Old-dude, you are tha man. Intense. I had a seance that worked once, and like yourself, the events afterward kind of peaked. Funny how at the time I didn't string the events together as seance aftermath... Retrospect makes things clearer. I too was a curious teen. All that happened was that the bedroom the seance was held in, in the wee small hours, every night, the bed would shake. It was the room adjoining mine, my little sis told mum she was too scared to sleep in there... Traded rooms with my little bro... He starts up about the bed shaking at night. So mum pooh poohs everyone (cynic) and sleeps the night in the room to prove a point... And was woken with the bed shaking, totally hot and cold with terror. Sissy bunked with me after that and it became an unused room. We moved after that. Also, one evening I was talking to a friend, about the whole deal, and a glass candle literally jumped off the window frame and shattered the glass top of the aquarium beneath it. Kinda thick that it took that to convince me. Ha. I'd submit it as a story, instead of jacking your thread, but that's all that happened. Not much of a story compared to yours... Still. Well told. Go pops, the priest. What a stroke of luck he had a clue.

This story got my heart racing! Let me tell you, I believe every word you wrote. And it scares the heck out of me! I stay away from things like that. I have a firm belief that one can bring evil into their lives through objects alone. I'm very careful of what I bring into my home too. Objects have history, and some have ghosts evidently. Hope all is all well with you, and thanks for the interesting read. Glad you got it all out 😊

im pretty sure I was clean shaven when I started this story... But it was worth every word... Where can I get one of these fantastic boards you speak of? So me & my friends can get down to messing ourselves up in the head... Ordinary living is just not for me anymore...

I had a scary brush with an Ouija board once too, but it wasn't half as ad as yours! Maybe the old woman whom you have mentioned must have used it once and opened a door to the other side, who knows, excellent read as most of your stories are.

there really isn't much to tell other than I have had other encounters with other spirits but they werent as bad... I just don't want ougia boards to be taken lightly as my uncle he is a priest and he has gotten rid of any other spirits bothering me besides that I hvent told him about it yet and I don't really want too either

Freakky I don't want to comment on your comment here. But please try to get to the posting of your story asap.I'd like to read the whole thing before "touching" this issue. Before asking people for ideas I think you should first let us know in full detail what happened.

Im so sorry that you have had to go through this. Six months ago me and a group of nine people tried a ouigia board and this one made me cry. I realised that it was a very bad spirit but I couldn't tell anyone because the deamon would get angry I went to say good bye when I heard my boyfriend scream. I ran to the lights but they wouldn't turn on. After an hour in the dark the lights came on (none of our phones were working and mine had full charge when we started) and as soon as the lights turned on our phones started beebing continuously. I looked for my boyfriend but none of us have seen him since, we did find bloody footprints leading to the window though. But the window wasn't smashed, does anyone have any ideas on what this is? I will go into more detail about t in a story on here coming soon.

Hi all,
I'd like to chime in on some of this...
I think most people in North America perceive this as a game. They are sold in the stores by Milton Bradley and other game manufactures. They can be bought by a six year old and pick off the toysrus shelf between Disney's version of monopoly and the game of LIFE.
The danger is that the power is not in the board, but the assembly of people.
I don't think the board has any specific power, and is harmless by itself... But it can be used to tap into the paranormal world. My guess is at that time the board can either be linked to a spirit or the spirit can be linked to the people.
...Either way the board or idea is harmless enough that society is ok with companies making the boards and selling them. But the use of the board is a completely different matter.
I would imagine that a homemade board is the same. Harmless but the process of using it is just as "dangerous"
I know this is how I felt when I first encountered the board. It was a game. Something to have fun with and get a few chuckles and quick scares out of.
Little did I know... Hopefully others can be forewarned. Any s

KRYSTALLIA: Yeah, a lot of the danger lies with the assumption that it is "just a game"...You can see that in the way people refer to their sessions: they either have "used" (not a game) or "played with" (just a game) the board...
As far as I know, the only directions that come with the board are where/how to place it (on a table, or preferably on the laps of at least two people), and how to use the planchette by placing your fingertips lightly on it...
If I remember correctly, DeviousAngel and I had a convo in one thread about how pissed off we'd be if someone woke us from a "dead sleep", asked us stupid questions, and then left us in an unfamiliar place with no way to get out... I believe that's what happens in 99% of the sessions where a "D" word is perceived to be messing with people afterward...There's still that 1% though, so caution should be used... 😊

Aww thank you Granny! You're too sweet! Thumbs up for the correct spelling but I'd really like to hear you pronounce it! LOL! People would always "kill" my name back in S.A.
So, let me get this straight, there are many ways to make contact (as you mentioned) but everyone is opposed to using ouija boards because they are perceived as games (therefore harmless) and are easier to use? Do they come with directions? And another thing (sorry if I am tiring you)...is it possible to use one to make contact when you know how to do so safely or is it generally something to be avoided?
Ha!I'm been "educated" on the paranormal! 😊
Hope this doesn't make me susceptible to spirits! 😨
Thanks!

