Lol shelbylea... Your really getting a lot of feedback! Well, I believe that was the same paper I saw in my box too, its not really that big a deal but at least now we both know it does come with the board so say no more, lol

BlueTurtle, thank you! I try to be as nice as I can be and I get ran all over because of it. Its hard for me to be mean! I really couldn't believe that they were hounding me over instructions! I wouldn't post anything that was untrue, I know no one can take my word for it but it does bother me when people say I'm BSing about something that I know is true. But, you win some and you lose some I guess! Thank you so much for taking time to read my story and leaving me a positive comment:-) . I am sorry about your aunt, its tough losing someone you love.

Hey Shelby,
Had quite an adventure looking through all the comments on this board and, I have to admit, I've never seen such aggravation over a piece of paper! I understand that you were a little unsure while writing the story since it happened so long ago, and that's fine. I have a hard time remembering things as they were too.
I'm sure you know at this point that Ouija boards are bad news, but they do seem appealing at a young age. I used one with my sister (just the two of us) and we experienced the same thing where we asserted that neither of us was moving the pointer. Whether it was our imaginations or not, I don't know... But the 'spirit' that we spoke to seemed to be female and was pretty shy. So we just up and forgot about it. Nothing happened afterwards. I'm sorry to read that you had quite the opposite affect!
I feel for you that you lost your friend and it's shocking to me too the numbers that came up. One post earlier detailed the adding of the numbers that came out to be the date (as well as the age) of your friend that died.
I kind of got chills when I saw the date... My aunt died that very day, though in the year 2003, after battling cancer.
You seem like a genuine person and, while I realize some people want to uphold the assurance of honesty on this site, I do think it's unfair to question your experiences over a piece of paper.
Hope things get better for you. Keep your chin up! And sorry for the length of this comment! ❤

Clever, I read your stories and all I can say is wow! I would not be sleeping at night! And about the answers running through your head. When we asked simple questions that happened to me but only like 3 times and I didn't really think anything of it.

Shelby, the only time that I used a Ouija board, all of the answers were running through my head while being spelled out on the board. This was very strange. I still don't know if this was just my own brain creating things or whether something was communicating directly with me. Seeing as how I have had some weird things happen to me (see my two stories), I am starting to think that it wasn't just me.

Yes Granny, it is possible from within her friend came a prediction of her own death... There would have been people in the spiritual realm that also would have known it was coming... I too am sorry about your friend's death, unfortunate as it was and it's never fair... Considering it was on the table it looks like it was a part of her fate... And if there's one consolation from that... Take comfort knowing she would have crossed over into the light and started her next journey, rather than stuck here as a lost soul!

clever210 thanks I appreciate you!
Granny, I'm not 100% sure. My friend Megan's mom used to tell us that when Megan was little she would always play in her room by herself and she would say that she was playing with an imaginary friend. Megan would also have dreams that would come somewhat true but not fully true. I don't really know if I believe in people actually knowing the future. I've never really thought about it. But to answer your question, yes there is a possibility.

I haven't read all the comments, just keep true to yourself mate, if you know your account happened and wrote your story the way you remember it as best you can... At the end of the day that's all that matters... People here have the right to disagree and say what they say, just as you have the right to defend your story...it's one long continuing struggle for all of us to find the answers we seek...don't take it personal mate keep your chin up and keep your cool!

ShelbyLea: I wasn't addressing you... When I do it will look like this:
"ShelbyLea:"...Okay?
I never said this story was pure fiction... You wrote it, and without proper self-editing, submitted an account full of discrepancies that had you taken the time to re-read, you would have avoided all the negative, skeptical comments...
You have no obligation to anyone to prove your honesty, as I have no obligation to trust your word...
That being said, I am sorry about the loss of your friend... My son lost a friend at the same age, (his friend was murdered) and it's very hard to get over something like that...However, I don't know if the board can predict the future like that...If, as Nysa pointed out, most times the planchette moves because of our own thoughts, I pose the question: is it possible that one of the participants is psychic?

