this post. I am sure he recalled the hype when this happened.
I am a bit taken back by such nice people on this site, thank you for your comments. I know you don't know me and there are many times false claims can be made but certainly question me if nothing else for your own comfort and I will try get some others insight who will recall this.
I truly have nothing to gain here by telling my story, but it really felt good to post it after all these year.
This was a big deal for me to write out, I have told this story many times and to sit down and try in my limited way to put a reading in my shoes was a challenge for me.

Hmmm...interesting story. Love stories like this, it's odd and not your-run-of-the-mill ghost story. Have you ever considered instead of a ghost, an alien? You know, outer space. Have there ever been any reports of UFOs? Maybe not, but you never know. Have to consider all possibilities. Why not?

Ooops, sorry for double posting, and for interupting your thread, Tonto...
Lou, once again, you've managed to bring up a song that's going to be with me for the rest of the day! 😆 ❤

Tonto: This is a great story, I really enjoyed it! 😊...My brother is a former Marine, also, and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in 1971... Now I'm going to have to grill him about ghostie stories! 😆...
I absolutely agree with and love your attitude about whether people believe you or not... At this point in my life, I could care less because I KNOW what I've experienced, and feel very fortunate to have had such experiences...
I certainly hope you have many more to share, as this is one of the most enjoyable reads on here! ❤

whoa! Exciting! Good story... I too believe I have seen the grim reaper, but I actually saw it in the clouds... I was in my cousins car and looked out his windshield up to the clouds and something was telling me something was there to be seen so I turn my head and saw the freaking grim reaper, too bad I couldn't get a picture or anything but it was freaking crazy... This did in fact give me the creeps almost as if death was on my shoulders, but this seems way more vivid and real! Too bad there's no history about this kind of thing! May jesus bless you marine

Why do you build me up, Buttercup?
Loved the story, and Lord knows I have trememndous respect for the military; current and veterans!
OK Kimosabe. Spent some time as an investigator for some time in the past. I was taught to focus on ANYTHING that did not measure up. Your description of your barracks, your terminology, your account of your experience... Flawless and completely believable.
But...do you have your timeframe wrong? I have a good friend in NC, which means I know slightly more about that state, than all the others I've never lived in. First of all, to even suggest that the winter in the Jacksonville area has a peak, is a bit of a stretch, having grown up in NY state and currently living in Maine. But "snow covered and very cold" does not accurately depict the weather in Camp Lejeune in 1990. There were a total of five days in 1990...1/2, 1/13, 2/25, 2/26, and 12/25; that had temperatures cold enough not only to produce snow, but to sustain it... And low and behold, the recorded precipitation for every one of those days was 0.00 inches (thank you weatherunderground.com).
Please explain,
Lou

Wow, this is one heck of a story!
To be honest, up until you got to the part about this figure flying through the wall, I truly thought your CO had a tazer on a low setting and was sort of "testing" you guys, to see your reaction to waking up to a fight. But, no one I know who has been in the military has ever had such a hard core CO that he could fly through walls lol. Randomly pummel guys in their bunks to see if they'd wake up swinging, yes. Fly through walls, nope.
BadJuuJuu's crackpot theory of the day, former officer still testing soldiers' reflexes.
Whatever you encountered made for one impressive tale. This is going to my favorites list.
Btw, thank you for your service.

So far - what a story! - trying to read this while the students are changing classes - however, before I could finish reading, the students came in asking a million questions (common for middle schoolers - LOL).
I'm marking this as fave - then when I get home - I will finish reading and make a proper comment then. 😊

Riveting story! I think I stopped breathing until you said you felt no evil. Thanks for sharing. Also, you are right that people should not feel embarrassed for seeing things others cannot.

nice story! Well written 😁
I've always been interested in shadow beings like the one you described.
You said that you had no further dealings with this being? Maybe it is bound to the location you saw it at or it was just "passing through".
Anyway, nice read!

I've heard stories about Lejeune from my Marine buddies. I know some weird stuff happened there.