I'm just curious about the night terrors and what it was you all actually saw... I do believe evil energies can manipulate your nightmares by inducing you into a out of body experience?...I was wondering if anyone had an encounter with an old hag at any point?...they may have thought it was a lucid dream as such and not known they were OBE?...interesting account and no doubt what ever it was, was feeding from your combine energies...I'm still more frighten of the living but in saying that, I don't wish these types of experiences on anyone... Thank you for sharing.

KRYSTALLIA: Geez, I spelled your name right this time LOL... Those are all great questions...Really, there isn't a whole lot of difference between using an Ouija board and having a plain ole seance, automatic writing, or any other means to communicate with spirits...You're opening yourself and your environment up to those who choose to enter... Protection is imperative no matter how you choose to communicate, and careful wording of whom you'll allow communication with... The "Larry" that comes through may not be your dead dog, but an unwelcome, not so nice entity... 😊
Nice to see you're getting the hang of this "comment" thing 😆 ❤

WOW!I almost peed my pants! 😆 This story is incredible! Going to my favourites! Just wow. It must have been terrifying! Losfer words here. I have read many stories about ouija boards and got the message to never mess with them (I have never ever even seen one really not in South Africa or Greece, only in movies). I am mystified though... And this seems the appropriate experience to ask my questions... Why exactly is the board a portal? Why would spirits choose to contact people through the board? Why is it different from a bunch of people gathering and asking their questions without a board? Is it because there is a pointer that can be "lead" by the spirit to answer the questions? Because if we take this experience for instance, most of the activity occured after the seance' and then climaxed when you tried to get rid of it.I'm sorry for all the questions but I would really appreciate any enlightenment on the subject. If these questions are even "answerable".
Thank you

You know, I worried that same thing. I do get an occasional "need a psychic?" e-mail. But I have the habit of deleting 96% of my e-mails anyway. I haven't gotten any "ghostbusters" e-mails if that's what you're worried about! 😆

It's mostly just answering stuff and asking odd questions making me feel ridiculous especially since it takes up commented area's on someone else's story. Makes me feel as if I'm stealing their thunder or something. That would be a good idea to put a pm at least on our personal profiles. You know like click on their personal profile and click on a button that says "message me" or something like that...

This married man had no idea how he got disabled and couldn't use his legs properly. This married man became so devastated that he even tried to kill himself a couple of times before his wife told him to go to church with him. The speaker at the church told the married man to go talk to him in his office when he had the chance. The speaker was a man who spoke to dark entities and he asked the married man, "Have you ever dealt with an Ouija board? You or anyone close to you?" The married man replied, "No, I haven't but my girlfriend when I was in high school at the time did. I tried to tell her not to." The speaker then asked, "Is any of them alive now? All of the people who took part in playing with the Ouija board?" the married man replied, "No not too long ago my ex-girlfriend contacted me and asked if I could go back with her. She was very beautiful in high school and was in modeling but some freak accident happened to her face so after she was done talking to me she got a gun and shot herself." The speaker and the married man did some praying over the opened door way and now the married man is no longer disabled and freak accident free.

quixoticqt,
I'm kind of confused about how the husband's wife died. I'm sorry, I just don't feel as though a ouija board can literally kill anyone, just like I don't believe an incubus/succubus can kill anyone. That's just my opinion though, and I am not trying to be disrespectful. I'm just trying to understand.

Oh! Nice to know that all of you didn't die because of the ouija board... Kind of like on paranormal activity and paranormal activity II. 😨
At my church they gave out some cd's of a man who talked to a veriety of people who delt with ouija boards and other dark entities. It was interesting to listen to and one of the stories was of a married man who was depressed and wanted to kill himself because his ex-girlfriend in high school played with an ouija board died and so did all the other people. They weren't as lucky as you and hadn't gotten rid of the evil in the board like you did. Just the married man lived to tell his story.