I think maybe it's because there have been people that submit a story in the past and it sounds kind of out there and then they never come back to respond to any of the comments that get posted. But you did come back and if you say that your story is true, I have no reason to assume anything other than you are telling the truth.
I try not to bash anyone. 😊

95 percent of the time with an Ouija board the planchett is moved sub consciously by those who are participating with it... Which means basically the movement of the planchett is done by the people playing with it at any given time... Giving the impression that it is a separate entity... Now in saying that, it doesn't mean what comes through is fake or B.S neither, our subconscious is our spiritual consciousness and we can move the planchett ourselves or with supervision of other spirits in the room during the time... What happens with a lot of people especially teens, they get frighten and know the folk law about demons and these boards... Once you have a player with a frighten mind the game changes... Two fold, 1. Sub consciously a player who is thinking about demons will start scaring the group unintentionally just from thinking negative about the whole deal and 2. You may attract something evil into you space who will run a muck using your own minds against you... I believe in your account you did have a spirit present with you during your time of playing and when it spelled out demon, that part was perhaps the cause of a over imaginative frighten mind... Your friend passing was not the work of a demon, but more of a warning from who ever was with you in spirit on that day!

Granny, its not a fictional story. But believe what you want, I don't care anymore. Its really sad that you all act this way over a story that has a little bit of confusion. You don't have to get all upset, you're going to make other people not want to come back here and post their true stories because you all nit pick at everylittlendetail. There may be someone who actually needs your advice, you all seem like an extremely smart bunch of people but others will feel too uncomfortable about posting a story because they'll be afraid you are going to say its untrue.

This site is a haven for many of us to discuss our belief and skepticism in paranormal phenomenon...
There are plenty of other sites that offer fictional ghost tales... If it's fiction you want, then all I can say is, go find one of them...

ShelbyLea - I'm not taking sides here, and not going to comment on your story. All I'm going to do is offer a bit of advice, okay?
You've made your point and others have made theirs. You are never going to convince someone who doesn't believe you. It's just that simple. This is one of those cases where you are just going to have to "shake hands" and agree to disagree.
You believe what happened to you. That's all that matters.
This is one of those that can go on for days and other stories might get overlooked in the process. I'm done. Thanks, y'all.

Well Shelby, I was going to "defend" my point of view and beliefs, but I believe I got all the satisfaction I need.
Several people on here seem to care about whether a story is true or false; I do not. The reason why I don't care is because I know that there's more in this world than what can be explained. I'm comfortable with my beliefs, and I don't have to justify myself to anyone. If you all are trying to find the truth as opposed to just taking the story for what it is, then maybe yall have more doubt than you'd like to admit?
Either way, like I said before, it doesn't matter whether the story is true or not. If you have trollers on this site who like to tell bs all the time, then what does it matter to you? Do you feel as if someone is making fun of you? If we're all based on the honor system, and someone is being dishonorable, then that's their problem. Not ours.
If you want to engage with them and basically discourage people to actually post on this site, then go right ahead. But be careful, you may actually be doing more harm than good. By protecting your "integrity" in this site, your discouraging people to even bother posting THEIR testimony. Before you know it, you may not have anything at all but "bs" stories.
Once again, I hold you all in the highest respect: honorable or not. Thank you Shelby for your story, I really enjoyed it, but I'm sorry for your friend, Snowy. Please take care and stay safe. Also, please post any more story you may have, and if your not comfortable doing so (which I can COMPLETELY understand why), feel free to contact me through a PM or email.
Thank you!

Like I said, it happened. Whether you want to believe it or not. The instructions were paper instructions. I promise, I know you can't exactly take my word for it. But this is something that truely scared me. The paranormal is something that has always interested me and I was a major skeptic before this happened. And I'm not a kid, I'm 20 years old. Please don't talk to me like I'm a child. Its not a big deal that you don't believe me and I can take all the harsh comments that you've posted. I have no idea who you are, I wouldn't take anything personal that you post. I truly appreciate you taking the time to read this story though. Even if yiu don't believe me:-)

Listen, I apologize for being harsh with you. But understand this, we are all on an honor system here, and we want to believe that what people say happened really did occur. But we are not so gullible that we let the obviously "enhanced" accounts go untested. It isn't that we think the entire account is a lie, but since so much of it doesn't ring true, we end up ripping through the entire account of what you say happened. Any and all discrepancie sare noted and discussed.
To you it might be a cool story, to us it's the integrity of the entire sight we are protecting. This is for "True" experiences. And we care a lot about that.

ShelbyLea09,
Wrong again sweety! I checked this out. Spencers carries only 'Parker Bros.' Ouija Boards and the instructions on all 'Parker Bros' Boards are printed on the back of the box. Let it go kid. You have no idea what kind of people you are messing with. We research EVERYTHING, we double check that research too. Are you sure you want to keep this up? Because I can do this all day.