What ever the church did back then got rid of everything. Everyone as far as I know is in good health and is not bothered. However I strongly believe that most of these events were strongly attached to one of the girls (my x) THey started when she joined the group and left once she left. (Her dad was the holly man and they seemed to be very prepaired for this suff)

old_dude,
Thank you so much for posting this story. I know it does help ALOT of people out there who think about playing with an ouija board.
All who read on I'm trying to answer old_dude as best as I possibly know how. If you dispise christians please don't be offended.

No. The spirit is not the husband at all. It sounds to me like an incubi was involved. As reading in your story you said you saw at least 5 different shadows climbing on the walls. I only say this because when you dabble with an ouija board you do open a door to let any entities and demons into your life.
Have you ever heard of a lady who talks to people and tells them when they would meet there true love? Or tell them that they had previous lives?
I have and I'm a Christian and I like to talk to God and He talks to me back. He's a very blunt answerer. He helps me when I need help most. For example I needed to put oil in my car for the first time and I had a hard time taking the cap off and I was messing around with it for at least 5 minutes getting truly frustrated and finally I heard "PULL IT!" so I pulled it and sure enough it came off... Well back to lady and knowing what or who she was talking to. I asked God "why does she sound so real? Why do I as a Christian want to call her and ask her what my previous lives are? I know deep down in my heart that it's wrong to want to know these evil things when I know that humans only live ONE life and one life only." God answered me back and said, "They're not previous lives, demons/imps/dark entities attach themselves to these humans and who she was talking to was demons/imps/dark entities that watched their humans lives and reported it to this lady. Demons/imps/dark entities are forever and they love telling this lady what kind of human lives they tormented."
That being said, whatever evil tormented this husband also posed as him and committed evil to the poor girls that opened door ways dabbling with the ouija board with you.

Out of shear curiosity did any of your friends die? You know anyone who played with the ouija board. I have always been a huge advocate of NOT playing or using Ouija boards. My grandmother got one for me when I was 12, it was manufactured by "Parkerbrothers". It terrified me. I got rid of it right away.

Hi BlueFoxx, Trust me that board would not burn.
THere was enough gas on it to light a building on fire.
I was there and I think this above all was the final nail for me. When we could not get the board to burn (whether it was fire retardent chemicals or supernatural) I lost it a little.
Its one of those things that shake you on such a fundamental level of your charater that it takes a long time to try and come to terms with.
I have always been a very harsh skeptic, but this one I cannot get around.
Even a holy man (very didicated and proper man) was fightened by what happened that night and will not talk about it. In fact they moved from the building as soon as they could.
What is truley scary... Is there is no embelishment in this story. It happened infront of all of us as writen. I have tried to look back over the years and come up with resonalble explinations... The dark room caused perception depervation and led to halucinations... The CD player messed up... The father cleaned the room to scare us... The CD case fell off of the table in the ruckuss... The board had fire retardent chemicals or the dirt and wood in the wheelbarrow was damp and could not hold a flame. Garden chemicals were left in the wheelbarrow and caused the odd flames... All of it has been mulled over for years and I conceed that what happened is what happened for what ever reason and I will probally never understand it.
Like I said it was a run of the mill manufactured mass produced board, nothing special... But it caused all that trouble.

I tried to burn an Ouija board once, even used lighter fluid on it, and it wouldn't burn... I ended up taking it to a dumpster at a grocery store... I think there may be some chemicals introduced during the process of making the boards that prevent flammability, I don't know... All I know is, it wouldn't catch... 😊

It sounds like an amazing story, the stuff you could write a book about. You and Stephen king should get together and write, I am sure you will come up with some fantastic ideas for a novel. An Ouija board is only an instrument for calling in spirits it does not have its own personality or spirit old dude, to suggest it would not burn is ludicrous.

I had the same experiance, not exactly the same but simular. Your a very brave person to tell your story cause I no I'm sure not ready. If it isn't any trouble maybe you could contact me because I have some question, promise its nothing to detailed/personal. Amazing story.

i used to have a ouija board and I do believe they are possessed... And the weird about this story is my friends step-father had a experience similar to this with one of his friends. Except when this happened to him, him and his friend were at a old library and all the book cases fell down...

And I thought my ouija board experiences were scary! 😨 the only thing I would like to know is what were in the night terrors. Because after using ours
(which I have broken in half and burned) I have some strange experiences and night terrors as well. You should just be happy that the girlfriend's father knew what he was doing with it. There must have been some serious demons in that thing... 😕

Wow, that sounds... Wow. Glad all participating made it out in one peice. Scary stuff- I was planning to use an ouija board tonight with a couple of friends, now I'm not too sure...
If I were you and that happened, I would have had a nervous breakdown. Good thing you didn't.
Hope nothing like this has happened to you since,

old_dude,
I realize I've come to the party quite late, but no matter, it was a good one just the same.
I believe the wife may have somehow trapped the husbands spirit within the board to keep him from committing any further damage on this earth. I've never used a board myself, and could care less how it works or how to destroy it. Any and all discussion concerning what made him the sociopath he so obviously was, is just a guessing game at this point.
The important thing is that thankfully it is over. It had reached a point where cooler heads finally prevailed, and you took the problem to someone who believed your story. He didn't freak out when one thing didn't work, he moved on to plan B, then to plan C. He never faltered, he never stopped. He got the job done.
Thank you for sharing your story with us.

the board itself wasn't the problem. When you usedit you invoked powers you did not understand. By asking for a response you invited anything into that place when you tried to burn the boardyou were unscessful because a cursed board will never be damaged the portal may still be open in that place. A warning to all who read this there is no safe way to use a oija board that I know of. I have had bad experiences of my own for dabbling where I shouldnt

How horribly frightening that must've been. Personally I would never go near a Ouija board; wouldn't even touch one. Those things... All of 'em, they're bad news. As far as I understand, burning (or trying to) them is one of the worst things you can do. I actually had a friend who was once staying at some of his family's house and they had a Ouija board. Long story short, after many awful happenings, they attempted to burn it. It also hissed and shrieked violently. Awfully bizzare, if you ask me. While I'm curious as to the other details you mentioned... Curiosity killed the cat, and I prefer nine lives as opposed to none, hm? But if you ever feel that you are ready to, and/or that you should share, go ahead and do so. Sharing your experiences can help you resolve any feelings of doubt or unwanted, pestering thoughts and the like. But as I said, that is when you are ready, if you ever are. Someone will be there for you.
Blessed be.

My goodness, old_dude, what a horribly freaky story. When you said that your [then] girlfriend's father went to Church at about 12am/1am, I thought that maybe he would've had a car crash because of the Ouija Board. Now, you probably know that you don't mess with a Ouija Board, and if you do, do it properly (meaning with prayers of protection and what not).

Old dude! OmG! Your story gave me chills! Thank you for sharing I can only imagine that it was not an easy thing to do. But I thank you, not only because is a reminder to never use a ouija board but because it also helps those who don't believe in it. 😨
Im glad to know that everything turned out ok for you and your friends, most people are not so lucky. I've seen shadows crawling in the walls and is one of the most terrifying experiences I have ever had!

Miracles: Haha! I don't even remember that, to be honest with you... But you know, even having an annoying skeptic like myself call shennanigans on something can do one of two things for you: it can make you reconsider that there might be another explanation or you can look back and feel reaffirmed that what you experienced is real. Either way, I get what you are saying... I apologize if I was rude to you at that point, and I hope I was not. I have a lot of respect for you and I enjoy your comments.
Redphx: I don't understand this comment:
"It [if?] the old woman loved her husband as I know he didn't do those awful things to her except emotional trauma she very well could have been speaking to him."
The author has stated that this man has committed violent crimes while both in and out of the military. I can easily understand how military experience and training can make someone already mentally unstable even more aggressive, and can also increase confidence in one's capabilities of establishing physical dominance over victims. This man was quite obviously a sociopath, and those types of individuals generally do not confine their violence to a particular criteria. That may be the case at first, but in just about every case, the violence expands and escalates until the person is stopped or receives help. If you would like more information on the correlation between violent crimes and domestic abuse, you can find that information here:
Given that and the assumption that you were not involved or knew this woman and her husband personally, I am curious as to how you arrived at the conclusion that this man could not have been abusing his wife? Unless your statement was incorrectly worded and you were trying to say something else...
Old_dude: Thank you for providing these details. I think that sheds more light on the situation, and I do agree that based on those circumstances, it most likely was the husband. It is baffling sometimes to try and understand the psyche of one who goes so far off the deep end that they feel they must hurt others to feel more "alive" or to achieve personal gratification.

old_dude - you were there, so we have no reason to tell you not to trust your instincts. Thanks for giving us more information that you may not have wanted to. Although, sometimes it does help to get it all out. And sometimes strangers, especially these strangers, are easier to talk to than friends and family you've know your whole life.
I realize there are other parts of the story that you don't want to share and, believe me, I respect that. I have a couple of stories of my own that won't be seeing this site.
I'm looking forward to reading anything else you'd care to share with us. And I hope you don't take offense to any of my comments. Anything I've written was truly meant to help.