ShelbyLea: Thank you for responding... But please understand that when you post something in a public venue, (people who don't know you and vice versa) you will get questions, doubts, etc... Just because our members believe in the paranormal doesn't mean we have to believe every account that passes editing... I know it seems like we're being nit-picky, but the discrepencies pointed out are obvious...
I understand and will give you the benefit of the doubt about your explanation that you were writing from memory, but that's why it's so important to proof read your account before attempting to submit it, and then again prior to pressing the "submit" button...

OK, now that I've read through all the comments let me just say you guys can sit there and say this story is fake, like I said before I honestly don't care. I know what really happened. The reason I haven't been back on here is because I didn't even know the story had been published yet. I hadn't checked my email until today. Sorry I'm not like most people and check it everyday. All I know is something happened a few years ago and I lost one of my best friends because of it (or at least that's how I feel). I'm not trying to play the pity card, I don't want your pity. I just wanted to post this somewhere and I thought this seemed like a good place. There are a lot of consing parts, I'm sorryabout that. It was a long story and I kept getting confused myself. This happened a few years ago! I honestky don't know why the demon or evil spirit or whatever you want to call it revealed its name to us, all I know is it happened and when my friend Megan freaked out and said don't talk to him we all freaked out and took our hands off! And it was Megan who asked about her mom, not Snowy. The board said Megan's mom would pass away at an old age, I thought I put that in there, I guess I forgot it. Again, sorry about the confusion. Oh, and whogoes there, when you said the thing about 1+8=9 and stuff it really gave me the chills. Thanks for actually considering my story to be true. Thanks again for reading it everyone.

We did throw the ripped up quija board and the planchett thing over the hill, I meant that we threw the box and the instructions and whatever was left (I'm not really sure what else was in there because I wasn't exactly worried about that at the time.) Out of the car window. Some of you may think this is BS, but it doesn't matter. I know what really happened and my friends know what really happened. I just wanted to get my story out there. But I still appreciate you all taking the time to read it:-)

whogoesthere,
Perhaps there is some truth to the "sticky" board finding it's way home. I am not a hard core sceptic- ready to dismiss all- but when a story raises more than one flag, I think some questioning is in order.
If someone claims that a board session spelled out some known demonic name- and that someone in that group recognized the name as such- my first reaction will always be that of a sceptic.
The accounts of true evil oppression I have looked into- resulting from use of a board- the spirit always used everyday names (John, etc) pretending to be someone of interest who lived long ago- perhaps looking for a place to rest. Always some hint of deception- looking for some type of invitation.
Like I said, perhaps the story above is the exception, and while there may be obvious patterns in these cases, nothing points to specific rules when it comes to the preternatural.

Jave and Rook: Yeah, any board I've ever seen has the instructions on the lid of the box, or on the back of the board... Not that I've seen every board made, but well, enough to warrent a corner of the blankie on that statement...
Let's give the poster a little more time to respond, but I have a feeling they won't 😆

B.S.Blanky anyone?
I believe the situation warrants it. Especially when you consider the O/P had made such a fuss about the "Instructions" being found ripped up in her pocket.

Granny, you were first to comment, would you like to do the honors please? 😉

[at] Rook,
That's what it was! But it did stick with me. Ijust called my niece, she has a board she uses for Halloween decoration. I asked her to check and yes, they still are printed on the back of the box.
Thanks Rook,

I see the O/P has not returned yet to confirm any questions that have been asked.
I will say this... They clearly state that they wanted to PLAY with the board... Strike One... (It is a 'Tool' not a GAME) They became obsessed with it... Strike Two... And finally (and the one part of this entire STORY that really makes me go Hummmm? 😕) is the fact that the O/P vividly remembers that everyone, well I'll quote the O/P...
"...we all freaked out and took our hands off without saying goodbye."
It is a rare experience where that this detail is 'recalled' so vividly... Usally those using the Board leap away in terror and/or the table is flipped over and many questions are asked to establish if the 'session' was 'Closed' properly.
So while I have my doubts about this story I shall await the O/P to return and address our questions before making up my mind.
Jav,
I think you are thinking of a comment I made about the orignal instructions being posted on the back of the board in 1902...