I am very convinced it was the old lady's husband that was in the board. The nightmares were key in identifying him. I did not have the worst of the nightmares but they would happen 2 - 5 times a week. Typically it was just a shadow in my dreams that would strangle me. (felt like someone clamped a vice on my throat) typically I would be paralized but still awake and see everything. The shadow would then either beat or sometimes stab/cut you then dissapear. It was a lot worse for the girls because typically they would get raped in the process. I was mostly fustrated that I could not defend myself and it was a scary process. It also bothered me that it was constantly reoccuring and getting worse / more intense.
The husband in life had been arrestee several times for abusing his wife and trying to strangle her. He also was arressted several times for violent outlashes and fights. He was suspect in several rapes. The wife spent several years hiding from him and the local police would keep drop in from time to vist her to ensure he did not return. He eventually shot himself in a drunken swing of depression in a car behind a local bar. (all according to a friend of the wife)
I sure it was him. (the name makes sense too)

Devious - like I've told you before. My very first story published on here, you were one of those who...ummm...well, let's see 😆 told me I was "full of it". In a manner of speaking. I was seeing demons where there might just not have been. So, seeking different perspectives instead of jumping off the deep end is always a good thing. I learned that the hard way. But it was a very valuable lesson and one I'm glad to have learned.

Miracles: Thanks! 😊 I think it also helps to get as many perspectives as possible, even if they seem a little silly at first. That is why I come here. If I were ever to experience some of the more wild things that others have, such as in the case of this story, I would want to know as many angles as possible of what I am dealing with. Of course, you won't see me rushing to the store to buy a Ouija board any time soon, lol...

Devious - this is why I, personally, like to hear from other people. There is always a different perspective. Unfortunately, without knowing who the big bad was, you and I will never know if either, or neither, of us was right. But I can live with that 😆. I still like the different ideas. It also brings the opportunity for someone reading to say "Hey, I never thought of that. That could explain what happened to me."

The one thing I could think that might *possibly* have the potential to be debunked as a natural phenomenon in this story is the thumps and knocks that Miracles mentioned in her comment, which you stated were experienced on the first night. You stated that the room you guys were playing in was right next to the boiler room. Heat of course will expand the walls, make the pipes crack/pop, etc. Other than that I'm well convinced that this experience was genuine. To be frank, I suppose even if the thumps and knocks can be naturally explained it does not make that big of a difference in the end, but I think the point I am trying to make here is that this entity, when it came through, did not simply start out with small activities that escalated. It came in loud and proud, and full of confidence. Whether or not it was the woman's husband, I cannot say... I am beginning to think not. This spirit seemed to be convinced that the standard rules did not apply to it, and I can only guess that it is because it has come through from the other side before.

That is one hell of a narration. I could realise that how much you and your friends would have felt about the scary experiences you had about 18 years ago. I had, of course, along with my friends a similar experience, which I shall narrate separately in my next story. But, still never play with ouija board and if you do, please do it in a sanctified place, atleast where there is a image of God, not in lonely places. It is always safer to say good bye and if you don't, you had it. I have a very strange feeling that whatever that came in on the first day when you guys did not take much notice of what happened when the pointer fell down from the centre of the board, the session was left unclosed and somebody, for some reason, must have paved a way for a bad spirit to take control. Without proper guidance, expertise, we should not involve ourselves in seances and never to touch ouija board. It is my sincere advise not to allow children to touch it and it is not a play board. It is evil board. But a scary depiction of what would happen should you mess with ouija board. A great narration even after 18 years

Rook~ you are wondering who or what closed the session, and I have an idea that maybe the old lady from the other side closed it when everyone ran out of the room, it was her board to begin with after all, and seems her husband was the one causing the problems... Just a thought 😊

old_dude - me again LOL. I've been thinking about your story and was wondering something. I'm by no means an expert here and I'm actually hoping for experts to speak up and, of course, opinions from others.
Here's what I've been thinking, more or less. When you and your friends first started messing around with the Ouija board, I believe you unknowingly opened the door and let something bad in. This "being", for lack of a better word, may have hung around for awhile, played with y'all, just not enough to scare the crap out of you. Just the little things "weird things happen the first night, but not too weird. Stuff like thumping and knocking." And then it got to the scared the stuffing out of y'all. I could go on, but this is pretty much my idea.
So I invite thoughts and opinions (as long as they aren't asinine), that is if you don't mind, old_dude. After all, this is your story 😉

To be honest about shuting down the session I am not sure what the official state is.
We said goodbye several times and it was rejected. THe normal control measures that I remember were not working. I figured that the session was left open because it was left on the word no.
I am confident that whatever was done to the board finished it.
My experiances with the Ouija board happened over several weeks. We had other events happen during this time that at the time we did not accout to being related... But thinking back now they very well could have been.
All I know is everything stoped that night... We all actually felt it around 3:00am. It felt like a weight of worry lifted... So I am guessing that's when it was actually finished.
We were never told not to ask what happened but it was definately implied.
My advice to anyone with the same problems... Don't wait, bring it to a church. Ours was specifically Roman Catholic... But hopefully it does not matter.

I dont't think the board was destroyed, I think it is still around, my dad brought an ouija board a while back, he brought it at a market in ontario, we have used it a couple of times, and we are getting the same kind of experiances as you did.
We are planning on burying it as deep as possible.

Wow... Amazing story. Frightening, believable, and well-written. A girlfriend and I screwed around with an Ouji board when we were little girls, but only for maybe 10 minutes before getting freaked out and putting it away for good. Nothing happened that I can recall. I think it was the whole idea of spirits possibly contacting us that scared us into putting it down. Since then though, little things have been happening to me and this is almost 20 years later. I'm glad your ex's dad was able to 'shut it down' for you kids and rid you of having to deal with it again. If you're a religious person, I think a simple act of confession and receiving a blessing from your local priest would help ease your mind and your soul. Just a suggestion.
Hoping all is well with you now! Take care. ❤

old_dude,
No problem, one of the reason I 'quote' from individual posts is to try and avoid confusion and as this demonstrates it can not be avoided at times.
I think your experience was well told and... Well a very honest telling of some strange events that have happened in your life.
As far as your question... "Can the spirits follow you around even wihtout the board being present?"
It is my opinion that they can (not trying to scare you, just being honest). If the board 'session' was not 'closed' properly then the 'gateway' or 'path of communication' remains open and therefore 'contact/communication' is still possible. Now in your Original Experience you said that last session ended... (and I quote...😲)
"The table exploded in front of me. (I am fairly sure it was kicked by my Girl friend or friend as they jumped back) I heard the candles fall to the floor along with the board and the chairs. I threw myself back and hit the wall." then after everyone had 'escaped' the room... "We told my Girl friend's father of the incident, we told him everything. (He already had a good idea of what had been happening, as my Girl friend told him about it with her nightmares) He decided to take charge of the situation. (He was a religious man and had almost become a priest as a young man but did not finish his vows and decided to get married and have a family. He actually had holy water on hand!) He went down stairs with the holy water and his rosary. We all stayed upstairs. After several minutes he came up with the Ouija board. He said that the room was fine that the table and the chairs were neatly in the center of the room with the board and pointer on it. The pointer was pointing to the word No. The radio was off but worked fine, the Madonna CD was still in it. The only thing was that the room was littered with CDs."
I do not doubt your memory, and if this is what happened then who 'closed' the 'session'? (The board has a 'Goodbye' on it and the fact that the 'pointer' was on the 'No' is a bit telling) Having asked that I have no doubt that your ex's Father was able to 'Banish' what ever was 'plaguing' you with the nightmares and I have no doubt that the Church was able to completely 'get rid' of the board as well. But the question remains, who shut down the last session that you guys had done with the board?
Please relate the other 'details' you are now remembering, it will be interesting to see if everything is connected somehow. Thanks again and sorry for any misunderstanding.
Respectfully,
Rook

Respectfully,
Rook

That was a really good written story. Was easy to follow and keep up with. Interesting that the board wouldn't burn in the fire. Tried to see if there was a google search that would lead to what churches do with Ouija boards and I typed up "How do churches deal wiit Ouija Boards?" in the search bar and your story is the sixth link down in the google results.
My thoughts would be is maybe they carried out some sort of blessing on it and found a way to destroy it. I think maybe it wouldn't burn because maybe the original owner did some sort of protection spell over it or something?
Peace

As much as I would really like to know how the church dealt with the board, I will not go down that path to ask.
I think everyone is in a good place with this event and I am unwilling to alter that.
As for the old woman, I think I gave the wrong impression on her in the story. I don;t think she was evil. My girfriend has good memories of her being a good person.
I don't know how involved she was with the paranormal world. I am guessing that since she offered protection salt, and had the Ouija board, she obviously had some small connection.
I think she was tormented by her husband. He died quite awhile before she did. He was a soldier in WWII and I suspect that is what changed him... Or brought out his problems. He was a drinker and abusive... Among other things.
I don't know her religious beliefs but I do not suspect her of being evil or bad. I think she did something to the board... Perhaps unknownly or not that made it evil.
I also just had a thought that since she was recently passed when got the board, that perhpas that is why her husband's spirit was so angry? Why he was attached to the board or why his anger was focussed at us (mostly the girls) I can not explain...
As I think back on this time... We had a lot of wierd things happen to us between the time we first got on the board until things started to get noticably strange... I wonder if it all was related to him?
I have an example of a time we spent in a beach/forest. It was nothing as significant as the happenings in the basment game room. I think I will write it as a story... But now that I am thinking about it, it might be all related to the ouija board... Can the spirits follow you around even wihtout the board being present? I wonder...