In addition to what Javelina said, sometimes, in the case of those of us giving actual accounts, a judgement could give us an additional venue of thought on the matter to explore that could explain more of what happened or even help us see that we misunderstood what was going on.

[at] WhoGoesThere,
I have to disagree with your statement:
"We're here to hear people's testimonies; not to judge them"
If you will kindly take a gander at the top of this comment, you will notice a green arrow pointing up and a red arrow pointing down. Those are for judging that particular comment. But we are also encouraged to give our opinions, which can be seen as, and most often is, a judgment on the story. Therefore, we are here to judge.

Hold the phone here just one second! I seem to recall from another discussion, probably on Rook's experience, that the instructions were written on the inside of the box lid.
I have to check, but I'm pretty sure that was the case.

Dearest ShelbyLea09,
No, I don't care to hear anymore of your experience with the Ouija board. You were obviously bored when you decided to write this tripe. If any of this had actually taken plasce I would love to hear your reaction from the courtroom as the judge handed down a fine plus community service as your penalty for the wantom littering you engaged in. Go ahead and play your games, have your fun. But tell me why the environment and those of who suffered through the reading of this fairy tale must suffer for it, we did nothing to you.

Enjoying the ouija debate going on here; some very interesting theories floating around!
I did have a question about the posting itself... In the text it was stated that everything was going well until their "other friend (who I will assume is...Snowy?) asked something about when her mother was going to die." And got the 1 and 8 response. But then in the closing, it was Snowy herself who ended up passing, and no mention was made of the fate of the mother. So... Was the board talking about the mother or daughter?

I understand what your saying Pjod, but I have to say I disagree, respectfully. Look, I have never played with the Quija Board, ever. I can admit that. However, I have far more experience than your typical little seances in rooms. But that's neither here nor there.
What I do have are testimonies from real honest people who, again, have no relation to one another. It is not simply an "urban legend" as you so all put it. Fortunately, in this world there is something greater than knowledge; wisdom.
If there's a great number of people out there claiming that they have repeatedly tried to get rid of a board game, yet it still comes back in it's original form, and it's the same board game. Then ya, I can agree that some, maybe even half are just trying to play a prank or believe what they want. But to rule out absolutely everyone simply because it didn't happen to you or rarely happens is complete nonsense. We're here to hear people's testimonies; not to judge them.
Further more, as far as a Demon treasuring and protecting it's name at all costs, well that can and may be true. But it's as you stated Pjod, that's for exorcisms. Now we all know that's what they say in the movies, and maybe hollywood actually got their story straight from the vatican. But we also know (people of faith) that the devil works in very mysterious ways, much like the lord in heaven. And just because a demon claims his name is "so and so," doesn't mean his name is actually "so and so."
Please understand, I hold you all in the highest respects. But we must keep an open mind if we want people to share their testimonies; fake or otherwise.

You have to be very careful when using ouija boards. Demons will often disguise themselves as loved one's, or as friendly spirit's. It is vey dangerous to destroy a ouija board, that you suspect was the gateway for a spirit, or worse demon. Once you have destroyed it in essence, you've destroyed the door from which it entered. Thus it cannot exit!

Granny is correct the Tib. Means Tibetan. Tibetan Buddhism incorporated the beliefs of the religion that existed in Tibet before Buddhism was imported from India, often referred to as Bon. It was an animistic religion in which forces of nature were personified. Destructive forces are "demons."

Not to alarm but "Tib" refers to a Buddhist demon. There are five in total and "Tib" is part of their names.

Isn't it awesome to have a place to discuss these things Aya22? I am amazed how often one of these discussions stimulates new thoughts or underdeveloped thoughts for me. I lean heavily towards thinking that is always at play in ouija or talking board experiences, but like you I know better than to think I can say 100%.