you know. Maybe the old lady knew what was attached to the board and she was giving your girl the salt to protect her from it. That could be a very strong possibility. It the old woman loved her husband as I know he didn't do those awful things to her except emotional trauma she very well could have been speaking to him. She was probably just trying to keep him from hurting her. That is sounds logical. Gosh you guys we can open up a paranormal detective group

old_dude wow! What a story, had me gripped from the first word. Thank you for sharing.
Living through such an experiance and having to keep it with you for so long must have been awful, I am glad you finaly decided to get it off your chest and posting it here.
Personaly after reading the comments there is one I disagree with, searching for the girlfriends father to find out what happened to the board! Why would anyone want to bother knowing that after such a long time, dragging it all back into your life.
Yes you have lived with what happened but like you said as soon as the board was delt with it stopped, searching for that one tiny bit of information could lead to thinking about looking into the rest a bit futher...
Nothing against ilee but that was a bad idea, just my thoughts though!
Hope to hear any other stuff you might have
Carl

old_dude - What a very interesting account and I'm glad you felt led to share it with us. There have been many people, both young and old, who have wanted to "play" with Ouija boards. Maybe your story will make them reconsider. As has been pointed out by many people, many different times, and you have proven in your story, Ouija boards are not games and are not to be played with.
Okay, enough of the preaching LOL. I do have something I want to say in regard to your story and the "witch." You said she used to give your girlfriend special salt to sprinkle around her room to keep the "bad people" away. This didn't necessarily make her a witch, or even it if did, it doesn't mean she was a bad or evil modern witch. Lots of people believe putting salt in the openings of your home will prevent bad spirits from being able to enter. It's a protection, not a curse. So, since she was offering your girlfriend protection, I just don't know that I believe she cursed the Ouija board. Yes, I believe there was definitely something evil in that Ouija board, but I don't believe the old woman did it. There are many different scenarios that could have created the situation you and your friends faced.
I'm not criticizing your story by any means. I truly feel for you and your friends. Without knowing what you were getting into and without having anyone to teach you the proper way to use a Ouija board, things could have ended much worse than they did.
Again, I'm glad you felt led to share your story with us.

Thank you for sharing this deeply fascinating account. I agree that your description throughout this story makes me feel as though I was watching this entire thing unfold. I think you might be on to something about the old woman's terrible husband... Perhaps she wanted to find out if he went to Hell (if that was her belief system) after he died, and got his just desserts for being such a bad person in life? Or maybe a case of Stockholm Syndrome, where the victim (usually in kidnappings, rape cases, etc. But can also apply to an abusive relationship) develops a deep and obsessive love for the abuser. Maybe she wanted to bring him back or something. Either one sounds like a possible explanation for his attachment to the board.

awesome story old_dude! I was at the edge of my chair the whole time. The way you told your story really helped give me a visual on your whole experience. I felt as if I was there. Which I'm glad that I wasn't! I'm glad that you and your friends were able to find a way to peace and rid yourselves of the evil spirit. Although, I do wish I knew how the church handled it. Now that would be a story to tell.
Curious...do you ever think about reaching out to your ex-girlfriend's father to see what happened after he took the ouiji board to the church? Not suggesting that you should (and sometimes it is best not to know), but I'm just curious if you ever feel the need to. None-the-less, I know it was really hard for you to talk about it. Because it looks like it took many years for you to actually feel comfortable in sharing your experience with others.
I'm glad that you finally feel free of it 😁

Wow that was a hair raising experience. Great story, had me on the edge of my seat. I understand how something like this would scare you enough not to ever speak about it again. Even after 18 years the events that took place are so fresh in your mind, like it happened only yesterday. Maybe it was time to tell your story, if not to help someone who might be curious about using the board then to just finally put it all behind you. Thanks for posting. 😊

Dragonwalker, We did at first think it was the history of the building... We did some research and a lot of people died in that building. It was a retirement community and a popular place to live. They averaged 1 to 2 deaths a year. (due to old age)
So we had a ton of possibilities. But when we started to ask around about the old woman who owned the board, we found a few people that knew her pretty good and more importantly known her husband.
When they described the crimes he committed in life, we instantly knew it was him. He was doing the same things in the dreams, especially with the girls.
We never thought that the old woman could have been contacting her husband... It is very possible. I don't think we ever really thought about it because she spent so much of her life tring to hide or get away from him.
BUt it would make sense why he was so strongly attached to the board.