Ooh! Thank you very much Nysa! That is exactly what I was referring to! Thank you for the link. It's extremely interesting and gives a lot to think about.
When I was somewhere around 14 one of my friends was dead-set on using a ouija board. Knowing about how my house was haunted, she wanted to use it there. I asked my mom and she refused. So we ended up doing it at her own house with another friend. I've gotta say that was the most ridiculous ouija board session in the history of ouija boards. After a while, I started to suspect if one of my friends wasn't "creating" the ridiculous ghosts and situations. So I began to concentrate on only a single sentence in my mind, a very silly and immature one. For as long as I was participating, that was the only sentence (the one I was thinking of) that was spelled out. That was the first and last time I used a board.
Very interesting link... It makes me wonder. There's more that I don't understand than I originally thought, which is a lot LOL. While I don't want to dismiss every Ouija board story, because I have only that experience with them and "wasn't there" in a story, I too think that there may be cases where our own fears and thoughts are being projected. Too bad there aren't forums on here for discussion, eh? 😉

Thanks nysa, I always thought those stories were a little over the top. I've played with ouija boards for years and I've never had anything happen. Not that I don't believe in them because I've had many supernatural things happen to me but I just don't buy a lot of the stories I've read about them.

The same thing happened to me when I lived in florida me and my friend decided to to a sayance and we lite candles in her room and turned out the lights and we asked if hitler could come forth and he then asked if hitler was there could he open the closet door and for sure the closet door opened and me and my friend were so freaked out. And we never did that again.

I have a question concerning the legitimacy of answers received through Ouija board sessions, if someone could answer it please?
Can a person project their own thoughts into the "game?"
Not implying that I think messing with these these things is a game...

exactly.
And that is why we have so many ouija stories that don't hold water. It is easy to overlook such things.
I always thought the reason the Vatican sensors the acts of an exorcism- so clergy can weed out the tall tales. It is hard enough for them to seperate the mentally disturbed from true oppression. When a person comes crying wolf, they usually don't have all there T's crossed and I's dotted.

Evil spirit (D word) protects it's name. It is the one thing an exorcist is after only through a grueling process. For such an entity to announce itself by name, with an intent to oppress and ultimately possess- makes little sense.

This story is really freaky, but I also was confused about the disposal of the board, I've owned many ouija boards and other than the board and plachette, the only thing left in the box is the instruction paper, so what else was in it if everything else was pretty much in it? And also I have a question in general for everyone if they could please answer, I've read about the ouija demon zozo many times and I was wondering if those stories are true, why does that demon announce himself if demons don't do that? Just curious

I tend to agree with WHoGoesThere. I find this story to be rather interesting but almost a bit too "urban legendish". But as WhoGoesThere stated about believing someone's story because I wasn't there.
So, I do understand the part about first getting rid of the board itself, and then attempts to get rid of the box with everything in it. (Including the instructions that ended up in the pocket). How did you ever discard the instructions?
Also, I think that Ouija Boards don't predict the future. I am, however, on the fence about if they can influence the future.

I do agree that we have many stories about folks starting much trouble for themselves messing with these boards. The whole "I tried to destroy the board only to have it appear on my doorstep" is the thing of urban legends. It makes for a good scare. As far as an 18 year old linking the name a board spells out to that of the preternatural realm- very suspect. If he/she even has that knowledge would make me very skeptical of the event itself. Evil spirit will not announce itself by name- but perhaps this story is the exception.

No disrespect to you fellas, but I've heard several stories from people saying the same thing about the Quija Board. They say they try to get rid of it by burning it or abandoning it somewhere, yet it comes back either unscathed or almost brand new. Also, these stories that I hear come from people who are in no relation to one another. Not sure what response you all are waiting for exactly, but I just thought I'd share that to support his story.
Also, the numbers 1, 8, and 18 can equal 1+8=9 (September), 1+18=19 (the day), and leaving 18 alone for the age of your friend Snowy.
I can't judge whether this story is true or not, but this is what I think. I'll believe someone's testimony until I can prove otherwise that it's not true, or debate with them the facts. But I won't go straight into telling them their lying because 1: I wasn't there and 2: If they are lying, how does that affect me at all? He'she is the one with the guilty conscience.

I'm not ready to call BS on this yet, but I do think that there is some clarification needed. One other thing that I have heard about demons is that they will almost always deny their real name or existence at first. They intend to trick, harm, and scare and would rarely ever offer any valid advice. It probably wouldn't just come right out and tell you its real name. Well that is what I have heard at least, and maybe it's not true, I don't know, I've never had first hand experience with a demonic entity, and I plan to keep it that way. Blah blah blah, don't play with Ouija boards!

Shelby: Before the pack gets here and throws the BS blankie, I'll ask you to clear up the discrepancy of the disposal of the board... First you said you ripped it up and threw it into the river, then you threw the box with everything in it ("it had pretty much everything inside of it including the instructions.") out the window... Which is it?