I am confussed on how this is out of line?
I picked this website to tell of an experiance I had because this website seemed to be a place were people were being very honest and open about thier experiances.
I did express a warning not to use a Ouija board for play and not to assume that a manuafactured board is anything less real than any other board.
So I am not sure Rook if you are angry with the story or someone's post in responce to the story?
You seem to be directing your anger at me but quoting something else?
I assure you I meant no disrespect to anyone or Ouija board users.
I just personally believe that if you do not know what you are doing... Stay off the board.

It was kind of out of line, rooky, you're right... Oh and suggestive too...Sometimes, it all depends on how we say it that makes all the difference.
On with the story, I'd probably be sooo creeped out if this happened to me! It's a good thing your girlfriend's dad was strong-willed enough to handle the situation. Who knows what could've happened if he didn't help out! Great story!

VAmplifier,
I was nice and polite on another experience but not so here. You are a irresponsible S# [at] and have no right to say...
"Never...and I mean never use an ouija board... The only time to use one is when you are sad, suicidal, emo, nothing more to lose..."
How dare you presume to suggest something like that. I may be tired having worked all night, but it's crap like this that cause problems, not only on site but in the Real World.
Suggesting to not use the Board is fine...it's the rest of your statement that is completely irresponsible. I may be reacting to a 'Troll' just looking for an argument but in this case I feel it necessary to say something and I'm more than ready for any argument you may bring. If you do not have something constructive to offer then BUGGER OFF!
With all due Disrespect meant,
Rook

old_dude This is such a well written and informative story of why people should not "play" with ouija boards ever! And after 18 years you've finally got it off your chest, I hope it helped ease your inner issues with this matter 😊
Do you think maybe the lady who owned it before was trying to keep in contact with her deceased husband and that is why he was so attached to this particular board? Just a thought I had, thank you so much for this story, it just goes to show a ouija board, manufactured or not is always a powerfully dangerous thing to have in any ones possession ❤
BTW I didn't realize Madonnas Immaculate collection was released so long ago! 😆

It must have been a very frightning situation I can only imagine the fear as to being in the pitch black looking for the door or the light at the time geez. Well I hope people who are thinking of using these "tools" get a better understanding as to what can occur and that isn't a game. As previously mentioned by other posters this is one of the better Ouija Board stories I have read, well done.

I have always wonder how the church dealt with the Ouija board... I really don't know and have often wondered if it was burnt or buried... If anyone has any factual theries I would be interested in knowing them.
I am glad that people are reading this and taking it for the warning it should be.
This all happened in my last year of highschool so I was still very young and being that the Ouija board was from a manufactuer, I figured it was safe and just a game that was based on a group of people letting thier imaginations run. I would have thought something this evil would have a more sinister origin. Like a hand made Ouija board made from something possesing supernatural charms or characteristics... Who knew!...hopfully others will now be forwarned.

Thank you for sharing this story with us mate, I can tell it wasn't easy for your to share it, but am very glad you did. I was gripped by your account from start to finish!
This story should be a stern reminder to everyone, whether a sceptic or believer, that the Ouija is not a joke, and if your planning to use the board - DONT! I have reas countless stories where peoples lives have turned upside down because of using an Ouija board 'out of fun' or curiosity. The Ouija board is a gateway between this world and the hidden realm wherin demons, devils and djinns lurk. Once contact is made, the veil which seperates the two is lifted, and all hell breaks loose!
I feel Old Dude is one of the lucky few because the demonic attacks ceased once the board was destroyed. But the majority of time, IT DOESNT! And the terrors can carry on for the better parts of your life.'we should never romanticize this board, don't thihk Casper the friendly ghost will show up after you use an Ouija board! It won't be Casper, but CASPERS WORSE NIGHTMARE! Now that is something to take note of!
Thanks once again Old Dude for sharing your story, and I hope your life stays free of the supernatural.

It was a very simple and very common name. We did do a little research at the time and we think we figured out who it was. We suspected that it was the husband of the woman who owned the Ouija board. He was a criminal and committed horrible crimes both in the military and once he came home. He did end up killing himself in a car out behind a bar. Beacuse of his name and the similarities to his crimes in life we figured it was him.
